Downloaded today & watching 'Lost Horizon' tonight.
1937 Frank Capra movie with Ronald Colman, Jane Wyatt and Edward Everett Horton.

Plane crash delivers a group of people to a utopia called Shangri-La.
- or are 'utopias' really all they appear to be?... ☺

Never saw that.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

It sounds familiar

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- Lots of excellent actors in it, it's been 're-mastered' and looks very good for a 1937.

Do you have a favorite source for these movies? Do you watch them on the computer or tv?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I use Vuze to pick them up and then it takes 45min to convert and burn the dvd, (through Vuze), although I've done it manually with the DVD maker included in Win7, but it takes longer. I use my backup computer on the home network to download the file, while I work on my main computer.

- this is what's on the backup's screen now..

-
Watch them on my Tv, although once it's downloaded you can watch it on the computer too by just clicking on the title.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cool - thanks. I'll have to look into it.

I saw "Lost Horizon" many times, about 15 years ago.

About halfway through the film, they had to put static screen photos in for about 3 minutes (I'm guessing), because there was no complete print of the film in existence.

Did they do a fancy edit job, or did they finally find a complete print...I'll look it up on line.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- No, there's still no complete print, luckily it's not an all out action film where you have to be glued to the set every second. There's segments in the film which break up the minutes so you can fill the gaps up intuitively
- also the soundtrack for the movie is complete from beginning to end. I found the lapses didn't have too much of an impact.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Love the oldies, the actors were really awesome. Downloading The Lady Killers now. ☺

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

If I remember it also stars a young Peter Sellers.
Try Lavander Hill Mob too

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Me too. way better acting, overall, compared to today. And, amazingly, actors did many movies per year, even at their height of popularity. Now, the 'big stars', do one per year, if that.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

tee hee

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I never watch award shows, as they are drivel, but I read about some of the barbs of the host last night and found them to be pretty funny. Offensive is fine when the targets are the phonies of Hollywood!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I doubt Gervaise will host again. He really insulted the president of the Foreign Press who sponsor the event.
How stupid is he anyway.
I dont get that kind of humor. He sounded bitter because the program he invented for England has made a great showing here and he isnt part of it.
Even Don Rickles was marginally funny.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Rock promoter Don Kirshner died.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Man they're all going.
