Betty, it's Beale Street. If you come down to Memphis I'll drive over and meet you again! There's this thing called Memphis in May, I've never been but it's a month long festival. You'll have to make sure you have time to walk the block, it's really cool!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today-visit with friends chat
I'll be sure to check it out..ahhhh wouldn't that be something if you could meet up with us..we're just checking things out, so far 3 of us..looking for a 4th..
temp on the computer says it is 75....but feels a little cooler to me. it is lovely outside in the sun!! sorry :( hope Y'all stay safe and warm.....wish I could do some yard work, instead of having to go to work....or some more sewing......
Kyle's quilt is coming along very nicely....
well I have to leave now for work :(
Drats, in the 70's, knew I should have stayed...
Didn't have lunch as yet, well ate at my desk but still going to take my hour..we're off to Walmart..lol once we return we'll only have 1 hour to go.
Paul had me cancel appts. move phone to the house, e-mail all staff to say 'bring some work home with you and stay safe-don't take the roads' asked him if it was sunshine in my neck of the woods should I come in, said no, nothing I couldn't handle from home..soooo it's a snowday tomorrow for me!!! yippee
YAY Snow Day for Betty!!!! Woooo Hooooooooo!!!!
Here Betty....
http://www.memphisinmay.org/
Nothing on the weekend that we'll be there, knowing all of us there is always something we could do
There's always something to do with Memphis in May, did you see the map?
http://www.memphisinmay.org/map
Map? She doesn't need a MAP she has the GPS! LOL
LOL! And corn fields!
ROFLOL!!!!
OK you guys, I found you all didn't I, got you all home safely didn't I?
Cornfields? still laughing Debbie and Crissy, thought you would have mentioned your trip into Pittsburg to see the mountain climb? lol
Just checking in on all of you, coming home they mentioned the path, now in Ohio and Illinois so worried about you all..know some of you lurk but today could you just send us a quick post saying you are ok..
Been a few days since we've heard from Bev and Shirley also...so if you can, update please!
I was just thinking about our Shirley & Tubby.....saying prayers.
Bev, on the news they showed your area being pelted by the snow storm. PLEASE be careful.
Betty, do you not remember getting "lost" in the city with the huge Arch we were NOT going up in but had to see? LOL The bridge was not friendly. lol Would have loved it all better, even the Indian digs...if it wasn't so dang hot that we couldnt' explore outside.
You are all going to have so much fun on the trip....and to see Elvis again. Sigh....
Debbie
You know I almost did, but it was time for me to go up front so I had to think quickly and today that just isn't happening LOL
Betty when are you coming down?
75? It's about 12F here (was -26C earlier.... now the temp has gone up! Thank goodness for Chinook winds!!
How are you all faring the storm???
Just played t.v. bingo, no $$$ to spend, you'd think they could call some of our numbers but not!!!
Do you know Debbie I'm still getting e-mails regarding the arch in St.Louis..guess I had checked out going up in it at one time and now they keep sending me e-mails trying to entice me back....someone should tell them they are wasting their time...
Debbie, have you finally gotten rid of the migraine? I am also worried about Tubby and Shirley, grown used to her posting such lovely heartfelt posts and now she's gone missing..she has so much on her plate that I'm sure if she has the flu it will take her a bit to regain her strength.
Susan, send us some of your Chinook winds..wow, it's cold outside or is it? remembered something I needed at the store so when Ann left out I went in my nightie, bare legs, coat, snow boots, ahhhh I looked special I got to tell you lol and it could feel that the temp had dropped quite a bit.
Nice feeling knowing I'll not have to brave the storm tomorrow and if there is no storm I can play crafts with all the girls who will be coming for the day..think I'd rather have the snow and stay by myself, would give me the time to finish that rag quilt and get supplies together for my visit on the weekend to Craighurst Quilt Cabin.
Called Shirley and Terry (Tubby) to see how they are doing..you could hear the cold in Shirley's voice, said she's starting to feel somewhat better but is worried about our Tubby, says he has a tightening in his chest and thinks he's coming down with the cold as well..difficult to get him to the Doctor's as they have had stormy weather these past 2 days, she's hoping that tomorrow will bring clear weather so she can make an appointment but in the meantime should she see changes in Tubby she'll get the ambulance to come pick him up..said to say hi to everyone ...got to tell you it's a godsend that her grandaughter is with them this week.
Now I've gone through all my telephone books looking for Bev's telephone number, don't you just hate it when you tidy things up and put names/numbers in new telephone books and can't find the numbers when you need them..going to look again, feel better when I know you are all ok
Found Bev and Scotty's telephone number, oh happy days...
They also are staying safe inside, not only did they get the snow but also freezing rain, not sure if the power will go out due to heaviness of the wires but hoping not...they have a gas stove I believe Bev said it was and should the power go out they will have to huddle in the kitchen but at least they will stay warm. Says she'll be glad when spring is here as she's already having cabin fever!
Joyce, Judy, Janice, Stacey..you are now getting the brunt of it..please/please let us know you are all ok..Laura and Barb are they calling for same storm in your neck of the woods?
