Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee! Check out this British newspaper article from 2000, in light of their current weather.

First time in over 450 years that there will be a lunar eclipse on winter solstice.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

pretty chilly out there today

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not sure if it's visible from here.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Okay, it is. But I'll not be up!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

31° here, wind is from the NW at 18 mph, windchill of 16°, and it's partly sunny.
- going up to 38 here today, remaining partly sunny throughout the day, clear tonight with temps about 23°

Late for me too, I may not be sleeping at that time but the thought of being outside, in the middle of the night, in 23° weather just doesn't appeal to me at the moment.
- but then who knows... I still have plenty of time to change my mind. ☺

South Hamilton, MA

I want to say Merry Christmas to everyone now as I am having computer probles & running on a temporary program. I figured that everyone turns to the weather.

I won't stay up as I have seen them before, albeit not on a winter solstice. Light snow here so there will be clouds.

Thomaston, CT

Merry Christmas to you, Lucy! Hope the computer troubles get fixed soon. Just came back from my walk...high was 31, & it was breezy, but kind of nice walking....I'm a wee bit tired after spending the day with 1st graders!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I'd love to stay up for that, I'll try....

Wind has picked up here makes it so much colder.
33° but wind chill is 22°

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

hmmmm, a day trying to keep first graders in the classroom (never mind in their seats!) right before Christmas......ummmm, yeah....I'd guess you'll be having a bowl of soup and crashing!! :)

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Well I woke up at 2:15am, got ready and was out the door at 2:30. Not a sign of the moon, too overcast. I went back in, but I stubbornly went out again 10min later, just to make sure. Dark, wind at 18.1 mph from the North with a windchill of 10.1°. I suddenly felt as if I was witnessing something special even though I couldn't see it. A sort of satisfaction came over me, the satisfaction you get when you know you did everything you could and now it was out of you hands. I felt a sense of accomplishment, contentment, I didn't let myself down, I didnt miss anything. - I was happy that I had tried and I was there.

Going back to bed now, only 2hrs before I have to get up again and start the day. It was beautiful and wondrous out there, even without a moon to see by. ☺

East Bridgewater, MA

Tuesday, December 21st:

Happy winter solstice, not just to Druid types, but to every one !!!

The days will start getting longer, the sun will start getting stronger, and in just a short 3 months it will be time to start our seed trays under a light !!!

Hang in there !!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Nothing to see here either ..... the storm has started.
I like that last part B.A. , have been looking at my seeds lately. ^_^

It is 30 degree's and snowing at the moment.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

The southern part of the State got snow last night, it started at the worst time of the day...commute time! No plows were out and it came down quickly, next thing you know there were car accidents every where. At one point thery had it on the news not to go down a certain street as there were 17 cars piled up!!!! Staying home today I thnk!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that's not good Celeste ... do stay home!!!..... windy windy windy here... 27 and going to 35... with that wind it won't feel anywhere close to those numbers

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

First measurable snow here. Not a big dump so I am thankful for that at least. About two inches so far and it is still snowing. It will make things pretty though and I do not have to go out in it except to feed the birds, so I should not complain. Specially when so many others have a lot more and some have lost power to add to the misery. Hope you all are well. Temp here is 24 degrees now and considering the big storm off the coast the wind is pretty light from the NNW. The solstice is good thing, we are on the way back to spring, yeah! Still looking out the window today, seems a very long way off I'm afraid.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Felt even more wondrous sleeping!

29 and windy. They're talking about some snow later in the day on Christmas.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

... that you can do any day. lol!

30° windchill at 9°, wind from the North at 26 mph and it's partly sunny on this beautiful Tuesday morning!
- Well the clouds broke up some since last night but the winds have increased to give us bitter windchills, breaking out the flannel pants early this season!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I dreamed about the eclipse!

I have seen some nice ones in the past.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

you saw it 450 years ago? :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - in my Renaissance days.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Victor the VIII ?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The Terrible.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

figures...

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

♫I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.♪

Cold this morn, but not as cold as some

Thomaston, CT

It's 25 here, but the wind is nasty! Thanks, Pixie, about the snow news....when I last talked to my stepson, he said they would only get a dusting! Hope he makes it up to Scarborough safely!

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

Since we are dreaming, I'll say it is 80 degrees and sunny in WNY. Oh, gotta wake up and realize it is December 21. Reality is that it is a partly sunny 23 degrees heading for the upper 20's in WNY today.
