(((HUGS))) Linda Kay..... Thank you and you stay warm as well ! :)
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
Good niters Linda Kay!
Sleep well, and welcome back on the puter...
Debbie, Yep Was thinking about your Carrie, sorry i didn't get back to say happy happy Birthday to her!
..my gosh, please do be careful should you keep the aapt. Yikes on your weather!
It's frigid here, only about 19, thank goodness too cold to snow.
Mary, boohoo, my kids kinda announced they didn't want to decorate tree this year!! Yikes, little do they know, they'll change their mind as soon as dad get it up. Who could resist afterall their tearful ma handing 'em a box of their childhood ornaments, Plus, this year, i am gifting them each with a new one, (been a long time)
...I do remember you having a bad memory from last year. Awe, but this years decorating sounded fun, good for you...May you all Heal with love...And how did Belle fare with the decorating?
Well, as said, played taxi, then took Jake Christmas shopping too, lol needless to say, Im exhausted.
so this owl got to get to snoozing.
Sleep well my friends, snuggle warm,
Morning all, wow talk about cold, just a skim of snow but the wind is up so have to watch for squals on my way in. Not sure if today is going to be our Christmas luncheon as Paul is in and most are finished at least in Barrie office this Friday..soo looking forward to it.
Came home last night aching so hot bath and bed. Darlene called and said as she and the girls all have finished their painting projects needed for Christmas that they'd skip today but all come Monday seeing as I'm home for a luncheon and asked if I thought we could do jewelery as a treat so next few days I'll have to find time to go shopping for supplies.
She then told me that Dannie is expected to leave Montreal early Friday morning and should be here by late afternoon but was going to the record recording studio with the boys to do the last of their cd taping, will be interesting to see how that goes. She was telling Darlene how spoilt I'll be, home cooked meals to come home to,she'll clean house and do any chore that needs done, heck, what will I do to keep me entertained??
Judy love all the photo's, lordy your kids have grown over these past 5-6 years..they tower over you and soon if Steve doesn't watch it they'll surpass him. Cake is too cute, bet she loved it..ahhh 21, would any of you want to go there again? think I'll pass!!!
Have the special ornament for my 2010 Christmas in memory of Roger, waiting for family to be here Christmas Eve to put it on. Your kids Judy will get into the festive season I'm sure...
Ohhh you look so at home with the baby, won't be long before one is calling you grandma..nope, not this year but it's a coming..
Mary, do remember last year, let's hope this year you all get to enjoy all that Christmas has to offer, no trauma, just good old fashion fun.
Debbie, was a rough ride home last night with the snow and wind, kept asking myself why I was on the road, think a lot of it was being in pain but don't you do same and go out in bad weather, am sure you can reschedule in the New Year.
Hope you rested well LindaKay, nice to see you are still able to communicate with us .. hate to not be in touch with friends!
Well, have a few things to do this morning before leaving and do want to leave that little bit extra to compensate for the weather..
Be back though, took a few photo's on my way to work yesterday for you southerners just to show what a winter wonderland we have..now where did I put the camera?
Maybe I'll have coffee, boo hoo no sweets, anybody have any?
Judy what a beautiful cake. And looks like the kids had a great time.
Betty be careful out there.
Still have applesauce and cranberry cake.
Hope Y'all have a great Day...be safe in the snow, and stay warm!! very cold here computer saying it is 26 very cold for central florida brrrrrrr...... Y'all are waking up, and here I am getting ready to go to bed.....
Please Please be careful and safe driving in the snow....
Goodmorning Everyone!
I started this last night, but I bumped something and lost it all, so went to bed instead. Hate when that happens.
Betty, I just love your knitting machine. It is so interesting. I'd love to watch it work. You take it easy out there today. It is to be cold, but no snow.
Debbie, God Bless you and we are there for you in spirit and thoughts. It's hard to loose someone that way. One had to tell themselves that they are in good hands, and He wanted them home with him for Christmas. Thank goodness for memories that will help you at this time and always.
The cake is darling! Glad a good time by all. The pic is great.