Dianne, will be thinking of you as well, not sure if I saw on Breakfast television if it reaches to your area...
everyone else enjoying nice weather know we're all envious!!!
Bed time, yawning here, not sure what tomorrow will bring...
They have cancelled our school and all surrounding schools. Weather liars say now that the weather will be "worse accumulations" NORTH of Buffalo...along the Ridge/Rt. 104 area.....guess who lives there? MEMEMEME We are not supposed to get as much ice...but snow is tripple expected for Buffalo. Shane is a bit too excited no school.
My migraine is just a regular headache now.....but we may be living in your pull along if things down turn around soon. Working on piles of papers and lots of phone calls.
My Prayers to you all in this inclement weather ! (((HUGS)) Mary
Goodmorning all coffee is on.
No snow just rain temp is 38. High to be 50.
May need to send kids north to enjoy the snow.
Got to tell you the rain is needed but would rather snow.
Keeping eye on basement. No water inside. Think that is always in the back of my mind.
Morning all, hope you don't mind chatting with me today because I'm in my jammies!!! There is something to be said about inclement weather...
Wiarton Willie (groundhog) has been delayed this morning due to blizzard conditions, we'll know if we've more winter ahead of us shortly.
Toronto is all but shut down, here though it's much the same as any regular winter blizzard day..I am thankful though not to have to drive anywhere..I've got my list of 'to do's..just finished a load of wash, will finish the rag quilt and a swap item..IF I accomplish them all I'll be a happy gal.
Laura, hard to believe you need rain at this time of year? Can imagine after you've had a flood how you keep looking for signs of leaks..yep, send those little ones my way, am only 15 minutes from the slopes.
Debbie, just knew watching the weather that it was heaviest in your region....did Paul have to go to work? many of our companies did the same and told employees to stay home, not worth their lives trying to make it to work..Think all schools in southern and parts of northern Ontario are closed..am sure my grandchildren are all thrilled...
Debbie, soooo praying that something comes up to help you all out, what an overwhelming thing to deal with, seems it never ends...how's the foot, are you more able to get around, when is your next Doctor's appt.?
Mary, meant to post last night as you were talking about planting potatoes, potatoe bugs hate garlic and onions so when planting your potatoes add a few slivers of onion and garlic skin near them and your crop should be bugless...
Best I go upstairs and watch for my plowman, always good to move the vehicle and have him do a good job...I imagine Darlene will call shortly to let me know if she and the girls will be coming today, I'll have to find a little corner of the craft room to do my sewing if they do, lol
Be back in a bit
Got lots of ice and snow on top. Lots of wind but not as bad as they said we might. We are fine. Thanks and am praying for all of you that are in the path.Waiting for daylight so can see what it looks like. We are in the deep freeze for a couple of days now. Just hope and pray that the propane holds out. Y'all stay safe and warm. HUGS BEV
Bev, so glad that you still have power..guess it would be difficult getting propane truck in to refil..just heard Tuxeconi???? your groundhog predicted 'early spring' so start putting your winter clothing away and look for those pretty spring outfits!
Bev, will look forward to the photo's you'll take of the ice ladden trees but watch your step, wouldn't want you falling..was sooo nice hearing Scotty 's voice..
Was going to call Joyce and Judy last night after talking with Bev and Shirley but looked at the clock and thought better of it..hope they report in today..
Morning everyone! Puxatawney phil says an early spring also! ^_^
How about some hot chocolate to keep you all warm!
Bev, ooohhh look at that bunny trail..adorable set-up even in the winter time..should do more calling, have hours on my telephone, not used to that, new program I enlisted on but I always forget ..I'll have to write on the blackboard 'call a friend today' to remind myself..
LindaKay, how are you all doing, did you get any significant snow fall..thanks for the hot chocolate!!! How does your dad like this weather?
Where in Michigan will you be travelling to?
I could use a cup Linda. Thanks
It's doing the white thing again today. After 8" yesterday, they are predicting 12+ today. I have so much snow on the ground here that I don't think I'll find my lawn until September!!! I'm not lookind forward to the plowing bills although our plowman is very reasonable. He has had to come so many times. But this is Feb and a new month so if I break it down by month, maybe it won't be so bad. Oil man came the other day and took $10 off our bill because Norm had made a path to the fill and he didn't need to wade through all the snow!!!!! Norm always runs the snowblower completely around the house in case we ever need to get out there is a path.
I didn't get a thing done yesterday at all. Had some kind of stomach thing going on and spent the day in bed sleeping. I'm fine now but it sure threw me for a loop then.
As I sit here at the computer I can just turn my head a bit and see the lilac bush. All the birds use it for a landing spot before they take their turn at the feeder. I just wish they would stay there long enough for me to get a picture. Especially the woodpeckers. We have several and they are so pretty. We have a suet block for them and they are always around.
I'm off to get a load of laundry going. Please stay safe and warm everyone. Be back later...
No snow here yet, they say maybe Thursday night?
It is 20 here this morning, and Dad does not like the cold at all!
