Maggie, so nice to see you drop in...was just talking to Ann, she picked up Mike this morning, thank goodness her daughter came up for the weekend because Ann doesn't do driving highways and doesn't drive in bad weather!

Ann was speaking very quietly and when she does that I know Mike's not well..she said that they left the tube in and really didn't want him coming home but he insisted. They were only home an hour when we were gabbing and she wants to go back to the hospital with him, he really is doing poorly but will not go. Ann said they'll keep a close watch on him and if things don't improve tonight she'll call the ambulance which will make him angry but you got to do what you got to do. He is suppose to have Chemo on Tuesday but they'll not do it for sure, if anything they'll keep him in again.

Maggie, you went through a major operation, not sure what they did for Mike. Did they put talcom powder in the lung to make it not stick together??? sounds crazy but guess it works...

If Joyce is out gardening today then that means your weather is warmer also..one thing, you won't have to rake, when I visited you had an entire troupe raking...just be careful and don't over exert!

Wind is still up but snowing has stopped. It's not the amount of snow it's the wind blowing it and causing whiteouts.

Keep thinking I should be going to bed, glanced at the clock..yikes just 6pm and just getting dark..too early yet, have to figure out how to stay awake for at least another few hours.

Maybe Judy should pass the beer around, Maggie, you and I will have wine...anyone up to a drink of hard stuf? that's what I need to warm me up from the inside..

Mary & Betty - it would be nice if the banks thought with their hearts, rather than "by the book" but I'm afraid I'm too cynical. There are enough foreclosures around here for me to think the banks will be anything more than "fair" for a month or two, and then it's "out you go"! I know they're not in the business of selling houses, but they will do so, if they think they aren't getting the $$ from the current owners........

We're going to be working hard on getting our place ready for an open house on March 5th. Bob's already replaced one of the light fixtures in our den, and put a cover on one in our porch. We're getting the bathroom tiled next weekend (currently lino, and previous owners burned a hole in it - not looking very nice. I'm not a fan of lino, anyway! We may have time to put the baseboards up in the bedroom - right now they're leaning up against the wall. IF I have time, I'll repaint the bedroom a nice medium tan - more sale-able than the turquoise green it is now LOL
Then it's time to put a whole bunch of Rubbermaid bins in the storage sheds in the back (paperwork & quilt stash plus other stuff we can store on-site (for awhile)

Mardi Gras being kicked off around Louisiana... Tomorrow is the Krewe of Mutts... the theme this year is "Hurray for HOWLywood"... (Hollywood?)

We are going to bring Belle (it is a dog parade)....it will be my first time at this parade... I'll try to get some good pics to share.... NOT the usual type of Mardi Gras parade.. this a fundraiser for the local Animal Welfare...

We were told, from the lawyer...who really is nice and works for "save our home" type organization....that because we owe "less than half" the amount our house is worth...they want it to resell and make a huge profit. The mortgage company is in Kentucky....we are in NY...and that is causing issues itself. Mr. Lawyer said "they didn't go the normal steps, normally there is a lot of correspondence and phone calls before it gets to the letter we rec'd to relinquish our home back to them. They jumped right over that. SO, that is where we stand....and hopefully at appt. Tuesday...we will find out more.

my DH & I watched a movie this am, called "Loser" about a boy who's in college, and too trusting of his dorm-mates. They con him every time, and he falls for it. He meets a girl, and she's not interested in him (although she's his friend) simply because he's nice and she's conned into going out with her professor. The boy finally catches on to the dorm mates, and she catches on to the professor, so the boy & girl end up together - sweet, but the 1st part happens all too often......

Well, my DH said the boy reminded him of himself - always believing the best in everyone, but then gets hurt. It's sad, but I've had to help him take off his rosy-coloured glasses.... There are hard lessons when I've watched him get conned time and time again. We're paying a $600+ bill for someone else because they conned him into getting a cell phone plan with them, then they skipped on their part.........
Mary - this is why I'm skeptical and cynical. Don't get me wrong - I love people, I'm just cautious about money lenders (banks) and "too good to be true" schemes......

I'm sure Susan with all these upgrades you'll do well at the Open House..in all the shows I watch and magazines I read on decor (not that I follow any of them) lol the tan tones lighten things up, match more of everyone's taste!

Debbie, you would think you have a case with just the fact that they did not give you proper notice and follow N.Y. requirements. How overwhelming it must be for you to get through each day worrying about the income. Have you discussed it with the girls and Shane? Be a difficult thing to do...

