Don't know why the amaryllis blooms with virtually no stalk but the color contrast was pretty with Dr Suess' yellow
blooms. All I ever do is put them in water with a little H. Peroxide until they form nubbies & then they go into a small pot. Have heard to make the cuts above the Y to get blooms but I'm certainly no expert. Just worked good for me.
