Best/Worse/What did I learn today-visit with friends chat

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Dianne if they have the woodstove going it may melt the snow from the "inside out" so to speak and it can get really heavy without you realizing it. I've come to have a lot of respect for nature in my old age. When I was younger I would have tackled it all but not now!! Heehee.
Yes Betty the shoveler was really cute. And I love his name - Zachary. And that red hair!!! Let me tell you, he had one heck of a work ethic. He didn't stop from the time he arrived until he was finished. He also would not accept anything to eat or drink even though it was lunch time...And the best part was this. He only asked for $60 for all he did and the going rate around here is $150+ per roof. We gave him $100 and told him how grateful we were and then sent an email off to the person who had recommended him telling them what a great job he had done.

Lyndonville, NY

Barb looking at young Zachary, he is a very sweet young man....but what is it with the "kids" out there working so hard in the cold, and not even any gloves on! Oh, can't stand my hands to be cold....I can go barefoot in the snow...but not cold hands. lol So glad you got the right help.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I swear they don't feel the cold at all. Brandon works with the horses with no gloves most of the time and I don't knowhow he does it. He is all excited because they have a newbie in the barn. A miniature donkey!!! She is adorable...

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Barb, would love to see pictures of the Mini donkey if you can!! That has to be so adorable.

My son goes out and off to school, walking, with just a sweatshirt on, but usually has a hat on...once in awhile a scarf. But so darn stubborn. I had it out with Shannon & Mike doing the same thing when out driving. I finally got them convinced to at least take the coat and put it in the back seat....heaven forbid they get stuck somewhere or a very bad storm hits.

Lexington Park, MD

Been gone for a few hours and so much going on.
Betty when you sat click floor are they laminated or hardwood?
Barb very helpful young man. All that snow up there would have bothered me for sure.Mini donkey pictures if you can.
Hello to all running ou the door chili and bingo at the kids school.

May I introduce Nightengale - the miniature donkey....

Thank you so much for posting a picture....big smile here!

Evening all, was falling asleep on the chesterfield so thought I'm come downstairs and chat for a second, might wake me up and give me my 2nd wind..Friday nights are always set aside for early sleep, remember days of old when you'd come home on a Friday night and want to go party'ing...can tell I've aged!

Bev, that photo, were the trees starting to bud, can see some pink?? I'm squinting as well so time for glasses as well..you know you can't see when you keep enlarging the font..lol..has the bad weather passed you by?

Debbie see where our Prime Minister and your President met today to discuss several issues one being the border??? oooh maybe they'll make it easier for Canadians to cross to your side and you to our side..wouldn't that be fantastic. Yes, guess it's a lot of work to change a trannie and not know if it's in good shape..you've a bit were you can't get out on your own, re driving so perhaps by spring you'll have wheels! I'm with Dianne, good choice staying at home, bad leg beat saying you've a headache..lol

Barb, those kids who are now working without gloves in the cold will have arthritis before they are 40 if they don't take better care of themselves...I rarely use gloves as well but then I'm not outside for any length of time.

First thing tomorrow morning I'll go check the bad shed, did have a path but since Wednesday's storm I'm sure I'll have to battle 2 or 3' of snow to get there and when you are only 5' oh/oh where's Betty?

Laura, sorry, yes I meant laminant..think I'll take off new back shed and change to 'new flooring' just don't like the laminant, never looks clean to me..do the kids play for $$$ or for prizes...guess $$ would be gambling and illegal..we had kids bingo and they got to chose from a table..was fun watching them, have fun!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahhh, too adorable Barb..makes you want to run out and live on a farm..on our farm we had goats and chickens, always wanted horses though...had the odd bear/deer and moose around which was always nice to see.

Did make it to the Quilt shop, got to tell you I'll be looking for material in my stash or wait till I go to Joann's..some of the yardage was $18.00..you wouldn't believe the little bag I got and paid $58.00...shaking my head...

The photo of the quilt doesn't do the piece justice

Dianne, we always have anti freeze in the vehicles, not so much for the cold, but for our heat we get here!
Barb, love the little donkey!
Bev, are you on meds for high blood pressure, or should you be? That can mess with your vision. Hope you go get them checked soon.
Betty, anytime you do a block of the month club, or buy a pre cut kit, they always charge you big time for it.
Some block of the month clubs charge $25.00 for each block!

Verona, ON

LOL LK I would never have thought of the heat needing antifreeze. Duh! What can I say, I had a brain freeze from all the chiggers? DH is killing himself laughing at my silly question.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, not a kit..only thing I was to purchase was the pattern, mine didn't come in so she gave me hers for January strip..just went through all my christmas material, lordy, no red for Santa's coat so I'm at a standstill, can't believe it!

Not sure Dianne I would have thought about antifreeze for heat either...but then I know nothing about cars, half the time when someone asks what kind of car I drive I say it's ' orange ' and it's 'automatic'....about all I know.

