No, got the Sony, at lunch it's always more quiet so I'll call the library to see what step I've missed doing to put it from my sony e-reader file on computer to the actual reader..

Good Day!

OMG, snowing and snowing here...Suppose to snow all day, But I think I will go and and at least keep a path going.
Yesterday, I kept busy getting things put away. Hanging my head here, that basement was a total disaster!
LOL, I go down look at it, come up stairs shaking my head, just don't know where to begin. Julia, was up earlier then usual, asks me what the matter was, said OMG we are such hoarders!! No more room to put anything...So between the 2 of us, got alot of stuff thrown away, and placed things where they belong...What a difference. Debbie, I wanna borrow your crutch for said slapping. A certain someone came home, so I said you gotta go see the basement, he says OH NO you didn't put anything away did you?? Ackk, yeah why, he says I won't know where anything is! LOL Hands fly to the hips, My gosh, We just got things put back in order so we could walk through, he starts looking at the garbage, I steer him away, saying don't even think about it...This crap has been here, never touched, and you aren't going to touch it now!! Well then he says, I was going to fix that, I said you were going to fix that 3 years ago and it's still broke, it's garbage, ROFLOL, told him to go back up stairs, were done looking at the basement!

This morning, he is still sitting in traffic so calls me, with a verbal list, ok I say...will look into it. Hahaha Later! He then tells me somethings missing from the sun room...Hahaha, thats because I've been putting things away, trying to keep it de-cluttered, not an easy thing to do with all the coming and going. This morning, had Breenie ceramics project on table along with all the tools...WOWEEE, Was i ever surprised at how she made it, first sketch it on paper, then literally trace it on the clay then use tools to etch it further!! I'll have to take a picture of her work.

Shirley, I hope your friend will be able to pick up your meds for you. I hope the weather clears too so Tubby can get his appt.
OHHH, Shirley, i must tell you what I saw, maybe you could try it on the ramp if you have to...Sounds real Goofy or as DH say it's just silly, but I saw that it Worked! This guy down the street used His Leaf blower to clear his side walks of snow!! Anyway thought i'd pass that on to you, I hope you have a leaf blower...You sure keep yourself very busy, I hope you make time to relax too.

Debbie, I hope Paul's surgery goes well and that his eye heals. Also, glad to hear your foot is getting better, you best stay off it a while longer young lady! Also good to hear Shannon is doing well with wisdom teeth gone! Amazing how quickly the mouth heals.

Dianne, Thought that is pretty nifty trade! Fish for cookies. Yikes i don't like walking across frozen body of water of any kind either.
But i am too paranoid of that kind of dangerous activity...OMG, you should have seen me up North, i was a complete wreck while Jake was out snow mobiling, made him check in every couple of hours, drove my SIL insane i think...

Betty, i know it's tough when Extra people are in the house. Things get out of hand and out of place, But i hope that they help keep things in order. Awe, Danie paying you back in her own way. i understand how you feel though, Had a friend a while back that insisted on giving me gifts every time she saw me, little stuff but still drove me bonkers! Well hopefully things settle down and everyone falls into a compromising routine...So glad your evening went well the other night, dinner sounded wonderful.
Ohhh, I hope the library found your book.

Mary, so glad you got some meds to help along with vicks up feet! LOL....But seriously so glad you are feeling better.
Gosh, I'll have to watch that disney movie!

Linda kay, waiving hello. Thank you for the quilt sites! Had fun looking at the patterns. What are you up to?
I haven't been crafting at all lately. Julia gave me this electronic Sudoku, so i have been playing with that on break times.

Lets see...I've been typing for a while, got to get to that verbal list...Hahah, after one more cup of coffee and shoveling a path.

Enjoy the day and Please, be careful if you have to be out and about.

Either will work.

Betty, it is nice and cold today, only about 29 right now! So I have a nice pot roast ready to go into the oven, for dinner tonight! Just gonna let it slow cook all day!

