We are at the top of our WNY weather roller coaster with a current temperature of 55 degrees. Once we crest the top, we will plummet down to the 20's tonight with some snow. Hang on to your hats, it's going to be a wild ride!

Hope you are all enjoying your New Year's day holiday.

-Blessings, Dave.

Thomaston, CT

I hope you are as well, Dave. Didn't get out to walk today since I had company, but I did have the windows open in the kitchen & bedrooms....just closed them, but haven't put the heat back on yet....wish this weather could last!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Snow is melting

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

50's today, snow has melted. Calling for 30's tomorrow.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Warm and still in the 40s. Very foggy from the evaporating snow, yeah! Wish the warm temps would last until March. but colder temps returning this week. A lot of the snow has melted at least that is a good thing, still we will have a layer probably until the Jan. thaw.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

46°, slight wind from the West at 3 mph, humidity up to 93%, Cloudy
- Cloudy with occasional drizzle throughout the day going up to 48°. Big temperature drop tonight to 25° and clearing.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

Currently 27 degrees and about an inch of snow on the ground in WNY. We've hit the bottom of the hill and will probably stay here for at least a week.

Have a blessed and super Sunday, folks. :)

Thomaston, CT

Same to you, Dave.....temp is 43, foggy in places.....had quite a downpour this morning, but it's taking the snow....green patches on the lawn.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

We're back in the cold! 28 and sunny.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Warm and foggy here. 45 and overcast.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

in the 40's here and overcast - just back from a hike up the small mtn. here in ashberham - very slushy - great exercise and as usual a couple nice good size rocks found there way into the truck - the extra weight of carrying one down in my backpack really helped keep my footing - have tomorrow off and may go back if a freeze does not happen - would need skates then.

Thomaston, CT

Just came back from my walk......43, & foggy in places.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Bill, that congressman who thought Guam was going to sink because of the weight of all our military equipment would probably be afraid to stay at your place! Big sinkhole to be.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

you have no idea

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Have some stats from my weather station for 2010 - starting from May 7th, when I installed it, through December 31st.

Total precip - 31.92 inches.

High temp - 102.1, on July 6th.

Low temp - 11.9, on Dec 10th.

Mean temperature during the entire time was 60.2 - abnormally high since it did not include the winter months of '10. I believe the average is usually around 50.

August was the rainiest month, with 7.6 inches. 4.88 inches of that fell on Aug 22nd, with another 0.87 inch the next day.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Should be very interesting when compared to the coming 2011's stats. Plagued with lack of decent rain here all last year.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Came in large spurts here, so it still was a drought year for all intents. Lost a number of plants, including established ones.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Downright balmy today

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- haven't been able to download any stats from my station since I switched to a 64 bit computer. The program is incompatible, my backup machine is 64 bit also. Only DW has a 32bit on her business laptop - to make matters worse one of the two resident squirrels here jumped on my electronic rain gauge from the garage roof and knocked it down, - cracked it and totaled the solar cell. (bad year.. lol)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ouch!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Too bad WC. The squirrels have chewed through a few light strings I had strung up in the garden, guess I should only hang them when I want to use them.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I love 'em all, but boy can they cause trouble sometimes! lol

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My exact thoughts about women.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Raining now on Nantucket and 45. Does not feel like winter. Patti

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

28 now going to 37

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I thought it was darker on my walk this morning, then realized it's because our snow is gone. Made quite a difference.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

low 20's here this morning

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, the snow really reflects a lot of light.

28 and clear. Cold temps are back.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

30° here, wind from the NW at 10 mph windchill 22°, humidity dropped to 43% and we have clear skies.

Supposed to go up to 35° today with clear skies for the remainder of the day, turning partly cloudy tonight with a low of 23°. Temps here still tolerable, wind a little cold, but fine for this time of year.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

It is a bright, sunny 24 degrees in WNY. Staying in the twenties today with some snow flurries.

Have a blessed and marvelous Monday, folks. :)
