What took you to Mexico Katie, if that is not too personal?
Jeanette. California has so many zones and subclimates. Evelyn's weather is like yours and the season is probably about the same as yours. I bet she is in zone 2, just guessing. My zone is 8b. Hot and dry, snow here and there every few years and it usually melts in most places by the next day or two. We get cold Winters like you guys can though. We get a lot of wind here too. My weather is more like Sharon's and is about the same zone even in Sunset. They can get more Monsoon than we do in the summer. My soil here is Caleche and hard Pan, on it's own unamended.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

I have no idea who you are talking about Jnette. Are you sure you are on the right thread????LOL..

I have a very easy task of putting things away because I did not get anything out. But I promised everyone, including my neighbors I would decorate next year. We did not have our progressive dinner this Christmas but we have one plan ed for right after the new year.

We got rain during the night last night. Weekend of New Year's Eve, we are suppose to be in high 20s. That is not good.

I ended up having Christmas breakfast and two Christmas dinners. We had dinner at Tracy's at 5pm. She did prime rib and it was cooked perfectly. She is learning. Funny incident during dinner. I noticed none of the children were eating gravy with their potatoes. I asked Sarah why no gravy. She stated she really did not like gravy. I told her I made it and they all hopped up and got gravy. I guess my daughter is not a good gravy maker. LOL.

I was suppose to go to Esther Mae's for dessert at 7:30pm. Got there for dessert and they had not started to eat because daughter was doing the cooking and had never done a dinner for guests before and was totally overwhelmed. I was the youngest there except the daughter. One friend was 90, two nieces were in their mid 70s, Esther Mae is 87 and then me the young one.

I went i to the kitchen to help. Daughter and I do not really get along but that is a really long story. Anyway, we mended some bridges and did get dinner on the table. Esther Mae is a Grand 'dam of entertaining and 88 but Parkinson is what is really is getting in the way of her productivity.

So, being a friend and a daughter once removed, I began bringing in dinner with her daughter and announced, this might not be the way they do it at Buckingham Palace, but get over it and enjoy. Everyone laughed and we had a great time.

I had to slice the cake, hand shaved coconut because the daughter would not and Esther Mae could not. I watched Esther Mae out of the corner of my eye as I cut. She did not say a word but I am sure there is a "proper" way to cut and serve a cake at a formal setting. Well, not my style. Fingers and cake knife and the cake made it to the dessert plate. LOL.

I got home at 10:30pm totally stuffed. I went to bed at 11pm and did not wake un til 11am and I awoke with a booming headache. Probably from excess food because I did not have any alcohol.

Long again, but I love you all. Lee I have a story of a $20,000 German bred and trained German Sheppard that moved in to the neighborhood about 3 weeks ago. About 1 1/2 years old. I have many questions for you but I am sure this long post will put everyone, including administration to sleep. Love you all. Sharon.

Cross Post again. That is because I am to long winded.

I'm with you on the style of it. I will worry about how I serve it properly if the president comes over for dinner. Maybe.

Well it snowed all day yesterday and none of it stuck! It is incredibly cold though. We normally get a couple of cold weeks in october then it stays warm until late into january. This year though it is cold in December.
DH had an Aunt that was very formal. Everything had to be just so. I loved her dearly, but there isn't a formal bone in my body. LOL Mom even decided this year that since she could never get anyone to dress up for christmas Dinner that we should just have a pajama day, so we all stayed in pj's all day.
I am working on decluttering some things today and I need to exchange a couple of gifts that didn't fit the guys, but other than that, I am hanging out here.
If the temperatures get above 50 today, I will go out and do a few wintersowing containers, if not they will wait. LOL I am being a wimp..........
Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

JB, are you ok? Good grief, I just turned on CNN. You guys really got dumped on last night. Are you on here? The winds are something else!! How is your greenhouse? Don't you get out there and try to hold it down.

I didn't look to see. I will go back now and look at what you guys did since I was on last night.

edited by me to add: She hasn't been on here. Bet she has no computer access. Darn!! Boy, it said they got over 2 feet of snow dumped on them. And real high winds.

Sharon, any questions, just email me. I have had GS all my life. Maybe I can answer some of them.
Glad to see the rest of you all made it through the huge dinners and breakfasts. We were just the two of us, ham-potatoes-veggies- and that was it. No calls, no visitors.