Betty, don't mean to scare you, but with you falling, and sitting for a long time, that is an excellent way to get blood clots! Please go have it checked out! They hurt like the dickens. Todd and I lost a dear friend a few years ago, having the same symptoms, and by the time he went to the Dr, it was too late. He was gone a few weeks later!
Not scolding you, just concerned!

Hey Judy, you have my address when your done organising your place! Always seems to be so much, just stacked in the corners till you can't get through anymore! No more room in the outside shed either! I told Todd I was going to start sorting and offer stuff to girls here, before I sell it on ebay for pennies! I would rather give it away, then do that!
No crafting here either, but I need to get the sewing machine out, and get some quilt squares done, and make some pants for Dad.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy, had you not told Steve most likely he'd not have missed a single object....too cute, never thought of a snowblower, would work as long as the snow is fluffy..interested in seeing the clay pot she's doing, I taught ceramics for years and the best pieces done were clay lifting; this was done as soon as the piece came out of the mold and wet, had a narrow spoon like tool that you would lift the design on the mold piece itself..i.e. when pouring a hawk, I could lift each of it's feathers..miss doing this but lordy one can only do so much right.

Haven't called the library yet to find out how to download on to the actual sony e-book, will have to call at lunch after I pick up my quilting book I left under photocopier at Staples last night..girl said she'd put it away for me! If I had half a brain I'd be dangerous.

LindaKay after cleaning mom's place I decided that I would start purging as well, did a bunch at the same time I was putting my Christmas totes away but think I'll tackle a closet and drawer at a time..can you tell me why I'd save clothing that I'd have to weigh 96 lbs. to get into; never be a day that I would unless it's for burial!! we won't go there will we...

Thought LindaKay you'd be playing from morning till night with that new sewing machine of yours. Guess you needed a well deserved rest after the holidays.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mom was on the telephone 3 times already this morning, can't understand why when they know how much pain she's in and they got mri showing her that both need to be replaced that she has to wait for the specialist appt. mid Feb. and then how long after that for the surgery......then..... had me fax a paper saying she was turning her place over to management in Florida, manager that was there that said forward to us the ownership and the keys was no longer there and new girl in office said no $$$ will be refunded for January payments of land use so mom's not a happy camper, thank goodness the telephone rang and I said, 'have to go' gab later....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have to put the sweing machine away for awhile as I use the kitchen table for it! I was using Dads roombefore he came here from Washington, so now I need to get it out, and clear the table when I need it! Wish I had a craft room! Maybe when we hit the lotto?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the bread links Linda. They both look very promising. I'm going to send them to DH since this is his baby!!!!
The sun is shining and you would never know that storm is on it's way.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Just came in from shoveling some snow. One of the boys just came over and plowed the snow out of the drive. Said if it blows back in by AM they would clear it again. I just have the ramp to clean off and right along side of it. It's only 5 degrees out there, so came in to get warmed up before I finish. Tubby took his meds, will go in this afternoon and get mine. I'll pick up a few things I need and then home.
I'm not jealous of anyone getting the snow, but do be careful out there. I'll take the snow any day over the rain, sleet and ice.
I need to get my cleaning and organizing done before spring. When it springs comes there will be a million things to get cleaned up outside.
Chat later!

Lyndonville, NY

Judy, I would swear our husbands are twins! Steve sounds just like Paul with "I was going to fix that....something is missing, and I can't find where you put anything!" Maybe I should send both crutches and some duct tape!! lol Too bad you can't sneak it out for garbage day before he comes back and starts going thru it.

DH's surgery went well. I was amazed. He left me to go back at 11:36. I picked up a magazine on remodeling and painting....which I loved. Saw something out of the corner of my eye, and it was DH!!! I said What, can't he do it? "He's done!". I look at the clock...it was 11:40! It took FOUR minutes. Two of which were walking back and forth. He said they put a lense over top, told him he would hear a series of clicks...which he did....put in a few drops and done. Only restriction is no heavy lifting for a few days, and has to use some drops.

