Today's Weather in your Garden - 84

- Some DG members got some pics of the eclipse last night...

Victor, I'm surprised you didn't see the eclipse when you were "out and about" last night!
(Dracula the Vampire was also "Vlad the Impaler"; do you have a deep, dark secret past?)
;)
Many pasts. ^_^
Reached a high of 32 today, but the wind was crazy cold......am watching very golden tree branches as the sun begins to set on the winter solstice........
WC - I enjoyed reading your post describing your feelings being outside looking for the eclipse last night. You are very expressive in words as well as in photos. Nice quality! I didn't get up to see the eclipse, but we saw a beautiful sight around 7ish this morning at the River. The full moon was just sinking down to the horizon over the river; the river was a shimmering pink color and glass-like; I would have given anything for a camera - at the same moment, a pelican flew in front of the moon as a pod of 5 dolphins were gently rolling in the foreground. It was magical. I tried to catch a shot of one of the dolphins rolling with my phone camera, but I don't think I timed it right to see one. I haven't transferred the shots to my computer to see the detail, but I could tell the pink didn't show up on the camera. Bummed.
Wow - dolphins and pelicans! Sounds like a cool 'trip'!!
It sure was! This afternoon when we walked there were manatees in the same area. Our friend was sitting on her tree swing (in her riverfront yard) watching them when we came by. Her son-in-law was fishing from their dock and he said he and his nephews had caught 30 fish today from the dock - mostly lady fish and a couple of trout. Must be the full moon bringing everything out. This is what we come down here for.
What's the bait for lady fish???
I don't know if he was using saltwater lures or not. We used to use live shrimp, but I see most people using various lures.
I figured shiny things. Works for every species.
Works for me! LOL
Thanks Louise, I visited Hemingway's house once when I lived down there, I must have picked up some good karma! (lol!)
- That's an awesome scene you described, too bad there was no camera at the time, I miss a lot of great shots too because I decide not to lug around my big DSLR.
Do you now have an extra finger too, WC??
...yes victor, and I'm giving it to you right now...
LOL!!! (jk)
I was expecting that when I hit 'enter'! (I can play straight too!)
Whoa!!

Estimates of 17 feet, yes FEET, of snow in the southern Sierra Nevada of California since last Friday."
I'd love to visit those mts in good weather one day, they're so majestic when you see them from far away.
Louise, that scene you described was beautiful.....hard to capture something like that with a camera, the colors & the animals both. I saw an eagle over the dam yesterday, thought that was pretty nice, but not as awesome as yours!
32° with a windchill of 18°, wind from the NNW at 15mph, Humidity is at 63% and I've got clear skies.
- Expected to cloud up here thoughout the day, possiblity of light snow later for this evening. Today's predicted high is 38° here.
Just looked, the winds have died down a little and they changed them to 15-25mph now. Still could loose power if this snow gets heavier, it's up to 32 now....our high for the day!
Ugh, Celeste. Very large storm will come close on Sunday.
27 and clear.
Nice flake effect, all pretty!
- looks icy up there, like in a freezer!
It looks very pretty, Pixie, but I don't want it here! Hope Sun. storm will miss us....I need good traveling weather to get to NH next week! It's 32 here, but the wind chill is much lower.
I wish I could have captured that scene for you all, and better yet, I wish you had been here to see it for yourselves. So pretty. I love it when the river is pink in the early morning.
Seeing an eagle soar over the dam must have been awesome, Marilyn.
Wowzer on the snow!! Don't kill me.....I'm missing it. But I'd be happy to see only one pretty tree-sticker, then I'd get on back down here.
What a great day today, only a slight breeze sunny and 39° felt like 50
Snowed all day.......I have to admit it's pretty.
Turned very cloudy, with a sharp wind......
STILL SNOWING!!!!!!
Oh it's white here!!
Feeling better Sherrie?