Now, I will tell you about my day yesterday. Early in the morning I took Barney out before the snow came. I checked the Greenhouse, plants, etc. and took a nice walk and it was really fun. But, Barney did not poop. Around noon it started to snow a very light snow and small flakes and that is the first sign of a darn heavy snow around here. So, Barney and I went for another walk and Yes, he pooped. Now that was over so we played around in the snow awhile and came in. Then it happened. I never saw snow come down like it did all afternoon and evening. I kept the deck cleaned off so Barney could go (which at his age he does frequently) and I was tired by the end of the day. I was annoyed at my kids because I was left here alone on the farm without a shovel and they went to the Emergency Squad Bldg. and did some other things. Anyhow, they came back and went next door to his Brothers for a quick supper and I stayed home. Still no shovel only a broom. I think they do that so I do not kill myself shoveling, but it makes me crazy.
I watched TV and about 7:30 I went to take Barney out before bedtime and I could not get the door open. Snow was piled up past the doggy door and was coming in the doggie door. At least two feet of snow had blown against the door. I went to the other door and same darn thing. Could not open the door. So I had to call my kids and get them to come home and get me shoveled out so Barney could go before we went to bed.
Got that done and went to bed.
About 2 a.m. Barney had to pee. Well, same crap, different day. Both the doors were blocked again. I tried to get them open but could not so I had to call my SIL, get him out of bed to shovel so I could let the dog out. He came over laughing, I love him.
He worked for 35 minutes and got Barney out to pee. Then he went back to bed and said he was getting up at 4 A.M to shovel and plow before he went to work. He had to go to work because they had burials in the Veterans Cemetery where he works starting at 9:30 a.m.
Today began with the same thing all over again. 6:30 A.M. both doors were completely blocked again. Now I am getting tired of this crap. He got me open, I got dressed and Barney and I went outside. What a shock to see all that snow out there. The wind is the problem. It is still blowing blizzard style and since I got up I have shoveled twice in order to keep the doors open. Yes, I made them leave me a shovel before they both went to work. I have just finished shoveling again and ate some pizza , turkey noodle soup and a part of a coke and now I am sending you my daily message. I am tired but the sun is shining and the wind is still blowing. I am one cat short but she could be under the barn, which my SIL shoveled a path for her if she is...he is such a doll....and FatCat was there for breakfast.
The barnyard is plowed, the lane is open for now, but not for long. They are at work and hopefully can get back in after they are finished. My daughter is an essential worker also in the event any Horses or farm animals need to be moved etc.
She is the Equine Specialist for the State. So she gets stuck with that. We are under Emergency Regulations now and everyone has been called in.
I had moved the cat feed and water into the barn so they could eat in the dry without the snow on it. The wind switched and the place outside beside my greenhouse where they usually eat was almost bare............the plates in the barn were full of snow. Can I win????????Never.
I will spend the rest of the day making sure I can get out the darn doors. LOL
THAT IS MY STORY AND I AM STICKING TO IT.

Miles City, MT(Zone 3b)

L &L&L I just can't quit. Is now when I say "that's what I"m talking about"? JB, I am sorry that you have to go through this but I can't help but laugh. We go through this every winter. But on the serious side, please be careful, moving that snow is too much for you. Wait til the kids can do it for you, even if you have to clean up a Barney mess. Glad the kittys are OK too.
All is OK here, sun shining, but too cold to melt very much, too warm to snow more. They do say the next one will hit sometime mid week, so I suppose Jeanette will be getting it soon. My Barney is doing the look all over for Freddy thing, but I try to keep him busy to keep his mind off of it. Storm is, as usual, living up to his name. I don't know what he has transplanted in the yard, but I do know some things are not as they should be. Maybe I should send him to a nursery for a job. He does seem to be pretty good at moving things around. He just forgets to cover them back up.
So be careful JB, don't overdo it.

JB are you taking a cell phone with you when you go out there? You better!! If you get out there and can;t get the door open again you will be in one big trouble. Be sure you have some way to contact your SIL.

You should not be out there at all but I know that ain't goin' to happen. So do what you can to be safe.