I behaved mostly. DH knew I had cabin fever and took me home (I drove) on the scenic route down Irondequoit Bay....where we saw the geese this summer. They are STILL there! Oh, I just love them. Took a few pictures (yes, out in the snow and ice) so will load them later.

Right now, I have an appt. with the couch, a pillow and to elevate the foot for a bit. It wasn't happy being out so long. lol

Debbie

Wow, that was quick Debbie! Sending prayers that it all works out well!

BREAKING NEWS......

Ann just called, said the doctors gave them some good news and some bad news, rather imagine lots was positive because you couldn't help hear the happiness and relief in her voice, said she's coming to play bingo, now wouldn't that just make our evening to win the jackpot...said she'd tell me all about it tonight when she comes for bingo..guess I'd best go purchase the bingo cards!

Thank the Lord, there are miracles out there...thanks everyone for your prayers, am sure they were heard!

Debbie, omg, how can they do such work in so little time??? Bet you were also relieved..two good things, we need another to make it three..
Glad you will take time to stay off your foot, over did it for sure. We've so many Canada Geese here I'd gladly send you some!

Shirley, hope the snowing and blowing stops long enough for you to get your meds...nothing like the feeling of being inside, warm and toasty when there is a storm..

wow, imagine me saying I'm busy..Paul was here and I said haven't had a minute for breathing today, he grinned and said, 'keep being busy like that and you'll soon be working from home!' let it come/let it come..

Got all my patterns in envelopes and address for the Christmas tree skirts, on my way home tonight I shall mail them so if you requested one, know they are on the way..

Lexington Park, MD

Oh Betty it must be good news for Ann to sound so good over the phone.(holding my breath and saying many prayers for them both)
Still no snow just light rain. YUK

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Can't wait to hear the good news!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, that is wonderful news!!

In all my ADD issues....didnt' mean to write geese....meant swans! Yes beautiful white swans in the snow and water.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

I'm back home from getting my meds and have taken them and am doing fine. I also picked up a few things and shoveling is done till AM. It's a whole 7 degrees, wow heat wave.
Betty - so glad that Ann is feeling up and hope the rest of the news is good. Have a great time playing bingo tonight. If you win how do you collect when you do it at home? That's sounds like fun.
Debbie - I bet the swans were beautiful. I love to watch them. They are so graceful. It's hard to believe they stick around with snow and cold. I guess I always thought they went south, but never really knew for sure. I know when I've been in Wis. on the way to the DD's I seenn them on the marsh. It's fun to cross that area as the geese, ducks etc. just walk across the highway. Everyone knows they have to go slow through that area. People will be out there with some very big and expensive cameras taking pictures and taping them. Glad to hear your husband's surgery went well. It's hard to believe they can do things so fast. We wish him the best of luck. Now sit back relax and order supper in.
I'm gonna make chinese tomorrow evening for supper. I would have done it today, but out of the mood. I better go get somthing done so will check in before I go to bed. Hope you all have a good evening and are all home safe and warm.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Talk about a lady of leisure, already had my bath, in my nightie, bingo cards set out, nothing to do...

Danie did a showing today..as soon as I got home she wanted to show me she had cleaned my cupboards, omg talk about organized, think 1/2 the food in them was thrown away, EXPIRED for many years she says..lol...oh well..boxes look good in cupboard when you don't purchase groceries..my theory anyway.

She's just cooked a 5 course meal, one of her sons is here, he's a bad cold so she's mothering..how will I tell her I'm not hungry??? oh/oh my maid just came downstairs and said we're ready to eat..yikes, wonder if I could have a little baggie on the side and pretend..sure smells wonderful.

Debbie, we have trumpetor (?) swans here, love watching them as well..

