Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

I am first for once. Hi Betty and all. Have a good day. HUGS BEV

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Betty this is a nice spring room, everyone will bring a pot of flowers and I'll bring the coffee pot and some sweets. We'll all love sitting there and chatting. Tubby's recliner is just at the opening to the living room, so he's not very far away. He feels like c--p today so we aren't going any place. He seems to have a bout of diareha. We just hang in there and take it one day at a time. I've been up and down this morning as I'm still working downstairs. I finished patching the walls now have to wait to dry. I'll sand and paint those spots tomorrow unless they need more mud. I'll clean the bedroom and closet area and then come upstairs and clean on the middle level. I better start on taxes before I loose all track of time.

Elfie that is a good sign, LOL.

OMG!!!!!
Just got a call from a guy on craigslist!!

Lookie at what I got for only $60.00!!!!

Goober is going to LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

Shirley and Bev , room looks enchanting with all the plants you've decorated with afnd while walking amongst them I'm drinking your coffee and enjoying a sweet!

Sorry Shirley that Tubby isn't up to going for treatment today, maybe a day of rest is needed...lordy girl with all you are doing you'll have nothing left to do come spring time, save some for tomorrow!

Lucky you Kris, saw one the same that they had set unground and it became a water feature...good buy! Hmmmm you are going to use it in the garden until spring then clean and make an outdoor useable tub? Now that's ambitious..

I never seem to thing of looking on craigslist for anything..off I go to see what they might have..waiting for Suzanne to get out of her meeting so we can go to lunch..

Yeah,, It is a big project. But I am going to LOVE it!!
Got to go I am going to try to sculpt some more on the mermaid!!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Well just paid a bill online and got the new reciever set up and running for Tubby. Yeah, I hate it when he feels like this, sort of takes the fun out of getting much done. I can't go far as he needs to be changed when he hollers or skin will break down quick. I will go out and check the birds water and then back down to the salt mine for awhile.

Elf is you had two old doors you could put the windows in between as a back drop and privacy cover. Just a thought.

Okay, back to work!

Great idea Shirley. I know where to pick up some old doors for just $5.00 each!!!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I have been following along with all the chat. Been very busy running this week. It is getting pretty nice here but still very wet from all the rain. If I have another day of dry weather I might be able to clean up a few more beds. Spring flowers are starting to pop up everywhere.
Betty hope you can put it all behind you and move on.
Shirley, Hope Tubby has a better day tomorrow.
Mud_Elf, What a great tub. You can make a great get away with that. What fun you will have.
This is what I did with my old tub.

I thought I would post a pic of the bookcase my son made from a pair of old house shutters and some leftover tongue and groove boards. I would have probably finished it a bit differently but he built it for his girlfriend and she picked out the colors. She just loved it.

Holly, I love what you did with the tub! And the way it is displayed in the garden, very nice. I agree with the shelves, they are nice but would have picked a different color. Great "recycle" using them.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Holly, I love what you've done with the tub..is the greenery in the tub growing just sitting in water? Do you have the faucet rigged so that it has flowing water ? Just too adorable...

What a unique way of using shutters, could also use bifold doors as well....I find it so interesting to see how people repurpose.. Thanks for posting the photos for is to see!

Eye doctor said there was no reason for the headaches based on what he found..told me to make an appointment with my physician if after my cold clears and they still persist..he sati it could very well be sinus but not to play with it.....I know, you all told me same..

With Melanie and the boys away for march break Greg called and said he'd be here for supper, been quite awhile since he's had chicken and glissant (sliders) so I've got chicken boiling and that will make finishing supper tomorrow night that much quicker!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, are you rested? Did you manage to get some much deserved sleep today or where you running the roads?

Lyndonville, NY

Rest? Me? Nope! But wasn't running the roads either. I have a mountain of paperwork......and I need to copy it, and of course the printer broke!!!

Waited home all day for our "house update" and no call came. Trying to get paperwork done and stuff balanced out, and its just not cooperating.

Betty, make an appt. with your doctor, to get an xray or such of your neck/back....please?

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Debbie, What brought me over to this thread was a posting Mud_Elf made of things built from old doors, so I thought this was a good place to post this picture.
Betty, You asked what kind of crafting I do. A bit of a lot of different things. I sew, use to do basic crocheting, X-Stitch, leather work, lots of Macrame (actually had a small business), ceramics. A bit of stenciling and hand painting I have tried a few pottery pieces would really like to take classes in pottery but never seem to get around to it.

Here is one of my favorite pieces of ceramic, I painted it with underglazes. Glazes are such fun to work with because you are never really quite sure what it will look like until you pull it out of the kiln.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, they say no news is good news right?
Wish I lived closer, I enjoy doing books!

