Pork chops in a tomato sauce served over white rice, with a small salad on the side.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Took a homemade eggplant roulade that I stuffed with ground buffalo, mozzarella cheese and basil and peppers with our tomato sauce. it was even better than it was in late Aug. and no work. It made me happy to still be feasting on the garden. Served with DH loaf of bread and salad followed by ice cream and girl scout cookies as tis the season. Patti

Eggplant is underrated, it's extremely versatile.

I'm not eating at Bill's :(.......unless there's more of those hot dogs from the RU!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Not a big fan of the canned green beans either, unless he has some good brew to wash it down with. Patti

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

always patti! and that is why i do the bean deal two days a week now.

just made a nice bitters and a red ale the other night

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Wha, Now that is what I wanted to hear. Eating canned bean to make beer and buy Japanese Maples is a real sacrifice. We didn't do very well green bean wise last summer, too hot? Especially the pole beans.

We are going out to dinner tonight with friends if they get here from NYC, but it may just be to get a pizza or a burger, though both places that they are likely to want to go for those are on the fancy side, but I think they are treating. Patti

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

friday is home made pizza night - still have some beer left from the last brewing - a british ale, german marzen, and two different bitters. was dissapointed in the marzen not enough malt.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

Yesterday was pizza and wings my wife and I picked up on our way home from visiting my dad in the nursing home.

Today is a chicken and brown rice casserole with onions and garlic that is now in the oven and smelling very good.

I want to eat at Jan23's house, but drink at Wha's. Going to have a decent wood fired pizza, but at a restaurant. I will probably share one of their Rustica that has Arugula, Stracchino Cheese, Pancetta, Garlic with red sauce on thin crust. Patti

No plans yet, I am going to go to the food coop over in Brattleboro and see what appeals to me after I have brunch out with some of Vt pals in a little bit today. Lot of snow up here.

We picked up take out Pho at a Vietnamese joint in Brookline Village yesterday before driving up here. They pack everything separately, and include a half a fresh lime and lots of Thai fresh basil and a ton of bean sprouts, plus all the rare beef, meatballs and brisket, fresh cilantro, and onions and noodles You just have to reheat the broth and then add all the goodies for a minute and as much hot sauce and the hoisin sauce as you want. One order makes a huge bowl which is more than the two of us can ever eat. Pretty tasty, plus I sure didn't want to cook at 9:30 when we finally arrived.

We had some GS thin mint cookies for desert. They have changed the recipe.....what's up with the little holes on the top of them and they seem fatter, but smaller. Not the same........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I once won a price for selling the most GS cookies in the state of OK. Only thing was that I made my cute little brother go with me as my pitch man, age 7 to do all the selling. No one could say no to him, still can't. He is a charmer. Patti

The Pho sounded wonderful, Patti! Just what I would like....I had pork scallopini with wild mushrooms at the restaurant where we went to celebrate Mom's birthday...today, I'm going out to eat again!!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Robindog, Glad you are up and out, after your illness.

Wild mushrooms are the best-est ! I bought some Porchinni infussed Olive Oil from this cool little shop up in the Finger Lakes area of New York which has been great to use for a mushroom lover like me. I just ordered more of her products to add to the others that I bought in October. I have loved her EVOO Meyer lemon, and one called Tunisian Harissa
(chef son puts that one on popcorn with fleu de sel and swears it is amazing), plus I bought some of her Balsamic vinegars like Aromatic Oregano balsamic(great drizzled on pizza), Honeyed Ginger (great on anything). I am trying the EVOO Blood Orange and another called Cilantro with Golden Roasted Onion along with Mediterranean Cassis balsamic. Can't wait for them to arrive, as they all should add some zing to our kitchen efforts.

I'm planning to make butterfly pasta (farfalle) with Alfredo sauce, onions and peas. I'll make some type of meat to go along. Our 19 year old son strongly dislikes pasta so maybe I'll make hamburgers and he can have his on a bun.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Spaghetti, garlic bread and a caesar salad.

Thomaston, CT

Thanks, Patti, for the link....I love those products!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

bean chile and corn bread tonight

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I am now cooking Tuscan kale tossed with crispy bacon and shallots with lemon dressing served warm. A local Vt ravioli with roasted peppers and smoked mozzarella but with our homemade red sauce and parm. Salad. French bread. Oranges and cookies for dessert.

Chili would have been good, but not enough time to make it tonight. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yum!!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

pork chops, teriaki noodles and corn,

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Victor, thanks, This Kale is now on the winter easy favorite list. I am going to do a repeat soon, but stir it into a lemon risotto at the last minute with some blue cheese as a main course. I used the very narrow Tuscan dark leave kind or Black Kale , which I have never tried before and I now think I much prefer it over the old large leaf curly one. I am going to try to grow it for sure this year as well as the regular type for our, must have, Portugese Kale soup. I suspect the Tuscan will be ready sooner and I can snip it as needed. I hope I can find seeds, but after goggling it just now, I suspect, much to my embarrassment, is all over the place and has been for a long time. I just never noticed it before at the market. Duh moment. Patti

Thomaston, CT

Don't think I've ever noticed it, either.....I usually buy the big blue-leafed kind. Tonight, pork roast, sauerkraut, potatoes & carrots.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Going out to an early dinner at the Irish Pub

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I floured then braised a couple bone in for flavor and then cooked them in the over lemon rice. I have made a portabella mushroom, and heavy cream (McNamara Dairy) & onion sauce to serve over it. I used lots of nutmeg and slightly sweet white wine that we had left over, and I think I like it. I will be serving it all with spring Chinese pea pods, scallions and hearts of romaine with a Maytag blue cheese dressing. It is a night of fat. Bad, but yummy. Oh we are having appetizers of smoked duck Prosciutto and some Foie gras that the son sent us. No dessert. I might be dead by then.

Tomorrow it will be left overs. Patti

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

So we didn't get to go to the Irish pub kids didn't want to go there so we went to Longhorn's and then to the 50's type cafe for milkshakes.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice.