We used to get that in Northern Idaho I remember when we were kids. The wind would blow that stuff into drifts so high you wouldn't even know where the road was. It really gets bad.

Be careful.

Dawn ~ I live in USDA Zone 8. Lows temps to 10°, though usually not that low. Last winter we had several days of 17°, after a heavy snowfall, for us that is...just 2', not like JB or Jeanette. We don't know when the weather will be warm or cold as the last few years have been rather unpredictable. Our first snow was November 20th here and in the spring, the last snow was in the middle of May, followed by hail the following week. So I had already put tomato plants out that I started from seed and many had to be replaced. Fortunately I put some by the fence under row cover and had plenty to spare. That is one good thing about growing from seed. I can afford to have extras.

JB ~ All I can say is WOW! That IS a LOT of SNOW! At least you have people nearby that you can call to get you unstuck. I have a friend in PA and I am not even sure she has power as I have not heard from her lately. I will try again to reach her.

Jeanette ~ How is your weather right now? They are predicting more snow for Wednesday here, but we will see. Last time we got rain for a change. Everything is muddy out there. We had no time to rake as we usually get everything cleaned up before the snow falls, but not this time. It is way too wet to rake, and between 40° and 50°, so not much incentive to try to rake an acre or two. I did, however clean up the garden a bit each day the sun shone, which was about two (days) now.

OK, gotta go now. Who has packages coming? Please d-mail me and make sure I have your address. Night, night.....

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Well JB, you got yourself a storm. You have yourself one fine set of children and their spouses. You should be proud. I would have cleared your door but I do not think I would be laughing....

We are suppose to get rain, freezing in mid 20s and our winter wind.

I worked in the house today getting everything put away that came back into the house when I cleaned out the garage. I have a bunch of washing to do but that is no big deal.

I made a pot of 13 bean soup with a ham shank. That will feed us for a few days.

Sounds like you all are having cold weather.

Please be safe, keep warm and be happy.

JB, Jnette's advise hit it right on the nose. Tracy and her family canceled their skiing trip to Park City because the news said it was brutally cold and the skiing was not fun.

Later, Sharon. Photo is Hannah on right, Sarah on left. Hats were made by their other grandmother.

Sharon, Your granddaughters are gorgeous! I was a lazy bum yesterday. I brought in the boxes to begin putting away all of the Christmas decor, but didn't touch it.
Felt icky yesterday so I took a very long nap and then couldn't get to sleep till after 2am. Then the dogs decided by 7:30 this morning that they wanted company.

JB, Your snow is gorgeous to look at, but please be careful. If you feel good, make a little snowman and send us a picture. LOL Everyone else is telling you to stay out of it so I thought I would suggest you have a little fun.

It is sunny here today, but only 27 and not supposed to get out of the 30's today. I have to get out to run some errands today even though it is cold, but then I will probably come back and beg hubby to put a fire in the wood stove. Last year it was only cold enough for a fire once. This year it is a whole different story.

Evelyn, is Grizzly flats close to shingle springs? I have a really good friend there and it looks like you may be in the same area.

Jnette, I hope you aren't getting even more snow now..........

For those of you who do get "snowed in" my heart goes out to ya. When I lived in the mountains of NC and got snowed in about 6 times in 1 winter, I told hubby I wanted to come home. We moved back to the beach 3 weeks later. We were lucky to sell the house that fast.

Gotta get busy, lots to do today. Will check on ya later.

Another Day and Life is Good!