If I rest much more I'll have bed sores..lol

News is on, omg watching the news, seems it is never ending for them...the bodies that are washing ashore, how do you deal with something like that!!

Shirley, now tubby can watch his cowboy shows while you can watch those that interest you..maybe now that you have the 2nd receiver you'll not work as hard

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's so pretty Holly..great coverage ..how right you are, I taught ceramics for awhile and it was like Christmas morning each time you opened the kiln lid never knowing if you would give an polonium or. Awwwww..you've got good coverage..anything with cadmium is so unpredictable...I'm finding much the same with the jewelry kiln ,you never know the outcome!

We have many of the same interests although I've never mastered macrame...a few times I tried to do lawn chair seat and back...knots aren't easy to learn..

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Betty, I have several different water plants in the tub, pickerel, tarro, water lilies. Yes the tub faucet does run. There is a circulating pump in the bottom of the tub that runs down thru the bottom drain and into some copper pipes that hook up to the faucet. Here is a thread you might like that shows several pics of the bathtub pond and the story behind it. Plus some other members ideas of what they did with their tubs.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1008082/
I started with a book of knots and ended up with so many plant hangers that I took them to a small local show to sell. That rolled into a small business I would sell finished pieces and then started teaching classes and selling supplies. This was a very long time ago when my children were pretty young.

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, not that kind of books. Filling out scholarship forms for college, getting bank papers together on the house, things like that I need to scan and copy....going back six months! GRRRR! The "books" and accounting issues are relaxing for me.

Lyndonville, NY

I just had a little chuckle....me putting a tub in the yard would go over great in this neighborhood,....along with the dog sitting in it! Can't keep her out of the upstairs tub if she gets up there. lol

I so enjoy seeing these.

Hello all,, GOOBER is here and so is Gryphon. He says yall like Goober better than himm,,lol
He alos said what is he chopped liver?? And he is only 13 just wait a couple more years it will be worse.

Betty!! I got a package from you today!!! It is here in my lap hiding from Goober!! She is so busy playing she has not read this so I think I will give it to her tomarrow. I did open mine and it is sooo cool!! Love it and love you!!
Thanks

Elfie

Baton Rouge, LA

Oh Gosh !

Went to post and DH says the Refrigerator/Freezer has gone out.... gotta run...

Betty - put a little "sumthin" in the mail to you today. At a Mailing store so not even sure it has my name on it...but it should. Anyway something coming to you from Louisiana you'll know it's me.....

Verona, ON

Many thanks for all your words of wisdom concerning my dilemma. I haven't decided yet what course of action I am going to take but I just feel I have to do something. I am very concerned that a stress related heart attack could occur and yes even a deeper thought that suicide is not out of the question.
LK that sure was a quick trip to Michigan. Is that where most of your family lives?
Oh no Mary!! Is DH a Mr Fixit or is he like my DH and calls someone in to look at the appliance?
Need to go see what Stormy is howling about. I am sure it is the coyotes as they were whooping it up last night too. They are getting a little too close to the house which concerns me. Also they have lost alot of their timidness since they have been intermingling with the wolves. Coyotes are also because of this interbreeding coming in at about 75 - 90 lbs. There have been several shot in the area already this winter.
Betty so glad you had your eyes checked now make that apptment with your GP - please.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Before I start gabbing I'd like to ask for prayers for mike and ann..they will be in Toronto today and will decide if its times to quit taking further treatment.....so it will be a difficult day for the.....doubtful ann will make our weekly t.v. Bingo!

Watching weather report, sunshine today but rain rolling in for the rest of the week and if lucky sunshine for the weekend

Holly will check the link this morning, always up for ideas!
Do you have a lot of gardens?

Debbie, amazing what relaxes us, besides working with figures walking in graveyards reading tombstones does it for me..weird person I am!

Dianne, your friend sure could use a friend and with your concerns about her physical and mental condition I think you are on the brink on making a decision that you will feel comfortable.

Cayotes, yikes, you wouldn't want your family pet strolling outside with them being the size they are...is the bay still have ice on it? When we lived on glousterpool it was always the most amazing thing to have ice in the morning and by nightfall to see it gone, washed away by the lock current!

Mary, did you get the refrigerator/freezer up and running? Hopefully you have warrantee for it should you need to bring in a repairman...my extended warrantee ended in February and I did not renew, lordy, almost the cost of buying new! Problem with purchasing all appliances at same time is they need replacement about same time as well....

Thank you Mary, will check the post ...exciting!

