We have until 5. That's midnight Jerusalem time.
Spending spree pt #6
It is "Coccineus", Marilyn. Do you know it? Hank and I went to the bare root sale at Davis Brook Farm today and we got 6 beauties. The sale was very good. Hank picked out "Quaking Aspen" and "Nordic Night" and I picked out "Cranberry Cove", "Edna Lankhart", "Ice Carnival" and "Carpenter Shavings". HELP ME!!!!!!!! I NEED to stop now!!!!!!!!!! There's nothing more dangerous than a few empty spots in a re-worked garden. lol
I'm not sure about that one, Louise. The ones I got from Annie's Annuals look great....can't wait til they flower. Sounds like a nice selection of colors with the DLs.....
Marilyn - I know just what you mean....it's exciting to wake up each day and know that there will be surprises in the garden all summer. Life as a gardener is good!!!
Louise, I love your description. There is just nothing better on earth than a morning walk through the garden to see what's going to delight today! :)
Just an FYI Bluestone's May sale has started. Just ordered a few things I have been holding off on like their phlox collection and a few other goodies.
Philadelphus Innocence
Echinacea Green Envy
Clematis Pink Fantasy
Agastache Golden
Sambucus Sutherland
Armeria Rosa
Anemone Alice
Aquilegia Tequila Sunrise
Rudbeckia Goldsturm
Phlox Garden Collection
oh boy ... good stuff!!!
Looking at Bluestone's sale too...ugh I really shouldn't...
Does anyone have these???
Campanula punctata Pantaloons
http://www.bluestoneperennials.com/b/bp/CAPTP.html
Do they flop over?
I have peach bellflower from Stormy.. it's good
I put those in this year. If they are anything like the purple I have they are lovely and don't flop.
I have Korean Bellflower and they are invasive.! Stay away from the species 'takesimana' and you should be fine.
And stay away from species called 'takesyourmoney'!
Too late for that one....been there......will for certain go back there! Gardeners must have a large stubborn streak....Bookreader, I was looking at the armeria, but it doesn't seem to last long for me....
LOL, Victor! Peach bellflower??? Never seen those....they sound pretty! I've only had the blue, and they do spread, but I like them,so I don't care. All of mine died out. They were coming up all around the patio. I actually miss them, so I may have to look for the cultivar Victor mentioned. :)
Reaching for the sun tilt...
I have that same one from Stormy
Was wondering if the pantaloons ones would be heavier.
Came back with another load of mulch today now only if the weather and my health will cooperate!
guess you will have to be our pioneer
I think the peach is part of peach leafed bellflower.....gee, that one looks great with the foxglove, Allison!
oooohhhh ok... what do I know????
:)
Hi all ... I've been staying away because last time I looked at this thread I got in SUCH trouble. It's hard to take care of all the pretties I order! So I can't order any more. Period. So I can't let you enablers give me ideas ... still have tulips from last year to plant.
Hey birthday girl, plant those tulips if they are not mushy. Lilac time here on Nantucket. I am planting plugs that I ordered last summer for delivery this spring. They just arrived, mostly new Heuchera and now just waiting on a few shrubs that are in the mail now. Almost done with this years spending. But not quite. First Siberian Iris bloomed today. Patti
I got 2 new evergreens with my gift card...and I got the Bluestone replacement order...I'll never ever ever order from them again. I'm so peeved it's not funny. I need to go plant my shrub and tree now. Finished putting in all of the annuals yesterday. I may go and buy a 1/2 flat of Impatients for the shady bald spots. lol
Thom, what happened with Bluestone?
I posted it in the Garden Watchdog, I don't really want to post it in an open forum, I know some peeps will read it there, and that will be it, yet if I post it here, well...it can open up a lot of discussion that may or may not be PC (atleast at DG.) Suffice it to say I was not happy at all with the order.
Wow, OK I'll go check it out on the Watchdog.
Just read it. Sorry to hear, Thom, but, as everyone here knows, I am no fan. So not really surprised.
:(
Has always amazed me how they are a Top 30 co.
I've never had a problem with them, if a plant doesn't make it for ANY reason they will refund your $ or send a replacement no questions asked....I mean.... a critter ate one of mine and they sent me a new one, and that was def not their fault
Yes, but I had a high fail rate almost every time I ordered. After a while, it's just a hassle for those puny plants. And all the peanuts drive me nuts.
Hi Patti! Yes, I will plant them if I can find someone to do it. Now I am UNwatching this thread before I get in more trouble! It was a lovely visit.
I agree with Victor.. although I will still buy plants now and then from them.. just because of price.. and only plants that grow quickly
Well, if not for nothing, they are prompt...I guess that is some small measure of satisfaction. I will, however, never order from them again.
I did do some more damage today, at a local nursery...oye...I need to stop...lol. I'll post pics after this hail/sleet/thunderstorm thing is done, if there is daylight.
For me it just pays to stick with the ones on my gold list.
I read your comments .. sorry to hear it Thom.. that is horrible
I've never had a problem...small plants, but they catch up.....my clump of Blue-eyed blonde campanula is twice the size already, & looking great.
Nice!
very nice!!
