Best/worse/what did I learn toda?chat with friends

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Synda just start picking up the gals asI have more than enough room at the table and plenty of seats. Tubby would love it. LOL He did really pretty good today. He did a little bit of supper and is now in bed. I'll watch a bit of TV up here and then go down and do some more work till bed time. Some of the dogs are outside barking but the smart ones are in here lying by the stove, just incase I feel like sharing any of suppers leftovers. They are just to cute sometimes.

Betty I'm glad you are home from work and safe and sound. I wish your bad weather would go away for you all. It got up in the high 30's today and warmer as the week goes. The wind is strong, but I'm sure not like yours.

Debbie I hope things get better girl. Say have you heard anymore about your house? I'm still sayind prayers for you all.

Well, the GD in Wisconsin is having a terrible time emotionally. I was talking to her Mom when she could hear her crying way down the hall. The Dr. is going to increase her sleep medication and hopefully she will get some much overdue sleep tonight. He wants her to start Yoga so she can learn to clear her mind of things. She is so emotional and just can't let go of things. She worries about things she has no control of and it seems to have escaladed now. Hopefully God can help her. I will write her a letter tonight and hopefully that will help a bit.

Well, will close for the evening as I hate to stay upstairs too long after I get Tubby to bed. He just doesn't rest well till I'm downstairs. God Bless you all and sweet dreams to all! Here are the (((((((hugs))))))) we've been meaning to send also.

Shirley

Lyndonville, NY

Shirley, thank you for the prayers, I so appreciate it.

We get "updates" every Monday, and this past Mondays update was that it had moved from initial review into the people that decide they are going to help us...or proceed to foreclosure. This "level" takes a few weeks as they check out our options and get verifications of DH's job and our bills. Sigh....I am not patient, and sure know this is driving me crazy.

Hugs for you and Tubby....those are some smart dogs!!

Debbie

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty I am so glad you made it home safe!! There's no way I would drive in it, I would have gotten a hotel room in Barrie, and made sure it had a restaurant with a full bar! LOL

Debbie I have been praying and praying for you, hoping things get better! Good grief this process takes a long time! I'd be beyond impatient but what do you do?

Shirley I'm glad Tubby had a better day, I've been praying and praying for you too. Hearing about Betty's dinner and your brownies made me hungry....again.

Baton Rouge, LA

LK - you need to pick ME up first !!! LOL.....

Well - I've read all but just so so tired to respond... more 'issues' with DS tonight...

Boy is he GOOD at knowing what to say to make Momma happy... he said all the right things tonight... now just to see if it takes action...

AND to make it worse ... it's his 19th Birthday tomorrow... my baby....

Betty- your news of Mike & Ann makes me so sad... My Thoughts & Prayers for them....

Barb - I know these gas prices are horrendous... sounds like you had a good albeit busy day... Hope you got all errands done...
Elf /Kris - you are in "my zone" so I am watching what you are planting.... never tried any of those....

Shirley - hope Tubby was able to enjoy some of that delicious supper....

Oops be right back

Baton Rouge, LA

LK - we need to get Betty playing scrabble with us on FB! We can all 3 play !

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That sounds good.
Is there a way to save the scrabble link on my Facebook page so I don't have to search for it every time?
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready, and there is hot orange rolls today.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, mild outside this morning, wind has died down, expecting heavy rain all day, will leave a tad bit earlier as I'm sure there is ice under the snow packed ruts.

Debbie, we all have our way with dealing with things when we are down...think perhaps mine is going none stop, high energy mode so that there isn't a moment to think...she will be able to talk to him nightly though won't she?

Listening to the news, lots of bus and school cancellations in the are..had thought of driving to the city after work but guess that is out....

Want to play scrabble with you all, I'll go on facebook and see how I can find you

Mary, happy birthday to that young man. Wow 19. Anybody want to be that age? Thank goodness he's realizing he hasn't been kind to you of late

Debbie let us hope there is good news for you this Monday, hard being patient when your home is hanging in the balance.

Dianne, been missing you...wondered last night if you have same weather in your neck of the woods?