I will be flying into Grand Rapids, Michigan. It looks like it will be a short trip. I will be flying on 15 March, and leaving on 20 March. Hubby is staying here, as he has to work, and that means when he leaves for work, the dog has to stay outside, so I don't want to be gone too long! I am going to try and go to the Christmas village on Saturday, depending on the weather! Hopefully the snow will be gone? So hoping you can meet me there for lunch and a bit of shopping? I know that is a long drive for you, but I don't have a passport, and I can't cross the border to your side.
Hi Everyone!!
Thought I better check in today for sure.
Well, phooey, dead batteries in camera.
We are doing ok. Did shopping on Monday and we are all safely tucked in.
Breenie at Ryans, Jake at his buddies, Julia and Anthony at a Hotel a mile from work, and Steve and I at home.
YIKES, it is still snowing...
Glad to Hear your ok Bev.
Yep hope everyone gets to checking in today...lol can't do anything until it stops.
must make coffee, will be back in a bit.
Good morning,
Aside from the wind, which sounds like a pack of wolves howling at the door, there are piles of snow. It doesn't look "that bad" from the windows/door....but I am perfectly content staying in.
Paul did go into work, left at 4:15 to give himself extra time (normally leaves at 4:30...he kills me). Said the storm didn't do much, plows took care of the road and he as there same time as usual.
I am waiting to hear from the girls if they got to work Ok, or didn't go in.
All surrounding schools and colleges have been cancelled also.
My foot is doing much better. Wearing the smaller wooden shoe with velcro inside, and only the skiboot one if I have to go outside. Only need crutches on the stairs...so thats a big help also.
I haven't had coffee yet...so going to grab some and will be back in a bit.
Bev, love the pictures!!
Stay safe and warm
Debbie
52 thoroughbred horses need homes. Will go to Sugarcreek this Sat. for slaughter. Owner died and his son wants nothing to do with them. Most broodmares are broke. some are in foal weanling, yearlings, 2 and 3 yrs old most are gelded. *FREE and papered*. Friend of the deceased is trying to find homes 440-463-4288 or 440-463-4288 Barnes...ville, OH.
Copied from facebook, if anyone is near ohio, and wants free horses, please call the numbers!
Linda, I actually sent that message to my son in law to give to his dad. He has a small horse training facility and his wife works at a horse farm. He has a great heart so he will put a call out to anyone who he knows and can possibly help.
Barb your Norm is so special...there is a nasty virus going around which comes and goes, you think great I'm better then there it goes again..maybe you should rest again to day,set a chair near the window and enjoy the view..birds ARE entertaining.
Glad you posted Judy, was late last night when I was going to call, thought nope, had better not just incase you were in bed..today don't want to get on the telephone because work calls are transferred here, perhaps this evening..
LindaKay, let me know as the time comes closer, I'm always up for a drive, especially one to Frankenmuth..will go on the map and see exactly where you will be. Sure wish I lived closer LindaKay, sure would love a horse..friend has several and there would be room for 1 more I'm sure..how sad!
Glad Paul made it to work Debbie..hope you hear from the girls shortly..still snowing heavy and winds are up from time to time...glad the foot is improving, just watch you don't bang it on anything. Don't you think much of the travelling work force took notice and stayed home today?
LindaKay just check maps..think for you it's a 2 1/2 hr. drive, for me, closer to 7 but that's not a problem providing the weather co-operates..
Debbie wouldn't that be something if he could find a home for some of the horses....
Bev thanks for posting! Betty thanks for calling her! Love the bunny trail! Way too cute!!
Debbie hope those girls call you soon! My mom always calls me, she called me yesterday thinking that I was home with a snow day, we got thunderstorms and rain, then the storm lifted and went north of us. We have a high temp today of 32*. She got slammed though, 12"! LOL Shane! Glad your foot is doing better, just get rid of that headache!
My dad in Joplin, MO got slammed too! 18" I believe!
Jeanna emailed, she said they hardly got anything up there....normal drive into Buffalo, it is just cold.
I have been informed by Shane that chocolate chip pancakes are a necessity in weather like this.....so, I am off to cook. Then, we need a monopoly game. I cant contain the excitement. lol I will need to enjoy it because he will be in college come end of August.
Got notice from Jeanna that Carrie is sleeping in, her work cancelled last night...so she didn't have to go in.
Glad to see the kids are ok Debbie, now you can breathe..monopoly, haven't played that in years..in fact, mom gave me a monopoly game based on I guess Rama (gambling casino)..we don't play so still new in the box..should get it out and give it to someone..didn't someone say purge...lol
Crissy, imagine in this snow storm we had thundering and lightning..shaking my head..nice that your parents let you know they are ok..I would have thought with icy weather you might have gotten to stay home?
Working on the quilt, washed out the refrigerator and out went half the goodies, nice and clean now to keep it that way. It's just sooo much fun going from room to room and doing a bit of clean-up inbetween playing..think I should clean the 3 bedroom closet mirror doors, that alone would make things look cleaner..
What are you all up to?
I just heard all the horse have been adopted! Praise God!
Isn't that terrific news
