Thunder moved your post over
Momma talked to cousin...she was away, but home is fine...DIL has been sick/ flu ? but otherwise ok, power was on and off for a few days, but now seems to be staying on...very hard to take care of a little one all by yourself when you have to keep putting your head in the toilet :( so wish I could just run over there and take care of them
Betty, those Christmas socks are lovely !! and so is the block...you could send it to me...I don't mind 1/4 '' off size...
I love lemon, and most sour things...and I have had rhubarb. had a friend, many year ago that got it sent to her from family, and she made a strawberry rhubarb crumble !!! yum YUM :)
thanks for the warm wishes/prayers for my sons job interview...he says he thinks it went very well, spoke to two different people...so that's good...right???? they were very pleased that he told them he had no trouble with working any shifts, weekends and holidays not a problem...seems everyone has been saying they don't want this, don't want that...job market is terrible around here, can't believe people could be being so fussy!!!!
beautiful pictures Crissy :) hope Y'all get to stay away from the storms !!!! My DIL showed us some pictures of her area OMG whole neighborhoods just gone!!! terrible Her sports center got some damage, and due to the death of one student...they are cancelling / postponing lessons for a little bit...it will be a wait and see thing, on area getting cleaned up...I feel so bad for her, she has so very much to deal with... all by herself, no family close by...q
LOL Betty, I should get my first 2 week pay this Friday.
Crissy, Looks like a great vacation.
Thunder, did they give your son any indication on when he might find out if he gets the position? Do you think companies give priority to those with families when they hire due to so few jobs out there?
Feel for your DIL, you are right, hard being mom/dad/household keeper all on your own, then worrying about DH to boot...and now the flu..poor dear..
Glad your mom has heard from family members
You'll have fun thunder when you do this project, great way to use scraps
That's the time Holly you'll know if you made the right choice .. With paycheck in hand you'll weight all the pro' and con's as to wether or not it makes up for the time you are away from family and gardening..don't forget points for the good looking frenchman. Lol
LOL Betty, Dear Ric is picking up the slack around here. I just asked him tonight if my working was worth the extra he has to do. He said it will be when you are in Bonaire diving.
Hello To All !
Wow ! Lots of posts! wonderful ! Laura - how neat to rent a Garden.. we'll have to get the "Seedfolks" book over to you... I think it's a great opportunity to 'talk' gardening with folks and meet some new people! Do you think you'll be able to amend your soil at home and get some plants there too ?
((HUGS)) Dianne... still wish you were getting some sleep... that's got to be wearing on you ! Rhubarb pie sounds Great !
it's wonderful how so many folks enjoy rhubarb in so many different ways... BETTY ! Yes - we'll all have to play the lottery and the FIRST purchase will be a house on the Beach..... We'll have to draw to pick the Beach... I'll vote for the GUlf... Crissy the Pacific... Elf the Georgia area.... LOL.... Your quilt looks fabulous... I'm not sure what all the stuff you are talking about means... it looks great to me...
SO SO SO SO SO SO Glad you are "Loving" the book... "Seedfolks"... HERE IS my analogy: well.. as you know I've fallen in LOVE with this author... read "Whirligig" first and sent to Thunder....then read another book that touched me ... then read this one... "SeedFolks".... it reminded me SO MUCH of YOU! YOU are the first chapter... the little girl who starts everything... "we" are the folks in the chapters in between... THIS BLOG is the Garden... and you have brought us all together and we take care of each other and watch after each other.....all because of YOU and the Garden/Blog which you created for us to share......That is what the book is all about and I loved it and knew I had to send it to you once I finished reading it (twice)
Shirley/Tubby - so glad you are not doing Easter yourselves... sometimes just better to plan simpler things... and I know you have both been through a LOT lately.... so many ((HUGS)) For both of you !