Shirley, don't you wish we could have the life o f the furies, look at mine, comfy as can be, well fed enjoying the life of leisure. Now that is life!

Crissy am sure you've gone through a few tank fuels of gas by now, good gas mileage?

Laura,how's the back this morning?

Think Susan wallpapered herself under the paper as she's mighty quiet..

Barb, how are you making out with you friend!s wilt top?

Waving to any I've missed, time to get a move on

Victoria Harbour, ON

Love to taste you orange rolls LindaKay..that app that I have goes to facebook or I think email...will check it out when I get to the office

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Morning All!

Thanks for the orange rolls Linda Kay. I can smell the aroma. They taste as good as they smell. The coffee is delicous also.

Mary, tell the young man Happy Birthday for us. I don't think I would want to be that age again unless I could have the knowledge I have now at that young age. There are times I wonder what life would be like if I had choicen the other path, was not meant to be. Oh well, it just gives us something to think about.

Betty drive careful to work. Will be glad to hear from you when you get there. Have a good day!

It's a bit frosty out this morning, but is to warm up and the sun is shining so that helps.

Laura and Elfie hope the backs are doing better and that everyone with headaches are gone.

Everyone have a great day and will chat later!

Shirley

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shirley, mild out, snow is a melting (not quick enough for me but quickly) ..maybe I can take out a hose and wash it away this weekend...I'm looking forward to getting water in the pond and hearing the sounds of the spray...as soon as my plowman is ready for landscaping I've a hole to dig for secondary pond and a few ideas floating around in this head of mine...come on spring...it's a start changing the time this Saturday isn't it?

What do you have planned for today and what are you using to rid yourself of the tub sealer?

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Betty I just came up from getting rid of all the old chaulking. I will go back down in a few minutes and clean it all up and wash things down. I am going to go down in the old basement and see if we have any drywall mud and repair the two places on the wall. When shower is completely dry I will rechaulk things. I will maybe go to town and see about paint or else talk to Tubby about what kind of wood I am to cut and put in around window ao I can stain the wood and the wood that needs to be cut to trim in door frame. I just really need to dust and vacum also. Work is never done. LOL! I think there are too many ideas swimming around in my head, what do you think?

Tubby just had a piece of brownie for breakfast. Not a very good one, but it's something.

Okay, back to the salt mines!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Shirley and Tubby. Tell Tubby the brownies are better with ice cream on top!

The best thing I learned today?? To not overreact to bad news..

The worst thing I learned today?? That I officially have Rumitoid Arthritis...

This is ontop of degenerative back disease...sigh.

My reaction to all the above,,

I can do my gardening, crafts and art, abet more slowly and with a little more difficulty. But I can do it!!!! So I am ok, not happy, but ok with it.

Okay Elfie did you make that potting table or do you have directions? I truly LOVE IT! I want to make one for my sis. I know she'll like it better than the one she seen that I took pictures of. Sorry to hear about you having RA. I know that it is important to keep moving. It's okay to take things slow, besides they always seem to wait for ya. LOL! Hopefully they can give you something to help with the discomfort and make it a bit easier to move.

I was just outside looking for the lumber to trim the windows with and down the basement to get the drywall mix. Okay I better get back at it. Take care. Oh ya, if you do have a pattern or directions for the potting stand can I get it from ya? Thanks!

Tubbytee, no I did not make this yet, but as soon as I do I will get the plans to you. It is just a picture I found on the web and I decided I want to fdo it for Goobers house. My friend in Dothan made one and I was going to ask him how he did his. I belive he used an old wooden door with windows in the top half, then he added an old beat up table , cut out an opening for a cement mixing tray and then painted it blue then while the sanded in odd areas to make it look distressed. This is such a cool idea, isn't it.

I think I have more pics too, I will look.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohhhh absolutely love it, was going to beat Shirley to it and ask same question..I've got one I made a few years ago but sure would like that one on one of the decks..hmmmm in the next while until I can actually put my hands in the soil I could play with wood...

going back to have a good look..

Arthritis is the pitz Kris, think it's better when you keep active isn't it?

