Baton Rouge, LA

Awe ! Our Night Shift has had some Special Guests tonight! And I totally missed it... figured I was the only one on....

Thank you all for stopping in before turning in.... Yes - today a great day. Thank you Judy ! DSD2 is the "Dog Person" of the 3 kids.... so she joined us today and was a big help.
This was our "First" Krewe of Mutts and I do believe we will be back next year...

Thank you Betty ! yes - Belle HAS grown....obviously more lab than terrier... and to think I wondered if she was Chihuahua when DH first brought her home !

Wish Deb had been able to come but if she had... she'd have surely taken home a few. They had "Adopt Me" pets everywhere... This "Mardi Gras" type parade is a fundraiser for Animal Welfare....

Hugs all,

Mary

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Mary, you know me well....very well. Gosh, just breaks my heart animals needing homes. My Mom always said between animals and kids...I would have all those in need.

We are getting pelted with some nasty snow right now.....horrible out there. THey are saying 12 to 16 inches.....not sure if it is all here...but the only one happy is Izzy.

This week is beyond booked for me....and with kids home. Shane has to go back to the college Tuesday afternoon for placement testing. We also have the law appt. Tuesday morning.

I just need some sleep right now.....so sweet dreams

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty I am here. Dad and I went for a long ride today! i try to get him out on Sunday. That bread pudding really sounds good, will you share the recipe please?
Mary, I found the scrabble game.

Baton Rouge, LA

Yay LK ! I'll go check it now... ((HUGS))....

Deb - you all will have to come down one year and check out the Krewe of Mutts with me ! Glad you may get some answers this week....and praying they include some good news...

Mary

Verona, ON

Debbie we are getting pelted here too. Wouldn't you know I was just out this afternoon looking at *gasp* green patches of grass showing on the south side of the house. Got all excited, poked around a couple of the flower gardens that have bulbs in them but didn't see any signs of new growth.
Mary your Belle is adorable. She looks very much like our first dog Tasha who was a Lab.The pics made me really smile.
Now Judy what are you going to do the next time one of your kids stays out all night and doesn't call? They can always use the excuse but we called and Julia didn't tell us.lol Congrats to Steve on the new job - I would never get anything done way up in that building - be too busy looking all around at the view.
One of my nieces FB me yesterday, haven't heard from her in almost 15 years and then her DB FB me and I haven't heard from him in over 5 years. Wonder what's up? Haven't responded to either of them yet, thinking out a game plan because knowing them they want something and it is usually $$$$$. Hate to be like that, but that is what they have always contacted me about before. As you can see we are not a very close family.
Betty you are going to post that Bread Pudding recipe aren't you? It looks yummy! If my dad wanted to get mam going he would ask for bread pudding and then say it wasn't as good as his mother's. Oh you should have seen the sparks fly out of mam's eyes!!
Started reading Matterhorn tonight which is a novel based on fact novel set during Vietnam era. I am very passionate on the topic to the point I will not even go visit good friends who are teaching there for 2 years. DH woke up and said what are you crying over? When I told him it was Matterhorn he responded "Oh lordy you aren't going to cry through the whole thing are you?" It's a very big book.
Shirley thinking about you and Tubby tonight.Glad Tubby enjoyed his KFC.
OK Crissy what are you up to?
LK loved the strawberries! Great gift for Betty in the rock swap.
Need to go sit by the fire.
Dianne

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Shirley - glad Tubby enjoyed the KFC. We did something different for dinner - I bought a bucket of frozen breaded chicken from our grocery store - 8 pieces in the bucket (fully cooked) and did 4 pieces (2 each), leaving 4 for another night. Was really good - better than KFC, more like "chubby chicken" from A&W! I like it better than KFC. Made some instant potatoes with chicken gravy - really good, too! Add frozen veggies and dinner ready in 1/2 hr.

Betty - Bob & I have been "worked over" financially so many times by con-artists that it's not surprising that I don't wear my rose-coloured glasses anymore.
I love people, I'm just more cautious, and also protect my feelings a little more - have been hurt too many times, too. The main thing is, if you don't open your heart to being hurt, you can't open your heart to love, so I never close my heart

Mary love the pics of your Belle. Parade looks like fun.
Glad Tubby enjoyed KFC. Shirley there is always paperwork and telephones to be answered at work.
The dollhouse quilt is made of fabric and will try to post when done.
Crissy what did you get?
Warm here 50 still windy.
Coffee is on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning,

Was snowing when I went to bed, only got about 2" so not a lot to shovel this morning. Sailor must have listened to me because she didn't wake me until 6a.m.

