Best/Worse/What did I learn today-visit/chat with friends..

Baton Rouge, LA

Oh Dianne ! I have missed you lately ! "Yeast impaired" LOL... I remember a friend telling me she "Lost her Bleach license"... same thing... just no success with it...
wonder if I have the same health prob... can't seem to lose any weight in the 'middle' and I've tried working out last year... I've put myself on a diet for the new year and it's been pretty successful so far (TWO days LOL) because with this cold I have lost my appetite ! HAHA!

Deb/ Laura - I BOUGHT my VICKS today ! On lips and chest... will try on FEET in a bit... HAHA!

Hugs,
Mary

Baton Rouge, LA

Deb - Vicks on FEET and I feel better already ! Whether or not it's a placebo effect... it's working ! LOL (HUGS)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear your feeling better!

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

Shirley, when I took my friend for chemo, I would park in front of the door, go inside, get a wheelchair, take her in and then go park the car or go do my shopping ect.

When I picked her up, I would go in to see if she was ready to leave. The nurse would put her in a wheel chair. Then I would go drive the car to the front door and bring her out to the car.
Sending prayers to both of you.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Lizh - I usually pull up in front, but it's so congested sometimes that I decided to park on the side that day. I figured it would be easy since there was no one else there and no curb to have to go over. There are alot of people in wheelchairs and it seems like they arrive and leave all about the same time. I will ask if they can help if his legs are jumpy again. If I make the platform it will just bring him up that much higher to get his rump on the edge of the seat. Will let you know how it works.
The sun is coming out and should be a nice day. They say we are to get some snow tomorrow evening into Friday and then Sun. eve into Monday. Take what we get and keep the ramp covered. Well, I don't know too much, will chat later. Have a wonderful day to everyone.
Shirley

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning from stormy Barrie..yikes not only could I almost not find my home last night but nearly missed the drive here at the office..so pretty though, it's a heavy snow, tree branches layden with snow..will have to take a photo..it's picture perfect..got to tell you all the snow tires was money well spent!!!

Danie and her son are suppose to head home today, about 8 - 10 hr. ride, hope she listens to weather forecast or calls her hubby to get weather report (think they are still talking)

Last night Ann and I did play t.v. bingo and were down to 1 on 3 of the big games, one I needed G60 and Ann needed G60 on another but no go...she was in a great frame of mind, Mike had been to chemo in Barrie, he put on 2 lbs. so that's great news; believe that he goes to see if he will continue chemo next week, praying he can and that it's working!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lizh, how are you feeling these days? Much snow in your neck of the woods and if so how do you keep yourself busy?

Shirley, your mom is right, I too feel that where there is a will there is a way! Kids always say I take on much too much but it's a great learning experience and always so proud when the project turns out..just don't try and do the ramps all at once...can you cut wood outside or must it be inside..so much dust..just had to have my furnace cleaned because of all the inside cutting I do.

Glad you had a nice visit with Tubby's previous Doctor. What did Tubby say when you told him?

Debbie, how's the foot? Are you getting this weather as well...am told that Buffalo should sent a 'thank you' note to Canada for all the business they are getting with the youth world hockey games...final game tonight, Canada vs. Russia...both great teams..they say that hardly a square inch isn't covered by Canadian over there for tonight's game..guess they are spending $$$ left and right, good for your economy..usually it's me over there spending, nice to give someone else the chance to find bargoons.

Crissy, you back at work and feeling ok?

Mary, no thrill rides for me, if we met there you'd have to do them solo.. glad you found the vicks

50 here but rain, rain, rain. Pass the coffee please. Packing to go back to my sister's home provided the rain clears in the morning. Mom isn't doing well and I need/want to be there.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sending prayers Marion, please be careful if driving in the rain all the while having much on your mind.

LindaKay, any news about your niece? Her mother must be frantic!

There Debbie, wonder if Kohl's has the cup holder..what will they think of next.

Snowing like crazy here as well Debbie, I'll pick you up, what time do you think we could get to Linda Kay's???

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

LindaKay - I love the cup holder, you are quick. I'm jealous to your weather, wish we were there. I'll think about you when the snow starts to blow tomorrow. Hopefully it won't amount to much. The hot cocoa sounds good, maybe will have this weekend. Love marshmallows in it.
Betty - I'm glad you made it to work okay. I don't look forward to driving in that kind of weather. Please be careful going home this afternoon, or can you stay with someone there if it's too bad? No, we have a shop just to the west of the house and that is where all the saws and stuff are kept.
Marion - So sorry to hear about your Mom, God be with her and you and family at this time. We'll be thinking of you and saying prayers for all.
I just went out and gathered the lumber together that I need to build the portable platform. I'll build it after I take Tubby into dialysis. I have a blanket my DM made out of old jean patches and a double knit fabric on the back side. She made on for my DS's car to put over the back seat for her dogs. I knew someday I'd have a use for it. Let ya know how it turned out. I just don't want it to weigh a ton.
Chat later.
Shirley

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No news yet!
Oh, If I had the time, and knew you were traveling, I would do my best to meet you somewhere in the middle!
Someday my schedule will be clear!

