Went to Barrie this morning, tunes playing, sunshine abound, made me lonesome for Florida..just got in the house, Dannie is packing me a lunch, I'm packing a few pieces of clothing and off I go to Florida to do mom's packing..will stay the week and perhaps even a few extra days, not sure, depends on my bank account..lol

Cathy came with me this morning to Barrie, had intended to purchase quite a few things..i.e. new computer desk etc. but thought 'what shall I do, what shall I do' came in, telephoned mom and off I go..just called Cathy, she doesn't drive but said, 'how do you feel about packing a bag inside of 1 hour and leave for Florida?' think I took her by surprise, she said she'd call me back in 5 minutes which she did so off we go...

Dannie is upstairs making me roast beef, ham and turkey sandwhiches and some veggies and dip for the trip..

Won't have access of computer but you know me, I'll go to the library and post so you all know I'm o.k.

Nothing like spur of the moment I say!!! wish we had snow falling, wind blowing then I'd never have decided to do this..lol

Have to stop in Barrie to change over the telephones, then on to mom's for the key and ownership of the place then off I go..

My "Florida Family" came to town today.... we visited .... I tried the new "Greek 8 layer dip" that I thought DNiece would love....She did ! veggie tray..... crab dip... then we ate ..... Rib Roast...Mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, spinach madeleine and rolls.... Everyone said the roast was fine...

Truly it was an easy dinner to fix.... most work done in advance so I could visit with the family....

we are planning a Shopping Day tomorrow... will enjoy that....

good morning all. We are in the middle of a blizzard here and no idea how long we will have power so dropping a line to say hello quickly.
WOW Betty, that is quite the impulse!!!! Have a safe and fun trip.....We will miss you but will be looking forward to your stories when you return. I hope you can contact some of the Florida ladies!!!!

I sure hope she is flying since there is that blizzard all along the east coast and I think that is the route she would take.....maybe not...but I think she was planning to drive. I know Betty has a good head on her shoulders, so if she is driving and the weather gets bad I have every faith she will pull off and find a hotel to hold up in....

Same old Betty I see. That woman is truly a marvel. She is most likely driving.

I really do not think she is flying....to get a flight booked on that short of notice, out of Canada on the day after Christmas. I really don't think that would happen, especially there are so many airports closed and cancellations because of this storm!!

Safe travels Betty! Does she even know the Carolinas, Virginia, Georgia is covered in snow, they have about 4 inches. Not her driving I worry about, it is those that haven't driven in it and finally find themselves burried.

OHHHHH and I am sure she has the GPS! lol

Debbie I don't think there are too many cornfields for her to find this time of year. That GPS of hers does funny things, I hear so I wouldn't be surprised to find her in a peanut field or something!!!!

Oh Wow.....wonder if she's planning on coming down 75....think it would be a better bet with the weather they're having on the coast....maybe she'll call me!!!!!

I hope she remembers that there is a "guest" computer in the Best Western lobby also....she might be able to use one of those for an "emergency" also.

The good thing is, she travels with her address book....so has a large number of numbers she can hopefully call if there is a problem on the way down.

Oh I sure hope Bonnie uses that common sense she is blessed with and stays put somewhere for a couple of days. When Mass says there have a state of emergency in some areas because of the storm I get worried.
Hate to say this but other than windy and cold he sun is shining.We'll get our come uppance soon enough.

The temp has gone up to 14 from 11 when I got up. Supposed to hit a high of about 24-28 today. And the wind!!!! OMG the wind just doesn't stop!!! 25-35 mph all day today. IT'S COLD!!!!!
I would have thought Betty would have driven down through Michigan and gone south from there. The whole east coast was storms and the central area was clear. Then she would swing east after she got by all the mess - I'm thinking Ark and then along the Gulf coast. to Florida. I too hope she stays at a hotel with wifi so she can keep in touch. We will all be worried until we hear from her again.....
Today is put the decorations away day. DH goes to work at 9 and I will wait until then. It's so much easier sometimes to do it by myself. We ususally end up tripping over each other when we try to do it together. I'll pack up and he can move to storage. Works for me.
Hope everyone is getting a bit of rest from all the hubbub of Christmas. Those of you with the kids at home, your turn comes Monday. I'm sure you will all be ready too!!!!
I also plan to have some sewing time this week. Probably not until Thursday as I get Sean tomorrow. Mom and Dad both have to work and by taking him for the day, it gives his older brother a break from sitting. (I can't say baby anymore!!!) He is no trouble with me but drives Brandon nuts sometimes so it's better for both of them.. Brandon is 15 and really wants to do his own thing and Sean is 10 and too young to be left alone. Oh the joys of parenthood!!!
Need to go get dressed so I can attack my day. Hope yours is a good one everybody.....Hugs to you all.

Barb, you and I will be doing the same thing. I never take the tree down until Jan. 2nd the earliest....but it is time. It has been a hard season, and with the cat also...I am just not going to deal with it anymore.

Dianne, the weather, other than bitter cold, is fine here also....as in no snow. I have heard the weekend forecast is a bit different however.

Not much sleep going on, so getting my coffee and regrouping.

Looking at what mom has or wants me to bring home, no go, too much but Cathy and I are on our way to Harbour Freight, saw a metal platform when in Buffalo that hooks to hitch..if it can fit then I can bring more back..

