I followed my nose to find this shrub blooming, I had forgotten I planted a "stick" a few years ago, first year for a bloom, I think it is a white lilac, but have no clue..

good morning everyone love the pictures as always.
my dead coral tree has officially kicked the bucket. i had a HUGE old coral tree (erythrinia) that died about 2 years ago, so i had a guy cut the tall top branches off. i of course thought i have a great place for all my chalice vine, passion vine, aristalochia, bromeliads. so last night the tree came crashing down. thank god it didn 't kill anyone or the dog. ...so sad but of course i am already thinking of replacements. i am thinking of a sunshine tree.

Hey all: I've been away diving for a week with my kids and their spouses (spice?). My Mother's Day (week) treat about every 5 years is a 'fix' of my other obsession.

You all have some fabulous flowers coming along! I'm adding to my 'wants' list already!

I will get out into my jungle and take pictures as soon as it stops raining. The rain is a great blessing as I think it has been pretty hot while I was away. Hope you got some, MJ. Looks like this front went across the whole state.

Great to go away and come back to lots of new stuff sprouting and blooming. My little start of Passiflora 'Lady Margaret' was not even 2 feet tall when I left, and it is over 6 feet up the screen on the pool cage tonight! Will be out disentangling its little tendrils tomorrow morning.

I enjoyed all the pictures Candela and Debra.

Texasbigleaves, I've read that maximum is probably, if not, the largest leaved Philo. that there is and yours sure is well on it's way judging by that tape measure against that leaf. I've never been lucky enough to view this plant in person but your pictures show just how stunning it is. Thanks.

My first agapanthus bloom starting to fade - raindrops on there look kinda cool, I think.

Candela, your tall begonia is so pretty - it is just like the one my Mom used to grow in her dining room. It got huge, too. She was always pruning it and giving away cuttings to her friends.

Here's my new begonia 'Gryphon'. The biggest leaf is over 10' across.

My funny spiral ginger blooming. They're not spectacular, but the flower heads persist for weeks. This plant is in a pot and only 4' high, with several blooms on it. Others out in the jungle under my biggest oak tree are lanky and 7 feet tall.

Debra, your white flower sure looks like white lilac to me. Wish I could get a whiff of that lovely scent! My daughter has three bushes in her garden - in Salt Lake City.

Here's a substitute I'm trying here - it's a white Verbena v. 'White Lily'. Don't know if it will tolerate the hot, wet summer, but it does have a lovely fragrance, unlike most of the fancy modern colors of verbena.

My poor old pink Brug has put up one healthy new shoot, and here it is blooming. Two cold winters really hit the poor thing hard. I have a few new ones to replace it with, but can't muster up the heart to pull it out when it shoots up and blooms like this!

Hello Everyone!
From all these pictures, I can tell that everyone has been puttering in their garden. I have had to take most of my pots back into the GH, we are having a little cold spell again. It actually is very nice to be outside.

Texasbigleaves, what big beautiful plants you have there! You know that I covet them, especially your Philo. Maxium.
Thanks for starting the new thread.

mjsponies, I have to agree with everyone, your Epiphyllm Veneta is gorgeous. I enjoy sharing in your excitement of a new bloom. I have a noid red that has over a dozen buds on it. I couldn't wait, I went out last night expecting a bloom, maybe tonight.
I love your first picture!

Joeswife, Glad to see so many things flowering in your back garden. I wish that all the cold weather will be over with, so that we can get down to some serious planting.

This is a new Pink Passion vine, a gift from a friend.

I always check the background in your pictures, you have so much going on in your yard.
I am sorry that your Fern tree did not make it

Enjoyed all your pictures, the last one is my favorite.

Hey Big leaves! No big leaves left at the jungle here (except the tree fern)
Hi Rita, Candella, Rachel and Dyzy-
Joeswife, those wonderful plants you sent are coming back again!

Sarasota, FL(Zone 9b)

Rita, your pink passion vine is just lovely. What a pretty color, and delicate flower.

Is that another type of spiral ginger in your last picture, with the yellow and red flowers? I'm very partial to gingers, they're so easy and rewarding.

Brazilian plume flower, started just like Debra's lilac - I stuck a twig in the ground 3 years ago, and it is now a nice shrub. Survives winter and everything, making me think it's not "really" Brazilian in origin.

Hi All,
Great pics. dyzz here's your above plant...I have the same one. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1335/

We had a pretty bad storm Friday night, Hail, high winds and heavy rain. So we needed the rain but not the other. Spent most of yesterday cleaning up, had a couple trees we had to take down as they had heeled over pretty bad, still can't find a couple of smaller potted plants and had to repot quite a few, found the plants, not the pots ! Nearly took off part of the roof of one of the little barns. Saturday got more rain, but thank goodness not the winds. Was very wierd as some thing did not seem disturbed at all.
Gloriosa lilly's were un-phased.
