They may come back. Strip the leaves off and see if they put out new ones or cut off starts from the bottom.
Brugs almost all planted outside
I have my first one putting on buds. She had 5 but has dropped 2 of them. I don't know if it is the weather or the covering/uncovering them. They are still outside. I don't like to bring things in until the temps get consistant in the 30's. It is so much easier to water them outside!
Wow guys,
you really have some amazing Brugs there
which i could get some seed from you????
i'm in Australia and looking for some new strains that are not here in Australia
if your interested in helping please contact me

should I cut start sections from above or below the 'y'? My lovely triple pink lady is about 7-8' tall with a canopy of about 8 y's.
there is also a good sized offshoot from the trunk at about 4g'. (not sure if that side growth is vegetative or flowering'.
I would love to share cuttings of this lovely ladym but deffinately will nead coaching instructions about the process.
Sheri
Sheri, this is a pix of a cutting made above the Y that was 4 mos old. When I noticed the buds I brought it inside to enjoy the blooms. You will notice the pot is sitting on a box or the blooms would have laying on top of my printer.
Don't know why the amaryllis blooms with virtually no stalk but the color contrast was pretty with Dr Suess' yellow
blooms. All I ever do is put them in water with a little H. Peroxide until they form nubbies & then they go into a small pot. Have heard to make the cuts above the Y to get blooms but I'm certainly no expert. Just worked good for me.

Thanks Judy, those are beautiful. As cold as it has gotten so quickly can I still send cuttings? And do I just cut with a sterile knife, wrap the bottom end with slightly moist p towel, pack in newspaper & send? or is there something else I need to know?
Sheri
Thanks, Sheri. I don't think it would hurt to send them now. How far are they going? The weather is still very changeable here but not cold enough to affect them. Our summer was brutally hot & they were just in survival mode. Going to take some cuttings to send to a friend in La when this flush has finished. Probably only take a couple of days & I just put them in a dampened P towel & wrap them in bubble & put enough crumpled news paper to keep them from getting crushed. You can buy round tubes at the PO & they are great for sending brugs. Even though you have to buy the tubes it isn't much more expensive than the smallest flat rate box. But, I guess it would depend on how far you are sending it. Had some shipped right about Thanksgiving last year by a big grower & they were fine.

Judy
FYI: You can use toilet paper rollers and paper towel rollers to ship plants in too. Would have to tape 2 PT rollers together for the length. Great way to ship and 'free' too. DH wanted to know why I had all those in a box in my plant room. LOL Be sure to wrap the ends before you put them in the rollers.
Thanks, Crit. Great Idea. Hey, we could use Christmas wrapping paper rolls & they have the plastic inserts & you could just tape over each end. Same thing as the tubes you buy at the PO.
Hugs,
Judy
