Mary,so far it's 2 years after Katrina and a bunch of hood guys getting into mischief, the main character has just gone back to school..put him in slower class, grade 9, came from a wealthy family, private school previously, lost mom/dad and all in Katrina and is now living with 2 cousins, one a bit older I believe and one soon to be jailed..not sure yet if it's my kind of book but I will continue to read it. As for my sister, she's 3 years younger than I..we weren't raised together, I was raised with my grandparents at age of 6 months till I married, it's just been the last

As for scrabble I love it..I sometimes play an on-line game with Sharon..I make my move press a key and it alerts her so she can play..this goes back and forward until game is won..sometimes 1 move takes a day when we're busy but it's fun..will have to ask her for the link..lost everything on this computer and work computer over repairs during last couple of months.. Maybe we could play a game???

Shirley, maybe it was a good thing that you were near tears yesterday, might give the doctor an extra nudge to try and get his chemo done from home.

Betty, how much is gas up your way. It has been right at $3.00 here for about a week now. Sure hope it does not go up too much more!

Mary yes we have DVR, love that thing! We watch 4 to 5 shows at a time but the networks are getting smart and having all the channels go to commercials at the same time, makes Dave mad because he can't watch one show while the other is on commercials. I think it's funny. We record one show and watch the other show.

Gas is $3.00 here too.

Weather changes almost every 5 miles, was dark and gloomy 1st 5 miles, sit of sleet the next 5 miles and heavy rains until I got to Barrie..not the nicest of days but still beats snow!

I just called Ann for an update, she says she's been vomiting since last night, can hardly stand up..said I'd drop in to check on her tonight but she said she might have to go pick up Mike in Newmarket if he's released today..well, it's not very smart to release him if she's fighting the flu but I offered seeing I'm about 45 minutes from the hospital to go get him and then drive him the 1 1/2 hr. drive home..not sure she'll take me up on it but hope so.

Crissy is the DVR the t.v. that you can have multiple screens..please/please do not tell me about more high tech toys as I'm a gadget person.

Did smell skunk on my way to work this morning, very strong, looked in the back window in hopes I didn't run over him but no signs of him...thank goodness the smell stayed in that neck of the woods..

Well, I've been doing laundry and trying to put somethings away. Tubby is in recliner watching TV. I'm gonna do dishes soon and go check on the laundry. The temps are to get up in the 60's so it should be nice. I will hang the one King size comforter out to dry. I took to town yesterday to wash in big machines. I bought some comforters for the furniture to protect them from the dogs. I will cut one in half and sew on to enlarge them. They were so cheap that is why they don't cover enough by using one. It was sprinkling out earlier, so sun is shining now. I have to clean and scrub floors and vacum.

Betty I hope Ann lets you pick Mike up for her, but hate to see him go home if she has the flu. I'm sure he is susceptible to catching anything. Wish them both better health and prayers for them also. Gas is $3.15 a gal. here, amazes me how it varies from state to state.

There's a skunk or two around here and that is only because of the rats. I'm gonna order some rat poision today and spread around the buildings. Once they go the skunks will also, or get killed.

DVR is a digital video recorder. It hooks up to your tv, and you can record tv shows or movies to watch later. Call your cable company, and see what they have.

Betty LOL!! Actually I was answering Mary's question. The DVR records anything that's on tv, we have Dish so it's part of the service they provide. Split screen is extremely hard to find, it's almost obsolete if not by now. We change channels to watch multiple shows, nothing technical about that!

I agree! That's not a good idea for Mike to be going home if Ann has the flu. Maybe it's nerves causing her to be sick...??

Steve wanted me to go to the docs but, remember I took Julia and they told her it was a viral infection, so I just have to ride it out.
Was not a ride i want to take again...and I sure hope it's coming to an end, yikes lost 2.5 over it.
Got to tell you, i am not a big medicine taker, always think it just prolongs whatever, but i did take Mucinex, Had nightmares about them cute/ugly little boogers from the commercial taking up residence in my my system!! Sigh, i was right, although it helped very little, unless it took it that long to break up, it's now getting expelled thank goodness!

I had to check gas prices around here....the lowest is $3.34 up to $3.42 in come places.....so it is NOT a happy time filling up the tank.

Just in the dumps, tired of one crisis after the other...and since everyones health is good here...(knock wood) I dont' want to complain. We have appt. Tuesday in Rochester with some place that might be able to help with the house.

On top of that...tomorrow we take Shane (my baby) to go look at a college that is almost 2 hours away. It is a Community College...but has the courses he wants to take. Next week, he is on "winter" break.

No the brakes aren't fixed yet...sigh....he found someone up the road who has the same 4-wheeler and he'll fix them for $10.00 plus $20.00 in parts. Dave went to town yesterday and do you think he stopped to get the parts...NOOO! You would think since this has to do with my safety on the thing it would be first on the list, but if he doesn't need it than nobody needs it, never mind how hard it is for me with tendonitis in my wrists to push on the one hand brake that controls the one front brakes, it's easy for him so that's all that matters I guess.