The sun is out, the wind has slowed down and it is very cold but I was able to get the jeep out of the barn and in the sunshine so the snow on it melts. I shoveled the snow out of the barn so the sun can melt it. The truck as some snow on it but it started right up this morning so both vehicles are running, the cats are all accounted for, the dog has diarrhea but only because he held it so long, and the birds are quiet. LOL So, that makes for a good day.
I did something yesterday I just must share with you. I am really a very tolerant person most of the time, but when I get angry I usually let it all hang out sooner or later.
There is a young couple in my SILs family who I have known for years. The husband is a stupid egomaniac and a wife abuser. The wife, a daughter of a Philadelphia cop married him and they had three kids. She is his second wife. After years of abuse, both mental and physical she has finally filed for a divorce. He cut off all her income, and she works part time because of the hours the three kids are in school. They stagger and it is difficult to hold a full time worthwhile job until they are all in school or day care. Daycare is so expensive, so to make a long story short. She had no money for groceries, no heat, the furnace was not working, and we got over that and got thru Christmas thanks to her friends at Church and me and my daughter. He refused to pay child support until ordered by the Court. One thing has bothered me and that is even with the restraining order she has against him, the doors on the house did not lock and she is there with the three kids and no locked doors. He refused to fix them. He is a loose cannon and mentally unstable and I fear for her life and the welfare of the kids. So, now you know the background.
Yesterday I called her and told her to stay home, kids were with their grandparents (who have also disowned her and do not speak to her and approve of their sons actions), and I called a locksmith and told him to go make her safe, put new locks and dead bolts on the house on all doors and call me when he is done and I will pay for it. She was so happy, and he now has made her safe, and for the first time in years the doors lock .
She called this morning and said she slept like a rock, and did not need to put a chair against the door for the first time in months. I feel great today...........now I do not have to worry he will be waiting inside when she comes home from taking the kids to school or whenever. Maybe I am just an old worry wort, but I have lived a long time and watched some people completely loose it and destroy lives, I did not want to see it happen to her.
That is my story for the day. We are not going to tell anyone not even my daughter because then she will not have to lie that she does not know who paid for it. I want to protect her since it is her husbands family we are dealing with and some of them are just down right nasty. Especially the Mother of this jerk. I love helping people. makes life worth living.
Must get busy and do some office stuff, filing, getting tax stuff together, etc. If only I had more self control, I would have had this done before now. Oh well. This is a good day to stay in and do it. I have not been in the greenhouse for two days but all seems well and the temp is good. It held up under all that wind this year. Yahoo. Love you all.JB

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Now that I told you my story for today , I must take the time to respond to all your comments. Thanks for your advice, you know I am careful and will not do anything stupid.
Yes, I have a cell phone with me at all times, winter and summer, (kids insist).
The girls are beautiful and the hats are to die for. Would I love to have one of those. Wow.
I would love to be able to knit something like that. I can only knit one pearl two. LOL
I think we are all astounded at the weather changes in the past year. When I lived in NC it snowed for the first time in 15 years. That was near the coast and in the 1950s. Now they have snow almost as often as we do here in NJ. My kids live in PA and they had almost nothing. It seems the closer you are to the coast this time, the more snow you got. I am actually about 25 minutes from the Ocean if I go the back way and as the crow flies it would be maybe 20 miles..........give or take a few.........so I guess when a blizzard is blowing there are no rules as to where the line stops. LOL I thought we were inland far enough that we would have missed this baby. How wrong was I.
I see WA is due for another storm next week and I do hope you all are going to get lucky and not have too much snow. The mud slides are even scarier than the snow I think.
How horrible that must be.
O.K. I will shut up now. Take care and be safe. JB

Making the home safe for the woman and her children.is a wonderful service. Getting away from an abusive person is very difficult, especially when his family is enabling him.

I grew up in northern Michigan and can relate to all the storms. Where I am now we are enjoying the rewards of having endured our hot and humid summer.

Tony and I are both taking it fairly easy. Me more than him. A lot of his job is to help keep me on a regular schedule and connected with other people. He also wokrs hard and that's a lot of help to me but I often regard it as a bonus. We like each other a lot and I feel very lucky to have him in my life. He seems to feel the same way so it works out well.

I've been adjusting anti-depressant medication as well as dealing with minor but chronic pain from a tendon I tore months ago. I have to remind myself that these are part of the reason that I'm not burssting with energy. It's not just advanced ago (will be 70 in three weeks) and I may actually feel like tackling some of the bigger jobs later on. For now, I am content if I can get the dishes done, do the laundry and occasionally vacumn up the worst of the dust and dog harirs.

Grateful for the company here.

katie

Linda ~ We live about 30 miles from Shingle Springs, but we are in the same county. (El Dorado county) Are you feeling better now?

Sharon ~ Your granddaughters are gorgeous! (And sweet, too!) Lucky grandma!