Shirley, glad you've your meds now sit and enjoy the evening with Tubby..as for t.v. bingo you call if you have bingo, all computerized so they tell you when there is a possibility of someone winning..if you call and you've the correct numbers you go to Midland tomorrow morning to the paint and decorating store on the main street and they give you the $$$...

Yikes, just got called again, best I go do what I'm told.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Betty, I'm still up on a cloud after talking to Ann. She sounds just wonderful and we pray it continues to be good news for she and Mike. She actually had a lilt in her voice.
Off to my bed and book for a while. Talk to all tomorrow....

Verona, ON

Oh Betty I can hardly wait to hear Ann's and Mike's good news. PMH rocks as far as I am concerned.
Dentist for me tomorrow - my 3 month checkup. Since my radiation last year did such a number on my teeth and gums I have to have a checkup every 3 mon. My root canal has been moved to Jan 21. Have antibiotics incase it flairs up before hand. Doc and Emma (our dentist and DW) just got back from a trip to the Galapogos or however one spells it. Can hardly wait to hear about it.
No snow yet here how about you Betty?
Judy you can count my DH in with yours and our sister Debbie's DH.When my DH used to hunt and go away for a week I had a blast throwing things out. Now he doesn't go away and I feel like a sneak thief rushing around the house throwing things out while he goes to buy groceries. LOL What in blazes is it with these guys'oh I will fix it next week' - ya right.
Mary how are you feeling sweetie? Did the Vicks do its job?
Glad you got your meds Shirley, I am terrible at remembering to reorder mine in time that I don't run out. My drug store in the village (ooops we are officialy a hamlet not a village - like who cares - ya blink you miss us) now calls me to remind me they are getting my Rxs ready for me. Gotta love it!
Ok need to go tend to Stormy's paw before DH has a heart attack. Think Stormy twisted it in the snow as when I checked earlier there is no wound, puncture or blood. Personally I think Storm has figured out how to yank poor DH's chain.
BBL
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Didn't win at bingo..always next week right!

Ann said that the doctors said 1/2 - the larger growths had indeed grown but they had a softness to them while the other 1/2 had significantly shrunk..he was undecided which route to take. When asking Mike if there was any change in his breathing and also if he felt stronger..Mike said he felt much the same as previous consultation..omg Ann said the Doctor still looked as though he might stop chemo treatments, then Ann spoke up and said that his color was better and she thought he'd improved...anyway they will give him 3 more groupings of this different type of chemo with consultation in Barrie between each grouping, so for today, they are flying high, positive feelings, that's all one can hope for.

Danie said tomorrow she'd not be home nor in the evening either, getting together as a family to celebrate her husband's birthday...think it's great if they can manage a stress free relationship but she told me she'd made a plate so I wouldn't starve tomorrow night.

Lordy I'm spoilt!!!

Gab in the morning..
Night night everyone, time I go to bed as well

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, prayers for you sweetie, let's hope you receive nothing but good news tomorrow! Guess we're both in luck, city is getting the snow tonight and tomorrow but I'm sure it will be our turn soon...enjoying the cold rather than the snow.

What happened to Stormy? Doesn't take much to get something under the paw does it..

Tired as can be and just realized I promised the girls who were here today that I would fire the 2nd batch of jewelery they made so they can pick it up tomorrow so am on kiln watch..drats, had forgotten all about it..

Bit on info: did you all know that May 8th is Lonely Sock Day????
Actually is celebrated by many..

Found the following little poem...

Thursday, May 08, 2008
May 9 is Lost Sock Memorial Day

In honor of the occasion, I have written you a poem:

Ode to a Lost Sock

Does anyone know
where the single socks go
when a pair of them go in the dryer?
Do they slip out to play
and wander away,
forgetting that they are attire?

Do they tire of their mate
and their tiresome fate,
every day in the dark of a shoe?
Do they follow the song
of a silky black thong
and cling to that siren like glue?