Betty, I will be bring Dad to Michigan, the middle of March! Do you think the roads would be clear for me to drive, and meet you near detroit, or frankenmouth! We could have coffee and fresh fudge at the Christmas shoppes???

Glenview, IL

Good Day everyone.

Oh Linda Kay, sent prayers for Ashley.
Sending Prayers for you and Mom, Marion. Please drive safely

I hope everyone with colds are feeling better.
Mary, your so cute, how did the vicks on feet work for you?

Well, I am a little more than disappointed my friend from long ago has not called.
Sigh, I do realized I sort of fell back into her life, I guess, i can't expect her to drop everything just for me.
So while I waited, I undecorated from the holidays, swept and vacuumed...Talked with Liz.
What an undertaking getting everything back in order...LOL, since the last few years, we haven't been home so we've only decorated mininummly (aack, just can't spell today!) So things have been put back in a hurry. I am trying to get better organized, so reorganized all the decorations, amazing how nicely everything fits on the propper shelves!
Now i am working on getting my craft area ready to roll, it looks very cluttered and in total disarray and it's beginning to get lonely for a project.

Wow, Thanks everyone for your input about DD...what ever DH said to her, seems to be working. Yesterday, She came home from school and immediatley did the dishes! Asked how her day was and to my surprise, said it was good. This morning up and at it before I got up. Thank goodness, back to normal, lol whatever that is.

Shirley, you just amaze me with all that you do!
Linday Kay, lol cool cup holder...

OH Waiving to Stacey...Finally got a chance to read your blog. OMG, I adore the lil elf Bubbies was.
What a sweet first Christmas.

Ohh Betty, Dianne and Debbie, woah, please be careful if your driving!
Eye brow raise, 71??? On my way too. Cold here 21.

Well, today One DH's guys came to pick up his check. Good thing i was home, no mentioned to me he was coming, and i was preparing to go get my emission test done.

OH heres a story. Remember all the craziness with getting it done. My check engine light appeared, had to have it reset and finally passed the test. ..Well, grrr if that light didn't pop on again. I told Dh and he said at the time, who cares you passed. OK, as long as i don't have to worry, decided to not care it was on...Not to long ago, I went for an oil change, they checked fluids and other stuff and told me the battery was getting corroded, told Dh, so he went and cleaned of the connection, next day poof light went off! It was good for a couple of days, poof light reappears! long heavy sigh...When we were at my Brothers, it was very windy and cold. DH went to warm the car, dicovered battery was dead, so thankfully DB had a nice charger, dh Charged battery and Poof, no light! So far so good, so this afternoon going for test again! Well, I said maybe we should just buy a new battery, hello...

Well, i better go find something to get into.
Enjoy the day

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Hey, Betty, I was in your favorite neck of the woods the other day. I went to Lansing for New Year's and my friends and I decided to go to Frankenmuth for a few days and shop. we went on the Wednesday before New Year's and stayed the night and came back to Lansing on Thursday. We had a ball shopping at both Bonner's and the town. Now that I have the inheritance from Dad I don't have to worry about how much I spend although the Scotch in me has me going slow.
I went crazy at the Carters Kids and Babies store for Jonathan. Got him the craziest dragon suit with a green top with scales down the back and green pants.

I also bought a new big screen 46" TV. My son and grandson came over while I was gone and installed it, moved the old one to the bedroom, and installed the mini-cam for the computer that my friend gave me for Christmas. She said it was a selfish gift; so we could see one another when we chat. Was nice to have all that done when I came home.

Got home late Monday and spent Tuesday taking down all the Christmas stuff and tree. Git it all in plastic tubs and when my son came by last night he put them all in the big closet in my garage. I still have some snowmen stuff up so the house doesn't look so bare but everything is put away and cleaned up. I even got the wash done, too. I was a busy girl!

Jonathan is so cute! He is babbling and making all kinds of noises and he pushes up with his feet. We think he will walk before he crawls. He stares at things and and just gets all involved in them. I love to see him growing and changing.

