Spending spree pt #6
There was a plant here when we first moved in and I thought it was Orange Perfection phlox. The fragrance was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
It never grew back, so I ordered some which came up the wrong color...I just never got around to ordering anymore again.
I saw a thread on the plant id forum, asking about an orange plant that looked exactly like phlox
Found out it was this
http://www.everwilde.com/store/Cheiranthus-allionii-WildFlower-Seed.html
I need to buy 'em!
I never great any wall flowers... but they do catch my eye now and then.. thought they were hardy here?
I didn't realize they smell..
Wallflowers smell great! I have some and love them.
ok guess I won't walk by one again
Maybe they should hop into my basket with the Stock then!
was thinking the same thing Celeste!!
GMTA
you got it!!
Thanks for the new thread, Jen. We needed it. Those wallflowers look nice. Would like to get some myself.
Karen
Mine just started blooming....I have the orange, but they come in other colors, too......just sprinkled a mixed pkg of wildflower seeds, & one popped up....I have it planted with blue linum, & I love the combo!
Oh, that combo does sound nice, Marilyn!
Karen
caladiums came today.. with a note that the #1's had a problem... but he doubled my order and sent #2's
That was nice!
I agree.. never have a problem with him.. other than he was late this year.. I usually get them started inside in cow pots.. guess I am just going to plant them out
Have not gone through mine yet. Just opened the box to air out.
one of mine at the bottom must have been moist and the bag broke.. might want to take a peek Victor
Uh oh!
Mine seem okay. Same substitution.
I didn't spend a cent today and brought home about a dozen rocks from my niece's MIL's place. Most are nicely covered in lichen. She also dug out a bunch of J M seedlings. I don't know which one but is colored like Bloodgood, but not the same leaf. One is about a ft. tall. I will do my best to baby them. But, I'm going away for 2 months - what would be the best instructions I can give to my DIL for taking care of them?
Spent about $500 this year on gardening stuff, (plants/ new hoses/ etc..), figure I'll spend another $300 by the time the season ends. About par for the course..
rocks jan:)
for the jm seedling i would just pot it up and plant it in the ground - jm's do not need to much water - depending on how it handled the move and the weather i would have her water it every couple of weeks. i have a dozen i grew from seed in pots in the ground and i never water them.
if the move caused some stress water it more
Thanks, Wha. I thought of you the whole time we were raiding the old rock wall.
Will do that for the seedlings. My niece says she always goes over to her MIL's and pulls the seedlings cuz her MIL just throws them away.
Looking at my bloodgood more closely - LOL- the seedlings do look like it.
Found some more interesting JM seedlings around. One of the great benefits of JM gardening.
I found one teeny one in my perennial bed....guess it's from the neighbor's Bloodgood......
So do you just pot up the seedlings for awhile?
Sometimes. Other times I grow/prune in place and sometimes transplant.
I find JM seedlings in my yard/gardens all the time.
Juat placed an order with Bluestone to get the 10% discount, which ends today. This will be my first order with them. Here's what I'm getting:
Campanula 'Blue-Eyed Blonde'
Brunnera 'Looking Glass'
Agastache 'Cana'
Clematis 'Princess Diana'
Agastache 'Purple Pygmy'
Geranium 'Orkney Cherry'
Geranium 'Cheryl's Shadow' (Jo, you made me want to get that one. Shame on you!)
Total with shipping is $101.74
Karen
Karen, I bought Blue-eyed Blonde this year, & have Orkney Cherry which I love!
nice list karen - joann made me buy a maroon leafed geranium too.
received notice that davidsans shipped the sensu jm yesterday - ordered a large one
I know bluestone won't break the bank.. but just for future reference Karen.. purple pygmy is easy to grow from seed
LOL! Bill, we are both under Jo's influence.
Oh well, Allison. Live and learn I guess.
Gotto go to work now.
Karen
Ordered more Eryngium Blue Hobbit from Crownsville. First time ordering from them, I think.
eh wouldn't be the first time I bought plants when I don't feel like growing from seed
:)
My seed project didn't fare very well this year.....forgot to water, not enough light, etc......
forgetting to water is a big issue... right now I am soooo tired of it
What does everyone pay per cubit yard for bulk mulch?
