New room everyone! Spring has sprung. Come and tell us whats blooming in your area!
She's about to...59... Spring is here!
So far all I have blooming is some daffs. They are the ones I rescued from Campbellville. But everthing else is starting to grow. Everytime I walk around the yard I see new leaves popping out.

If he reseeds with Bermuda grass don't divorce him. Just shoot him! I hate that stuff worse than death. The only place it belonIgs is in Florida and on a golf course. I have clients that got the bright idea to use it in their yards and now it is all through their beds. I have dug up bushels of that stuff and it still won't go away. No way to kill it either. Believe me it has been tried.
Lot's of green here but few blooms. Good day to all!
Getting greener....not many blooms just those little croaks...
Well, I found out I don't have a broken finger, I have 2 broken fingers. Both top knuckles on the index and middle finger are broken. I have to wear splints till the 13th of April, then another x-ray to see if they heal properly! UGHHH!
OH My Guess you will have to get hubby to do dishes now :))) hehe
And the cooking, and the laundry... LOL!
awww poor Linda! Gosh! I would go nutz!
Joe FIXED the blue bathroom drain plug all by himself today! OMG!!!!!
I can't believe we didn't pay a plumber 120.00!!!!! *feint* It is all my fault, I started it by taking it apart and not being able to get it together again.. I keep saying:
How come you can build a Lear Jet, but not fix a faucet? Light fixtture? Door knob? etc etc etc.. LOL
I am so happy it's officially spring ^_^ We have sun, clear skies, and no heavy winds. I don't care if it's cold out there, that's spring enough for me. I worked outside yesterday for a good two hours, which was pretty good for being sick! I cleaned out all my pots and pruned back all the dead leaves. I was thrilled to find that I haven't lost as many as I thought. So far I was surprised to find that my cape fuchsia, mum, and 2 penstemon have all survived or have at least have signs of hope. I think I lost my veronica red fox.
The only blooms I see so far are crocus and pink or white camellia.
tikipod, I just looked up your address on google maps, and your only 3 miles from my Brother. He lives on Pine Rd. Last name is Tate.
We have had 3 days of abnormal warm weather, which was great but now 29! Everything is tall and pretty, daffs blooming, everything seems to have leaped a foot.
OMG two broken fingers, I feel for you.
Debra, the more mechanical they are the harder it is to get them to do things....my DH is just cheap and won't hire anything done so he can have money to play with...rofl.
Interesting Linda. I can't say I know anyone locally with the last name Tate.
you grow camlilias there?? they are considered tropicals here..
I don't grow them exactly but I consider these bushes to be mine. My Nana planted them after this place was built in the 80's. My favorite, a beautiful white, was cut down by the condo board. She had taken cuttings from the bush at their last home and start it from those. I need to figure out how to propagate the remaining white one. I'm not sure if it was started from cuttings too but it is just as beautiful.
They are going to most likely cut down some of the bushes around here. I don't care if they take the Rhodies (they aren't doing good) but heaven help them if they take the camellias.
My Brother has a huge pink and white striped camellia in his back yard. It must be 20 foot tall!
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!
morning Linda, I will take a cuppa;0.... spent most of the evening perusing this thread from 2008 and 2009, trying to see who sent me what back then..
Did you figure it out?
I spent a good portion of yesterday sorting the brugs in the bubbler and potting them up. I think though that I lost all the Maya cuttings I had. for some reason those were the first to rot. The small rooted one that I brought in bit the dust too. So if anyone has any yellow brug cuttings that they could share I would be ever so appreciative. You all know I'll make it up to you somehow. :))
Well, unless all mine come back from root, I won't know what colors I have. All my monster white died from cuttings, as well as my NOID pink and yellow. So I will have to wait and see what is coming up.
I just don't have any luck with the cuttings for some reason?
I lost all my burg cuttings this winter. I had brought them all in the house for the winter, but they did not make it. I'm still watching, but so far no growth.
So far all the Brugs I have now are doing well. Even the side growth I plucked off my Isabella cutting. It was growing in a weird place that wouldn't have worked if it had grown so I snipped it off to start. I'll ship it off to my friend in Spring time ^_^
Faye I have one of your "Yard Sale Yellow", but it isn't growing very fast and hasn't bloomed yet. I'm anxious to see it.
Nita that yellow is beautiful....almost a yellow/orange. If you want any others, just let me know. All I have are cuttings of last years plants that I rooted in water then potted up in Miracle Grow. They are large and beautiful, just waiting for larger pots or the ground. I plant as many as I have space for in the ground. Checked yesterday and I have 2 that are coming back....strange, it's the same 2 that came back last year. They are southern Bell and 1st Bell. Both are orange.
Faye I Would Love a ORANGE One & Also My Yardsale yellow has died off but all the others are doing great
will take any extra you might have for postage or I Can share a box of plants come Spring when i can get into the gardens :))) Not sure it would be a good time right now to send for it is only in the 30's right now .
I don't know if I want to try burgs again. I've seen them grow outdoors around here, but I kept 1/2 of mine in the house for the winter, the other 1/2 outside. They are all died as far as I can tell. The ones outside froze, the ones in the house, I don't know they just died.
