Spending spree pt #6
Pixie62560 Nice collection and I do love Astilbe Montgomery almost the most of all Astilbes. I just dug and divided some of them. We had to because we had a break in an underground electrical wire that was directly below them. All good now and I will have more of them to love. Patti

Thanks Patti!
nice combo Celeste!
Thanks! ^_^
wish mine got the pink ends like that.. that lack of sun thing again
Trying to figure out where I want to put it. Do deer like it?
mine is on the bottom of the retaining wall.. out of the line of fire ... not sure
Nice, Celeste. I do not have the willow. I hear they get quite large.
Karen
I really like that, can it be pruned to stay smaller?
Jen, that is huge! Weeze, yes, you can prune them.
Karen
mine has been in a large container for years... and no where near Jen's size.. only pruned it a couple times
Okay, that is going on my wish list. I wonder if Rarefind has it.
Weeze you free sat?.. for well sweep?
oooooh, possibly! I'll know for sure tomorrow!
just Michele and I... we are dying to see the boarder collies work the sheep
I totally forgot about it and I have a ticket to a secret garden tour in Allentown.
I wanted to see the Border Collies too....
Is there a time for the Collie show?
Allison, yes, they would stay smaller in a container and need a lot less trimming.
Karen
Weeze, the collie demo is 10, 12, 2 and 4
we are doing the 10:00 one .. in case it's hot out
the willow here is pretty big - i did trim it last year and it is now twice as large - gets more white new growth than pink - could be the sun deal - it is dwon by the pond here so plenty of water for it to drink.
Cute photo of the tulip herders! Maybe they'd like to try ducks.....son's friend got some for his Aussie, but the weasels got them......
They would eat the ducks. They recently got a squirrel and one time dined on our Vt neighbors chickens. Not good. The neighbors were understanding as they have a dog which always plays with our girls and one time when we arrived they went romping up for their usual visit and found that they had just gotten a mess of chickens which were not caged. Who knew? Tasty, but now we never let both of them off a leash at the same time. One off at a time is fine, but two is a disaster as they take off for the nearest trouble. Not the best behaved of Border Collies, but cute. Patti
They are cute...smart, too. We had twin airedales that worked together in a hunt....found raccoons & possums dead in the yard...had to have the raccoons tested for rabies, but they were not rabid, just stupid to come into a yard with dales......
You were right to get them tested for rabies and right again about tempting an Airedale as they are greatest of the terriers and can hunt down any quarry, handsome too and clever, bold and bouncy to boot. Great dogs. If I wasn't a border collie owner I would like a Airedale. Patti
Stopped at what used to be my go-to nursery today. Very different. Much more $$$. They did have some very nice large JM's, though, for decent prices. Autumn Moon must be pretty popular now. I saw a few of them.
My plant budget is totally gone...I need a few things, but not until I win the Lotto...haha....
Yeah like mine...this thing is HUGE
Hello all -- newcomer here --
I have this same "shrub" in my backyard. Bought it at a BB store about 12 years ago: it was labeled "pussy willow" and every single year I'm disappointed that it's not...but it's real pretty. I'll post a photo soon -- mine is probably 20 feet high and maybe as wide...
Ingrid
Someone will ID it for you, Ingrid......Patti, just realized you wrote you'd like an airedale.....LOL....this is my LAST one!
wow that's huge Ingrid... hello & welcome... well it is a willow.. but not a pussy willow

Oh I miss my dappled willows, and well all my northern plants, but I'll learn what will work where we now live.
Patti, love your herders, as I have two very lost collie herders... no sheep down here like up north.. My Saul (pictured) is not a happy camper, now Gracie doesn't mind as much as long as she is around me.... just like her granny, my sweet Acacia.
What a sweetie, herder of pelicans maybe?? :)
Prettiest coloring on your dog. I would say your Saul is a dappled willow on 4 legs. Love the idea of herding Pelicans. My dogs try to herd seagulls. Patti.
Saul is lovely.....spent this past weekend in NH with my late DH's inlaws...they have their 3rd tri collie......just a very sweet dog.....
Saul is a beauty!
you all are too kind on my Saul boy. He is such a sweet natured boy. When we lived up north he would go nuts in the yard trying to herd the geese as they flew over, so I would give in a take him down to the school and let him loose to do some round up herding to remove them from the field so the games could go on. LOL I do love the idea of pelicans. LOL
Here is his half sister my sweet Gracie with a little left over dinner on her nose. The two of them will be my last collies as I'm not getting younger and I figured if I'm blessed I'll have them for at least 5 more years before they cross the bridge to be with my other collies. Gracie isn't a herder at all she is like her grandmother Acacia and is most content to be at my side.