Oh happy days, Paul decided to come in and do a 2:30 meeting instead of one of the men from our Toronto office leaving a problem, pay day today and Toronto office has to be paid...I ever so nicely said, too bad payday wasn't tomorrow because I have to go to Toronto this afternoon but I'd be too late for payrol...sooo he said, call Wayne and have him meet you at the mall and leave after the girls come back from lunch....I'm doing the happy dance, that means most likely I'll be home by regular hour

Victoria Harbour, ON

Went back and looked at the project...very similar to the one I have except the backing is done in picket fence soooo I'm up to it????

Glenview, IL

Hi...

Well life here is sorta spinning outta control.

Still issues with DD#2.
Anthony and Julia are back to work, they were on vacation last week.
Nice they are home by 11:30 opposed to 12:30-1.

We are heading to Springfield, Il tomorrow, weigh in is in the evening!
Jacob and another team mate have made it to the next round, If they place again they will then go to Nationals.
Jake took 3rd and friend took 1st in the Sectionals...We went to the wrestling banquet last night.
He received his Large letter!!

Steve finished up a couple small projects that were put on hold.
Now he is starting the house around the block...He's home a little more often, but still feels over whelmed.
So he's been super cranky, in order to keep some peace, i've dedicated a lot of time sorting through his caos!!
Sigh, I really didn't want to do this, but he just can't get motivated to do it. Now my carft table has all his paper work on it in nice, neat assorted piles. Asked him what he wants to do with it all, his answer, he can't think about it right now, ACKKKKK, it can't stay there. So I have to figure out what to do with it...

I have been busy sewing, finished my first Row!! Now planning out the SOH block for spring.
Chose my next blocks and material for 2nd and third row

Just can't stand all the clutter any more...in between, laundry and cleaning.
Continuing on with my Kitchen project. on Tuesday Cleaned out and scrubbed under the sink.
LOL, of course had to go to Menards and got some liner paper...
Well what really triggered the trip was I needed a new vaccume cleaner. So got that and now I power cleaning again.

Betty!! My goodness, Thank you so very much for the necklaces and earrings. I love them. They made my day on Tuesday.
I was so glad to hear you and Debbie had a nice breakfast. Glad you all got home safely. Yow, even through a blizzard with a pounding headache....Sure hope new glasses are what is needed...Sorry to hear the latest bit f news about Mike.

Mary, In scaling things down, found the book! LOL, still searching for the other one, but it might be at the Cottage, so will send it seperately. So will make a trip to PO soon...Bummer your having issues with DS, I wonder if it's the not sure if i wanna be a kid or adult thing...But HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HIM TODAY!!!

Sending Healing prayers to Betty, Kris, Laura, Tubby, Bev, Shirley's DGD, Debbie...and Gentle Arm Wraps too.

Linda Kay, I hope the trip to Michigan is good, ooohhh and just Maybe you and Betty can meet up, that is exciting.
I sure hope and Pray a nice retirement place is found for your Dad...A very tough decision, You and your family will be comforted with knowing he will get around the clock care?

Shirley, Hope that you and Tubby have an easy day. Glad to hear he's been eating a bit.

Kris, Awesome table!! Also, i enjoyed your shadow boxes too, very pretty.

Waiving Hi Debbie, how is your foot?? Hope all goes well at the dentist.

Big Happy smiles, Thank you again Betty!!

I'm still practicing...This is a large scale. my first practice blocks were about 6 inches complete.
I like it better on the larger scale...ROFLOL, this WAS suppose to be a 12x12 complete, only When i figure it out, for some reason
make the piece as a 12 in oppose to 6inches! DUHHHH> But it is pretty.

heheh, this will go to my sampler along with all the other practice pieces.

and my new neat and clean undersink! LOL, it was jamm packed with all kinds of stuff and eww was in major need of cleaning.
Now to paint the floor trip black and some miner touch ups on cabinet.

Ok, well got to switch laundry out and get on the next project!

Hope you all have a good day!

Judy, I am envious of your sewing talents......and your cleaning! I have absolutely no ambition of late.

I am sorry to hear about the kids and issues, I think you, Mary & myself are in the same wagon with these age group...so close.

