awwww, thanks you guys... my birthday started with dinner at Applebys last night with my sis in law, Paula, and a tall red beer with a plate sized chicken fried steak. College girl made me my favorite strawberry jello whipcream cake, while she was home, so had it on the counter all day ( I took off work for today) and scooped out a spoonful when ever I passed it. Cleaned house ( it needed it badly) Son had come over Saturday and carried all the plants upstairs thru the house out to the back, so there was real DIRT everywhere up there, down here it is normal LOL..
Got my summer work clothes out and washed, winter ones put away, got the two umbrellas out for the back patio, put them up over the tropicals.
all my children called and sang to me, Hubby came home from work and assembled an arbor for me, I took a picture of a zebra swallow tail on my lilac, watched some squirrels trim the elm tree for me, and saw an osprey up in the redbud checking out the place.
Went back in cleaned under my bed, got the quilts and spreads and stuff put under there, started a goodwill box. Came downstairs to move all the packing stuff and seed boxes out of the dining room. Went to Sons tonight to go to Just Catfish for a grilled catfish fillet on a bed of greens with pine nuts, pecans cranberries and such, fried okra, a margarita. Ex Hubby surprised everyone on my DD's side of family and they all came over to Son's to see me before we left, surprised the heck out of me.
Came home in time to watch the last half of ncis, take a luxury BATH ( I never do that, showers only) facial mask, etc etc, hubby brought me in a small glass of baileys, after that I bathed the Duke Dog, (since there was water in the tub with soap I thought what the heck) , had a Klondike IceCream Bar, and here I sit, with Shea it isn't so on my feet and the socks someone sent in a swp box, some kind of hand stuff on my fingers and hands, Duke here right beside me, all nice and clean and cooled off. DH is asleep upstairs in his chair, poor thing. All that is left to do that I wanted to get done is re-paint my fingerz and toes.
Oh , I did manage to re-pot some brugs, separate some that I am sending out since they LOST THEIR TAGS... ( All of mine are named, but you know the rules)
I painted on two rocks for Charles Grimaldi and Betty Marshall their names as well as re-did their name tags, after all, they were among my first two NAMED brugs.
I did have a gripe session with myself about cleaning house on my birthday, but when I looked at my "want to do" list, sure enuff, it was there.. LOL
Funny, I do not feel a day older.. thank you for all the well wishes. I love you all..

Good Lord when you take a day off you get a lot accomplished. Kudos to you. That cake sounds lovely. I can taste it from here.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Sounds like a wonderful day, except for the housecleaning....yuck, but if it is something you had on the 2du list, then that is a good thing. I agree, you get a lot done in a day, I'm tired just reading it all. lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow Debra, you know how to fill the day! Glad to hear you had a great day, and finished it with a luxury bath! Did you get your fingers and toe's done?

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Glad you had fun things in there for you Debra, you desired it.....it felt good to have everything clean I bet.....

Had to laugh about taking a fork full of cake when you walked by. Best way to eat sweets I think....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debra, look what is blooming! It is so prety. One of the morning glories you sent! Look at the white edges!!!

OHHH Debra, I'm so sorry, I didn't know it was your Birthday. Happy late birthday from me. Gosh, like Crit, made me tired just to read it. But I think I do remember when I could work all day too...goodness, that was so long ago. I did get quite a bit done outside today with Ray's help. Everything is coming up and is making the yard such a pleasure to be in, and with the temp. not so hot, I love working in the dirt. Will show one end of my yard and it will take 3 pictures to show it.

Did anyone else get the new Breck's Bulbs catalog? The Daffodil bulbs are so beautiful. Of course it's a $25. free offer on the purchase of $50. Man did I want those bulbs, but even with the $25. free, I can not justify the cost because of the expense of my eye surgery's.
I so love Daffodils, I cannot believe I am the only one. Talk to me! lol
Crit, I too love Irises, well any bulb or tuber.
Love & Hugs to everyone of you.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I'll send next week after I get my check. Bloombuddy said to mail with greenery still attached. Do you think it will hurt them if I fold the tops over or should I try to send them without bending them?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susie, where is Margaret?

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

LK, that is GOR-g-ous!!!!!!!!!! Do you know the name of it?

marti...that is really different. Can you put me down as well? I don't think bending them would hurt anything. IMHO

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susie, the tag say's NOID on the lily! Do they multiply?

Debra, the JMG that I posted a few days ago is not on variegated leaves!

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Ok Crit. I'll send some your way also.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Lillies easily multiply. In a year's time one bulb will produce several new ones. You can even take a scale from a bulb, stick it in the dirt without any fuss, and root a new plant. You just have to be patient and wait a couple of years for them to mature and bloom, like I'm doing now with several I've started from scales. And last year I cut through a Lily bulb you sent me, happ, with the intent of moving it to another location. Both parts of the bulb self-healed and now have two healthy plants.

Go for it, LK! Your Lily bloom is just gorgeous. "Dream Catcher" I found at Lowe's a couple of weeks ago is just about to.....

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

mary have they BLOOMED For you already this spring ?? If so then I Do not see any reason not to cut off the tops . if they have not bloomed then I Would say wait till after they bloom for you & Let them die back before you dig & Send
about how many bulbs do you plan to send ??? in a box any Idea ??? .

LK : Margaret went into the Hospital yesterday Am for a total Knee replacement it went well so far , but dadddy is a mess without her here so i have to now spend my days here is the house with him so I Now have all my Kitchen cupboards cleaned out Golly Took out 2 boxes of Dishes we don't use that were pushed to the back of the cupboards NOT NO MORE :) Lots More Room & no more dishes falling out on me :)

that was just the top ones tomorrow I will tackle the bottom ones :)
so guess i better settle back have coffee ready in the AM Please :))))

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh goodness, sorry to hear she is in the hospital! Sending prayers for a speedy recovery! I have been through that, and it is not fun!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Amen to that, Susie, prayers with you and your dad and Margaret.
LK, that is prolly a sunsmile then, very cute. Can't wait to see the others bloom for you.. and if you need more kinds, you just holler up. Been busy at work, so only getting two boxes a one packet out a week right now. trying to get everyones stuff to them before I start driving to Arkansas everyweekend to be with my sister. If I have promised something to anyone here, plz know I have the stuff, just running out of time everyday.
Hard for me to stay up past midnight now for some reason.

hugs to all..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debra, how is your Sister doing through all the treatments?
Morning everyone, coffee is ready!

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

ddejay, yes they have already bloomed. There maybe more to bloom. I just don't know. I'm not sure how many bulbs I can send. I'll just have to see how many I can get my nephew to dig up for me. Right now I have about 2 dz plants. That was one clump. I'm going to get more clumps.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

hay marti, i would just want two bulbs, so don;t send more than that okay? do you want an orchid iris in exchange? it is white.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Debra, will an orchid iris be ok outside in my zone 6b? If so than yes I'd love on in trade.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

they should be happy there, think they will be happy anywhere but here right now. i am keeping two fans is all in my memory garden.
. joe is digging this weekend.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Has anyone heard of giant iris? I saw them at home depot yesterday! Wow, were they pretty, nice tall and skinny leaves, with the tiniest, and darkest purple blooms! They must have been 4 foot tall!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

No I haven't Linda Kay but sound wonderful!
Didn't make it to Home Depot this week at lunch. I will have to check and see what we have up here!
