Best/Worse/What did I learn today-visit with friends chat

The sheets you use for applique are made of Teflon and they are wonderful. You fold the Teflon sheet in half and put the pieces you are fusing in between the fold and then iron... If any adhesive gets on the teflon, you let it cool and it peels right off. I wouldn't be without one....

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

where did you get yours Barb????

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, not sure but if I were to get a little more organized there might be a teflon sheet somewhere..

Only thing I did different than the pattern was reverse the direction of the Santa..when I look at the rest he seemed to be going against the grain so mine will be different than the rest...

Still no iron so I'll just heat tack it and then put something over it to put heat to..not sure I'll do the machine applique and free hand quilting today though.

Went to the grocery store and church was getting out just as I passed it, thought oh/oh will miss Ann..well she just called, said there was something she needed could she come over and see if I had it, well, caught on very quickly asked about their trip to the city..not bad was her reply so I asked if Mike was ill and she said 'oh yes - I'll come and look through your books in a bit' so know that means she wants a shoulder to cry on.

HI...my brains fried!! LOL, been working on the whack and stack...

Yesterday I started with a pretty simple piece, or so I thought...I thought it best to start out kind of small.

Here is a strip of material I used and a finish square...

I like block better as a diamond shape. didn't take a pic of that angle tho.

Decided to try different patterns.

Thunder i think you would like to play with this type of piecing.

Here I was matching the stack...I find it a bit time consuming, but that could be because I'm just learning.

Rumage through my templates and found a simple pinwheel to try with.

I think it came out pretty well...For my next trick, I am trying the Keleidoscope, LOL, so far not having much success.
Doing something wrong but can't figure out what!

Hey JUDY!! Good to see you again - been a looooooong time, girl!

Betty - went to church, then WM to do some shopping (making a Red Velvet cake next Sunday for work's Valentine's Day celebration), then home to work on my gorilla for the Stuffed Toy gathering we're doing for a worthy cause (don't know what the cause is, until someone "wins" the whole lot of the stuffies, then it's for Their cause of choice). Right now I'm working on the head, and will work downwards on the body, etc. I'll post a pic of it, if you remember to remind me LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Evening, Ann was here, not only did she need a hugs but sure needs prayers as well...then a visit from the kids whojust left, and I see it's already bed time...weekend over.

Starting to snow here as well, hope is just a light skim as all the walkways have been done...seems you just get cleaned up and it has to be done again.

Judy, you certainly have the quilting bug, you've done extremely well with those blocks and not keleidescope??? sounds a bit intimidating...lol

Susan, looking forward to seeing your project as well...hope you win and get to pick who will get them..

Well everyone, if you enjoy football is your favorite team winning or won???

Yawning, think I talked too much and listened much..

Calling it a day,

Goodness, I go fishing for the day, and everyone is busy! Shirley, sending you lots of ((((((((HUGS))))))))), and lots of prayers for Anne, and Mike!

Dad and I went catfishing today, with my youngest son and family! Had a great time!
Catfish anyone? We caught 25 pounds of catfish, and had some for dinner!

LK....YUM

Judy, I love the pinwheel, love those fabrics, I think trying to line up the fabrics, for the stack, would be a time consuming thing, even if you did it a million times.....

Betty, your Santa looks great!!! How many of these quilts are you making??? are you quilting each row, before you put the whole top together??? row by row, quilt as you go??

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, coffee is on and 2 left over donuts from Saturday!!!!! Can't waste food now can we?

OMG LindaKay look at those catfish..not a fish eating person but imagine you all had a feast..had a little river just down the street from my home on the lake and they caught catfish galore..kids would catch and bring them home...

Now I see everyone is in summer like clothing so yesterday must have been sunshine day for you..now tell us who is in the photo??? You enjoy fishing LindaKay? you should be here ice fishing..Cathy called me last night and said she was feeling a bit better yesterday afternoon, went to the hut and caught a 10 lb. pike.

Thunder, yes the width wide panels are done in quilt as you go and I'm doing a total of 3..the 2 others have all the pieces cut out and waiting for
suitable sky backing, will go at lunch to the fabric store across the street from work and hopefully they'll have something..sure wish Craighurst Quilt shop stayed open until 5:30pm..I don't get into her area until 5:15pm or I could have them done by the weekend and on to the next panel..although they are doing a panel a month I'd like to move forward because once gardening comes my sewing machine gets put awaytill fall...doing all the cut outs for the pieces is the time consuming part but that's something I can do at work..

Leaving early this morning, have something to mail off and something to pick up at Walmart so I'm off and running!