Debbie, hope the storm passed you by and you didn't get all they predicted.Been a rough winter in your area this year, you'll be glad to see spring arrive.

Mary, will you make a float for next year? Wouldn't that be a fun family project!!! You make the float and I'll make the costume...lol

Susan, which grocery store sells the buckets of chicken..sounds like something I should buy and have in the freezer! Loved the last lines of your post!!!!!

Linda Kay, I'm sure your dad appreciates getting out on Sundays..anywhere special you try to bring him..know often it's the lake?
Is he anxious to travel to Michigan?

Dianne that's enough to make you nervous..I've a relative who does much the same, always know by the tone o voice in the 'hello' that I'll be asked to do something or loan her money..usually I start my conversation with how busy/busy I am, lots of running around for family, purchases to upgrade the house, how financially taxing it is..etc.etc and lately it seems to stop her from asking, now she rarely calls! lol They did say last night on the news that the storm was heading your way, hope most of it missed you..lordy you are up late or you've gotten up extra early..lol I was amazed the other day Dianne at just how green the grass under the snow was, now of course it's all covered in a blanket of white again.

Have everything out to play this morning, no housework to do..have the list of your eyeglass holders (color) and pendants for some, have almost all of them made but not quite so will make more this afternoon..planning a week from Sat. to cross over the border and want to get them mailed..was wondering, if I put hard cardboard as a backing to them if I could get away with mailing in a bubbled envelope without their breaking, guess it's worth a try.

Is it a holiday today for you all...don't think any of you gave me the answer..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Of course I'll share the recipe..

Basic Bread Pudding

In a large bowl combine the following:

4 cups bread cubes (lightly packed into the cup) approx 4 to 5 slices
1/2 cup brown suguar (packed)
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
1/2 cup raisins or 1/2 cup 5 fruit (found in same aisle as raisins)

Now:

1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk

Add Butter to milk and microwave for about 4 minutes or until butter is melted. Rapidly stir in eggs with a fork and mix well. pour over bread cubes and mix

At this point if you have wax paper you can cover the dish (optional)

READY to set into a baking dish into the microwage for about 11 to 13 minutes

When cooked, center may still be slightly soft but it will set up as pudding cools...Served warm or chilled...add whip cream or ice cream if you really want to ohhhh and ahhh

Note: cooking time may vary depending on microwave..you'll learn this once you've made your first pudding as to lessen or increase cooking time.

Laura, omg, didn't realize it was the pattern for the quilt, must be a zillion pieces or is it a pre-printed top? How adorable, wouldn't that look nice on a bed, any chance you could try and make a replica in wood? slap me silly right!

Lexington Park, MD

This is the Panda we watched eating at the zoo. I could have stayed there and watched all day.

Lyndonville, NY

Housse, when I lived in Virginia, I worked in DC....and every Sunday at least twice a month....I was at that zoo. I just loved it there. I would pack a lunch, and just browse. I think that is also where I fell in love with photography.

Dianna, I have/had daffodils up about 2 inches on the south side of the house. Now, they are burried. The snow we had was about 6 inches last night...but blowing and drifting so hard there are still green patches in some areas.....and piles in others.

Don't know why I am up.....no school today for Presidents day, but Izzy needed to go out and I should go back to bed...at least the couch.

Crissy...sure hope you didn't forget that picture to post at work! lol

Everyone stay warm and safe.....I think I am going to crash back on the couch.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Washington is a place regardless how many times you visit there is always more to see..would love to travel through a few of the states and do the battlefields on my way to Washington, bet there are several things including the Zoo that I could visit..hmmm not far from you either Laura!!

Ahhh you just answered my question Debbie, it's President's Day, only way I'd have known that was I think when Joann's fabrics sent me their flyer it said something about only 3 days left to Presidents Day.

Are you getting around any better Debbie without being in pain?

Lyndonville, NY

On the mend Betty, still some discomfort but doing better. Stepped wrong on Friday while at the college, lots of construction and irritated it. The kids here are off all week for a "winter" break of sorts. Nothing like being stuck home with no car and kids that constantly need to go somewhere! lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Maybe Debbie you should skip town and let them fend for themselves..
I imagine you will have to be very cautious of how and where you walk as it's very fragile...