The ones in the house are probably dormant. Give them water, and sit them in the sun when it gets warm enough. You may be surprised what comes back.
Thats what I'm doing with them right now. Just keeping my fingers crossed.
I have some budding, some look dead, but when I lift them they have white off shoots comin up ( dormant but waking up) some shriveled, but have new shoots, some have died completely, that is okay, The ones I have kept going are all going to be fine when the get outside. Maya is budded. Yard sale yellow I sent back to Faye, but now I have another one from her, and it is fine. don't be dismayed at what you think is dead. You might be surprised. The ones in the best light are the ones that are growing the fastest. I have several Bottoms only just waiting to be planted.. ( root balls)
I won't be cutting on any now until Fall.. I can not seem to get NOL to ever stay alive for me, but this year NN has survived. Still have Insignias from Faye, Joyces NOID, Cuba, from Faye, MW from Bonnie, First Bell, Southern Belle and Mango Crush all doing okay. Damien and Elizabeth are hanging in there, CG is recovering from being chopped up so much, NOID from Seray is leafing, Georgia Peach from DIRTYGIRL is thriving,
I think I lost Vixen from Bonnie, will see this spring, Chrissy, Isabella, Frosty, Heloise, Cassies Curls, Santa Rosa, Pink Beauty, Pink Perfektion,
All are doing fine. Stardancer Pods 2, 4, and 6 are small trees, the seedlings of Cherub X Berkonigan from Phicks seed is a small tree, Dola, Kaitlyn and Isabella all small Trees now. Jean Pasko was given away, but I have Cotton Candy, Autumn Treasure and Miss Bhavin to make up for it.
Wild Thing, Catalonia, and Axel Rose X LWS( from Gordon Hawk seed) are still growing, Milk N Honey is a nice tree now. B suavleons and B Arborea are doing fine as is B Aurea. Cherub cuttings have been turned into nice standards, and the Main mother root ball has sent up three more shoots already in her tub. I am iffy about Culebra, we will see. PNC still hanging in there, but lost DayDreams and Butterfly and Cream Cicyle
( again). Betty Marshall is still a tree , and two seedlings of SD X PV and PV orange X Jarods Joy are really tall now, Kylies Pink is a root ball, ( about 12 inches on the trunk ) Dola, Flamenco are both huge trees.Alex, Wretched Mess and Sam are Also putting out new growth, Alex is about 4 ft tall. KBS and Serendipty from Faye are just now shooting out leaf growth.
I am sure there is a couple more, but am too tired to walk back in there to see. Oh, I have 2 Peach Versi's, If anyone wants one.
That is the Report from the Basement Garden tonight. It hailed pea size for about three minutes, that was our rain for the month so far.. *sigh*
OH! One of Kaitlyns seeds came up, it is so cute!
Goodness, you have so many named ones! Nice job!
I learned from you guys, Linda.. tag them if they come named. It is a task to keep them on, but I make it happen now.
We sure had a lot of fun back then,( 2008, 2009) but it was hard to keep up with everyone.. ( for me) LOL.
My Dats( Triple purple and yellow) from last fall are still going, they are in a different part of the basement, have bloomed a couple times, looks like they are getting ready to bud out again.. I have White Datura tubers that keep sending up shoots, I keep snipping them off.. they need to wait a little longer. Ones outside havn't poked up yet.. ( Inoxia)
Silly Four O clock tubers I grew out from special seeds are sending shoots up almost two feet, but have to cut them off too.. Silly Dahlias are sending up leave, they are having to reach so hard they look like vines. Will be snipping them too..I like looking at the green. All my hibs are a blooming away.. This is a part of the brug room first week of February..
How's your fingers?
I found Temple Goddess, 2 Frostys,Taylor Dawn and LBG I forgot about them, they were in the closet. I still have two Dolas. *sigh*
I moved around my brug starts so that I had them all together. I have 21 that are growing. My Peach Versi isn't doing anything, if you still have one Debra I would love to have it.
Debra I can't believe how many different kinds of brugs you have! Several of my 21 are Isabella. I have one Yard Sale Yellow that is doing well, lost the other ones. NN is finally coming along. I think that I have the most of Pinks with several Isabella. I have 1 white but don't remember the name. I would love to trade with someone for starts or would pay postage. Please keep me in mind anyone who has starts! Now that I have gotten the to grow, I just have to keep the alive
I think Debra and Faye are the only ones I got brugs from last year. Both sent me nice healthy boxes of starts.
I will tag one of the fully rooted two year old Dolas for you you, and the 3 year old Peach Versi for you.. is that good, Crit?
You are a DOLL Debra!!!!!
Don't know where "spring is" but I can sure tell you where she isn't! Snow and cold here. Sadly not enough snow to protect anything. Bet them Robins are wondering what the heck happened!
Sorry you have snow. It is 93 here today. Were supposed to get near a record high of 95!
good grief I hate this winter crap!
Anyone interested in a memory swap of plants?
