She's about to...59... Spring is here!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I lost some brugs too, Ang, it happens. We will load ya up again, no worries. I lost ones I paid for and that hurts, but no way will it let my day be ruined for very long. I have tried NOL and NN and Adeline for two years and lost them every year, so it isn't meant to be I guess. I am glad my Missbhavin made it, she is outside in the ground RIGHT NOW. My biggest mistake in winter is overwatering.
Faye, I wish I could have surgery, I am so tired of wearing trifoculs just to see. It is not fixable, and I am going to eye doctor to prolly get stronger ones, as if they aren't strong enough already. How's your DH?
Sure wish it would rain, we are 2 and a half inches behind for the year..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Faye, glad you had your surgery. Wow, wish I could have lasic surgery, but at $1000.00 per eye, it may be awhile!!!
Were low on rain here too! It has been 56 days since any rain, and it looks like it will be awhile longer. It is supposed to be 101 Friday and Saturday.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Debra I'm so sorry you cannot have the ReStor lens so you could ditch those glasses. I am so thankful that i could get this type lens verses the reg. Cataract lens. Linda, the ReStor lens is expensive too and insurance will not pay for them. They are $1900. each eye. But with all I had wrong with my eyes, this was a blessing for me.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh goodness. That is a lot of money, glad to hear they are helping you. Geesh, I have been wearing glasses for so long, I think I would feel naked with out them.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I remember going to contacts Linda Kay, and I would catch myself poking at my nose like to raise my glasses that weren't there...rofl

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I used to NOT wear glasses all the time, wore contacts ( bi foculs) for ten years, used glasses when they weren't in, been in trifoculs for ten years, and they still do not make tri contacts yet. My nose hurts all the time even when switching from one pair to another. * sigh*

Hello to everybody and praying your day is good.
Linda Kay, you are right, that is a lot of money but if I check my want list, VISION will have to be on top and that makes it worth it to me.
Debra, what color is Dola & Taylor Dawn? Never heard of them. If you have extras lol, please add them to the box you are planning to send me.
Susie love the color of your Tulips.
Hope each of you will be happy today and if any pain, i pray it will be minor.
Love & hugs, Faye

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

ty faye I planted 100 of them there in that area & As you can see only a few came up . so I want to get more :) this fall wish i could remember the name of them .

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Today after work I drove to emporia to get college girl, then raced out back to pull up more leaves to ready for the tropicals and brugs, and it started hailling on me, so I laid all the tall plants down that were in pots, and thne it started raining ( finaly) after Joe and college girl and I ran around picking up big golf ball hail stones and putting them in the planters and pots, ( we didn't think it would really rain) some people here in kansas got basemball sized hail.
Faye, Dole is a dark pink, have no clue about taylor dawn she is just a small stick atm. once she gets big and blooms out, we will see what she is all about. I lost Wretched Mess, Culebra, NOL, Lovey, and a few more, but can't remember. Dola is a great performer.
today is my mothers birthday, and she would have told me to prune her roses, so I pruned mine tonight before the rain. I Pruned Carribia, American Eagle, Dream Cycle, Double Delight, My Angel, and another one I can't remember its name. I have the cuttings I pruned in the bean patch for the night. I pulled up a huge bunch of Pink Supreme Monarda. Excellant pink and great smell.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Debra, is Pink Supreme a dwarf? I keep seeing it in catalogs listed as a dwarf monarda.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Beautiful blooms..What is a Monarda?
Susan I think I read somewhere that you wanted to make your entire yard into gardens and with all your already plants, and your ordering, I do believe you will do it. What lilies did you order?
Happy Birthday....Love you lady.

Me too. Guess that is what I will do tomorrow.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Debra, could I get some of that monarda you are pulling up????

I got a box of bulbs from a coop I ordered from. Hope they do well here. Do lilies have to have full sun, or would doppled and afternoon be OK?

Brunello
Gironde
Monte Negro
Toronto
Elodie
Casa Blanca (have a rose named that at the other house)
Dizzy
Salmon Star
Robin
Conca d'Or

Any of these familiar to anyone?

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

LOL.....they sure are, Patti, and then some. If you're labeling change Robin to "Robina".

Faye, I'll bring Lilies for you at our RU. Monarda is Bee Balm, a shrub-like plant in the Mint Family. This is a pic I took last year of mine. If you like the Raspberry blooms, you're welcome to a clump. Or anybody else here for that matter. Patti? I've been digging clumps getting them well-rooted to either trade or give away. Just be judicious where you plant Monardas as they readily self-sow and spread easily. Seems like mine bloomed from about June to frost and before growing season was over it was about 5' or so tall.

[Send starts to Susie and Patti.]

HAPP LATE BIRTHDAY, Fruity Girl!!! Hope you did something fun....

I got my bulbs from Bleeks also, but didn't get them planted. DH had me up at 5am to go to a swap meet yesterday. I didn't find much but did get a new garden hat with string for 4.00 Then came home and planted 8 bressingham blue hostas, cut down the big grasses, and then chopped more on the dead pines. Everything is a mess....inside and out...rofl.

We went from frost to 90, my daffs and tulips are NOT happy about it.

Plant sale today and a friend is coming over at 8:30am and we are off for a day of plant shopping and fun....yeah.
Hummm wonder if that is why everything is a mess...rofl.

Debra if your rose starts start could I swap you some stuff for them?

Think I will try to figure out what days it won't rain next week and take off and try to get things under control. I need to go out to the old farm cemetery and get it under control before it is totally wild again. Wish it were closer it would make it easier.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Gotcha, Faye, and can hardly wait to see you at the Round-Up!

The few Pampas Grass plants we have I cut down last month, just in time since new growth was starting to shoot up at their bases. But then again, we're a tad bit ahead of some of you. Same thing here, Susie, we have a burn band from April to October unless it's after 4 PM.

It was absolutely glorious here today and reached 86 degrees. Clear skies, just a little breezy, and I broke a sweat. First thing this morning, the crop of wild garlic growing in my long bed was calling my name and spent the next two hours digging them out. Pretty easy after our rains, but ended up with a shiner blister, stupid gloves. Then I planted perennials a nursery let me have for 1/2 price Saturday for my B-day. They have never done that and I was tickled! But they know I'll be back for loads of mulch and will back up the bucks. One new plant is Rudbeckia "Black-Eyed Susan". Can you believe I didn't already have one...lol And another was Coreopsis "Jethro Tull", had to have it just because of the name. It felt SO good to be outside digging and planting. Spring has definitely sprung but bet we get zapped with a surprise frost between now and May 15th.

Photo attached is IRIS "Irish Chant" Maxine gave me, and is blooming today.....

Yes FOTV, it is. My DH and I were married in late April, our colors were white and lavender. I had iris in bloom that color (when I lived at my other house) and had a big bouquet on the reception table. I just wish they bloomed longer, like all summer! :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready! It is nice and cool here this morning. Only 52 and it feels really nice! I am going to see if I can get a glove over my splinted fingers, and get some brugs in the ground. I have a few in water, and thier roots are getting so long, and they are about 1 & 1/2 foot tall with the new growth. Can't wait for hubby, or it will never get done!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