My foot walking wise is much better. The top of it hurts like H^%&^ and a call to the doctor just told me "You had major soft tissue damage, that was worse than the break itself and will take time to heal." Grrrr. I am wearing shoes, I have to go out, so it is just slow and steady.

Big arm wraps!
Debbie

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty I get 350 miles on 10 gallons of gas!!!! I'm luvin' it!!

Wow Judy, that's a pretty quilt square and you can teach me how to clean under the sink, mine is packed with a bunch of old cleaning supplies that I'm sure could be thrown out, if we haven't missed it by now means we probably won't miss it at all!

That's about it Debbie, slow and steady. Nothing is worse than ligament/soft tissue damage, it is better to break a bone.

So glad you get out of there early Betty! Woo Hooo!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Judy, geesh, you and Betty both make me tired, just reading your post, with all your cleaning, and crafting!
Sounds like it is time to out your foot down, and administer some tough love to those kids. Just tell them, it is going to be like this or else! I had to do that with my kids. Once they realise you mean business, they will straighten out, or will move out on thier own when they get old enough! I know it is a hard thing to do, but for your sanity, you need to be firm!
Sending you big armwraps!

Lyndonville, NY

Excited Mom here. SHane just got an Acceptance letter for his college of choice in their music program. He has wanted this for so long!

Now I have to get used to the thought of him being 2 hours away from here come end of August!

Really is a good thing

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

OMG! Debbie that is such great news. Trust me when I tell you that he will be alright and you will be glad it's only 2hrs away. Shane really does know who has brought him this far even if there are days when you will wonder. One day down the road he will thank you for all you have done and that hug he gives you will be worth it all. Now you have to take it easy on that foot so by graduation you are back to normal gal.

Judy I love the quilt block. Someday I'm gonna do that.

Elfie thanks for all the links to check out on potting tables. I'll check them out this evening when Tubby goes to bed for the night.

I'm kinda of at a stop. The Gambler is on so watching with Tubby, it's one of my favorite movies.

Betty so glad you get to go home at reg. time, just drive careful.

Victoria Harbour, ON

CONGRATULATIONS Debbie ..omg bet you can't wait for him to come home from school today so you can give him the news..truly exciting..oh he might be a singning idol once he completes his music course...then watch out Debbie..lol

Left for Newmarket at 2:00 pm only took 1/2 hr. from Barrie to the Mall to meet up with Wayne, knew where the Apple store was so walked quickly, didn't want to get caught up in afternoon traffic, thrilled that they gave me $150. back...I thought it was to be $100 but guess because I had some bells/whistles with it that's how much I go..thank goodness that Paul let me go because at 2:00 because I'd never have gone tonight even though it was the last day for rebate as the fog is rolling in...took a few minutes to gas up (almost empty and it was $42.00 to fill) usually cost about $35.00..sooo after gassng up I was on the next block to the office, know Paul didn't expect me to come back to work but I felt guilty, he was good enough to let me go to the Apple store that seeing as I could put in 1 1/4 hrs. in this afternoon that I should..nothing worse then feeling guilty...

He's in a meeting right now, he came out to photo copy something and say 'what are you doing here' and smilled so I said I rushed because of the fog..if he finishes the meeting shortly maybe he'll let us go home..be nice to get out early twice in a day...

Judy, you just got to come and do my cupboard..all done except for under the zinc..sure does need it..maybe if it rains all weekend I can make it a weekend project..that's pretty desperate isn't it??? lol now remember, it's not a pendant it's to hold your glasses... thought because you were of Native Indian heritage you'd like the Innukshuk (?) Guess Steve is under pressure to get the house done so it can go on the market..each day will be $$$ in your pocket that he finishes early. Judy, love your sewing projects...ambitious little one aren't you

Kris, will wait until I get home tonight and look at the threads..under all that snow it the planting table I made, no tray in it though.. did teach it as a workshop..who knows might have to try yours and do it as a workshop again..that way I can keep the proto type..it's under a bit of snow, just couldn't find a place to store everything this fall so thought, what to heck, might look nice aged by winter...think it's about 8 years old as it is...had a matching planter chair, not sure if I got rid of it or it's hiding somewhere..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, Betty! You got a little extra refund! How nice!