Stacey made me a lovely rag quilt for Christmas and I have it in the living room. It is just the thing for cold winter nights. She also made some coasters that the dog wont hurt if she gets a hold of them. Those are just the good things that happen when you turn your DIL on to sewing!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Janice! So glad to see you posting! Can't wait to see your choice of pattern, and colors!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Janice, think I passed the Lansing cut off, did I??? Lucky you and even more lucky that your are able to spend some of those $$$, I'm sure your dad is smilling down at you for doing so...nice to have treats from time to time. Ahhhh so one of those rag quilts went to you, what color? Hey I have a webcam here at work, maybe you could invite me on the system you us and we can chat..smart girl your girlfriend! Bet you could visit with Jonathan once a week and still see changes..from what I recall when passing your cut-off you are only about 1 or 1 1/2 hrs. from Stacey's right? was saying the other day, maybe once the roads clear you could come spend a weekend. Who knows, maybe Joyce could do the 2 or 3 hr. drive to your house and keep you company..not that far, get up extra early and you'd be here by lunch. Remember, watch the youth world hockey game tonight and watch our Canadian beat the Russians..t.v. is big enough for you to think they are right in your liviing room...better I not brag before they win, might be bad luck.

LindaKay, usually in March we've nice weather, unless a blizzard I'd be glad to meet up with you, perhaps you could try and schedule it where I could come on a weekend, got to save those holidays for the gathering and travelling east..want to visit with Barb and Laura at some point.

Shirley, it's now bright, snow is turning to slush so will be a great ride home...might even take photo's on my way home; how lucky you are to have a workshop,we'll be anxious to see the finished project; speaking of projects did you ever finish the island???

Went out for lunch, been talking about my refrigerator freezer not being big enough but not wanting a large freezer so I saw the perfect thing, it's no bigger than those little refrigerators one puts in the basement and it has drawers that you pull out to organize what is to be frozen...only had floor display so said 7-10 days to get it in, game me a bargain price so now I'm anxious to get it.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty, that freezer sounds perfect. Tell me more about it. Kim and I need another small one (only have what is with frig) and your post as got my curiosity aroused. Of course, won't be in the market for a while until things level out here. Still have rain and 48.

Just going through photo's, entertaining myself and came across this one...

Marion, here's the freezer..just the right size..

http://www99.shopping.com/Avanti-VM301W/info

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Than k you so much. That looks like what we had in mind to add. Just haven't had much time to research them lately. Let me know how you like it.

Oh does those ribs look good.

Victoria Harbour, ON

They were tasty, one of the best ribs on rhythm'blues alley..wanted to stay longer and enjoy but we were all on a mission ..needed to go see Elvis..lol

I'm sure the freezer is just the right side to have extra's but not have them get lost in a freezer chest.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

That is exactly what we need. We lose things in the bigger size and after a while we forgot what was in it. Cleaned it out and gave it to my yardman in return for work. Barter system at it's best!! Of course that was 2 years ago and now we are looking for a smaller size that will be better suited to our needs.

ROFLOL about Elvis.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Marion, I often pray for your mom, it's a hard road to walk watching our family age and see how frail/ill they become, how they become the child! Takes you several hours to get to your sisters correct? Is she feeling better and does she still have all the kitties?

Judy, are you out shopping for a battery..know sometimes those lights have a short and nothing to worry about but the question is how do you know it's a short....Steve is handy with vehicles so I'm sure he'll get everything under control. Glad the family issues have now been settled..maybe that's all she needed was to have a long talk with dad.

Cathy went to the post office today and I got several cards...thanks LindaKay/Judy and Barb..Barb love the block from Ellen, really should do something over the next few months to put together the Christmas blocks, the 2010 block swap blocks and I just found a large bucket with a quilt I started that you sew and quilt all in one, had forgotten about that...will give Ann the card you sent for them, your generosity always brings a smile to her face...you did read that Mike put on 2 lbs.??

Well, had my bath, furries are fed, off to make hot chocolate and have cereal then the couch so I can read my book and watch the hockey games...say 'go Canadians/go Canadians'