Now that I've ranted about that! LOL

Paco is doing fine, not too many words, just squaks and whistles a lot, especially if he is hungry, and were not sharing. he eats very little seed, he eats what we do, sandwhiches, pork chops, chicken, spaghetti...
Crissy, he needs to get those fixed, so no one gets hurt. Sounds like most men, if he does not need it fixed, then guess no one does either!

Me and him are the only two people who ride it, so it's not a big worry that there are a bunch of people at risk, which is good, but it ticks me off, he doesn't procrastinate on anything except when it's something I need done. Yes MEN!!!

Debbie/Judy, you know you are never far from my thoughts, want to pick up the telephone often to make sure you are well but think better of it, sometimes when ill or on a downer you just don't want to talk to anyone...just d-mail when you want to gab and I'll call!

That was quite the flu you had Judy, for the sake of losing 2.5 lbs. think I'd have passed on it.

Debbie,we'll all be praying from now thru to Tuesday that they will be able to help you keep your home. That alone is enough to send you over the top. Debbie that means that Shane would have to find lodgings right? Is there no college closer that he could commute..don't know how kids / parents pay for College even when economy is good. Wow, only $1.00 difference in our gas, not a lot is it. We'll have to get ourselves a motorcycle or moped in order to travel.

Crissy, you tell Dave it's a must..ask him what he thinks he'd do if for some reasons you needed brakes and couldn't use them? do you have long term disability?????

Linda Kay and Judy, Suzanne finally found someone who wanted Ralph, they had him for over 30 years..they've been going every few weeks to visit him but he's now pulling his feathers, a thing he's never done before so this weekend I believe they will go get him !

Ann just called, she went and drove to NewMarket to get Mike, she thought he'd fret too much if I picked him up..he has a tube for drainage, Mike had had enough and wanted to be home! He's now in bed and Ann will have a hot tea, a bath and off to bed as well..she knows to call me anytime so let's hope she does..

Well, took my box of receipts here to work, almost have them organized by month and by date, tonight I'll enter them into the bookeeping log and will be ready to do income tax..not fond of that!!!!!

Betty, all three of the girls have paid for their own college tuition. And, Shane will do the same, that is why a community college to get his base courses down, then transfer if he wants a higher degree. They have housing on campus, usually they get enough Grad gifts to help purhcase bedding and such....but we help with food costs.

Shane does not have his drivers license yet. He could very easily, we just can't afford to put him on our car insurance, or to purchase him a vehicle. I don't even have a vehicle right now.

66 here now and loving the sun.Sending a bottle north should arrive soon.
Busy running.
Gas is $3.09 today. Could go out tomorrow and the price go up.

Going to cook dinner ......and finish laundry .

The sun is still shining and the breeze is blowing nicely. I hung the comforters out and need to go get them soon. I have the one comforter pinned and will cut it in half and attach to the other. I wanted to run in to Omaha tomorrow while Tubby is at dialysis, but I need to come home and vacum and scrub the floors. The last load of laundry is washing and so that will be done until I soak the whites. I will take a couple of comforters to the LaundraMat and then I can sew them together also.

I will check on the birds tomorrow and see if they need anything before the weekend. That will last a few days. I know I need to check on the cats food also. I'll pick up some feed and dog food tomorrow also.

Crissy why not find out the parts you need from that friend and go get them and have him fix it? I would, but I''m not you and I don't want to start anything. I don't like to put things off when I want it done and know I have someone who will do it for that price.

Debbie, I sure hope you guys can get some help to save your home. I can only imagine the stress you are feeling. Best of luck and I'll say extra prayers for you guys. I know it's alot cheaper to do classes that you have to take at a community college and then go for the big stuff when everything is out of the way. Wish Shane the best.

Betty I'm glad to hear Mike is home and Ann is doing okay. Will continue to say prayers for both of them and hopefully they get the rest that is needed. I need to work on our taxes too, it's a job I ususally put off till the last minute, but I won't this year. I'll start them soon so we can get the refund and use it to pay bills.

Judy it's good to see you are feeling better. Please don't over do too fast as you need the rest and are completely recovered. Take care please!

The weather has been so nice that every time I go outside I want to start to cut down weeds and last years dead flowers. It is too soon to start that, so back inside I go. We are to get some rain this week end. Oh goody, more dirt brought in from the dogs.

Bev, we are having the same car issue as you. DD bought one end of July...it is a major lemon. And DH's used car he bought is dead in the drive needing a new transmission!

Follow the docs new advice....and one day a week...give yourself a tiny little treat for being good. It helps and gives you something to look forward too. Hugs,

Betty - our previous asking price was $25,000. Then we asked $30,000 when it looked like prices were going up a bit, and we were offered $20,000......... A d/p would be $25,000, and we need to pay the salesman $3,000...... do the math, dear lady.
btw - we're currently asking $35,000 cuz the park is not moving!
We're having an Open House on March 5th, so let's see how it goes......

LOL Betty, taking the key is a great idea if it wouldn't stop him from taking it where it needs to go. I have tendonitis in both thumbs, not a 'disability,' more of a minor annoyance LOL!