I'm glad to see all of the posts from everyone living in 'the blizzard zone' that's quite a lot of snow you all got. Hope everyone's everyone is ok!

Man o man, I thought it was going to slow down a tad at work this week, wrong! I was at work for 5 minutes this morning and I had a phone call, was on the phone with that person and got a message to call someone back, called them back and got a message to call someone back, it was like that all day long, but man it makes a day fly by and I love talking to people, so it's got more pros than cons.

I'm taking part, if not all, the day off tomorrow to take my car into the shop, it's having all kinds of problems, transmission isn't changing gears, or even recognizing a gear sometimes, but it's still under warranty and if it's that then that Nissan Rogue is going bye bye, it has an exhaust leak from when Dave took out a curb when I was up in Canada with Betty and visiting you all, it's got a wireless key and ignition and the ignition isn't recognizing the key sometimes which prevents me from starting the car, the digital gas gauge isn't reading right, and I broke the sunroof sometime back. Not counting the sunroof and exhaust leak, my 2008 Nissan Rogue with 82,000 miles on it is in worse shape than my 5 yr old 2001 Nissan Sentra with 110,000 miles on it when I traded it. That's pretty sad.

Crissy - how frustrating... Had my Tahoe in shop getting inspection sticker today... but at least it's gotten me about 196,000 and it's an '02... I'll drive it till it leaves me on the side of the road. At least the NIssan is under warranty.... (HUGS!)

Mary thank you....but not to be so right now. Today has been...not fun!

Guess I felt left out of the loop, and have spent since 7:30 at the doctors and just got home. I have to be at the hospital first thing in the morning for xrays. A possible broken foot/ankle! I was reading on the couch...realized I had to go to the bathroom, hopped up and took a step at the same time I realized my foot was asleep. Well, it made a major "crack" sound...and I went down sideways into DH's recliner. Sat there for a bit...regrouping...and watching my foot balloon.

I don't have a car, as the tranny in DH's new used car is kaputz..... so couldn't even have DS drive me to the doctors. I waited...DH was working late. SO finally at 5:00 I called him...he said "just heading to the shower" so I asked he by-pass the shower and head home...I had a 7;30 doctors appt to get my foot /ankle checked.

SO, while there..DH opens his mouth about my shoulder still not better also. Something is amiss with that...bicep muscle and the muscle that runs over the shoulder around the scapula area is also inflamed. Got a steroid shot in the bursa...and she said this isn't good as I need to be on crutches to keep the weight off my foot!

I am just waving the white flag...I give up! DH has taken tomorrow off and will take me to the hospital for xrays, and this also means he will be taking "the child' for her surgery on Monday depending what my xrays show Doc thinks I broke one of the two bones in my foot that are on the outside...but said it needs to rest tonight..elevate...xray in morning!

Oh Debbie, that is not good! Hope it is not broken, well you will know for sure tomorrow! Hope you have pain pills to help you sleep?

No pills yet. Tylenol and motrin alternated. It was still numb while I waas there...but that sure is wearing off.

I hope I know tomorrow. She said depending where the break is...it would be either this shoe/boot a cast...or surgery cast. She did not think it would be the surgery choice....just the shoeboot. SO I sure hope she is right.

Oh Bev, you made my day! I just LOVE cardinals...they have a very special place in my heart.

Well, the foot is broken, broken clean thru at the base of the 5th metatarsal. I have to see an orthopedic surgeon/doc tomorrow. They will either put me in a better stablized shoeboot...or put a cast on. Reason being...I am hefty...and I also have a lot of steps in my house and a huge dog. It is at a place where it seperates with every step I take...and won't heal. SO, will see what the doc says tomorrow.

DH is home with me, he had vacation to use....and on Monday is taking DD to get her wisdom teeth surgery also...so that is VERY helpful.

Shirley, how are you and Tubby doing. I am sure he is back with dialysis this week. I hope you had a nice holiday.

Bev, how are you doing? Wait til Scotty goes to sleep and get out the duct tape....we all will back you on it!

OK did Clearwater Beach this morning after Cathy and I packed the back of my vehicle to the hill..tried to attach that new cargo platform I bought and wouldn't you know the metal insert wouldn't fit through all the holes, ended up finding a metal shop and they did some grinding..got to tell you not sure what I'd have done without Cathy..talk about inch packing, even a mouse couldn't hide in my vehicle..

After Clearwater Beach we drove up to Tarpon Springs and then down to Dunedin to see where our BlueJay baseball players spend their winters practicing (?), now dropping in for a gab then off to the trailer..

Awfully cold last night, thank goodness for lost of blankets and space heater...oh/oh don't tell anyone, only cold water and we haven't had a bath /wash as yet..tried to boil water with kettle and blew all the fuses, no power, another trip to town to purchase fuses..talked to a man in the park, such an accept we couldn't understand what he was trying to tell us, finally after he came we realized he asked if we'd lifted the switch on the POLE...hydro back on..

Quite the day..

Our plans are to try and go to Busch Gardens tomorrow, then Friday morning be all packed up, go to the big Flea Market and start heading north, not that I want to because even with the cold weather it's far better than our weather but I have to go to work...

Will drop in tomorrow, for those of you on my route north could you post what the weather is like????