Katie ~ I am happy to hear that you have a good person in your life to help you. I am lucky that way too now. As well I had been a single parent for many years and now I am married and live in the country. My son and I used to live in the city in apartments, and I felt it was no place to raise a child. It was difficult as I worked full time as well. I am glad that part of my life is over, though I still do cherish my son. He now lives in FL with his second wife, so I have not seen him in years, though we call each other as well as email frequently. Wow - I did not realize that we are so close in age as you seem so much younger....but when I am feeling good, I feel much younger, too!

JB ~ That was a wonderful story. I can relate to it immensely. I barely got by when I was a single parent and no child support. I am with you on helping people. It is a wonderful thing when you can see immediate results.

Jeanette ~ Are you buried in snow, too?

Dave ~ Are you having a wonderful time? We hope that you are feeling well enough to enjoy yourself. Don't overdo it, OK?

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

You guys were so busy while I was doing nothing this morning that I don't know where to start.

JB, you old witch you, you do have a warm heart. LOL, I knew there was one in there somewhere. LOL< just kidding. That was a wonderful thing to do for that lady. Altho, I think I would have bought her a gun. Then leave the locks the way they are. I love the idea of the guns that are geared to allowing only one person, her, to be able to fire it. Something to do with fingerprints. That is the smartest thing they have ever thought up.

Oh well, don't yell at me you guys.

We only got an inch and a half of snow last night, but the weather is suppose to turn cold tomorrow and then maybe a storm. I quit listening and just take it as it comes. But, I can let Lee and JB know when it is on the way.

BTW, glad you have that cell phone with you JB. Many years ago when I had to have my hip replaced, the surgeon told me to either get a cordless phone or a boy friend. (before cells). I got a cordless phone and hooked it on my belt. I was out weeding my garden one day and when I went to get up I discovered I had left my crutches on the other end of the garden. Then I turned the sprinkler on and discovered the cordless phone was lying in the middle of the garden. It had come off my belt.

Oh well, can't win them all.

It is nice to have you join us Katie.

You all have a nice day and JB, watch the snow melt and get Barney outside to do his stuff before another one hits.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Jen, I have always lived with a nice little 38 tucked away in my house. I was trained to shoot years ago by the Lancaster Police and had a permit to carry when I lived in PA.
Here in NJ is is very different. I have a permit to own my gun but not to carry it. I can take it to the range to practice but it must be locked in the back of the truck and disabled etc.
I used to have a really neat 22 Ruger but the clip held more than the number allowed in NJ so I had to give it to my son in PA to keep. He has a permit to carry but you do not want to carry that baby. I used it to practice on the range. I love to shoot. I only have one eye and therefore I had to give up shotguns when I lost sight of my rt. eye because I was a rt handed shooter. That is when I went to the handgun. I was one of two women in our County with a permit to carry back then. Women were not even on the police force at that time.

LOL That story will remain untold. . Annie Oakley had nothing on me. HA!

Love your story about the phone. So typical of stupid things we do without thinking.
I still need something to help me up when I am gardening...thank God for the garden stool you turn upside down and kneel on. I love it. Also can be a bench to sit on .......so practical. I do not know why I did not invent that. Dumb me.

Oh, today is pedicure day so I must get ready. I hope the lane is not blown shut or she will not be able to get to me.Got to go get beautified. JB

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

JB I have a 9 mill that I don't like and never learned to shoot. I want to trade it for something else. Maybe a 38 would be a good one?

My mom sent all of us girls to learn to shoot when we were very young 'cause my uncle had a ranch in Montana and was always taking us girls out hunting. Or wanted to. So before she would let us go hunting, she wanted us to know how to be safe with guns. To this day I hate to be around anyone with a gun. I am always watching to see which way it is pointed.

The Elks gave shooting lessons to us and my sister who was in highschool won all the shooting meets they took the team to compete. Even the boys. I was only 12 or 13 so not on the team. Doubt I would do much now. I hate the thought of killing an animal now, but don't know if I would hesitate on a person if I had to. Probably.