Barb, are you sleeping in this morning, no kids to look after, bet you are already lonesome!

Kris, glad the package...I'll have to go back through the posts and see who did not get theirs..Dianne did you?

Well, best I get a move on...

Gab when I get to work

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Good Morning to All!

I'm sitting here having coffee and Tubby in recliner having his Pepsi. Dogs outside holling at who knows what. I'll make some breakfast a little later. Bacon and eggs anyone?

Holly, welcome and love what you did with the tub. I couldn't do that as the dogs would be in and out of it I'm afraid, but will have to think on it awhile. I better just get my gardens cleaned and the pathways put down before I really get into decorating. I have alot of old chairs that Tubby has cut holes in the seats for pots. I'll display them and I have old suitcases that I want to set around and plant. We brought back an old wooden cattle tank years ago from his cousins place. We always wanted to sit it up by back fence and fill and plant. We have lots of old iron wheels to make flowers carts out of. These are all some day projects.

I have some ceramics that a friends made me when I had my beauty shop and some my Dad made when he was at the Vet's hospital before he passed. They are special so I won't get rid of them and am picky about where I display them. I always wanted to make me a huge ceramic Christmas tree, but I doubt that I ever will.

Elf I hope your aches are better today. My Dad passed away from arthritis. It was a form that made your muscles become hard. He passed at the young age of 53 when it took his heart. He knew the end was near. He also had arthitis of the eyes. My youngest brother has the eyeritis so was so scared he'd be like my Dad and gone at an early age. He's okay. So it's so important to keep moving so those joints don't stiffen up. I hope the RA Dr. can help you with the discomfort.

Betty the rain will help get rid of the snow, right? It's good to have a rain to wash everything off and really let the new come through. We are to get some Thrusday. It means dogs tracks in the house. Oh well, price to pay for friendship. Will definitely say prayers for Ann & Mike today. May God be with them.

Mary good luck with your refrig/freezer. I hope it isn't anything serious. I only have coverage on the good one upstairs in kitchen. We have 3 more that was used and are just spares for pop and such. The price of having a repairman anymore is outragous.

Have a great day to all and will check in once in awhile today as I get some chores done.

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning Tubby & Shirley, Tubby I gave up my pepsi this morning and am having some coffee. Have a slight headache and hoping that will help it skidaddle! Tubby I think you should get Shirley to paint your toenails a purty color to keep her busy! My kids did that to their grandpa one year, and he left it on for the longest time. I finally said "Dad, you really liking that nail polish...need a new coat?" NOPE...can't reach my toes to take it off!!! haha So I made the kids take it off too!

Betty, I enjoy the walks thru the cemetary also, Mom and I used to do that. Now when I got to visit her, I do the same. Amazing what I find! My roommate from DC lost her parents...and they are burried three rows up from Mom. Moms best friend/coffee buddy, 1 row up and 3 over...so I like to think they still have coffee. I bet I have found 10 or more aquaintances/friends for her/our life. And I haven't gone very far!

Prayers definately for Ann & MIke. That decision is so very hard and gut wrenching. That is the one day I remember the most with my Mom, when they told us there was nothing else to be done and I had to tell her. Tearing up just thinking of it.

On to something happy.....I have daffodils popping thru....minimal snow left in the yard. AND...tomorrow the weather liars said "50" degrees!!

Have a wonderful day,
Debbie

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Both DH Ric and I love to garden. Makes it nice when you have someone to share the work and projects with. We have an acre of land that has the house, barn and garden on it. There is a small area behind us that was our old pasture when we had horses years ago that we mow. Our yard is a work in progress even though we have lived here more than 30 yrs. We were too busy with the jobs, children, and the horses to do as much gardening as we would have liked. Now that we are retired we have all the time we want to spend on the gardens. This is an example of what we have done since we retired. The back part of this bed is 30 yrs old the front only a few years. We took a small straight stepping stone path and replaced it with a wider curved stone walkway and almost doubled this garden. We collected the stepping stones our self over time and Ric put it in.