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

GO CANADIANS! Hope that helps Betty. LOL I'm not one to watch sports, but I always wish they could all win. Hope the game was good.
I got the platform made before I went back to get Tubby. It worked great. I think I will put two handles on it to help pick it up off the ground when done loading him. The top board had an old pic. of Bert from Sesame St. so I just left and laughed. Tubby got a kick out of it. I'll take a pic. of it and the island. I still haven't had a chance to get the knobs for the island. I will some day when it's nice and I can get my Mom to stay with him. I'll work on the the other one tomorrow. It'll take longer to get done.
My DS had her heart cath. today and everything was good. She should have come home tonight. I'm so thankful for that. They will slowly adjust her BP medicine to bring it down further.
Now girls, don't you know that you are to tape a piece of paper to the freezer and write down what you put in it and cross it off when you take it out. It sounds good, but I've never done it myself. The dogs get what is too old. They like it and it never really goes to waste. The chicks get any veg. or fruit that is too old. That's why I never had to have a garbage disposal put it. The rest goes to the compost. We're into sharing and recycling our way.
We had a meeting at the dialysis clinic with all those involved in Tubby's care. The main thing is his nutrition. They asked about a feeding tube, but the Onc. says no. We will discuss everything with his main Dr. on Friday. They want to put a fistula in his arm, but I'm hesitant about that.
Well, I'll close for the night and chat with you all tomorrow. Sleep tight everyone.
Shirley

Deb - if you read my posts earlier... I absolutely VOTE FOR VIcks on the feet... actually...I'm going to do this again right now...

However I took a turn for the worse today and My boss told me to go to the DR....and he gave me a cortison shot and prescription...

Hang on.....going to vicks the feet now...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!

Ashley showed up in Michigan at her Sisters house at midnight with her husband! Her Sister was so upset that she brought that sex offender to her house, as she has 3 small kids there! Her Sister told Ashley she was more than welcome to stay there, but not her hubby! So they both left and was going to return to Colorado. Well they were speeding and got pulled over, and he got arrested. They told Ashley she could leave, so she is driving by herself back to Colorado now! Not for sure what is going to happen to him, but it sounds like he will be serving quite awhile this time, as he exposed himself in the liquor store, then failed to appear to his court appointment!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Oh Linda Kay - It's funny how things happen for a reason. We are praying that your niece will seek the help that she needs now that he is in jail and hopefully won't be able to influence her any more. We'll keep her in our prayers. God be with you all. Sorry, can't make this morning for coffee, but am raising my cup to ya.
Betty - hope the drive into work was better this morning. Do the roads freeze dry through the night. I know that your air is alot drier in the winter then here? We have a little frost this morning, but that's all.
I'm gonna go wash some bedding and start packing some stuff up. I'm gonna cancel Tubby's appt. with the Neuphologist today as we had a meeting with him yesterday and he won't be able to tell us anything different today. I can't see spending the time or money. I make it for a couple of weeks from now.
Hope everyone is doing better today. Chat with you all later.Oh ya, Tubby says Hi! to all. He's a lot more chipper so maybe we will slowly see an improvement. I hoping that eventually he will want to get back on the computer himself, don't worry I'll still stick my noise in now and then if that happens.
Have a good day to everyone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, her sister had every right to be annoyed, omg why would she think it would be ok..I know, not thinking clearly right now..Shirley is right, with him in prison and the help of her family who love her she might take the straight and narrow road....prayers for all

I was reading when Kyle called last night, wanted to know if I wanted company to watch the hockey game, we watcher 1st. 2nd. period and Canada was winning 3-0, told Kyle things could still change...Melanie picked him off and guess I dozed off and didn't watch 3rd. period but woke up just in time to see the Russians getting the gold..drats..they played well so deserved it.

Glad your platform turned out Shirley, am sure Tubby is proud of how you are trying to make life easier for him..so you've got an extra day at home, am sure you've enough to keep you busy! Tell Tubby we're all sending hugs and looking for the day he can post. DO NOT go missing if he does, so love to see you post..you are one of our family now!

Danie called last night to say she'd be at my place later this evening, said she had lots to talk to me about, as much as I want to be supportive don't want to get too involved with the situation, depression comes easily enough let alone trying to help her solve every issue when she thinks she's 100% and he's all wrong..will sit though and listen!!!
Sometimes that is all it takes is to listen..

Thunder will keep them in my prayers and special prayers for you and yours! May they soon all be home with their families...Scott, my nephew returned home just before Christmas, think his last tour is over..will have to give him a call... are you now home?

Mary, sorry to hear you are not feeling better, maybe now that you've got some meds from the doctor they will help. We're all the same, have work commitments and put work before our own well being..take it from me it's not worth it..put you first...keep rubbing the vic's..

Debbie, sounds as though yesterday wasn't your day..let's hope you woke up this morning to sunshine coming in your window and things take a turn for the best. Never understand how one poor soul has so much going wrong in her life...wish I was closer and could provide warm hugs..I'll send some your way, might be cold by the time they reach you but hugs are hugs

Left earlier than usual not because of weather but because I wanted to enjoy the drive in..roads were clear, scenery looking pretty so I took a photo and now have it on my screen saver.

