Where have you been??? I saw some bulbs you sent me and was wondering how the heck you are!!!!Been missing you, Enid, so glad you are back. You doing o.k.????

Enid, OK

Sorta ok - good enough anyway.
So here I am, and I've been missing you too! I will have to tell you later about my whirlwind of a life!

Nettie - are you still here? Here I am - still not in jail...but none the smarter either.
Guess what I've done now.....I posted on freecycle for irises, told folks I would come over and rework their iris beds if I could have the extra loot.
So, this lady gives me her phone number - her husband passed 15 years ago and LOVED irises. I am going over there tomorrow to start to work...I can't imagine how many irises were lost due to neglect, climate changes or whatever, they are gone now. But I get to have starts of everything that is left; at one time they were show quality flowers. I am excited and kicking myself in the rear at the same time!!

Hornell, NY(Zone 5a)

I'm off bridge watch duty and back home for awhile. Glad everybody is back from the storm, terrible mess in the southlands.

We've been watching British TV, it has been a nice day for a wedding! Hope they all live happily ever after.

Beautiful irises from all of you, mine are coming in a week or two.

Sorry to hear Tubby had to leave us, I've had several conversations with him in the past. Alway enjoyed his outloook on life.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Beautiful iris Enid

What a great idea! Offer to clean out iris beds for the left overs. Or any other kind of flower for that matter. May have to give that a try!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Enid "open mouth, insert foot" The problem is we have all done it. But that is what makes us human.

HI Enid, happy to see you back and I LOVE those beauties! What a nice mixture!

Booneville, AR

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Here is a pretty picture for y'all... the most beautifully colored Glad I think I have ever seen;o) Did any of you ever trade with makshi (Dianne)? We had a trade in process when she passed away last year. Her son Andy contacted me and asked if he could send me a bunch of his Mom's bulbs. This was one of them and it is even more special because of the circumstances under which I acquired it. If I ever do a memorial garden it will get moved there in honor of Dianne.

That IS gorgeous! Mine have not started blooming yet. Still early for them here. Did have this to open today with a few more.

OMG nettie. Glad you had the rake and weren't using your hands. I hate those creepy critters too. Just isn't natural to be able to move across the ground and up trees, etc., without arms or legs. YUCK!!!!

Booneville, AR

hi everyone , guess what more rain wish it would stop son said tf it doesn,t stop we will see more flooding do you believe that. im sick of it. love and hugs nettie

Enid, OK

Nettie, I think you need more than hip boots! I swear I ain't out stealin irises - I am reformed...I don't stalk peoples gardens at night anymore, scared of the police, I think they read my posts and were watching me. LOL

On to serious matters, I have found tags for several of the irises I am rescuing...so far I have: Cayanne Pepper, Claverack, Best Bet and Apollo One. Then of course there are the NOID ones, there are lots of those.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

enid, I would love to have some if you get more than you can use. Just let me know. You can dmail me if you wish

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

My best friend use to think I was terrible, because I would go to some of the old country cemetaries and 'take care' of the flowers that needed thinning and whathaveyou. Mainly peonie and iris. Was getting a nice collection until the divorce and ex wouldn't let me go back and get starts of any of my stuff. Like he really wanted them. :-(

Enid, OK

Jerk! Just tell me where he lives Crit, you are close enough I could go yard stalking up there...if Nettie won't tell anyway,.

Enid, OK

And I don't think tending to the cemetary flowers is a bad thing...someone needs to keep those plants thriving!!

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

LMBO ........... that's what I thought. I kept telling her that, but she was afraid to take any that I dug up, afraid it might jinx her. It was a hoot. She always went with me though.

So many of those old cemetaries don't have any family that tend to the graves anymore, so I felt I was doing a service, and my pay was the 'leftovers'. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!!!

You hit the nail on the head. He was a jerk at the end. But you know what they say, what goes around comes around. He will get his just reward. (snickering evily)

Enid, OK

Oh, and come around it does! Karma will get ya every time.

Actually, I have thought about doing the same thing in the cemetaries here. Most are little bitty rural cemetaries and the families are either all there (in the cemetary) or have long ago moved off. We had thought seriously about planting peonies on my dad's grave in Colony KS. The whole family is there and of course when I meet my demise, that is where I will go as well. Since we live 5 hours away we didn't figure a new plant would do well- the mowers would probably chop it off anyway - how nice it would be to have someone that would watch over the plantings. I would really like things to be pretty when I have to move in there.

IMHO the other thing to consider is most anything growing in the old cemetaries is old. The old varieties should be cherished - if you want to prowl the cemetaries let me know, I will come up and visit - you are only 2 hours away!

Booneville, AR

enid you are a mess girl, but i still like you crit i have taken rose cuttings from the cemetary made my dh go with me not verry good roses most have been let go to long.wood grow better if they were taken better care or. most are old ramblers. and will take over so i stoped doing that. love and hugs nettie

Special forces killed Osama Bin Laden today and they have confirmed it is him! Maybe now the soldiers can come home.

Booneville, AR

that is great mekos i pray they can come home that would be wonderfull. love and hugs nettie

Booneville, AR

going to turn off puter another storm comming i can hear thunder good night love nettie

Enid, OK

good morning all! I am sure glad they finally got him Mekos but I wouldn't expect soldiers home any time soon. I seriously doubt that the whole thing is over - however, the USA made great strides yesterday! We are one nation under God - the president said so!
I was so proud of his speech I even shed a tear!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

They will just find someone else to chase. they already got Bin Laden buried in the Ocean from what I understand. We can just pray.

Yes, I guess but I was hopeing some could come home now. At least he is gone!

Enid, OK

Oops, managed to send that and I wasn't done yet!

They are calling for frost here tonight...doesn't anyone know it is May! Good grief, I don't have enough sheets to cover everything and I will be darned if I drag all that crap back inside! This is not good

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

That sounds like a good plan enid. We will have to prowl around and find some old country cemetaries that need 'tending to'.

I'm so glad I have procrastinated about moving my stuff outside. Calling for 38* here tonight.

I bet some shark has a belly ache today! They said their religion says they have to do something with the body within 24 hours. Shark food sounds good to me.

Booneville, AR

good to see all of you on here visiting and messing around garden talk would not come up for me tonight all i could get was adds for different products im not instd and anything for sale not my thing if you know whit i meandid sny of you have that problem.tonight nettie

Enid, OK

Those roll over ads are a pain! I get hung up on those all the time Nettie.

Lots of cemetaries that need lookin after here Crit, we could even meet half way and go to jail in some town we have never heard of! Can they arrest us for that? Graveyard plant robbing? Would make a great headline anyway.

I can't believe they are calling for frost, I didn't wait...soon as it warmed up the plants got moved out - hope they survive - I am not going out to cover them tonite, I am way too tired.

Booneville, AR

ok ladies find and ask someont for permishion to take cuttings people are verry nice about letting you take cuttings. im not feeling good enough to come and get you out. and now is noy a good time to be behind bars. not much heat in thost oklahoma jails. love and hugs nettie