Danie just called, she's back from Montreal and we chatted for awhile, said she and hubby are working hard on making things right, of course our conversation was all about what he would do to make things right, again, kept my mouth shut! boy oh boy, getting good at that!

Time to call it a night,Pat and her husband are dropping in about 10am for the morning prior to Church luncheon, bringing some glass pieces for me to fire..

Haven't forgotten about sending you all a piece, actually half are made..waiting for me next trip across the border.

(((((((Mary))))))) you vent any little ole time you want!!

I just realized when I came in here that I hadn't been online for 2 days, and WOW what a lot of posts!! I couldn't possibly read 'em from Feb 2nd!! 3 days worth!!!!!!!!!!
Well, hope everyone's fine now (over any sickness, injury, or angst)
Love you all, and if I learned nothing else today, I learned that you're all a chatty bunch LOL

Lexington Park, MD

Barb that donkey is too cute.
Mary that is what we are here for . Better to get it off your chest keeping stuff inside is not good.
Betty we have hardwood floors we put down. I do not use anything but water or dry dust rag. When I do put something on them to give back shine I use Rejuvenate.
It is a floor retorer and protection and can be used on laminates, vinyl, tile anyfloor surface. We got it from Home Depot. May want to try before spending shed money on new floor. Here is the web site www.forlifeproducts.com.
Bingo is for books or gift cards. We did not win.
Coffee is on good morning to all.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning Laura, thanks for the coffee, are you using a new brand?

Some lovely flooring on the market, I look and say ooohhh/ahhhhh but think you are right, maybe the answer is finding the right product, might just head out to home depot this morning, need some dowels anyway, all HD must carry same products, thanks...

Got my box of Christmas remnants out, ahhhh just had a brainstorm, because I had no red I was at a standstill but Home Depot is right next to Walmart, they have fat quarters I thing right? Could I hit it lucky and find one??? Off and running, be back with Tim Hortons coffee and donuts...

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Let us know if you find your red. I have several Betty and could express it to you.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Aren't you sweet Barb, Pat and her hubby are dropping in shortly and she was going to look to see if she had any, don't need much, going to go through my stash once again, worse comes to worse he'll be a little brighter than he should...Walmart had many fat quarters but their reds leaned toward a pink tone..

Did find the product Laura and have already done the floors, adds nice sheen so we'll so how that goes..

As promised picked up the coffee and donuts at Tim Hortons, come sit a spell...

Know I was complaining that the material I purchased yesterday in Craighurst, very little for what I paid is pretty..am sure when it comes to the presents and other log cabin blocks in the piece they'll look amazing but am going to shop around as I'm not about to pay $17.98 a yard for material..

Betty that is adorable!!! I'm sure she is going to just love it. And speaking of love - I do love the fabrics you got. They are very pretty.
Have you considered going on line for fabrics? I'm not sure what is involved with postage but you can get great fabric a lot cheaper initially. Also what shades of red are you looking for and how big a piece do you need? I have some burgundy reds and some darker reds (not pink or orange).

Lexington Park, MD

Betty I will take the pink donut. And you will like the floors just let them dry.
LOVE the X and O. And the skunk is too cute. You did a great job.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good morning everyone!! We got snow yesterday and it covered my satellite dish so I couldn't get online. I'll have to try to catch up later, I need a shower LOL

Lyndonville, NY

We went from sunny skies...which we still have, to severe weather warnings posted....what the heck. Five to eight inches predicted. Lets hope it is like last weeks storm and fizzles out.

Betty, those are totally adorable...love it! What did you use to make the board? My Carrie Lynn loves ladybugs....well, and bugs in general, that is so cute. Dont' know if I could paint the rocks to look like anything...but rocks. lol

My son informed me last night I could come to his soccer game today....but if they lost....I can't come back. I feel so loved.

I am trying so very hard to maintain my temper this morning, could bury a body if the ground wasn't frozen and I didn't have my foot issue! Husbands are SO over rated.

Crissy, be careful in that snow. When does the new car come in?

I need to go....if I am going out in public (first time since Jan. 20) I need to put my face on. lol

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Laura, thank goodness you didn't say the banana cream one, ate it, ooops, was suppose to watch what I eat.. Pat and her Hubby aren't here yet, sure hope they come , would hate to have 5 more donuts to eat!!!

Yep, floors look a lot nicer, shinny and not streaked..will have to take a photo for you Laura..might keep the floor after all..lol

As for husbands being overated Debbie, I'm listened and I think although lonely at times I going to stay the way I am..even yesterday at Bernie's there was a nice man, Bernie said he was looking for a date, jokingly, guy said "I clean up nicely" just went over my head on purpose and I changed the subject...I sooo like it like I am, besides one might move in and I'll give him his shipping orders the day later like I did with Danie..

