Spring spending spree part 4

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

nice that you got some in already patti - april has me nervous with what i have coming - i need lots of 1 gal containers for hosta liners and 4" conifers!

South Hamilton, MA

I looked out upstairs window & saw that 'chuck' is out eating grass. As long as he stays away from the iris plants. Where is a coyote when you need one?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

did he have a shadow?

South Hamilton, MA

Didn't see one. Sun must be too over head. Hope that he is a single.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Frank, I ordered them through a yahoo plant and bulb buying group. Wha told me about them. Seem good so far. Some are coming from Terra Nova nursery. Fingers crossed. Patti

Thomaston, CT

I'm glad no plants have arrived here yet.....the ice that had melted on the rock ledges is back....ground was crunchy this morning. Patti, I'm anxious to see what your geum blossom looks like....I ordered a geum this year for the first time.....Bill, wished you lived closer.....I had many gallon sized pots that I threw into the recycling bin!

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Chuck has no shadow, bill has no pots......does anyone else here that nursery rhyme?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Possible Noreaster at week's end!

Hallowell, ME

I have 30 1-gal 30 2.5 gal black nursery pots coming via FEDEX. Have to use for numerous dried flower annuals for a couple of friends who make wreaths. Got them from Greenhouse megastore on line. Total cost a little more than $.50/ea including shipping.

I thought you got those from a coop/group but couldn't remember (senior moment). I love sedums anyway and I'm trying to plant a few seeds this year and hope they make it.

Spent a bundle on german statice and sea lavender which is used as a basis for the wreaths. Friends are suppose to share the cost (I hope). I think I've finished spending on perennials this year (if I don't see something I absolutely have to have). DW buys alot of plants and sometimes even cuts me in.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nice deal on pots Frank!!

my easy to grow order should be here tomorrow... bring on the begonias!!!!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

will have to check that place out frank i need about 50 of them - i think i have enough of the larger one - i have plenty of empty containers - the 25 hosta liners i got in the fall used up my supply of that size.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Wow. That is pretty but delphs don't like the CT winters. They are more an annual in my garden.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Beautiful, but they don't return for me either.

Thomaston, CT

They are short lived perennials for me as well.....I do love the color of that one...

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Nor the price. E gads that's a lot of money! Patti

Hope they do OK for you, Jen....I planted them last year & had only a few cream colored blooms....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh gosh I hope so too, did you striate the seeds?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

LOL Frank... love em Jen!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Do you eat them, Jen?

Thomaston, CT

Ooops, no, Jen....didn't know I had to!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Victor, I tried them once but didn't have any taste that I could tell

Robin, It recommends on pkg that you striate to aid in germination

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Just scored a Chocolate Sundae climbing rose on ebay. This after I dragged 10 roses home from Wally world!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I went to walmart over the weekend.. no plant life here yet.. sounds like a nice load!!

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

They had just arrived, so staff hadn't had a chance to kill them yet. Lots of growth, a couple of buds already, the knockouts in yellow were under ten bucks and the others were under eight.

They look great, Dem! Yesterday, I pruned close to 25 roses.....even with monkey gloves, my hands are scratched.... I have a huge shrub rose whose bottom branches are dead....didn't get to that one as it's an hour's job.....no more roses for me for awhile!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Haven't done any cutting or cleaning yet.

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Just like a man to brag about not cleaning up yet! LOL. I haven't cleaned up either, trimmed the clems, put down some crushed limestone for them, and planted some primroses I got a the garden show in Feb, just to cold yet for much else. Plus with my back I'm slower than molasses! However, I have hired someone to come in and help me cleanup this spring, so my poor hubby and his big freaking feet (if there is a peony coming up he finds it with his foot)can stay the heck away from my baby's!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

'big freaking feet' I am laughing cuz I cringe every time I ask DH to dig something for me or divide something I can't cut through, cuz he isn't dainty about where to put his feet. Sometimes it just has to be done, though. Then I apologize to the 'babies' when he is out of earshot. I don't want to lose his muscles. :))))

South Hamilton, MA

Still have to play 'pick up large sticks'. The huge ones DH is forming into poles to help keep deer fencing up. Large tarp full of leaves has been taken down our hill into the woods so I can turn itself into compost. Enjoying the spread of one of the crocus patches.

Hallowell, ME

I ain't cleanin' til it stops snowin'!!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Received my FW order! I'll unbox tomorrow. Sure sign of spring.