Mary, your 'hubby' MIGHT be right but as the other say, not likely they can sell the soup if no turtle is in it...interesting, you'll have to check that out...perhaps they have a turtle farm just for stocking up restaurants but me thinks lol that your DH was trying to con you into eating some...will have to check facebook, rarely on it but will make a point of checking and playing scrabble

Now that I've had my 2nd cup of coffee, back to finish my bedroom...emptied all the drawers, already have 1 bag of garbage clothes, closet next and then sock brigade..can't blame anyone else for lost socks seeing I'm the only one who lives here...once the bedroom is done, my work for the day is finished and it will be on to playing.

Bitter cold outside but not snowing and blowing so that's a plus. Often on Sunday mornings around 7pm I head out to Walmart and Home Depot but there is nothing I need so why bother..

Betty I am usually up early as this is the time I can sew without little ones wanting something.
Never have done the egg hunt not really into being around all those people.Pushing and shoving.
What will you work on today?
I will send the fabric out on Tuesday as Monday is hoiday if that is ok.
Coffee is on and Homemade applesauce bread I put cherries in it today.

When we were at the Presidents house I think the boys most enjoyed seeing the secret service cars parked outside the gate, had pictures taken witht he agents..that made their day..It was only about 7:30 a.m. when we were there and very few others. We were lucky, one the the apartment buildings were offering parking, we were no more than 1/2 block away..everything on that trip turned out 100%, we drove everywhere and parked almost in front of the door where we wanted to visit..do you think it was because we were early/early birds???

What will I work on, well I'm on my 2nd bag of purging clothes, drawers are all well organized, closet looking as though I can get at least 3 more items in it..lol..purged last fall and through out bags/bags, here I am now purging after purging and still finding as much. Think when you do it 3 or 4 times you don't get upset over the amount you are getting rid of..

Once winter passes I'll do it again...gradually I'll get to where I want it...

As for crafting I'll get at it after I press about 10 pairs of slacks..got all the cut-outs for the 3rd. row to the christmas quilt, if I accomplish that today I'll be thrilled..

In my closet I found the bag mom sent me to put together all the squares for her, will do a few each night and get that out of here, then a bag filled with wood and squares already done in crochet, wouldn't take much more to finish an afghan so that's something I can do at work..everyone I know I've given an afghan so not sure what I will do with it but have to finish it..it's like material, seems you just finish one quilt and you've got boxes of remnants that you have to do another...afghans are endless!!!!

That should about finish my day..how about you, are you still working on the Christmas tree skirt project???

I thank you kindly for the piece of material, guess had I started 1 quilt I'd have had enough but doing 3 at a time, yikes, in no time my leftovers have been used up...I've scheduled going to Buffalo March 4th and likely coming back on the 5th, it will give me just enough time to visit Joann's so I'll figure out what I need for the other 9 strips (9 x 3=27) oh oh ....sure hope they have Christmas material left!

I know Laura, been ironing about 20 pairs of slacks, just touching them up, closet was so full that it was wrinkle city, as I do a pair I check this thread, running out of things to do while I wait....lol More than pleased with my morning cleaning project..was wondering why I was tired, gee whiz Louise, started after 5am and just finished, that's a long day, but lordy my close now looks like one of those magazine closets, everything sectioned off ..wonder how long it will stay clean..lol

Hello Everyone!

Well I'm sitting here waiting to go take a shower so I can go to work for a little bit. Tubby is in his recliner. He hasn't been eating much again and said he just doesn't want to. He said he's tired of it all. It just itsn't what a person wants to hear, but I'll keep trying. I'll bring home some KFC tonight and see if he won't eat that. It truly takes the joy out of eating and cooking. Oh well, one day at a time.

It's over cast and dreary out today. I talked to DD in Wisconsin this morning and they are getting snow and possibly freezing rain tonight. She said if it gets too much she'd go into work tonight and stay there as she can't afford not to work.

Betty the rocks are darling. You are one busy lady today. I need to do that kind of cleaning upstairs in the old part. I think that is down the road a ways. I look out at my flower beds and really want to get out there and do things. Patience I know.

Turtle soup would be interesting, I've had fried turtle and it's delicious. I just remember cleaning it, that was quite a chore.

Well, I'll make me a sandwich and finish sewing on the comforter and then it's time to get cleaned up.

Had forgotten just how easy and quick the microwave recipe was...it was lost in a book which held Roger's recipe's..he loved my bread pudding..