That is why the fingerprint idea sounds so good to me, so the other person could not take it away from her and use it on her. I know what you mean, but not everyone is Annie Oakley. Very few in fact.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

We had a rifle team in school which I was on. God I had forgotten about that. I remember now how we used to practice and I was looked down upon because I was a girl. Hmmmmm guess I showed them. My grandfather taught me to shoot when I was just little. He cut the stock off one of his 22 rifles and that is what I shot. I was so small I put it under my arm to sight it up. LOL
I was always o.k. with killing the small game we shot to eat. I never shot anything we did not eat, so I was not into just shooting for the heck of it. I never could shoot a deer. They look at you with those eyes and even if we were eating it, I just could not do it. It is called Buck Fever. Oh well, anyone can hit the side of a deer, right! Except you need to shoot near the front in order to give an immediate kill. I hate when they do not kill them outright.

I also used to shoot clay birds because we practiced at home with them. We had a neighbor who had a lot of pigeons on his barn and they were making him upset because there were so many and they made such a mess. He used to give me 1 cent a bird for each one I shot and killed, plus I got to keep them and we would eat them. Since I used 22 shorts they did not mess up the bird. Not much meat on a squab but they are good. No kid today would have survived when I was a kid. LOL

My kids were raised with guns also and we all have a great deal of respect for them. All are locked up in cases in places where they can not be seen by anyone. All are unloaded and some are not even assembled. I get crazy when I see these kids on TV shooting other kids. It is so sad to blame it all on the guns. It is the people who shoot the guns that kill others. I guess we best not get into that discussion.

Anyhow, I am sorry we can not do some shooting together. I still love to shoot. As for shooting a human..........we were taught if we had to draw the gun, you shoot to kill. I had a problem with that, but if the other person has a gun, then yes, but if they are running away or have a knife, I would rather just shoot them in the leg or arm. I am still not sure I could kill a human being. That is just not my style. The guys in firearms school used to tease me about being a softy, but then again, one time someone was trying to break in my mud room door of my farm about 6 years ago , before I moved here. 3 a.m. and they were really going at it. I figured I had to do something in the event they broke it in and hurt Barney, so I got the 38, called 911 and told the State Police I was going to shoot anyone who came thru the door and I wanted them to stay on the line. They intruder gave up when the first door did not open and they left. The dog was really helpful but I was afraid they would shoot him. Had they done that then I have no problem with shooting them after they were inside. The police stayed on the phone and ask me if I wanted them to come out. I told them no, we were o.k. and that was the end of that. You just never know what you will do if you must. Home invasions are very popular these days and the people doing it do not usually pick people who are armed. They know because they watch for days before they break in. That is what I worry about because we are on a main road but the house can not be seen from the road. There is also a back entrance from another farm. We have an alarm system on both entrances just in case. New Jersey is not the safest place to live. LOL...but if you can live here you can live anywhere.
That is another story. I bet you wish I would shut up. I am bored and need to plant something soon or I will shoot the dog. LOL Just kidding.

The real storm is supposed to be here tomorrow, I am not looking forward to it one tiny little bit. At least, we don't have to drive. It has been upper 30's in the daytime, but they say it will get colder as the weekend comes, down to -8 on NYD. Burrrrrrr!! Thanks Jeanette

JB, you are a hoot. My bothers and father hunted and shot anything they could. But anything they brought home, mother cooked and made it taste good. For some strange reason, I was never taught to shoot. My father probably worried I would shoot him. But as JB said, long story.

We have a big storm coming into the valley tonight. Rain tonight, light snow tomorrow night and high temperature on Friday suppose to be 35. OMG. I do not know where to start.

Thanks for all the great comments on the girls. They are both 5'10" and wear size 10 shoes. Tall and slender.

JB, I will see what I can do about one of those hats.

I will keep in touch because I probably will not be outside much.

Morning, I am off to the chiropractor, store and garage to see why my jeep will not go into 4 wheel drive. Of all times for it to be difficult. LOL
Talk later. Nice temp here today, no wind, a bit cloudy and many people a few miles up the road are still snowed in. They are really having a problem getting control of this amount of snow.
Hold on there Sharon, just do what yo can and the rest will just have to be left to survive the wrath of Mother Nature. Later. JB

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

JB that is some snow. That would scare me and I would feel claustrophoebic. It is weird, but in the area where we live it is a valley. You can see hundreds of miles in some directions and 60 or so in others. It would feel so isolating to be in a white blanket, and trapped. I know everything most anyone gets used to, but on this end. It would be freaky for me for a while I assure you.