Brrrr cold downstairs, best put on some heat!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Good Morning All!

Great pictures. The dogs are so cute, I bet it was fun. Our dogs would go crazy and I don't think I could get them to leave a costume of any sort on let alone a leash since they are farm dogs. LOL
Tubby only ate a few bites last night, but I will take what I can get. He is napping right now. I know he is having alot os discomfort, but doesn't complain. It tells me that his myeloma is growing. I will mention to the Dr. and see what he has to say.
Crissy can't wait till you post a picture. I just have a strong feeling it's a kitty.
I am not sure how to post a picture and Tubby is not sure anymore. If anyone can tell me I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Debbie take care of yourself and be careful.
Yes it's President's day, it only lets people who work for the Gov., like court houses, banks and post office workers off. I don't think any employer celebrates it by giving the day off.
Betty love the quilts as they will be beautiful when you get them all put together.
I'm not sure what the weather is to be like here today. The sun is trying to come out. There is hardly any snow left in the back yard which is on the north side of the house. I seen alot of doggie poop, so will have to pick that up before it's safe to walk out there. The snow is gone on the south side and I can see the flower garden across the drove that needs work badly. I have a lot of big plans this year. I will only put in a small garden this year. No sense growing more then I need. The kids can grow their own.
I am sewing on the next comforter so will get back to that till it's time to leave for dialysis. I'll check back in later today. We hope that everyone has a good day and be careful.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Crissy it is sweet! It looks nice and I'm sure it drives great. What color is the interior? I'm surprised you weren't out driving around. I bet you look really good sitting in the drivers seat. Congrats!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Nice car Crissy!
Betty, I try to take dad out in the country somewhere, so he can have the chance to see wildlife! Wild turkey's, deer, armadillo.... Yesterday was pretty cloudy, so we did not see much. Maybe all the animals were napping?

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Betty, don't know if it is just my computer???? but I can not read your recipe!!!! it looks like two posts on top of each other???

can you re post??? ( never mind...I can see it ok now....must have been my computer!!!)

it is raining...oak leaves here...which means SPRING...time to dig out the allergy pills, and start to do some weeding in the yard.....sorry some of you are still getting snow!!!

OMG Crissy, it was one of the three things I had mentioned, took me by surprise though, lordy that's service for you, 2 months early...bet you are thrilled...it's a beauty and I'll say like Shirley, bet you look pretty (*&* good sitting behind that wheel...well, now on to get the other 2 things I guessed...you are one lucky lady!!!

Shirley, you are smart not taking on more than you should, know Tubby loves his gardens but as he's not up to it yet a small patch that you sow for him to look at will bring a smile I'm sure.

Kris, lots of work remodelling isn't it especially when you live in the house you are working on..everytime I say that's it I come up with a few more things that need done.

LindaKay, didn't realize you have so much wildlife that you can take a ride and see a lot..

Been ironing for last hour all the Christmas Fabric to see what I have and what I shall need..nothing like being organized..have a list of the blackboard of many items I require, sure hope Joann's has more sales the weekend I go.

Back is killing me again, think another pain killer is needed....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thunder, you didn't say how your visit went with the family...what did you all get into??? My brother Bernie has been in Daytona for the races, think he brought along his bikes, what kind do you have?

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

DIL and GD were only here for a few days, and I had to work...so we just stayed home and "visited" she is now at her moms...will stay there for a week?? two??? who knows??? then be back here for another visit......It is always a blast to play with my grand daughter!!!

that race was great!!! I did not see the beginning as I was at work, but got to see the end!!! so Happy that young kid won!!!

we have a Harley, road king custom..can't think of the year at the moment?? it was the road kings model anniversary , so there was a "special model" limited edition...only so many made??? anyways they called it the "road king custom"
this is it, and one of the boys dirt bikes..

I wish she could...and come to my house! :)

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Shirley the interior is black. I will try my best to never have a tan or gray interior again, it gets too dirty with valet parking every day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lovely bikes Thunder, Bernie has Harley's and also trike bikes for he and his wife..I'll have to get photo's..he did come and take me out on the trike a few years ago, lordy did enjoy it, not so sure I'd like the motorcycle but the trike I could ... so comfy in that large back seat that I could almost bring a craft along with me..lol

Road trip/road trip Crissy, know a few girls you could pick up along the way...

