She's about to...59... Spring is here!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Faye, please show us your pretty blooms???

Fruity, looks like your iris's are going to be purple? Yep, I see the rain guage! Is it full?

Hey Neener, I just love those hummers! Sounds like you have a lot of blue jays at your place. We have jay birds here, but no blue jays!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Good for you, Neener. I've been willing you hummers since the 4th when we saw our first one. Nothing like a pick-me-up courtesy of Mother Nature.

Not sure yet, LK, since they were new last year. Am waiting to see them bloom for the first time and noticed the purple tinge too. Rain gauge is empty...for the moment with more on the way tonight. I've emptied it several times...over 1" twice , 1/2" a couple of other times.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, if you get too much rain, you can always send some here! We have not had a drop of rain for almost 3 months, and it is soooo dry here!

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Back tomorrow when I'm rested was a long drug out 6 hrs of labor today GOOD NITE ALL .

Hi, I put down some more blocks for another raised bed, pulled a few weeds, and oh yeah, went to home depot at lunch.....so I had plants to bring in! rofl. So I got a few things done after work. Watered plants in the garden room, will be glad when I can move them outside so much easier. Sides that room is the pits!

Sounds like everyone is getting rain except for poor Texas....we are suppose to get rain tonight again. Wish it would warm up a little, they were calling for frost this morning but the clouds didn't move out thank goodness.

Come on Faye we want to see.....

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Texas is really, really dry and Oklahoma is just really dry! We all need rain badly. All the rain keeps going north and east of us. Worst drought in the western part of the state in a long time. I forgot what they said.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

How I wish I could, LK. Are you or Patti near any of the TX wildfires?

Frost? We hit 85 today and had to wipe sweat from my forehead unloading groceries, but that might not just be from our warmer weather...lol

Our night time temps look like smooth sailing, and am not looking forward to schlepping pots from upstairs to the back porch, starting tomorrow, but will be glad to have the extra space back in my kitchen. It's gonna look pretty naked.

Speaking of kitchens, did you decide on your new hardware yet, happ?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

we missed our rain too, i had to water. *sigh* I love that kitty pic so cute! hmmm your iris are in full sun? I have some in full sun, hope to see bloooms soon. I sure miss my hummers, but the robins, cardinals, blue jays, chickadees, flickas, downy woodpeckers, mourning doves and hawks are al about, oh so is the brown thrusher. Saw a Purple Martin scouting out the place, but papa Jay shooed him away.

Hoping to see more pics of gardens please.
Joyce, really? Frost? ugh!

Happy Anniversary, Patti, and many more :) This bloom's for you.....the first this year of Iris "Immortality" that opened today.

Susan that Iris is beautiful. Please tell me how you keep the names on the labels, as hard as I've tried, I can barely see any of mine.
Debra, really don't know if the Iris are fragrant or not...but will find out tomorrow. Pretty Lily's Debra.
Faye

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Awwwwwwwwww, thanks Fruit Loop. I appreciate that!

I love the smell of iris. I thought they all had some kind of scent or another. My purple and white ones and dark purple I use to have smelled wunnerful!!!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Oh my, Patti & Debra, I never thought about smelling Irises but did get a hint of a sweet scent while we were walking the gardens tonight. Not much else is blooming in that area so now you've got me wondering...

I'll bring my label maker to the RU, Faye, and show you how it works. I just put the labels on cut-up recycled blinds found at Goodwill or yard sales. Some labels I've had going on 3 years now when I got back into gardening. They still look brand new and haven't faded at all like a Sharpie pen will when exposed to UV light. Now the kitties digging up labels is entirely another story....call me neurotic but I also have paper diagram as a back-up. At least for most plants.

Very smart lady! I tried the paper diagram once lol didn't work for me. I think I tried to make the garden as big on paper as it was on the ground...ran out of space and gave up.
Love you lady!
Faye

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

That's funny, Faye. I don't know if I got too busy or just down right lazy about mid-way through the growing season last year, and didn't add new plants to my paper plot. If only we had photographic memories?! Half the time I can't remember what I did yesterday.

It rained today and didn't get a chance to sniff the bloomin' Iris. Crazy weather, rainy today in the 50's and tomorrow's supposed to be sunny in the 80's.

Happy Easter to All You Dear Friends!

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Got to 90 here today. Big rains 15 miles east of me, but not a drop here!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm hoping something builds tonight west of us and we get some. I know I sound like a broken record, but we need rain so badly. I'm half afraid to plant much, or my water bill will be out of this world! I've been watering the lily bulbs I planted. Haven't put out my canna's or brugs yet. Along with everything else I already had that I overwintered. Step-son was suppose to come out this weekend since we were gone last weekend, but his mother put an abrupt halt to that! She always seems to have something he needs to do when he is suppose to come out. ~sigh~

I want my iris to bloom. All I have are pointy leaves.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

we got about half an inch.. yahoo!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Dry is not a problem here, warm is not a problem here, now cold and wet and windy is a real problem here. We have had a ton of rain, missed all the tornados tho, can't believe the airport and St. Louis got hit...wowzer

Well I am going to buck up and get dressed in all my warm clothes and go work on the raised bed some more, then dig some more strawberries plants and figure out what I am taking to the the flower sale the end of May.

Yeah it is nice to have a very handy DH most of the time but when you know they can do it but you can't spur them, then it is quite annoying, plus we have been building this house forever! You guys need any work done, I can sheet rock, tape, mud, sand, cut, stain, and put up trim, hang light fixtures, put up or down tile, paint, I think I have done everything except maybe plumbing....rofl. DH is an equal opp. teacher....rofl

No I haven't picked the hardware but I think now I know what I want finally. The cabinets are so pretty I didn't want to mess them up with the wrong stuff.

Well out and about for a little while if I can stand it, right now it is 50 and cloudy and windy......

so glad for you and the rain debra. it isn't much, but it is a start. Can't believe all the rain was within 15 miles of me yesterday. UGH. Something about I-44, the storms travel along it. Wish they would travel on my side of it for a while!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Sniffed the Irises and yes! they smell sweet. Here's another clump today. You were right about the color of these, LK. Great eye.

WOW, such pretty iris everyone. I see iris all over the place planted in shade and around/under trees that are blooming to beat the band. I just don't understand why mine aren't. They are 1/2 on top of the ground, I thinned them thinking that might help, I water them, and they just stick their tongues out at me. :-~

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Those are beautiful blooms, Faye. Keep 'em coming.

Happy Easter, everyone! I love ya'll.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Debra,Linda and Crit...AMEN! God is alive!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Snapped this beauty yesterday, good thing as the rains hit again today. The weather guy said hit or miss showers and a lot of them hit, but am not complaining since tornado watches were out not too far from us.

Anybody have scapes on Daylilies yet? I found my first two yesterday on "Wild Horses".

Thumbnail by FruitOfTheVine
Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Nothing on my daylilies, but my iris are just popping.
