Love is in the air....for food!!!!

Thomaston, CT

Yay for you, Jan! The strawberry sundae I had yesterday probably isn't helping my weight loss! Went to a small store in the next town where they make their own pasta, sauces, & about a dozen different types of ravioli.....I bought porcini- goat cheese with brown butter -sage sauce......

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Oh, that sounds wonderful. Strawberry sundaes are just what the doctor ordered. :) I am just trying to adjust my eating to healthy with some treats thrown in for good measure. We already were eating healthy - it was just all the 'extras' I added to my own plan plus the fact that I have been housebound pretty much for 3 years. (at least that was the justification to myself to okay being a couch potato) Now, I can be out and about at will.

I think an omelet and salad are on the menu for tonight plus some more leftovers for Jeff.

Good for you Jan

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

ROBINDOG, I want to shop at that store. Sounds yummy.

Jan23, glad you are rallying...3 years is way to long to be housebound. I have suffered with long periods, but not 3 years. I would be totally nuts, instead of just half.

DH just made up a big batch of his Shepard's pie with left over roasted led of lamb. I added sour cream to the mash potato topping along with grated parmigiana. He made the gravy out of veal stock. He sauteed up onions, grated carrots and celery to add to the lamb. It is always good, no matter what meat he uses or what exactly he uses in it. We will have a green salad with it and that is it. Good meal for a chilly night. Patti

Yes, it is! I made chicken, escarole, white bean soup, with a crusty whole grain bread and a salad.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Not too shabby. I need to dig out a bag of white beads and do the same. Perfect March food. Thanks. Patti

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

Glad the soup worked, Jumper! That's my dinner tonight.....

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Bought an order of oysters on the ½ shell, freshly shucked and served on ice with cocktail sauce and lemon slices. (they pack them in one of those aluminum containers with the transparent top all nice and pretty for you to eat)
- Also bought a large porgy for me and some super jumbo shrimp for DW to make some batter fried shrimp for her since she's not a fish lover, (nobody's perfect.. lol!). Going to serve it all up with french fries tonight.

... I'm getting hungry as I type. lol!!

Thomaston, CT

You're lucky to live so close to fresh seafood outlets, but I'm with your wife....clam chowder is about the only fish I eat....oh, & tuna salad!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Funny, tuna salad is the only fish she'll eat, I only eat tuna in sushi, otherwise it's too fishy for me! lol!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

WaterCan2, and your address is??????????? I want to fly into your house tonight. Though DH is making homemade pizza which I love too. Patti

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Jacques Cousteau called clams and oysters the garbage collectors of the sea. Bon appetit!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

that's why I don't eat tilapia anymore

East Bridgewater, MA

Yep, oysters and clams are"filter feeders"; it's like eating beef liver, you might be getting some grundgy stuff...

But I have never, never, never, turned down a fried clam !!! I don't care if it's giving off a nuclear waste glow !!!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Love beef liver, chicken liver too!