I had bought a cordless keyboard/mouse on Boxing Day and when I left for Florida Danie was connecting it, found it on the table saying it was a piece of garbage (oh/oh) so had wanted to bring it in and exchange for a better one today but in my hurry forgot. Tomorrow I'll head out to the Stained Glass Studio and pick up a few more things for jewelery and Xscargo is just down the street so will return it then...

Lordy, already spent next week's allowance and the week hasn't even started..lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I agree Betty, he is in a place he should be, and hopefully will learn his lesson! The family says he mau get 20 years this time, for all the violations he did! As far as Ashley, I hope she goes back home, and gets herself straightened out! She is too young to be doing things like this! She is only 21.

Betty, where is the picture of your screensaver! Would love to see your beautiful snow!

There are big storms coming down toward the East coast. Please be careful! it is supposed to get down to 28 degrees this week-end! Glad I have all my plants inside!

Ooops for got the photo..lol

Ashley is young, hard coming into adulthood with so much on your plate but she is indeed young enough to change!

Calling for snow Saturday but right now it's bright out, cold but not snowing...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Glenview, IL

Hi...

Just need to pop in,
Linda Kay, I am glad they caught the husband, for both of their sakes.
Will keep Ashley in my prayers to get help. Maybe now he is gone, she will find a better path.

Speaking of paths, Our's seems to still be in turmoil. Received another call from school. Breenie, is not handling this stuff to well.
The whole thing is affecting her ability to stay focused on school...She doesn't want to "rat" on the offenders.

I need to figure out how to make her understand that this is gone past harassment. And those Girls need to stop!
So, Steve and I are are going to copy txt mssgs from her phone to our e-mail. We are then going to put a block on the numbers, but most likely need to change her number all together. But they may continue in the halls of school.
I am so angry, I am shaking about this whole thing. Breenie has a hard enough time in school and WAS doing so well, at this point sh'e going backwards!

I've got the Dean, the school police and teachers now calling me, They are definately on Sabrina's side, but how do we tell a kid for her safety we have to report the issue??

OH Gosh, I got go work this anger out.
Thanks for listening.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Judy, sure wish there was something I could do to help!
Breathe deep! Count to 10...

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG, you've a right to be angry Judy! At such a tender age they can take things so personally not realizing that some kids are bullies and some not so nice! Glad you are able to download all the e-mails, that will be in Breenie's favor. Pass on a hug for me..maybe they should have the police come to the school in general and discuss bully'ing..not just physical but lots don't realize just what an impact mental bully'ing has... Drats and more drats!

Had a late lunch, just got in..nice that only 1 1/2 hrs. remains in my day!

Darlene called awhile ago and said she heard from Danie, guess she and her hubby were on the telephone and got into it, says she's too upset to travel today so will try to come tomorrow..life sure isn't easy is it..

Verona, ON

Judy, you might have to grab the bull by the horns with this problem Sabrina is having........ kids at that age just don't want to have a confrontation with another kid especially if it is in the school itself. I know it is so hard for you and Steve as you are watching your 'baby' being hurt and seeing all the positives she has made slipping away. If she won't agree to a sit down with the school officials I really think you or you and Steve should - taking along examples of the abuse Sabrina is getting.Personally after that initial meeting with school officials I would highly recommend a sit-down face to face with trained people as observers and 'guiders' for the meeting. Sabrina NEEDS to write down the things that are getting to her - even if she doesn't want to show the list to you or Steve. Having a list would help her eliminate or conquer each of the things on the list. If she picks just one thing on her list each day and tries to come to terms with how to handle or react to it her confidence will start to shoot back up. I am sorry I ranted on here but you know I love working with teens and have been a moderator in this type of situation many times. That wall to wall writhing hormone atmosphere within a school just doesn't go away but you can learn ways to handle/cope with situations as they arise.. You both love your little girl and I know you don't want to see her so upset.OK down off of my soapbox.
Lots of snow here this afternoon and will snow all night and into tomorrow. Whooo hoooo! In the winter I always keep extras of lots of food items and paper products so we don't have to tackle the lane if we don't want to.... we have a 4x4 so really are rarely snowed in completely.Hope your drive home Betty is uneventful as my DH likes to say.
Shirley, Tubby must be so proud of you - all the things that you are doing to make every day things easier for you both. You are a wonderful woman!
Laura, Barb, LK what projects are you working on now? Stacey do you get much time on your sewing machine?
Still no news on my MRI, I called the office and they said the report hadn't been forwarded to the Endo yet. Grrrrr!
Need to walk Stormy, BBL
Dianne