Holly - yes we are Two "Peas ina Pod" as they say however you are MUCH more adventurous than I... I admire you with the scuba diving... but I'd be right there with you.. only on the beach reading a book LOL......LOVE the beach... I would feel in prison if I couldn't be at the beach at least several times each year. "Excuse" to this year... Nephew graduating from Ft Walton Beach High School May 19th and Niece getting married there on May 28th....
Beautiful pic ! That looks just like where Elf was ! beautiful driftwood !
LK !! My neighbor ! So THANK YOU For the articles! Very neat that the first one referenced Garrison Keillor because my MOM was IN LOVE with him... I actually took her to see him LIVE while she was doing Chemo... in New Orleans... that was 11 month before she passed... The first article says to plant Rhubarb in August as an Annual... the second article... VERY interesting... it's from Prairieville... well... I'm basically FIVE MINUTES from prairieville ! It says to grow year round... So I guess I have no excuse ... I'll have to try growing Rhubarb. I think I know where to put it too...will check with Hubby... he has to "approve" the planting as I've discovered with my RU Plants... (probably a good thing)
Deb..Yay Subway... I had Subway today too... Hope the boys appreciated you taking them to Guitar Center ! Are you caught up on all the Senior things? It may be wrong of me... but I'm letting DH take care of everything with DSD1...and of course he can't keep up. She hasn't even got senior pics yet... NOT my prob! LOL
Barb... So neat you are getting in touch with friends old and new ! That's got to be exciting... dust off the ole high school yearbook and all....
Crissy - looks like an AWESOME Vacation... LOVE the saloon pic... and the guys on steers... was looking for a pic of you on steers... they looked like they were selling pics... So Galveston beach not really gorgeous? more for the shopping and history it looks like....
Betty - will look up flights just to see... so If I flew into Buffalo... I'd have Deb pic me up and bring me to you? or rent a car? One Day ! LOL.... so sad for 2 weeks vacation...
Took DSD1 and the Norwegian Exchange Student to lunch yesterday.... You 'old gals' remember the Norwegian Exchange Student... DS's junior year.. they went to Prom togehter.... and she grew close to all 3 kids... she came back to visit. We talked about how in USA you get 2 weeks per year vacation your first 5 years ina company and she said that was "Illegal" in Norway ! makes me wish I lived in a country that valued time off!
Back in a bit... ((HUGS))
Mary
Hi Mary, I will have to look up those books, they sound great. Right now I have about 80 to read that Betty brought lol.
Today was busy, the boys were awesome and Dylan has his own acoustic guitar now. He has been saving for some time, so Shane helped him pick out the right one.
Shane just made me a cup of tea...and I am winding down for the night..
Came home with a horrific headache. Driving in the heavy wind....nasty rain and the boys, although good, it just tired me out. OHHH and I got my new contact ...so that was adjustment also.
Hopefully tomarrow I will stay home.....after I go shopping for Easter dinner and supplies. Forgot DH was home Friday also....grrrr!
Hugs to everyone, Prayers spread around also.....just love you all for so much. As Mary said....you are all our garden! We grow together.
Debbie
yumm on that Rhubarb Custard pie - looks similar to the one my mom used to make all the time.
Had rhubarb in our garden all the time, and it comes back so easily!
Crissy sounds like you and DH had a great time. Love the pics.
Debbie how nice of Shane to make you a cup of tea.
Need more coffee.
Morning all, looks like the eve morning of Easter long weekend feels more like Christmas eve morning, white stuff on the roof and on cars! Best I wear my woolies!
Mary I finished 'Seedfolks' finally and thoroughly enjoyed it..Analogy to all of us is right on the button! Will send it off to Holly next time I'm at the post office and perhaps after she finds time in her busy schedule she can ship it off to Laura, hhm perhaps I'll send to Laura first as she'll be able to read while camping then she can send to Holly who by then might not be working. I think the flight to Buffalo was about $258.00 takes me a couple of hours to get to the airport should Debbie not be able to make your arrival..feel free to book anytime. Lol. Ooh so you might get to plant rhubarb, that's exciting kudos to you for letting hubby deal with DD!
