East Bridgewater, MA

So is the human immunity system.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

chocolate!

Thomaston, CT

Any kind of flower, but ones with scent would be lovely.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

flowers are good too.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

BA - yes it is, but would take well over a week, not two days.

So far, the traditional gifts are popular!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

This year I would like a new set of dishes

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

and here we go again.....

she was 91, lived at an extended care facility in FL( my dad's sis)....my uncle in TX is the only one left of those siblings

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sorry, Jen.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Oh, Jen, sorry for your loss. It's never easy. ((HUGS))

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

sorry jen - 91 is a pretty good run though

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Sorry to hear that Jen my sympathies (((♥)))

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Thanks everyone!
She was the only rich relative we had.
They'll be burying her up here in NJ in March, that's where her husband is buried.

That coach story is amazing...all those tests they run to find a match and it's someone close to him.

Thomaston, CT

I'm sorry, Jen...it's never easy....

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Thanks for all your "welcome back"s!!!!! You guys are the greatest. My secret santa has yet to show himself. I hope to get a real job one of these days! I'm a little embarrassed.

Allison, that house looked horrible! Hope everyone got out okay.

Jen, you have my sympathy for you aunt.

Victor, chocolate and something else I can't mention...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Harp, I've been told that one can combine the two....^_^

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

so sorry to hear that Jen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sad local story. Woman hiker and her dog fell off a cliff and died on Sunday. Found last night.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes, it was on radio last night and again this morning. She was an experienced hiker and they seem to think she may have died trying to save her dog who was too close to the edge of a cliff and they both fell to their death. Very sad.

Thomaston, CT

OMG....how horrible! It's just so icy out there......

East Bridgewater, MA

With the current weather conditions, we should all err on the side of caution, even those individuals who have a high skill level.

Just 1/8 inch of invisible "black ice" can take a life.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yeah, I cannot imagine going hiking in a dangerous area in this weather - even if you are experienced. Experience doesn't make the ice less slippery.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Something happened to take her off her normal route, what that 'something' was no one will ever know.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The dog.

Thomaston, CT

Probably.....dogs don't like to walk on ice, though...at least mine never did, especially the wolfie who had more sense than most people.....

South Hamilton, MA

Welcome back, Harper.

Jen sorry for your loss. It is too bad they were so far apart. We are not 91, but my 84 yr old brother is in NM.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Thanks Iris

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

So this hits really close to home and struck a nerve in me that left me shaking. My son Justin has Lennox-Gastaut syndrome a rare form of epilepsey just like this boy. Justin used to have to wear a padded helmet with face guard for the same reason, and Justin has the V.N.S. device in his chest also. I can't believe this school!

Thomaston, CT

This is what happens when common sense flees......which it has in so many ways in the public schools....I think this is against the law, that service dogs are to be permitted everywhere......

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ya I'm pretty sure that it's against the law to force someone to do without their service dog.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I thought so too......

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It should be against the law to deprive the boy of his helper.

How insensitive of the school, the school board and all the powers that be. When a trained dog can do for the boy that which no teacher in the school can do, there is absolutely no doubt but that the dog should be allowed.

We could all bet that if it were the Principal's son who was so afflicted the dog would be welcome and viewed as a learning experience for all.

Shame on them! Give them an F for Failure!

East Bridgewater, MA

One sharp attorney could make them more sensitive to special needs.

South Hamilton, MA

When my brother was in high schol in the 1940's one girl had a seeing eye dog. All the students were trained to leave the dog alone so it could work. No problems. We have downgraded our education which also affects administrators.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

You're right BA! A lawyer with a guide dog would be a win-win situation.

It is true that seeing eye guide dogs shouldn't be spoken to by others. I learned it at 17 and never forgot it. Thanks for the reminder.

East Bridgewater, MA

Yep, the population has to learn that a service dog is "on the job" for the owner, and give the pair the proper space to function efficiently.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

just terrible... what is wrong with our world???

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

The judge in his infinite wisdom has made his decision.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)