Debbie/Shirley & Tubby/Bev & Scotty..thinking of you and sending warm hugs..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, that is my youngest son Andy, all 6 foot 6 of him! It was 70 here yesterday! it was a beautiful day for fishing.
Jusy love the squares your putting together!
Betty, what size will your be when finished? Is it a wall ahnging? That will be so nice when done, but looks like a lot ofpieces to cut out for the appliques!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Great job Judy. I love how you are getting brave and trying new patterns.
LK do you eat all those fish??? You are always on with us here early in the morning. What time is it there now? It's 9: 20am here......
Thank you for the coffee Betty but I had DD this morning so no Tim Horton donut for me...
We have Sean this morning as it is a late start day at school. Mom has to be there but he doesn't go until 10am sowe will take him in. He is so into a computer game. I can't believe his focus sometimes...
Off to get a few blocks cut for this mystery quilt. Got to get it done as best friend was here for dinner yesterday and is requesting a quilt. I've made some before for her to give as gifts but this time she wants one for herself...So it's off to plan for that too....
~~~~~to everyone. Hope your day is all you need it to be..
Morning All!
Well, the sun is coming out and should be a nice day. It's not suppose to get very warm, but that's okay if the sun is shining. I'm gonna go do the last load of clothes and then I'll vacum downstairs so I can set the ironing board up. I need to press the curtains. I have to pick up some screws so I can put the rods back up. I have plenty to keep me busy today while Tubby is at dialysis.
The GD went up to my Mom's yesterday with my sis. Mom has a Dr.'s appt. today. They will come back tomorrow. I told my Mom to come along and that way she would be here for when my DD & GD from Wis. will be here this next weekend to visit and pick up the oldest GD. I hope I can convince her to go to Florida and move her stuff back and come and move in with us. I'll keep working on it. She still had pain and they will do another pain shot or else have a Hyster. Oh well, one day at a time.
All your quilts look so nice and those catfish look great, but I had so many growing up I really don't care for them or bullheads.
Everyone have a great day and God Bless. Will check later to see what is going on.
Good Morning, good morning...
Thank you on my blocks, they were fun to do...It's really nice to do something fun.
Betty, Sure enjoy seeing what your working on. I'm with you, going to work on some sewing, helps pass the time and I need to finish up projects...Put them off way too long, before you know it will be gardening time..OMG, I can't wait, can't wait to get outside, lots and lots to do!
Oh Crissy, I read your post and yikes, seems we are living the same life! LOL.
I hope the 4 wheeler turns out to be a fun GOOD thing. OH I like the idea of it being a drive around cart!
Steve has gone to a "get rich" seminar! Has to do with buying and selling property...My gosh, he works on everything but this house, drives me bonkers, but well somehow keeping up with the bills, so I just have to deal with it. He keeps looking for a snow mobile, just shake my head...No more toys!
Did you go to work today???
OH Linda Kay!! Great catch...Oh my gosh 70, I am sooo jealous. How grand you all had a great time.
Hiya Sue, good to see you too...Oh yes please would love to see what your working on!
Barb, can't wait to hear about your new quilt. How big does your friend want? Steve has this friend at the JHC. I made her a key a couple of years ago, Just bout a new bed and questioned him about my making her a Blanket!! So, we will see if i get hired for that! If she does, then i am thinking it will need to be the quilt as you go...
Mary, Hope you have a good week! Oh yes, you found the same book. Would you like to red it, i can send it off to you.
There is another great book, I will have to read again. It's called Like Normal People, I'll have to go look in my library for it...
Waiving Hi Bev, how are you doing? Loved your pictures, Haha, just realized your Bunny Trail sign is used for measuring??
Ok, I better get moving, have a list a mile long, already got somethings going...Today, I really need to get at these floors!
Enjoy the day, see you at a break.
Hope your found the material you need Betty.
Holy cow on both accounts LindaKay, my Gregis 6'2" and I thought that's tall, of course being a smidge under 5' it is tall but 6'6" now that's tall; and 70 degrees, perfect weather, guess now that there is no humidity like later in the season you stay outside as much as you can...is that your grandchild in the background? any photo's of him ??
The quilt is 52" wide I believe, don't have exact measurement with me but will check tonight and post..yes, lots of little pieces but it's like playing cutouts and I can do much at work once I organize my materials..today have 34 snowflaskes to cut out for the other 2, all other pieces are in baggies waiting to become works of art.
Barb, don't think LindaKay sleeps.often on late and up before dawn..maybe she sleeps for the rest of the day..lol
Barb, aren't you just amazed at that the grandchildren at their age are able to do..I sit & watch mine, so much smarter than I even at their tender age. How wonderful to get to sell your quilts..does she get to pick the pattern and colors or does she let you do it?
Judy, tell Steve for me there is NO get rich quick scheme that you aren't taking a bigger chance of losing all...and what do you say about the snowmobile..Roger and I had a new one every 2nd year and now my boys do the same so don't have to worry about upkeep but if you purchase one that has been hard driven then mega $$$$ needed almost every ride. The Snowmobile Dealership usually has the one Greg is trading in sold before he even brings it to their shop..After each use it's up on a metal bed, cleaned/buffed and everything checked..omg drives everyone crazy even his truck/boat etc. but that's good when trade-in time comes..I'm with you, just waiting for spring..wasn't very spring like this morning, snowed all the way in, stopped now, maybe it was Dianne who blew her snow my way..you can stop anytime Dianne...lol
OMG/OMG forgot to tell you something..
When Ann was in yesterday she asked if I had read the entire local paper, Crissy, remember the King's Wharf I took you to on Georgian Bay, think you bought a trinket there, well the Theatre has an add in the paper looking for rooms for all of the actors/actresses so Ann gave me the number, thought I might want to rent a room out...
IMAGINE THAT!!!
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Trying one more time
Barb we are one hour behind you!
We ate some of the fish, Andy took some home, and we have some in the freezer. In baggies full of water.
Betty, that is my Grandson Rory, he caught his very first fish yesterday, and was proud!
Hello all - got sent home sick from work, so guess I'm gonna Vicks myself up, put on a t-shirt, turn on the mattress warmer and rest.............
It's either a viral thing, or the beginning of bronchitis....... I do anything and I'm wiped out!
Good thing my boss caught it early and sent me home. She's tired of it going around the office, too!!
