should I do some more blocks and make the pansies other colors too like blues and pinks?
or I have a pattern to do pansies without the filigree patterns to it and just put the flowers in different colors then add the "plain" blocks in there too

Phyllis, that depends if your going for a certain color? Pansies come in all colors, so multi colored pansies would be pretty. I think I would stay with your blocks your doing, with a colored sash. Kinda makes it look like an old hankie quilt, and so pretty! How big is it going to be?

Phyllis, I tend to agree with LK that you would need sashing. My reason being, if there's no sashing between the blocks, the quilt might look too "busy" if there are only pansies, and since the pansies are of different design.
If you feel you need to add more blocks, maybe you could do just leaf or even filligree motifs (to give it a Victorian look) if not plain ones.
I'm biased towards lavender and purple too!

Phyllis!!!!! So glad to see you!! Oh how I love purple pansies, purple and blue pansies were my flower of choice for my wedding!

I cleaned up the flowerbed in front of the house yesterday, rode our 4-wheeler for a little while (that thing is fun!) and celebrated Valentine's Day with Dave last night. We boycotted Applebee's in Benton, AR about a year ago because of poor service and crappy food. My mom and step-dad sent us a $50.00 Applebee's gift card for Christmas so instead of driving all the way to Hot Springs we decided we would use that and endure the Benton Applebee's one last time. Turns out they have a new manager who has completely turned the restaurant around and we had the best Applebee's experience we have ever had, and plan on going back! I'm going to email whoever I need to email at corporate and give that manager a thumbs up! We talked to him for a minute, he's young and has no problem helping out with whatever needs to be done, he was busing tables, helping waitresses carry food out, helping take orders, you name it! Then we came home and opened our cards and chocolates and long stem strawberries MMMMMMM

Good Morning Ladies,
As you can see i had my surgery a week ago today. Boy let me tell you it hurt worse thana any other sugery I've had. They cut my thumb area open, took out the bone, scraped the srthritis off then put it back in, cut a tendon made a pad and put it where they scraped the bone. Mon, Tues, Wed & Thurs I was in la la land. Had to take really strong pain pills every 3 -4 hours. Friday the pain started easing off. Come Sat morn when I woke up no pain so I decided to stay off pills see how the pain was going to be. Did really good until last night I over did and had some pain. Will be going to doc Wed. to see how everything is going. Doug has been a very good nurse . We went for a short walk yesterday, but it was enough for me. Dang can't believe how weak i was.

Doug can not have the surgery done on his neck. Too risky. Doc told him it was a good thing he had full body MRI done and that he saw the films before he did it. So he is going to have a cortizone shot that should last 6 months.

We are going to Chili's for dinner tonight. My Valentine present is a new bed. It's one of those posterpedic beds. The memory foam thingies. ((((((((SIGH)))))) Heaven ^_^

Jaye, sorry your viking gave up on you! Hope it will be an easy fix!

Cindy, get well soon! Sounds like your on the mend. Sorry to hear Doug can't have surgery, but glad to hear they checked his MRI before hand!

LK, thanks for bringing Cindy's post over. You're just so sweet!!!

Did get hold of Marion tonight.
She won't be home till March. So far, the nodules have form a mass, and her mum refused to allow a biopsy. She's on morphine to lessen the pain, and besides the back/spine issues.. she has neuropathy real bad.
Marion said at times, she can hear the rattling in her breathing.. which is also shallow. Of course, she's still coughing.
The remarkable thing is, her appetite has improved leaps and bounds. So far, she had made her daughters picked up KFC chicken.. 3 X in a week! She's getting take out from Steak and Shake too! Makes Marion wonder what she'd order next, or would want her to cook!!

Apart from the physical decline, her skin is no longer of a pale pallor. The color has return, it must be from all the good food and the amount she's eating. She's supposed to eat pulverised food, as the doctor thinks her swallowing's impaired, but Marion said somehow she managed to gulp down those fried chickens!!
Marion says it's different from one day to the next for her mum. Today it was a good day, but not yesterday.

Cookie, Marion wonders about you and I told her that your brother came to town for a few days and the visit went very well.
She said that unlike your mum, her mum never discussed any future 'arrangements' nor any business that needed taken care of. She thought her mum might still be in denial, but I told her that maybe she'd just want to live for the day, and not even think of tomorrow.

Hope I remember all that she's told me...
oh yeah.. Marion and her family appreciate all the kind thoughts and prayers.. of course I told her that we all love her and we do worry about her.

Kel says it's time I go to bed. Wow.. still not sleepy yet!!!!
Think I better take an Ambien!!

Happy Valentines day girls I know better late then never but 4 am I just cant get on here and be ready for work too LOL

I"m sitting here right now and I should be in bed but I am looking at Ebay and pansy material
I plan on using other blocks in between the ones I made other wise I'll never get it to queen size LOL
I just don't know if I should do pattern material or take plain and do embroidery on the plain squares.
I did try to figure out just how many more squares I need by placing the ones I have out and spacing them with the 6 inch space between them and if I use other fabric the I can get it to 110 x 110 but did I remember to count how many in between ...no LOL

*ugh* my brain hurts from researching using ads on the side of buses to help bring in revenue for the district when we get hit with the 20% budget cut next year to finding info on using vans versus buses for extra trips to saving info form a co workers computer that got released to day and needing to get to the training info on there now that they have blocked abscess to her desktop

Help please girls I don't know what to pick for the other fabric to use and how much I need to get to finish the front and do the back

I'm thinking for the quilting part I will do a in the ditch stitch around the squares I have the pansies in then do a pattern on the rest ????

Phyllis, all I can say is get enough fabric!! I'd suggest printed pansy fabrics for your 'fillers', but if you have the time to embroider more, than they will be great too, as long as you use sashings.
Stitch-in-the-ditch is guaranteed not to cause mistakes.
Sorry about the cutbacks. Think all schools are experiencing that.

Breakfast isn't so yummy for some of you. Oatmeal with dates and raisins and a glass of hot tea.