Shirley I really hope you can get Tubby's dialysis moved to the house, that would be so much easier for the both of you. I thought of that but I work the same hours the ATV place is open, and it's 35 minutes from my work so I can't stop by and pick up parts on the way to work because that would make me late for work and I can't stop by on the way home because we both close at 5pm but I don't pass by until it's 5:35pm.

Debbie I completely understand why you're so down in the dumps, it's hard to keep your head up with so many negatives around you. I hope that they're able to save your house. Chin up gurl!!

Mary, thank you. That is one would think about the foreclosure, but the lawyer said from the papers and phone calls, they are "out for blood." I will be glad when Tuesday gets here so we can find out all that is going on.

Yes, we are hoping for scholarships for Shane. Tomorrow we go to the college and check it out.....and will see options at that time.

Don't care for that lawyer.! Seems to me the banks want the money even if the deal needs to be re-negotiated. The lawyer stands to gain only if there is a disagreement. If the house were foreclosed... it stands vacant (with no one paying mortgage) until the bank can re-sell (in THIS market? Never!.....right Susan? How long have ya'll had home on the market? ) so would think if you go to the bank and work with them....they would want to keep you in the house....

Weather is crazy, it's 48 degrees out right now, by tonight it will be snowing..

Had the family over last night, Greg left early this morning to Algonquin Park by snowmobile..there and back is a 4 days trip..should have left yesterday but it was raining. It's a worry as you never know with mild/cold temps alternating you just don't know how safe the ice is..my brother Mike and 5 other friends are going with him. I'm thankful he has a gps for snowmobile trails.

then Kyle sat with me for 2 hrs. teaching me the ipad and explaining things, how 3g works etc. thank goodness for Kyle, he puts it in layman terms..As we went through it all I wanted to key in my movie channels, he explained that other then hacking no can do..by the time we left he told me to join Nexflix and that way I can watch all the movies/shows I want to on ipad/t.v./home and office computer and even via wii..so this morning did so and have been watching movies...cool...he'll get me organized.

Jeff called this morning, he has hockey all weekend so won't be coming up but invited me to join them..not so sure with my knees/legs acting up that I'll go sit in an arena, besides Melanie might need me for taxi service for the kids as she's not to be driving for another week or so. Jeff said he now has over 400 books downloaded, did enough Danielle Steele to keep me reading for a year..told me to bring my e-book with me Friday when we meet up and he'll get me organized!!

3 more hours then off for 3 days, not sure what I'll get up to but am sure there will be something.

OMG can't believe how much snow melted..nothing on the roof, pathways that I shovelled now bare ground, wouldn't it be something if it stayed such as it is?

Betty my DD# 1bought a lemon of a van and the dealer would not fix van without charging an arm and leg and would not trade for different car. She had van towed back as it would not drive. And she is taking the dealer to small claims court.She may not get any money back but will be public record on said dealer.

Well the party in New Orleans was well worth the short time we spent there... we got there about 8p.... and left around 10p...but it was wonderful.....albeit a 1.5 hour drive there and back.....

Near City Park..... they had Good Food (including wonderful Turtle soup and BBQ Shrimp) I did NOT eat... reporting for DH.....Good Music.....a 9 piece Band with Sax, Trumpet, singers.... was wonderful !

Open Bar....

Susan... I'm thinking that Deb's mortgage company would rather work a deal with her than foreclose on the house... what do you think of that? it seems that so many have lost their homes as of late in this economy that perhaps banks woudl rather work on a plan that works for folks to keep their homes ?

Just my thoughts... I'm curious as to other opinions...

I have never heard of turle soup.
I would think that the bank would try and re-work the mortgage. Better to get some money than let house sit empty and get no money.

Morning all,

From wearing no jacket yesterday afternoon to the highest winds I've seen to snow, blizzard conditions all in one day..calling for much the same for tomorrow and possibly Monday...I got my shopping and groceries done yesterday afternoon so I don't mind staying in my nighty all weekend..

As I say this the phone just rang, Suzanne telling me that they have a Quilt and Craft show in Penetanguishene as part of Winterama weekend, that doesn't even entice me to go out..lol

Furthest is next door to variety store for garbage bags, and that's a maybe, thought I might clean my closet, throw out clothing I'll not wear, clean drawers and that's all the cleaning I have to do today.

Bev, just looking at those photo's is enough to bring a smile, watching mother nature reminds you of all the beauty out there..don't quit smoking just gradually cut down until you no longer want to smoke..funny, I can cut down and change my eating habits but the minute I say 'diet' I want to eat everything in the house.

I'm with you all, it would be worth it for the banks to come up with a manageable payment structure than have yet another house sitting empty...so praying that situation is looked after..Lord says if we all come to him for one he will grant i..so can't imagine him not!

At that point Laura, I'd have painted on the door each side of the vehicle the biggest yellow lemon with bought from ........ and have it sitting somewhere visible..let's hope she gets something..will she have to wait long for a court date?
