I was hoping you'd saved me a piece of cake to go with our chicken stir fry and rice.

Now that you have a wishing well, Susie, wonder if your brother would be game to measure the pieces and make as many as you want? He did such a great job on your greenhouse. Eons ago my dad used a mail order pattern and made my mom a wishing well, used little cedar shakes for the roof and hung a bucket for pretend water. Can't wait to see yours all dressed up with blooms this Summer.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

My brother likes to do bigger project remodling more then other things :)
already working how i want to decorate :) just hope it works .

well you all have a great evening I need to go lay back & Watch the dreaded NEWS .

Hi everyone, I am so sorry to hear about your sister Debra. Our prayers are with you all.

Well for the day after valentines I bought myself a blooming orchid from home depot. It was marked down but not sure why. One of my other orchids is sending up a shoot that will bloom. So excited.

Been really tired lately, not sure why. Think I need to be snowed in again.....

Work tommorrow. UGH

Debra the fact that you have morning glories growing and blooming inside makes me nuts. I think when I come back from my little getaway next week I am going to start some seeds and see what happens. nothing would make me happier than that!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Most of our snow is gone except on some slopes.
Have my Moms african violets and so far seem to be doing ok. A few are starting to bloom again.
I bought about 4 boot trays this week at home depot to use as big saucers for a lot of plants. Much sturdier than the plastic ones but of course all the plants have to sit together. Least they won't be lonely.....

Should be cleaning house, but I went into town today and hit all of our little junk stores and stuff, think we have 4. Saw some cute things and some really overpriced things... ;) I think most of those stores are fighting to stay alive during all this downturn stuff. Sometimes I find some really cute things for the swaps. If money were no object boy would I find some stuff....

Gonna see my DGD today for a little while. She is so cute.

Crit did I see you post on a different forum about roses? and lots of them? I love roses. I am trying and trying to get them going, do good for a couple of years and then that is it, expect for two I have, and they are both pink and do lovely. How, when, what, do you fetilize? Other than my 2 pink, my others just seem to get smaller instead of bigger.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

same here as for roses they do great the 1st 2 yrs then gone to rot for some reason . I do have 2 that are doing good .

My MG's Are up about 2-3 inch right now so i hope they make it , I have the sneezes & Sniffles this afternoon.
guess its from so many plants I have been planting . here are a few of them .

Susie, are those all hens and chicks? Very pretty!

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

deejay..... those are adorable!!!! Where do you get the little plastic planters? I need to get some of those. I have 2 of what you have. The big green one and the green one with red tips. Got the at our April Garden Club sale last year.

Yes, I was speaking of roses. The house we moved from, I had 32 rose bushes in our little back yard. Hubby made me 2 stair step rose gardens. I used the Bayer 3 in 1 fertilizer on them at the interval suggested. It helps with black spot and other diseases, fertilizes and I forget what the 3rd thing is. It is in a blue bottle and at Wal-Mart last year was $14.97. It took 2 bottles to do our roses. Then I used a soaker hose to water them. Water and dirt splashing up on the leaves can cause black spot too. I just have a few roses here now, but plan on adding a few more every year!!!! This is one of the ones I had.

I'm hoping the peeps I got mine from are at the April plant sale again. They had a bunch that I wanted, but was down to my last $3. I found them when I was heading back to my car. There was another one I wanted and a nice man offered to buy it for me, but I wouldn't let him.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Crit, gardeners are just the nicest people, I bet the guy offered cause he knows how he would of felt to have to leave a plant he wanted... ;)

OMG to leave all those roses would of been awful! But at least you know what works and doesn't. I use bayer on ee's, brugs, you name it, everything seems to love it. Wish I could use it indoors.

Went out to the garden room today and it was warm enough I got the hose and out and made the biggest mess. Couldn't find any attchments that would work, so I thought I will just kink it to stop the water, yeah right, why is it that the hose can kink in the yard and stop the flow completely but let me get it indoors and there is no stopping it! Geepers.... I put on my Queen of Garden crown that I think Cville made me, DH came out to check on me and I think he is calling the sike ward as I type..... so if you don't hear from me, someone come sign me out, non gardeners and DH's just don't get it.......

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

LOL Happ, I can just see that vison.. well done!
I had two hens and chicks outside that came inside, they both died. what happened?

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Me too...LOL Thanks, happ, for the mental picture. I can relate since I still don't have the right fittings for my 50' bungy hose and am still schlepping water. Guess I'll be using it outside before long.

If I'd known last year there would be a run on Hens & Chicks, I would have saved mine for ya'll. I gave mine to a neighbor and none of them were more than 2" diameter. It was amazing to see the monsters she grew, so many were larger than my hand. She even laid a bunch of them on huge rocks, no soil or anything and they thrived and multiplied like crazy. I swear she either has a knack for growing them or has her own microclimate. Most were named but she's not the type to make tags. They're her fav's but will see what I can do to beg a few back.
