I read on one of the threads about fertilizing their brugs with Bayer 3 in One rose and flower care every other week. It says on the bottle not to use on potted plants, but mine are all potted. I went ahead and used it one them, hope I don't kill them all. Chime in and let me know if you use it on potted brugs or just in ground brugs.

Thanks!

everything in my yard gets that pot, cup, asket , planter or in the ground, Crit.

Retta, Prayers for you...

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

That's so sad debra. What a disappointment!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Mayas two blooms hung on thru the storm tonight, I am glad..

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Just read on another thread about a brug called Pink Velvet that she said had a really nice scent. She had several starts from her mother plant, but had lost a lot of buds due to the heat also.

gorgeous....

Please, somebody...What does watering with Epson Salt solunion do??

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Adds trace minerals to the soil. Put about a tsp or so around a tomatoe and watch it grow.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

It also enhances the colors on iris and helps them put up more blooms

Winston Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh wow! so how much goes into one of those hose end sprayer mixers?? Sounds like I should use Epsom salts and frequent plant food on everything at least once a week.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

That's a good question birdie. I don't know about the hose end sprayer, and would have to go back and look at my notes too see what the ratio is per gallon of water

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I use whole cup in my mix in the sprayer.. things seem to like it.
Maya is getting the color in her blooms..

Debra, do you water everything with the salts? Do you remember the ratio for 1 gallon? I haven't located it.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I usually mix up a cup of salts, half cup of ammonia, some molassas( about a third cup) some tea tree oil, a couple squirts of dish soap, and some 20-20-20 in my galllon jug, top off with a 12 oz can of beer and pour the mix into my sprayer. ( a sprayer holds about 2 cups of mix) when I am transplanting, I add some melted multi b vitamins to the mix.

then I make a compost tea of aged compost mixed with buffalo pattie doo ( thanks, bonnie) put that in a huge blue tub of rain water, let it set with mosquitoe tabs, and use it as a drench around the bottoms of plants. Once a month I sprinkle sluggo all around the bases of the brugs, empty coffee grinds and throw all my potato and banana peels around the bottoms of the plants.

Once in a while I will spray the leaves with safer bug spray ( if I see bugs).

gm debra, mia loks like she could have some siamese in her.
the brugs are really nice.
we have such odd weather this yr,i don't think mine are going to do much.
they are still growing nicely, but still small.
retta

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Debra, how does she overwinter them?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

she over winters them in her basement, only her basement is a walk out from the garage, so she uses her tractor and trailer and kids to haul stuff in. I have doors, steps and not too happy son and dh to move my stuff. Mia has the cutest meow in the evenings and has crossed blue eyes. So cute!

More brugs..and Retta, brugs seem slow, they teach you patience, and you will see blooms I bet.

Council Bluffs, IA

debra,well i must have lots of patience,cause i just look,water,fertilise them and wait,wait,wait,lol
getting my sewing room ready for this winter, for all the brugs and other plants i want to over winter.
just really love this(no pic yet)light colored geraniam i bought this past spring, took it time growing and the blooms was well woth wainting for.bright pinkish red, almost neon blooms.
my cats henry and moose are doing fine.henry had a urinary track infection.i almost lost him but with the help of the vet and 200.00$ he is fine.
with the river its going to go on all summer and still the possiblity of flooding.but if it does ,it does, and don't if it don't.i'm not going to let it get me down.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

well, I have to move the brugs.. get rid of some, do something, because the new neighbors just took out all the shade trees and shrubs on the south side.. which also means the ones on the patio.. *sigh* Guess I will try to get them to the pear tree dogrun area, and sell a few of them.. I have gotten most of them out but, they are still cutting down trees here..

Thumbnail by joeswife
Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Why??? Are they cutting all the trees. Won't it make their home hot????

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

I hate to see good trees cut down. Those look like big ones too!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

it is a sin to cut down a tree, unless it is diseased. They were trying to prevent damage to our houses I guess, is what they said to me. They are leaving the God awful sycamore out at the back corner, but the big cottonwood that houses the squirrels nest comes down tommorrow, and they warned us of our cable being taken down for the day.. I bet DH doesn't stick around too long when that happpens, he will go out and shop for music. Me, I have to ready everything ( brugs) for the next week of triple digits.
These are out front in the front flower bed, they will be moved to the FULL SUN area this fall.

Thumbnail by joeswife
Council Bluffs, IA

oh debra, that is awful.sometimes people just don't care.
what is the name of those flowers you have to move, those are lovely.
i hope you are right about my brugs,i would really like to see a flower.
retta

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Did you, oh so polietly but also in a voice saying "are you STUFID????", suggest maybe they leave the lovely cottonwood for God's critters that live there, and that you 'really' like that tree????

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

okay, they are leaving the skinny honey locust, the cottonwood goes next weekend instead, they razed the whole yard and cut the tree limbs down over our roof, left that big tree, girl came over and I walked her down the fence and told her how special those plants were, just like last year with the kids to the north.. *sigh* DH and I have been watching them work all day.. Maya and Kaitlyn have buds again but it is triple digits all this coming week and getting to 106 on one day, so will watch the buds drop.. *sigh*
My brugs are going to be so unspoiled now..