Usually just put raisins but the grocery store had a bag of 5 fruit so picked it up and added it to my mix..too funny, mom had called to get the recipe for Jim, I just called Jim and asked if he could smell it...NOW if I was a good girl I'd drive the 45 minutes to the cottage, he's got roast beef on and I could share the bread pudding...a thought! lol

We went to our cuz's last night to hang out and watch a movie, lol wished we didn't watch the one we did tho, way to graphic for my eyes, lol.

Well, we blabbed into the night, so ended up staying over. Went to this great little place for breakfast, i had a gyspy skillet, yummmy.

Camper is to be finished in April and then needs to be brought to Maryland.
We usually do not go out until May so is good timing.
Trying to work on another quilt. Trying to do dollhouses we shall see.
Goodnight to all having dinner then to bed. Yesterday did me in.

Ok,, dropping back by,, We got Mooches new dog run up,, well not new to us but new to him. I do not have a fenced in yard so my wonderful nieghbor said we could take the 10 by 10 x 6 kennel and turn it into a10 x 20 x 6 using one side of his fenced yard!! So now Mooch has room to roam with out getting lost or in my garden when I try to plant.
He tried to help so much yesterday,, I would plant a bulb and he would dig it up and bring it to me,, silly dog. We had to tie him up for the rest of the time I was out side and he HATED that. So did I.
Betty Misss DGD was not here today, But Gryphon was. We had to do a school project and it looked AWFUL. Thanksfully towards the end it got better and I am not going to be terrified to drop it by the school tomarrow. At one point I told him he was just going to have to get a failing grade cause I was to embarrassed by how awful it looked and it was not leaving my house,,l but some spray paint, rocks, stained glass and hard work and it looks much better. We had to design and build a house, then paint and landscape it!!! Gryphon " FORGOT" to tell anyone that it was due Monday so this was a last minute, please , please, please help me get it done thing. As he was leaving he says "are you goning to forgive me?" I told him Nope...lol And gave him a big hug.

So now I am WORN OUT!!

Home from work a little bit ago. Tubby is eating his KFC and I'm having a diet Pepsi. I finished my comforter so will start on the next one.
It was a nice time at work, I got to see some people I haven't worked with for awhile. I am a Unit Secretary on a Med/Surg floor at the hospital. I put the Dr.'s orders in the computer and take care of answering the phones and call lights if the techs and Nurses don't answer theirs. I orders supplies and charges on patient's accounts for Bladder Scans and other odds and ends. I really like what I do, but in May the Dr.'s are going to have to put their own orders in. I don't know what will happen to my postion then and will have to play it by ear. I also use to do patient care, but I haven't done that since knee and shoulder surgery. I probably could if I had to, but don't want to do it anymore. The old back and stuff aches by the time I'm done. Tubby keeps me busy enough with that sort of stuff. I always enjoyed working and being with the public.
Well, I better go and get things done before it's time for bed. Will chat with you all tomorrow. Good night and sweet dreams to all. God Bless everyone.

Bread Pudding looks yummy Betty! I never heard of Bread Pudding until I moved to Louisiana about 23 years ago.... It's more of a Louisiana specialty here... SEE you are part - Cajun.... Well - I suppose they moved here from there... I never heard of my last name (now) when I moved here... LeBlanc is VERY common here and you said there as well....

Shirley, favorite, Kentuckey Fried Chicken, I took out turkey I had frozen from last weekend, bought a box of scalloped potatoes, Cathy came to visit and chatted so didn't cook it...back and legs have been paining like heck to took a painkiller and dozed off about 7pm, now up to let the furries out and another painkiller and off to bed.
Shaking my head here Shirley, sure hope you don't have the worry of your position being dropped, what is your gut feeling, do you think it it will be axed? If it is do you get the opportunity of going back doing the job you had before surgery because of seniority. Did Tubby eat all his chicken, hope so, needs some strength.

Can hear Sailor at the door so best go let her in and call it a night.

Judy, not for a swap, I'm a little over ambitious, doing 3 quilts at a time..lol one for me, one for DIL Melanie and 1 for Jeff's girlfriend Julie..

I've not got January, February and am working on March, should be done March tomorrow, have embroidery to do for buttons, eyes, etc and applique..sure wish I had some of your little black beads for eyes but I'll embroidery floss and do them. I have to machine quilt each panel then once that's done they are put together and voila, all done..

Hope those kids didn't stay up all night worrying about you while Julie slept..lol..glad you got out, makes for a nice change...OMG tell Steve congratulations on getting another job in the Hancock building...wow before you know it he'll be up on the top floor doing Oprah Winfrey's pad (one can only hope)! Glad he'll have some work for you, give you a few $$$ for spending money.