Barb, that's ok, I only need a piece for my Santa and I just might take a trip to Cooksville in the morning if the weather is nice. But, I think you sent me a dark/blue almost black with silver stars in it..want to make a few of the same for Christmas so will play with that piece as a lighter Santa might look better on the dark fabric...

I'm being Mrs. Fix-It this morning..not a dust bunny in the house, downstairs much the same but I've a chair that the runners were unglued, so took it apart, drilled the holes, re-drilled and glued, didn't have a clamp so came up with a bright idea to hold it tight while the glue dries...

Then when I re-organized one of the doors fell off my cabinet and with the kind of hinges...ooops got companyh

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I could send some fabric also, but it will take 2 weeks to get there.
Love the skunk, and the tic tac toe game! Make sure you pack it well, so it won't break.
Debbie, be careful going outside today! No slipping and sliding alowed! ^_^
Crissy, tell Dave to be careful when he has to climb and clear the dish!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks for your generosity girls, Pat brought me 2 pieces, one maroon and the other red so I'm ok, but, she also brought me the book of the quilt she's doing and wants me to do same...called Spirit of the Northwoods..omg it's absolutely gorgeous..I took photo's of the blocks she's done so far...want to see???

Cathy just called, last night she became violently ill during the night, got up to be sick, fainted...yikes, told her to stay in bed and not come visit me..lol

No ice fishing for her!

Good Day!!

Wow, Betty, can't tell you enough just how much i love you!
I did try and do something for myself...Tried to watch a movie and the dumb thing froze right in mid sentence!!
Boohoo, so went and laid down to try and nap...

You All, please forgive my outburst, Seriously got winter blues, and getting old just doesn't help...Yes, with a heavy sigh, it really is that time, I say well hurry it up and be done with it already!

Mary, Debbie, and all moms , I went in search for this wonderful song, called the Mom song!! It tells it all..But couldn't find it.
Hmm will have to ask Julia how to find it so I can copy the link for you, it's hysterical!

O M G...Betty, you just outdo yourself with every project. So smiling at the Tic tac to game. Geeeze, did I tell ya I should have joined that swap??? LOL who ever is getting that is sooo lucky!

Love the material from Craigslist too...I have been doing some research on computer, lol cause it's free, trying to find out how to do the stack and wack blocks. Found a great clip watched it a couple of times and tadah it finally clicked on how to! So, need to go through material and find a nice pattern that will work nicely. I have been so wanting to learn this since the first time I heard about it!

What beautiful Blocks your friend did! They are incredible.

OMG, Barb So glad you got all the snow off your roof. Yikes, keep hearing creaking, but Steve says is ok, so got to not think about it, and hope it holds...

Today, I actually slept in, till 10:15!! So i am raring to go, Going to put some music on and wash these floors again, yikes with everyone coming and going they are a mess...But am sure you all have that same problem, LOL we should just lay plastic down for entire winter.

So what are you all up to today?

Oh goodness, my cousin called this morning too...wanted to know what exit to get off at...That was pretty early so i was nervous she was here for Bahamama party which isn't till next week. But she turned around and went home. So I was glad to have called her to say when the party is. I did send her an invite, but it came back...We proceeded to chat for an hour. I don't think she will be able to come next week, she has some back issues and supposed to go to docs next week, we'll see.

Ohh, Debbie, i hope you go to soccer game, keeping fingers crossed for them to win!!
Had to giggle at his comment tho...Jake is in the wrestling conferences. I would love to go and watch his 30-40 sec matches. The last time i was able to go,he did have a match...He was just there to support the team. Well now conference is here, He took first place in the JV heavy weight, got a ribbon...Not sure when wrestling is done, but he is happy...On to Track and Field!

Waiving hi Janice, Thank you, How is the new car?? Sounds like a real pretty color too.

Linda Kay, It is still freezing out your way? Wow, your mustang is a gorgeous color...I hope the snow misses you. LOL, got a text from my friend who lives in TX, they got a a little bit of snow, schools closed, said the neighbor kids celebrated a snow day for 10 minutes! too funny.

OK, well them floors are calling...ROFLOL, at least i can enjoy the clean for about 2 or three hours.

OH...Note to Liz! He made a whopping 150, Jake went out and snow blowed many driveways and walkways after the storm. He and his friend were out until about 10. 150 was his half...They also did 3 drives ways for free. He has a warm heart for those people, they have known him since he was three. Always hire him when they need help, raking, shoveling etc...Now he won't except a penny from them, so they give him pop and treats, thats good enough for him.

Ok got to run...Be back in a bit, LOL your Blabbermouth friend is Back!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Wow - what a lot of work. That is a stunning quilt. I'd probably start something like that and half way through it I'd decide to make pillows out of whatever I had done!!! I have a friend that has made that quilt and it is stunning....I'll have to ask her for a picture....
