Harlow brothers are all super good guys. Great maple syrup too aside from being early organic farmers up this way with a wonderful veggie stand. Nice kin your DH has.
Last time our DS helped with a garden project DH backed the truck into him and crushed his leg. There was no break but a serious injury to his all his tissues and muscle. He was on crutches for a very long time. I haven't asked him to do anything since in the garden, but he would help if he were around. Lucky us. Patti
Spending spree pt #6
WHOA, what a brug!!!
no kidding right... I kinda said what the heck is that one.. walked over and was shocked to see a brug with that color.. just had to have it
didn't buy this one.. but can imagine what it would be like later on when it fills in.. double grafted.. my guess it will look like a skirt later on.. sent it to Victor while we were there
Why did they leave that bottom growth? Looks really strange
it was grafted on there
Ugly!!
Patti, that is so sad what happened to your DS. Your DH must have felt terrible! Since my DH has one leg in a cast we can't afford another injury,so guess its a silver lining that my DS only helps in the garden as he gets inspired for a short while.
and here I thought you guys would think the graft was different... LOL.. guess not
It certainly is different, in a Lady Gaga sort of way.
LOL
I notice I'm mentioning Lady Gaga at least once a day lately!!
guess you like her after all
She's gorgeous! Talented, bright, innovative, organic. What more can you ask?
don't forget .. rich
LOL....I'll say! Patti, awful thing to happen to your son! And Allison, the salvia is a hummer magnet......I try to fill in bare spots with annual salvia.....
besides the color.. you know that's why I buy it
:
Nice big plants, Allison! Can't wait to see the flowers on those.
Patti, how tough your DS's injury must have been for you! Sorry to hear that.
has lots of buds!!
Nice haul Allison, love that brug!
patti should have dropped by - had guests late yesterday and i am on a mission to move the pile of mulch
Gorgeous? Seriously?
Geez, Patti, don't know how I missed that part of your post....how horrible!
Wow, everyone's been really busy buying, I see. Patti, sounds like you had a great time shopping for plants on your road trip. Those are the most fun kinds of trips. Sorry about your DS's leg. That must have been awful for all of you.
Allison, I love that brug! I want one!
I have not bought any plants in a couple of weeks. Last time I bought plants I had gotten a bunch of annuals for my planters and three new echis. Can't remember which ones now. One was a native species variety.
Karen
bad news Karen.. they only had that one there.. will have to wait for new growth and try cuttings
I can wait. I think that grafted evergreen is pretty interesting.
Karen
That happened to my son a few years back when I was building our endless stream, but DH still feels horrible about it. The Kid is now fine. He has a good sense of humor about life's little foibles that get thrown at us. But it was a terrible moment. We got back tonight on the steamship, so tomorrow I get to start planting a zillion things.
Cool brug, but they scare me, sort of like grass does. Maybe someday I will buy one.
Wha, ran out of time as I went to see a friend this morning in Vt who is recovering from that horrible flesh eating disease. Beyond scary. Patti
Wow - got it here or overseas, Patti? Terrible.
Victor, In Vermont. Go figure. The Necrotizing fasciitis may have happen while she was in the local hospital for stomach pains. They removed her appendix but after surgery it was declared fine and not the problem. Then she took a terrible turn for the worse, so the Brattleboro hospital threw her in an ambulance and rushed her up to Hanover. Good thing as the doctors up there figured it out immediately and rushed her into surgery. They called her only child in England and said that she should come on the next plane. She did. There was another woman at Dartmouth Hitchcock at the same time with the same thing as my friend, but in order to save that women's life they had to amputate both her arms and legs . I am not sure if I would choose that option. My friend is going to be fine after being critical, and now just having a slow but steady recovery from the wounds and surgery in her abdomen. She was very lucky. Patti
I'm glad your friend will be fine, Patti. What a terrible thing to have to go through. I sure could not take that option that that woman took of amputating both arms and legs. I can't even imagine it.
Karen
wow how terrible Patti.. glad she will be ok
Wow - how terrifying.
Wow Patti, how horrible, I was just reading about this the other day.
My stepdaughter's friend had it....he's a diabetic, & got it from the injection site....too horrible to think about! Bill, glad you took time out to relax......too hot & humid yesterday to work like that......Patti, have fun planning & planting.....
glad your friend is getting better patti!
Thanks all. She is feeling better and happy about all the weight she has lost. But not a great way to diet. It is odd how it is now appearing all over the place (Robindog's connection) Was it here all along and we are just more tuned in to everyone around the world or is it a new plague? Patti
