Today's Weather in your Garden - 84

Thomaston, CT

Funny story, Corinne! I also had garbage night last night....went out twice more to carry trash cans back up to road because they had blown all the way back down to garage......usually pick up is around 6.....garbage still not picked up! Sunny, 21, and is that wind I hear? Oh yeah, I've had it already, too! Our temps, Jo, should be in the 40's....it will seem like Paradise.....

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

We should be in the 80's by Monday! (lol)

27° windchill 12° wind from the West at 21 mph, humidity down a little to 62%, we have partly sunny skies and our visibility is 10 miles.
Expecting sunny skies today with a high of 33° windchill around 19°, going back down to 24° tonight. Black ice is definitely something to watch out for here.

WC - I want to drink whatever you're drinking.

"Where's mine?"

(Beverage mentioned above.)

(Decades ago, a respected journalist said that the above phrase should be the motto for politicians in Chicago).

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Ha! Good one.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Official snow total for my area is 17 inches, much higher drifts and it is already getting heavy and crusty to move out of the way. Sun is out in force, but does not seem to make it any warmer to be outside. Bright blue sky, white snow still sticking to everything despite the wind blowing from the north, making it even colder on the skin, when I went to feed the birds just now. Temp is a booming 28 degrees. Temps are supposed to climb a little every day through saturday after today and tonight, sounds good to me.

East Bridgewater, MA

They're talking about 40-degree highs for the next several days, so the driveways and roads should be ok.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

pat they do not plow very good over here in attleboro

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

nor here this year. The roads are a mess. I went to work this morning but the parking lot wasn't plowed. Ended up being a 2 1/2 hour trip to bring Jack a cup of coffee and appreciate the Subaru.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

35 and partly sunny. Roads are melting. Will be a problem when they re-freeze.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Some of you have prob. heard of Sugarloaf Mt. USA which is located here in Maine. Well the wind gust today have derailed 3 chairs on the lift and sent 6 people to fall 25-30 feet. They said they have injuries but none life-threatening, thank goodness. Now they have to figure out a way to get the other 100 people who are still stuck on the lift, down. It's 8 degree's on that lift with whipping winds....

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i saw that on boston.com - wonder what trail it was on - i know the very steap one on the left of the mtn. has an exposed lift. would know the trail name if i heard it, has an almost vertical drop - lots of turning to get down.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

So sorry to all who have lived through this snow storm on the east coast.

Currently 28 degrees with light snow in WNY. Heading for 29 degrees today. A warm up has begun and by Saturday we could see temperatures near 50. Wheeee! That's the weather roller coaster we are riding.

Have a blessed and terrific Tuesday, folks.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Still windy here but not the crazy gusts we had....
35°

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Bill, it was is known as Spillway Longside or Spillway East that derailed this morning.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh yeah...19.2" of snow

Saw that on my homepage about the ski lift...CRAZY...that's why I don't like anything like that that hangs from a cable

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

different lift than i am thinking of - must have been pretty scary to fall off from that high! glad everyone appears like they will survive.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Bill you can all access Sluice Headwall Trail from that lift.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i think the trail i was thinking of was haul back or riptide. it has been a while since i skied there or anywhere - cindy snowplows down bunny trails and does not like cold - so that did not go with me, bump trails and steep runs - was not a great or bad skier just like the action.

Thomaston, CT

Hope those skiers will be OK....I'm sure there were kids among them. Temp is 32, mostly cloudy, not much wind! Driveway has melted, so of course will be glare ice tomorrow morn....

Thomaston, CT

I'm with Cindy!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

As I was shoveling, I hit something. It was a hand, like some creepy CSI episode.........

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Sweet little find. DH used the big snow blower, so I did no shoveling this time. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's a sign, Weeze. Watch your back!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

hey, that IS 'kinda creepy... -wonderful shot though!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Kind of like Alfred Hitchcock meets Mr. Bill.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

28 and breezy. Calling for 30° tomorrow. Hope those skiiers will be ok as reported.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

the Wyoming? ski accident was awful where the snowboarder hit a woman and child, the snowboarder and child died, the mom in critical condition
that's why I'm not crazy about skiing anymore, and like the blue or green hills best

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

very creepy Weeze.... and at least you didn't hit it with the snowblower... LOL

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Yes, it would have been shredded Bill Hitchcock. Oh No........

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Got a call from the mayor, our official count is 34 inches. He almost apologized for the lack of plowing of the tertiary roads. Can hear the dripping of melting snow currently. Good sign for the drive to work.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- City owned SUV, they didn't care.. (they would have shot them for that in the Bronx, lol!).

You got a personal call from the mayor? ...almost apologizing to you because he didn't plow your street?
Jezz! - you must be the Governor!!

WINTER POEM

It's winter in Maine
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
... At fifteen below.

Oh, how I love Maine
When the snow's up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.

Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave Maine
I'm frozen to the freakin'' ground!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It won't stop us from going up in late January/early February, Celeste. Last year when we went up in early February we were sitting by the beach in the sunshine with merely a trace of snow while there was a blizzard on Long Island.

We do love Maine!

33° wind from the NW at 6 mph, humidity steady at 67 percent and it's cloudy out here.

Feels warmer today, less wind. Going up to 35° with clearing skies, then back down to 19° tonight.
