Singer Teena Marie died at 54.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Just saw that.
I dont remember her.
Lots aof seriously famous singers sending sympathy.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Watched Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring yesterday. One of my all time favorites. Peter Jackson did such a good job making that into a movie. Too bad he couldn't fit it all in.

Today I watched Avatar. Another big time favorite.

I loved Blazing Saddles.

Hee hee! Good taste.

Widmark was a great actor.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I saw Gulliver's Travels with Jack Black this week. Was really funny!

Don't know if I mentioned before that I saw the new remake of True Grit with Jeff Bridges as Rooster Cogburn. I didn't think I was going to like it, as I had liked the original with John Wayne so much and figured they couldn't improve on it. I wouldn't say the new one is an improvement, but they did do a very good job. It was supposed to be more true to the book it was based on. The ending in the remake was different, so I'm assuming that's how the book ended. Will not spoil it for those who want to see it but have not yet.

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's the Coen brothers, right, Karen?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Yes Coen Bros.
The best film they ever made is still Fargo.
I have True Grit on netflix rental queue

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Your right, Victor. I did not like Fargo.

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I thought it was really weird. Couldn't finish it.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

it was an ok movie for us - a bit strange

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

It was a little like watching molasses drip out of a bottle sometimes. Like a really slow 'Columbo'..

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thats dark humor for you!!!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

perfect analogy wc

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

But you were expected to find meaning in the molasses.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Loved Fargo

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Here's a guy that was in lots of shows but I never knew his name

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I cannot believe I sat through the whole move (re: Fargo). I kept thinking it might get better, but it never did.

Another movie I sat through and didn't like was one with Harrison Ford called The Mosquito Coast. Kept going from bad to worse! Normally I like Harrison Ford's movies.

Karen

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes! I remember the Mosquito Coast, I went to the theater to see it!
- boy was that bad, even attack of the killer tomatoes was better than that!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Better (worse) than Killer Tomatoes was Plan 9 from Outer Space! The ultimate B movie.

Anyone ever see the fantastic French movie, Rififi?? One of my all-time faves.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

LOL! WC.

Never saw that one, Victor.

Has anyone here seen the new Tron: Legacy movie? I loved the original Tron, and I loved this new one even more. Definitely one to go see, especially for those who like sci-fi.

Karen

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, I saw the movie The Notebook last night. Wow! I loved it. I cried at the end. Made me think of Dad.

Karen

Gerry Raferty passed away the other day. Love Stuck in the Middle with You, by him. His 80's album was good too, with Baker Street and Right Down the Line.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

heard Baker Street tonight and changed the station, never liked it

someone called tonight for a radio listening interview, I said I don't have a radio, he hung up

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Watched a cute family movie with the kids. Called Candleshoe, it starred Jodie Foster, Helen Hayes and David Niven. Was a Disney movie.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Listening to Larry Davis, Giving Up On Love right now.
Heard it on the radio when we were out west. The CD became part of a birthday present for DH with a bottle of wine and

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Haven't heard of that one, Victor.

Too bad about Gerry Raferty.

Saw 'Primer' today, Sundance Film Festival winner for drama.
(two engineers build a time machine in their basement)

-Watching 'Kiss me Kate' with Howard Keel, Kathryne Grayson & Ann Miller.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The inspiration for Band of Brothers, Richard Winters, died at 92.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Watched Knight and Day with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. I really liked it a lot... silly, corny, far fetched and just plain fun! Very little bad language, no sex scenes, a bit of violence but it was far fetched so it didn't seem real and both actors were great together.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not a fan of either one.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

My hubby HATES Tom Cruise

Finally saw " The Producers" LOVED it

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The original??

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I don't like Cruise at all. All ego.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i do not mind cruise in a movie - it is just when he is interviewed - especially by oprah!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I like him as an actor, not so much as a person.