Shirley, do hope there was time in your busy day yesterday to relax and chat with tubby and that both are sleeping in this morning
Susan, hearing about all the flooding happening in Manitoba and Alberta ..not happening to your neighborhood is it? Knee all better?
Debbie glad you got to relax last night and have Shane make you tea..and so he should, you are such a good mom..feeling like you are and yet still playing taxi! Contacts, what safe measured can you take NOT to misplace them?? Lol
Holly, Ric's comment must have made your heart flutter! Takes awhile to get into a routine and once the work at the house is done it will be
much easier, you'll be able to sit amongst your prettiest...
Bev, will the weather co-operate so that you van play in those lovely gardens? Was thinking at lunch to go walk the Garden Gallery..always makes me feel better.
Dianne, how are you both coping? Frankie's aren't saying you will have a sunshine weekend either! Might be time to bake and stalk up..
Will have to decide if I'm cooking Easter did/din..know if I don't I'll feel worse sooo might sit and make grocery list just invade I decide to go for it! Am hoping tomorrow that I can get my hair cut, perm only lasted about five weeks, I'm nearing the witch look

Laura, you leave tonight? Means a lot of organizing even thought most of what is needed stays in the trailer...do you have pets and if so do they go with you?
As Debbie would say "Off and running" here. I have a dreaded 2 hour apptment at the dentist and DH has his Physio and a 1 hr apptment at the dentist.I have no idea how DH is going to be able to sit in the dentist's chair as it is all he can do to climb back into the Escape after Physio. DH is in tremdous pain and is quite angry at himself that he can't ddo even the simplest chore. Sure hope there is a turn around for him soon. Still have some double vision in 1 eye with the pounding headaches but will take something to take the edge off of the headache before I leave. I must say after having these blasted headaches off and on for over 2 years I am beginning to become quite blase about them.
Have a great day everyone. Weather forecast here as Betty said is dull, rainly, windy and gloomy all weekend.
Barb I am so glad to hear your 'good' news about your cateract surgery coming up. The difference it made in my sweet dad's life was phenomenal.
If I don't get back till much later have a great Easter everyone!
Dianne
We are planning on leaving out about noon. My oldest DD has to work so she takes care of the DOG. We would take dog with but all she does is bark and will not stop.
Wishing you great weather Laura and family. I know you will have a fantastic time! Where are you headed?
Dianne
Happy Easter Dianne. I don't thave but five minutes thismorning as Sean isn't feeling well and i'm off to his house to stay while Mom goes to work,, I'll try to check in later.
Have a wonderful day all. The sun is shining here but will be rainy, windy and gloomy all weekend.....
We are going down th Va. Calling for rain tomorrow. But we will see.
Hello All, I have a day off work and I think it is going to be a nice one. Ric, made soup last night and Josh's girl made homemade bread, rolls and cheese cake. I'm picking up my parents and bringing them down first to see my spring bulbs and then over to Josh's house so they can see all the work he has done on his house in the last month. We will have lunch at Josh's house. It will be a nice get away for them. I think I mentioned back after Christmas that I stripped the wall paper off his dining room and hallway alcove walls. He skim coated the walls and painted them plus he put in bi-fold doors to cover the laundry area replacing the drop down blind that was there. He also built a chest and a bookcase so there is a lot to see at his house. They have been wanting to come down to see everything he has been working.
Good Morning!
Was up at 3 with Tubby. He was having pain and finally talked him into an old pain patch that we use when first diagnosed. I will call the Oncologist today to get him to order some new ones as his reg. Dr. is out of the office today. I tried giving him a pain pill, but just threw it back up. He is sleeping right now and is resting okay. Hopefully the pain will subside. The pain would be coming from the cancer in the bones.
My girlfriend from work came and got my shopping list and did all that running around for me. She had to get big bags of dog food and feed for the chickens plus groceries and meds. I really did appreciate that. She only got a few things wrong, so will have someone take them back to Wallie world and exchange it for the other. His girls came out mid afternoon for awhile. We sat and visited. They left the kids with their Mom. I doubt that I'll have Easter, I haven't been hungry and Tubby doesn't eat, so will wait and see what happens.