Good morning everyone. I'm back again from the land of kids. It took me all day yesterday to get my bearings again and the house cleaned. And guess who is here this morning? Yes, Sean!!! He has a late start at school today so I'll take him in about 10 am. They have one late start each month and today it is March's turn.
So much to catch up on and read. I skimmed a bit but here goes.
First question - has anyone heard from Judy (seedtosser) lately? I'm worried about her.
Second question - when are you seeing the Dr. Betty?
Third question - how are you doing Bev? Taking it easy with those gardens? Hope so.
So very nice to meet you Holly. Wonderful pictures and a gorgeous garden. How great that your DH likes to garden too!!
Betty, I hope you get some answers regarding the divorce situation. I really think the step is trying to put one over on you. It might be worth a tad of investigation to find out "why now?"
Dianne - this is a truly hard decision to make. I am not sure what I would do myself. I know I'd stay in the house with coyotes that close though and be very careful with my pets. I only have one cat but she would make a tasty snack I'm sure.
Debbie - so pleased about Shane. He is so talented and maybe now his star will really shine bright. I am sorry though about all the hassle with your mortgage. Paperwork is such a pain and it seems like everything lately requires a ton of it.
Mary - how did you make out with your fridge/freezer? Thought about that this morning as I took out chicken to thaw and wondered what we would do should ours go out. It's still pretty cold up here but not enough to store food in the snow. Yes, I still have a good foot or more on the lawn. It is starting to melt though as we get some rain and a bit warmer temps.
Shirley - sounds like you have your hands full of projects. Keeping busy and the ability to do so is wonderful when you have so much on your plate. When you can post pictures, I'd love to see one of Tubby's Pepsi collection!! I've never heard of anyone collecting Pepsi but plenty of Coke people out there....
My prayers are with Ann and Mike today. My heart is heavy when I think of the decisions that may have to be made. I'm so glad that they spoke with other family members. Their children needed to know what is going on. A new card is in the mail....
Hoping LK is having an easy travel day today. Are you meeting her in Michigan Betty?
Well, I've written abook this morning I guess. I'll be taking Sean to school soon and then I'm going to work on sewing the binding down on my Boston Common quilt . My quilter did a wonderful job on it and I can't wait for it to be finished and on the bed...
Have a great day everyone and I'll keep you all in my prayers...

Until someone comes and shows me what to do about pictures it'll have to wait. Tubby has collected Pepsi products for years. We don't have as much as Coke people, but that's okay. A person only has so much room. The daughter in Wis. got him alot of signs when she waitressed at this cafe that ended up closing.

I'm headed down to finish cleaning the bedroom and closet area. Then I'll move to the middle area and clean those rooms. I need to take rugs and a couple pillow in to the laundromat, but will do that tomorrow.

Holly the garden around house and shed and the pathway are darling. I'm gonna do the pathways with old chipped wood from the city. I can get a truck load for $10. I'll start in the garden across from the house. I have some dumb old elm trees to pull out first and then clean it up and put the edging for the paths down. I'll get them ready. I found a picture of the gate I want to build for the entrance. I will measure the size and then either have my brother build it at his job (he is a welder) or weld it myself. I just need him to show me how for sure. We have the welder it's just I haven't used it before.

Tubby ate some breakfast today so that's good. I need to go get a chicken out of freezer for supper. I'm gonna cut it up and cover it with heavy whipping cream and bake. Nothing fatting about that, NOT! I haven't done that in a long time. It's very good and with some mashed potatoes it'll be good. Hopefully Tubby will want to eat some. It's hard to cook when he won't eat after you make it.

I'll have to take a walk around and see if anything is popping up besides dandelions and wild geranium weeds. I'll have to wait a bit before I can spray them. It surprises me that some of you up north have things popping up already before us. Oh well, one never knows.

Okay this time it is really off to work, I've sat here long enough. Check in with everyone later.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Holly, your gardens are spectacular, omg just love them! Lucky you having a hubby who enjoys gardening...not my Roger god bless his soul, if I planted a tree he would accidentally run the mower over it ooops and gardens had to be self contained where he couldn't get the mower at them! It would be wonderful having someone to work alongside..looks as thought you've got good soil from the lush green in the photo...just sooo pretty...love how you have the little bridge set , when in buffalo the tool place had them on sale at a reasonable price, didn't get there on the Sunday due to storm so I'll check next visit..my thoughts are with wanting to make another pond lower than the present one I could have it where both join in...pooh you all have me yearning to get outside...guess I can't dig in frozen ground can I?

Barb, so want to see your quilt? Can we preview before the binding and what do they charge for quilting? As for Judy, last time we spoke she was busy sewing, helping Steve and busy family slate....do miss her...intact I wanted to call her to get exact dates of this year's reunion so I can book holidays before others do and I miss out!

Shirley, I've just got to get a trailer and come you way, sounds as though you've got a yard filled with repurpose treasures and I'd like me some....so cute, can just hear tubby if you got out the nail polish...tell him it's Debbie who comes up with these ideas, such a brat she is. Lol. Can't you just see it!

I'll have dandelions galore but not sure what you call geranium leaves?