Evelyn I am so sorry I have not responded on time. I am in the DG directory but I have the week off and was out raking my leaves finally and then left to go with my friend to small claims court and to the mall and we ate out. I got back late and my h and I just put movies on to watch on netflicks, but it said we needed to update the driver so that took all night and we never watched a movie because it was after 11. He had to work.

It is raining here again. I am staying home and watching movies he does not like to watch. I washed both dogs and put medicine in the foster guys ears. That is my job for the day. Oh made french toast. My eating days are drawing to a close on the First except for my birthday. We are going to the beach a couple days before my birthday and going to the warf in Ventura to eat sea food. That is the last bad fling. I celebrated too long already.

I think one day they are going to come to homes and do like they did in Europe and comfiscate peoples guns. If you own them I would not talk about it openly. I run a tad paranoid from too many conspiracy shows and History channel.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Helln, believe me, the gun laws in NJ are so strick, the only people who misuse them are the ones on the street that are not legal. You can not even buy a gun in NJ without fingerprints and license to purchase one. But, that does not stop the street gangs from selling and using out of state acquired guns. In PA you have no problem buying guns. At the gun shows they sell all kinds. It is disgusting.

Let me know when it is diet time and I will join you. Must go for now. Hugs. JB I will be back.

Dawn ~ I am sorry, I do not know where the directory is or how to use it. I may be out of contact for a while as my ISP's email client is not functioning properly, so I will be downloading software and on "chat" with them. It will take a long time. I tried it last night and I got disconnected. then they closed the chat line. Just as well, since it was getting late. I do not do well staring at the computer screen for hours at a time. It is not good for most people, but moreso for me. I get eyestrain, watery eyes, due to less blinking, and headaches if I am at it too long. I would rather be starting seeds, taking a nap, reading, or even cleaning something out, but this must be done.

So others, I will get back later, once this chore has been completed. Hopefully it won't take a long time, but most of these "sessions" with ISP are usually longer than I care to think about, so I will stop thinking about it, and get to it.

Later.

Hi everyone, I have been busy today discussing Holiday Cacti on another group. We have decided to open a thread of Mid Atlantic Gardening Forum called Holiday Cacti General Discussion and hopefully we can all help each other learn and enjoy our Holiday Cacti.
I am sure there will be lots of questions we need answers to, so please , if you have any Christmas, Thanksgiving or Easter Cactus information, share it with us on the Thread.
Time to eat , yes, cocktail time too. Yahoo. JB

Oh crap, I lost my whole post!!! Gr&%%*&&) DARN!!!

Well, I will send it thru my brainwaves for anyone who cares.

What I was saying when this thing so rudely wiped me off the site, was to Sharon, if nothing else works, I would settle for a copy of the pattern for the hats and I might even knit one for JB. And then my evil thoughts made it go away!!

I also said that we got a new foot of snow and then it is suppose to be in the sub-zeros at night and the highs are suppose to be in the low teens for the next several days. So, here it comes Lee and JB!!

JB, did you get your Jeep fixed? What was wrong with it?

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Jeep is fine, the 4 wheel drive thingy was just stuck because I had not used it for a year. LOL
The weather report says that storm will be rain when it gets here this weekend. Our temps are going up and today it was 40 deg but not here. In Phila. PA.....maybe but not here. It was nice because the wind stopped. We saw some melting but there are lots of people who are still snowed in.
Back to my TV show. See you all tomorrow. JB

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

It has been raining all night and now day, but it has turned into snow, then hail, then more snow. Then...it stopped and we had a bit of sunshine, as it is almost sunset now. A lot of snow has melted, so pretty messy out there. Also it is supposed to be in the 20's tonight. (BRRR...) OK, we have everything in place and Steve has the wood stove going, as the propane furnace is not enough when it gets really cold.

Back, later, maybe tomorrow. Must attend to the internet thing.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Yeah that is what they told us too JB. Believe it when you see it. They always have time to change it. We are not suppose to be getting any more snow until next Wednesday!! But it is going to be cold. Below zero at nights and low teens and single digits in the highs.

Glad Bob has wood for that furnace. I love the wood heat.

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

Yes, the wood stove is great!