Laura have a great trip and good time. Hope the weather cooperates.
Holly the seeing the paycheck will help and knowing that you don't have to pay for your trip out of the household budget will make you feel better about working. Well maybe. It is hard to change to give up those hours you are use to having at home, but hopefully will be worth it in the end. It's only seasonal job, right? Enjoy your visit with your folks and it's nice they will get to see all the work that your son has done on his house.
Debbie glad to hear you got your contact and hope that adjustment doesn't take too long. It's nice someone waits on you once in awhile.
Crissy those are great pictures of vacation. I too got a chuckle out of the guys on the steers. It was fun to travel there in your pictures. Thanks! Hope you get caught up on all your work at work.
Sorry some of you are having such nasty weather. We are to get rain today into tomorrow morning and then a nice weekend. That will be nice for all the Easter egg hunts they have going on for the kids. Our weather sounds iffy for next week. Me I just take it a day at a time.
Barb sorry to hear Sean is not well, hoping it's nothing serious.
Dianne I would dread that dentist appt. also. It's time like this when I hear of people spending so much time in the dentist chair I'm thankful for my dentures. I don't miss those days at all. I had to get dentures when I was 23, boy is that a long time ago. I am thankful that mine fit so well I don't have to use anything to hold them in. I had an old army dentist when a child and he was not gentle. We only got pain killer when he was pulling the tooth otherwise you suffered. Those were the days. I wish your DH could get some relief. Can they not give him anything to help with the terrible pain? I ache for him.
Betty you will be beautiful and feel better once you get your hair done. I love the socks, they are darling. The block looked so nice, sorry to hear it is short. That would be disappointing. I'm sure you will find a place for it.
For those of you who I missed, Sorry. Just want to wish everyone a good day and will chat later.
Shirley
Knew you would all be bust today..Laura enjoy your time away..
Darts Dianne, not a fun way to start a long weekend..hope both appts
Go well..poor hubby..about 10 years before Roger passed on he had a fall off of a car carrier, did major damage to his spine, was in one of the best hospitals in Toronto, iffy if he would be able to walk again but Lord blessed us and he did, but lordy some days I just had to fly the coop as he'd get so frustrated...know you have some of the same days..
Ahhh Barb, poor little fellow..grandma will be all he needs to get better..just don't catch it!
Shirley sending big hugs to and to Tubby. Hope the pain patch will help.
Off and running to everyone enjoy the weekend and have a Happy Easter.
Shirley, sorry that Tubby had a difficult night..wouldn't you know his doctor would be away right when you need him to order patches..guess it would be difficult to get Tubby to emerge so the doctors could give him a prescription?? guess waiting is the better idea especially if you do have some pain killers on hand..
You are blessed having such a nice friend (cherish my earthly angels) who would do the majority of your running around..that's a lot of lugging for sure! If one of the kids were kind, they'd cook Easter dinner at their home and bring a care package to save you cooking.
It snowing and blowing here..drats that's not good.
Called hairdresser and she is working tomorrow instead of Saturday, works well for me..get it chopped off and book apt. for another perm before I go away so it will be less work while travelling.
Off to call StoneCottage Quilt shop..she closes at 5pm..I drove like a madlady and got there on the stroke of 5pm and she was gone..sooo couldn't get more supplies
Another garden friend posted this link..just had to chuckle, think the camera man was in my home taking film..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oHBG3ABUJU
Shirley - hope Tubby has a good night tonight.....
Betty - my knee is as my knee is. You'll look Be-A-U-Tiful with your hair all done up ^_^
As for flooding - Manitoba is having a lot in the southern rural areas.