Are they captured by pirates,
or stolen by gnomes
who are jealous of our cozy toes?
Are they pilfered by mice
to make their nest nice?
Are there gangs of barefoot Eskimos?

There are those who say,
in a sinister way,
that a dryer's a portal in space;
that socks who fall through
(and they swear this is true)
warm the feet of an alien race.

Ah, does anyone
anyone anyone know,
someone who isn't a liar?
Does anyone know
where the single socks go
when a pair of them go in the dryer?

Lyndonville, NY

Here are a couple swan photos for you. I believe they are Mute swans, but not sure.

One of them had a "band" around its neck, and I filled out the report/form on line...to see if they can trace where he/she is from!

This one I think is a trumpet

Those are so pretty! Do you feed them?

Lyndonville, NY

No, I don't usually feed them. But others do toss them crackers and bread. It was about 22 degress ....with a nasty windchill. I just stood in front of the van and took the shots...as I wasn't taking crutchs in the snow and ice. I am NOT that gracefull.....

But these guys are very graceful...and so relaxed looking. This half of the "bay" was moving...under the bridge...on the other side...was solid ice.

Betty - I LOVE THAT ! :)

Be back soon.....

Baton Rouge, LA

Oh Debbie ! We cross posted ! How beautiful ! And is that a Black swan ? There is a home near me with ducks and an occasional swan but I've never seen them like this... "out in the wild"... ((HUGS))

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hi everyone - sorry so behind in here - been MIA since Jan 8th, apparently.
I'm not going to be able to catch up on news here, though......... sorry :-(

Betty - just read above post about Mike - I hope he's doing well enough for treatment......

Jan 23 is National Pie Day, and we're celebrating it at work on Mon Jan 24th.
There's a Pie Song from "Michael"
"Pie, pie, me oh my, nothing tastes sweet wet salty and dry
All at once as well as pie, apple, pumpkin, mince, and black bottom,
I'll come to your place every day if you got 'em
Pie, me oh my, I love pie."

I'm gonna make some Pie Suckers (tiny pies on a sucker stick). Gonna surprise 'em at work, cuz I'm Sure no one's heard of them before LOL

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh geeze - took so long posting, that I cross-posted with Everyone after Betty...... oooooopsie!!
Niters all!!

Verona, ON

Morning everyone! Been up for a few hours so am more than ready to go to the dentist.
Betty it snowed here overnight and still is snowing - only about 5" - 6" accumulation so that's not bad.
Debbie the swans are so elegant. At Stratford Ontario where the Shakespearen Theatre is the swans can be found in great numbers. They can also be found to be quite cranky and actually chase people hoping to get a bit out of them. We have 2 swans that winter here on the lake down by the creek with the beaver run under it. They look so cold sometimes I want to knit them a scarf.
Enjoy your day everyone! Make sure you do something nice for yourself today!
Dianne

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Well it's snowing like crazy here now.... We woke up to about 4" on the deck about an hour ago and now it's almost 6" . I took a picture but will wait another couple hours for day break and some light so I can get a good one. I'm staying in and sewing today but Norm has to go to work. Being the only hardware store in town on a day like today is hard on the employees. And since Norm lives the closest with the shortest ride to work, they asked him to come in. He was supposed to have today off.... Oh well, it is what it is. Be back later....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, sipping on a coffee, no chores to do, drats Danie is doing all the work, could you see me laying on the chesterfield being served hand and foot last night? Got to stop...lol

We only got a dusting but driving in the city will be terrible this morning..it's their turn, been there done that..

Love the photo's Debbie, they are so very graceful. At Wye March, about 5 minutes away they do much in saving the trumpeters as they are almost extinct. Midland is known for it's efforts and people come to see these swans in great numbers..Midland erected a 25ft. trumpeter to greet them...

Dianne, best you be careful driving out in that storm today, know it's a must to see the dentist but not worth taking your life in your hand.

Debbie was watching Breakfast television and they made reference to your area..you stay in as well..