I started those two bowl flower kits I got for Christmas, the tulips are not growing at all but the bulbs with the little blue flowers, can't for the love of me remember the name, are up about four inches and have leaves on my amaryllis..maybe come Easter they'll be blooming!

Barb, I will not be meeting up with LindaKay this weekend as I would get there on saturday and she has a family function then leaving so does not work for us...boo hoo

But I am sitting here going through maps so far for Ohio and Kentucky and Tennessee for my may trip seeing what we can stop to
look at... Anxious to plan from Memphis to home. Taking a different route than normally I take, we only have 5 days and we want to jam pack it...just like we did Debbie and crissy

Hummm,, Ralph and I are going to be in Parkersburg, WV for a week at the end of May. Are you going to be anywhere close to there??? Maybe we can meet up!!!!! That would be soooo cool!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I can't keep up with all the chat!!!

Nice to meet you Holly!! LOVE the yard and tub!!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

DITTO.....I love that tub!!! so wish hubby would let me do that!!!! we had to replace a toilet...and I so wanted to put it in the yard and plant in it He said NO WAY!!!

Glenview, IL

Hello, I am back!!
First Welcome, Holly and Kris's friend!!
So glad you two got to meet.

You bring tears to my eyes, Thank you all for such kind and loving gestures.

We got back from the Springfield late Sunday night.

Thursday evening both Steve and I were on the phone with Danny's family and other members of the family.
Wow, that was a pretty rough night...Joyce, oh my gosh, Such devastating news I could barely understand what she was or her sister was saying until about 15 minutes into the calls. Nancy, received the Call first thing in the morning. A message to please call Jamie, Dan's wife.
Nancy wasn't able to tell anyone until she told mom and Joyce. They were on an outing together. Nancy and DH drove to Rockford to tell them in person...They let themselves in Aunti Jeans house and when she and Joyce returned saw the lights on, called the police!! Can't blame them. Anyway, Danny was driving with a friend, Now he has lived in Oregon for all of his Adult life, knows the roads like the back of his hand. The main road was under construction so they decided to detour a back road... It was dark, The accident happened on Wednesday night, He hit a gravel patch and went off a 100 ft cliff, miraculously, the friend somehow got out of the vehicle, climbed the cliff and got to the road to flag down help. He is in ICU, I do not know how he is doing right now.
Knowing, I have lost Carol Bear in a car accident, seemed to comfort them, as I could fully understand everything they are going through...
We are having a memorial "Party" this Sunday. Danny told Jamie, he didn't want a funeral service, didn't want everyone to be around all sad, He wants us to Celebrate his life! So, She is having one at her house and Nancy is having it on Sunday. Today I will be searching my photo's to add.

Friday, we were on the Road to Springfield, Illinois for the Freshmen/Sophomore State Championships.
Wow, what an incredible time...

My Boy's, Jacob and his Buddy, Isaac, the only two from GBS wrestling team.

They met up with a few guys from neighboring schools. This one, is from GBN, our Rival school!

Thumbnail by Seedtosser1
Glenview, IL

Isaac lost his first match, won the second and lost in the 3rd. Very disappointing.
But then he realized making it all the way to State was pretty impressive.

Here they are practicing.
I was really glad that they were together, Neighther Steve or I know about wrestling. so they coached each other!

Thumbnail by Seedtosser1
Glenview, IL

Jacob won the first three matches.
Then, The fourth match he lost, but was in the running for 8th.
Won that one and was in running for 5th place...lost and came in 6th.
He was in the 285 lb. Heavyweight...
He Was over the weight limit by a half a pound, normally he is in the 215 catagory.

See the guys, They Sasguanches, but he held his own. None of them were able to pin Jake, they won by a point!!
Jake is the second to your right.

Glenview, IL

Pretty Proud Mumma here, he was invited to be on the Illinois Team for Nationals!!
He gets an Illinois team singlet, a sweatshirt and a Tshirt, plus 20 discount on the entry fee.

So he will be wrestling these guys again along with kids from other states.
I took videos of all the matches. So he has been viewing them trying to see where he went wrong.
practice...LOL, problem is these guys are huge and every bit of 285!

We are going to eat lunch and watch movies today. Then maybe do some clay.. have to see how I feel.

Huggs to Tubby and Shirley too.

Holl>>>y I have already been admiring / envious of your yard,,,sigh Just LOVE it. Especially that great big blue egg. It inspired me to make some of my own. Just not as large. Wonder if I sculpted clay around a really big ball if I could get it to shape up like an Egg?

Betty where are you. I want to know If we might be able to meet up in May!!

Huggs to everyone else.. Crystal,, where are you?? drop in and chat,, donot be shy!!