Calgary, they say, is only 3 hours away from a drought, so for the moment I think all the gardeners in Calgary are happy. We're starting to get green in the bare patches where there's no snow, and actually we're almost 60% clear of snow. It's in the shady spots still, and some people in their shovelling have built up banks of it. Where it was normal amounts it's gone!
LOL Betty - that's too funny!!!!!!
Morning everyone! Shirley, sorry to hear about Tubby not feeling well, and not sleeping good! Hope you both get a nap sometime today!
Betty, so your off to get your hair done! I know I feel so much better when I get mine done! It just seems to pick up out spirits some how! Sure hope you catch the fabric shop open! How was your blood pressure readings today? Praying they are dropping every day?
Sorry to hear your still getting snow up north!
We had a few storms go across Texas last night, but as usual, because of the hills we have here, they always seem to split one way or another, and go around us!
Loved the video Betty, I have had so many days like that!
Snow has stopped LindaKay, just awfully cold but that's ok..gives me an excuse to play inside..how about you??? now that you are getting therapy, do you notice an improvement in your fingers..lordy that's been what, 1 month? At least if you aren't able to accomplish gardening you can sit and enjoy the sunshine this weekend!
Hair is tomorrow..just won't hold a curl!
Been looking at patterns on the internet, came up with a few ideas..called StoneCottages and she said she'd wait until I arrive just after 5:00-apparently is was a slow day yesterday so she left at 4:30..no wonder I missed her..said though she's out of Steam and Seam, drats that's what I needed the most so have decided to run to the fabric shop down the block and pick some up, if they have other material that suits my needs then I'll pick it up there on lunch hour and save myself a trip into Craighurst after work..just got to get those pot holders done and ready to mail..
Susan, so what you are saying is it's not camping weather right???? lol
Well, I got the putty from therapy, and was told to go home, and pinch the two colors, yellow and blue, till it made gree. Well, I sat here for about 2 hours pinching, till the putty turned green. When I woke up yesterday morning my finger was so swollen, it looked like I smashed it all over again. I called the Dr. and she said to stop pinching, and keep it in ice! So that is what I have been doing, and so far, the swelling has not gone down! Trying to keep it elevated above my heart is not easy, so I just sit here, and get the icepack about every hour or so...
wow, LindaKay, cannot believe that although you are doing exactly what they are telling you that your fingers are getting worse..could they have made an error in checking the injury and maybe looked further?? boy oh boy, that is NOT good news at all!
Good morning, or I mean afternoon!,lol.
Yesterday drove into the City to get the floral, lol took me about 1.5 hours to figure out what I was doing...Kept changing my mind.
In the finale, decided to go with Roses. Her dress is so, so elegant...Just finished both the Bride and Maid of Honors Bouquets, just need to add a touch of ribbon. ..Now I have to run to JoAnnes and get the tape for butoniers, lol mine is so old it's dried out!
LOL, going blind with the color of MOH, so just stuck with red rosettes and white carnations...
oops got to get Breenie back to school, be back in a bit.
Look forward to seeing your creation Judy..I'm sure you made a great choice..which Joyce are you doing them for??? curiosity killed a cat..lol
Judy, that is so pretty! You have the talent to do the flowers!
This is the Maid of Honor bouquet or she can use it for the throw away one.
If i remember correctly, I'm doing wrist corsage for the MOH....the flowers will be the same as in this one, as well as boutonier for Best man...
I decided to wait on the corsages for the Mothers, grandma and the other two...Will see everyone this weekend so going to find out what color they will wear.
Linda Kay, I am so sorry to hear your fingers are even worse from the putty therapy!
Sure sounds incredibly painful too, send you some healing Armwraps, very gentle ones.
Well, now I am trying to play catch up again! Everyone gone again for the moment...yippeee, just found out no school tomorrow! Sweet, getting tired of waking up and driving at 5:45 every day!! This morning i came home and actually went back to sleep until 8, that was really nice.
So, I took a few pictures of the new bath...
Here is the shower.
The guys still have to finish up, but I sure hope it's soon!
So I am slowly getting things back in order.