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Betty, that is good news on the rebate!!

I did not open the letter....I waited for Shane to come home from school and open it. That is his joy for working so hard, I can wait for him and see his face....and it was precious!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

How thrilling was that debbie, I'd probably steamed open the envelope then regaled..kidding of course...lol. Nice to see something good if all his hard work!

Yes, the rebate will most likely cover 1/4 of mt glasses....in one hand and out the other.

On my way home tonight I dropped into Craighurst at the quilt shop as I've 2 patterns that came in, closed it was, must have left early as I got there just before 5....I'll drop in tomorrow seeing as I get off at 3 pm

Might warm up the tomato/hamburger/macaroni from last night for quick eats, didn't have lunch today..already laying on the couch, had my bath, took a pill for headache and if I don't get a move on I'll get a
lazy on and won't even do that. Lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That is such wonderful news Debbie. You must be thrilled for him. And 2 hours is nothing.....
I will not be on much this weekend. We have Sean and maybe Brandon as well until Sunday. Mom and Dad have the use of a time share up north and are going snowmobiling before the rain takes all the snow!!! When Sean is here now, he wants to play on the computer so I let him use mine.
I picked up my big Boston Common quilt from the quilters yesterday and I'm over the moon with her work. She did the prettiest cables on parts of the quilt that are going to look so nice when it is on the bed. I still have to sew all the binding down so it may be a while before it's ready. Good old arthritus in my hands only lets me do a little at a time.
Judy, sounds like you are going full steam ahead out there. My cabinets could use a bit of reorganization too. I just have too many sewing projects to get done. I did get the counters and everything on them scrubbed down though.
Wish I had your energy Elf and Shirley. Are there any magic candies out there to give me some get up and go? That planting table is just the sweetest. and Shirley I just don't know how you do it all the way you do.
Betty, glad you are home now safe and sound. Travel this time of year is so unpredictable. You never know what you are going to hit...
Sending big waves to all - Crissy, Dianne, Bev, Mary, Linda (have a safe trip). And more waves to any I've missed.
Off the feed the kids......

Thanks Mud_Elf, That green door night stand will be perfect for my next project. I even have some old glass door knobs that I have been holding on to for a project of some kind and I could see them mounted on the top of the door to hang small things on like the one displayed with knobs holding dried flowers. I have a stack of old doors, too.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Tubby is tucked in for the evening so will watch a little TV and then go downstairs. I can dust and clean the glass without making much noise. He won't go sound to sleep till I shut the TV off. I will chaulk the shower before I call it a night. I'll come home tomorrow while he is at dialysis and finish the vacuming and scrub the floors. If I don't get any painting done this week end I will bring up some of the potting mix and trays and have him start some tomatoe seeds and a few other things. That will give him something to do and hopefully make him feel a bit better. They say it's to be in the 60's - 70 next week. I told him if it was warm enough I would take him out while I'm pulling weeds and clearing things off. I know that will help also. I'll still have to bundle him up because that won't be warm enough for him.

Okay, good night and sweet dreams to all!
T&S

Shirley, you are wearing me out with all you do!! All I got done today was to make 3 frogs from clay, cleaned up the mermaid head, and washed some clothes. Terrible waste of a day.

Welcome Holly!! Please make yourself at home. We talk about everything here!!

If we could just dry out a little Ralph says he will help me make the potting bench. I am definately going to do the one with the tub so I can have him fill up as needed with potting soil. That will save me the lifting!! I love the one using shutters and I have some of those, plus I have a concrette tub, and I have old windows too. Also I have 4 wooden poster from my old queen ann bed so will be refurbishing those to for this project. And have lots of paint so I can make it colorful!! The only thing I am going to need will be an old door and I can get one from the local junk yard for $5.00!!!

Glenview, IL

Congratulations Shane!!!

We are very sad this evening.
Our Cousin Danny, Joyce's brother was killed instantly ( I Believe) in a car crash, this morning.