Maggie, you would so enjoy Debbie's company, she's a darling..I so try every time I'm in her neck of the woods to meet up with her..
How are the kids Maggie, are they enjoying the outside..will be first spring in your neighborhood right? Loved your neighborhood, can picture kids playing, neighbors walking the street and chatting!!! Are you gaining strength Maggie?

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Crissy what about seat covers? They sure help alot and they help to get more money when you are ready to trade as interior is like new. We have them on the truck and never got them for the Durango. I sure wish we had cause there have been some burn holes in a couple that wouldn't have happened if the seat covers were on. I wil get some gray darning thread someday and weave them shut.

I'm showered and dressed and still have to put on my lashes and then I'm ready to meet the girls for lunch. I will get Tubby ready in a bit and start the vehicle. It is not suppose to be very warm out today. It is suppose to reach 50* by Wednesday and then I think the weather is to change again.

Thanks for the receipe Betty. I will let you know when I try it. I look forward to the day I can take Tubby outside and have him soak up the sun. It'll have to get alot warmmer first, will give us something to look forward to.

Well, I better go start the vehicle and get Tubby ready as they moved his time to 11:15 now. Chat later. Have a great day everyone!

I would love to meet Debbie in person!
We are all doing great. Last week, though, we were all sick with the flu....crappy! Better now. I like my little quiet neighborhood. People are always walking their dogs and they stop to say hello. It's been nice here this last week. I've been looking on bluestone's website. I need to order some flowers. Hope to have a pretty yard this year. Also need to find a local sod company. We don't have much grass & I hate looking at it. I need Kentucky blue grass!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I gotta stop putting so many miles on my cars, I commute 75 miles a day and that should be plenty, but NOOOO I love driving!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ann just left, had a nice visit, tomorrow she and Mike are off to Barrie hospital again, Mike has already said he'd NOT going to stay if they say he should..nope, will not do..I imagine they'll not do chemo with the tube insterted to let air out...his breathing isn't the best...Ann was a little upset when she spoke to the girls, one said she was glad that they told her Mike's proganosis and would have been angry had they not done so while the other daughter was upset, she'd rather not have know..so Ann says seems she can't do anything right!

She's so cute, we play t.v.bingo every Tuesday night except when Mike needs special care so she went into Midland to the variety store and bought our cards this week as normally the winners of the jackpot purchased cards at Duggars Variety, she ssems to think with these cards we'll win the big jackpot..lol..let's hope she's right

Maggie you've so many trees in the yard that alone would be difficult to grow Kentucky grass right? Now's the time we've all got our nursery catalogues out checking the seeds and plants. I'm lucky to have the Garden Gallery so close to work, often go looking around on my lunch hour.

Cathy just called to tell me the renovations at the grocery store in town will be right up my alley, they will provide various cooked trays of food...oh happy days, less cooking for me! lol

Shirley, lashes??? you sure do get dolled up..only makeup I use is lipstick and most of the time can't find the tube to put it on..lol

Been sitting upstairs doing some paper work for taxes, back and legs paining so gave up on a few projects I was working on downstairs..

Going to go look for rice, maybe turkey cut up in rise with a sauce will hit the spot for tonights dinner...

Crissy, love travelling as well..what I now have on my vehicle should have taken a normal family 8 years to put on...just give me sunshine and tunes and a roadmap and off I go.

Must go call the boys, after all it is family day...one is on his skidoo in some part of the north, the other at an arena..they'll not hear the call but at least it will show I called.

Did call Sharon, she's worse than she was yesterday and now her daughter is ill as well..not good..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I hope Sharon gets well soon!

Betty I bet you do have a lot of miles, I'm the same way though, Dave's the one who keeps me grounded, which isn't a bad thing!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Last time I had an oil change Crissy I was up to 165,000 kl. which I think is about 100,000 miles - that is a lot when you consider vehicle is only
3 1/2 years old...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, sorry to hear about Mike not doing well. Sending them prayers.

Betty, maybe you hurt something with your last slip and slide? Maybe you should call the Dr.?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I had 85,100 miles on mine when I traded it in last Saturday, it was a month shy of 3 years old.

I'm tired tonight.
