Today is my Mom's 96th birthday....even though the whole family is celebrating at a restaurant tomorrow, I'm going over to her house today....made some soup, but will pick up a pizza for a treat for her......also bought her a practical gift....a new toaster since her other one went....she doesn't know how long she will be living alone, but if she moves in with me, I'll have a new toaster!
Coffee Break #53 Endless Winter
Happy Birthday to your Mom Robin!! LOL on the new toaster comment!
Yay for new toasters. Happy Birthday, RD's mom BIG HUGS
Age 96 ???!!!
What a magnificent trooper !!!!
Sending positive vibrations and thoughts in her direction.!!!
I bet she has stories to tell about what she's seen in her life.
maybe you should get her something else you need too :)
happy b-day to your mom!
Wow - Happy Birthday to her!!
Happy b-day to your mom!!!
Happy Birthday and congratulations to your Mom, RD.
Wishing your mom a very happy birthday, Marilyn.
Thanks so much for the good wishes, folks....I will pass them on to Mom....she was happy about the toaster, but thrilled with the pizza.....it's a real treat for her, as she has high sugar & stays away from white flour....however, the crust was very thin, & she deserved it!
At her age she deserves a pizza now and then.
Yes, she does!
So great to be in good health at that age! My wife tells me of quite a few patients like that - mostly all women.
Happy birthday robin mom!
We have a "corn lady", it's what she calls herself because she has a farm stand in front of her house. Anyway, she is in her 90's, still mows her own lawn. She used to grow the food she sells, now another farmer brings it to her to sell. She sits out at the stand almost all day in the summer.
Cool!
We had a friend, Adele, who just died in January (no sympathy notes needed) after a wonderful life and a wonderful marriage just short of 71 years. She and her Arthur were quite the fun couple. He's now 97 and still goes to the post office daily and cooks and cleans for himself. Her death was expected and Arthur has handled it very well.
And every once in awhile she has her fields plowed, and lets me gather the upturned rocks.
My Mom will be 91 this summer and except for the macular degeneration that has left her nearly blind she is doing great. I do hope that when her time comes she will go peacefully into the night. In the mean time, Party on Mom...lol
Too many poignant thoughts to type, because I would be typing an entire book for all my thoughts on the past several posts.
As we get older, we learn to recognize the soul-full values that make our lives richer and more meaningful, and these true life accounts of people who are 50+ years of age serve as inspiration for "us" middle-agers who will experience similiar challenges.
Looking into the future takes Bravery.
(And chocolate.)
Dang BA, 50+ is NOT 90+ :) but chocolate is always good
Um...im in the 50+ range now.....be careful!
50 is the new 90???
In husband years, I am older than everyone here!!
I'm chronologically over 50, but I might be an "armchair" juvenile delinquent...
It's like a Monday-morning quarterback; we claim insight without any risk, eating carbohydrates in front of the TV.
In never been a wife years, I'm older than the world
I'll be celebrating my 50th this year, and I appreciate every birthday I get!!
Let me know how bad it is, Deb!!
it'll be good!!!
I still have two years!
I thought I only had a year on you.
I got younger after the knee surgery. ^_^
Foolish kids, I'll be 76 in March. My book that I wanted came from England so told DH to put it away until then.
Don't open until 76?? ^_^
debi that is what i call a friend!
50 is not bad - although my wife who just had hers did have a moment or too thinking about it - more thinking if she is 50 her mom is that much older - kind of like my father who went into depression when i turned 50.
If my Mom was still alive she'd be 91 right now :)
My oldest brother will be 69 this year!
thought you'd like that Bill!
irisMA---
It's none of my business, but I'm intrigued by what kind of book you would order from England.
I'll be 50 this year too.
My grandma, Mom's mother, was 100 when she died, but senile the last ten years.....very hard to deal with that....just happy Mom is fairly with it, though deaf.....my brother's MIL is 104, still in her full faculties, still has quality of life in her own home, although she has a fulltime caretaker as she is in a wheelchair......
Wow - seems many of us are +/- a few years of 50.