From what Barb says she's been hit as well, should be a DG garden snow day and we can all stay home...

Barb, too bad Norm has to work today, am sure you had mega plans for him...

How about you Susan, you been having this kind of weather as well....would love to be around to taste those pies..so many interesting celebration days that we just don't know which are which..In February we in Ontario, not sure about your neck of the woods Susan, we get to celebrate Family Day, for some reason I think it fall on Monday-Feb. 14th..not fond of that celebration, always brings the knowing you are all on your own to heart..

Well, Danie asked if I could pick her up another Blackberry Bluetooth so will have to leave a little earlier than normal so best I get my act into gear!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Norm just called. Took him 20 minutes for a 4 minute ride. But he arrived safely at work. I took this about 5 minutes ago!!!!

Thumbnail by Quilter5bdsr
Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad he arrived safely Barb..guess you learn in your area that you must fill up with milk/bread, food staples just incase you are house bound for a few days just like we do!!! Enjoy your day of play.

Listening to the news before I left home, some idiot stole a municipal plow, police team tried to stop him, the man ran over one policeman who when others arrived had no vital signs, haven't heard if he's still fighting for his life or dead, then another policeman, minor injuries trying to stop the man and police had fired 3 shots, culprit injured but how badly don't know..all in same hospital..drats, what ever comes over an individual to do such things???

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That's as bad as the idiot who shot a congresswoman in Arizona!!! She is alive but a 9 yr old girl and 5 others are dead and several others shot.......Idiots all!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Can't imagine what goes through these peoples minds! Tragic for sure..

Lexington Park, MD

Tragic yes but prayers for congresswoman are working. Idiots ........
Sorry guys but I wanted some snow and got none!!!!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Debbie the pictures are great. I love to watch them. They are so large and yet so graceful at the same time.
Susan that's interesting pie on a stick. I can't say I have ever heard that before. I have to say that the Canadian's do have some interestin days of celebration.
Barb am so glad that Norma made it to work and is safe. Please tell him to be careful on the way home this evening. Do you guys live on a street that gets plowed first or do you have to wait? I lived on a main artery when I lived in town. It was nice cause it always got cleaned first, and it was main arteries all the way to the beauty shop and hospital. The shop use to be on a corner, so it was alot of shoveling by hand and at home it was cleaning out the end of the drive. My ex would never get up and clear the way with the snowblower, he waited till daylight and would clear all the neighbors. It always made him look good in their eyes. Oh well, water under bridge.
Betty what makes people do things like that is beyond me. I'm always sorry to hear people got hurt. I'm sure the guy had no remorse for what he has done. They usually always blame it on drugs, but some people are just evil. May God be with them all. I enjoyed your sock poem. I've had that problem myself. It does amaze me where they end up. The is quite a statue of the swan. You be careful going to work as well.
Dianne please be careful as you go to the dentist. We wish you the best of luck.
Well, I've been up for long time and better go get dressed and something done before I have to take Tubby in for dialysis. I know his Hemoglobin is down so that 's why he is so weak and sleeps so much. I'm hoping they will give him some blood to help, we'll see today. If they decide to it will not be until tomorrow as they have to order it in because of the antibodies and everything they have to do to it first.
Talked to the youngest daughter in Omaha last night. They are having a birthday party for their oldest one Sunday at bowling alley or pizza place. Wanted to let us know so we could come, they are crazy sometimes, they know there is no way Tubby can do that, so will have to bow out. I know they meant well, but guess I just wanted to vent, sorry.
Well everyone that has to go out be very careful and will chat later. I need to go get dressed and get a few things done before it's time to go for dialysis. I'm hoping Tubby is strong enough. I know his hemoglobin is down since his INR was high. I don't know if they will consider transfusing any blood. If they do it has to be ordered in because of everything that needs to be done to it. He is weak and sleeps most of the day and night lately.
Shirley