Well, Tubby made it though all his procedures yesterday. They will start dialysis on Wed. The gal from there called and left a partial message, so will talk to her today. It'll be 5=7 days before we get all the results of the labs and pathology report. I just hope it helps makes him feel better. They want us to go back to the Med Center to see the specialist there, but thought that Tubby would neverr be able to have a stem cell transplant or clinical trials because of the Nocardia he had. Not what we wanted to hear, but oh well we may surprise them all. He is a fighter.
I'll have to get ready for work soon. My DM is here to stay with him today. Was to work Wed., but may not be able to if he has to go to dialysis. We'll see how he handles it.
Wouldn't it be fun to have a cookie exchange together and have coffee and sit around and chat in person with you all? We would probably eat all the cookies and go home empty handed.LOL I'll thinnk of you all when I try to do some baking. Tubby has a reciepe for Pumpkin Choc Chip cookies that are moist and delicious.
Rattled on long enough and will check in today when I get home from work. Have a wonderful day to all and drive careful out there. God Bless & keep you.
T&S
Shirley, will Tubby have to go to the hospital for the dialysis or is it something you'll be able to do at home? You hear so often the battle about stem research, what are your thoughts on it? Heartwarming to see you've taken time to update us..thanks Shirley, know your life is hectic and worrysome right now, know we appreciate it. Come spring we'll have to do the cookie swap, I can always mail mine on your side of the border, but first have to learn how to make cookies, mine are always soooo hard!
Photo from yesterday's winter wonderland
Thunder, are you on the midnight shift?? Lordy, if it gets much colder you'll be having snow..Weather is really crazy this year, just have to listen to what's going on in Europe and here in North America, someone must have p*&&^ed mother Nature off!!!
Laura, thanks for the sweets, you up early trying to finish off those quilts?
Looking at the clock, another 1/2 hr. and I should be able to call Kyle and wish him a Happy 15th Birthday!
In the meantime am working on a pair of wooden skates, maybe tonight if I don't hit the bed first I'll finish them...ahhhh t.v. bingo tonight, should play, one never knows, could still win that $2,600 jackpot right?
Shirley for dialysis will you have to drive? I know some people down here that go 3 times a week and it is an outpatient center and they have a van.
Tubby share your pumpkin choc chip cookies recipe it sounds good.
Betty winter wonderland for sure. That picture is amazing. How deep is the snow???
Yes still trying to finish quilts............
Drats and more drats, called Kyle to see if he heard our area cancelled school buses (they did) and wished him a happy birthday..been sitting waiting to see if I'd get a 'snowday' call but no go!!! Now that's a drats...
Started the car, leave a little earlier and brave this storm...
Gab later
Happy Birthday Kyle! Hope you have a wonderful day! There are a lot of Birthday here lately!
Drive careful Betty!
My computer is working again, not for sure what was wrong with it??? But my sewing machine froze up on me yesterday, so I had to wait for hubby to get home from work, had a quick sandwhich for dinner, then off to drive an hour to the Uvalde Wal Mart to get another one! I bought a Brother SQ9000.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Brother-80-Stitch-Sewing-Machine/14237606
I stayed up late last night reading the book, now I get to play with it this morning!
Drive carefully Betty - I know you will! Did you read where 300 people in 360 cars have been stranded on the 402 since Monday? There were also some stranded at the local Timmy's. Guess they are the lucky ones as they have heat, bathroom facilities and the Timmy's crew can't go home either so are feeding everyone in the store.
Tree is up but not decorated. We always let the critters have 24 hours to check it out. Streak made a beeline for the tree once it was up.Hope he didn't sneak on here and see Axel's shenanigans!
We both have emergency dental appointments today - oh joy! More than anything I hope Doc can help my DH get out of pain. The poor guy has been suffering head/ear/throat and eye aches for more than 2 mon. When DH asks for a pain killer you KNOW he is in pain.Doc pulled 1 of DH's teeth last week but it seems a piece of bone has worked its way up and come through the gum.
Judy I loved seeing the pics of your family.Decorating the tree can be such fun if you let yourself enjoy the moment. We really enjoy decorating both our real tree and the Victorian feather trees we have. For the feather trees I have ornaments that I have collected from various artisans that we did shows with over the years. It makes me smile when I bring out each ornament and remember the person who made it.
BBL
Dianne
Just got here, all I can say is 'that was fun!' NOT...
Suzanne and I are here, girls called in and said they were running late, was so sure 1/2 way here I'd get a call to turn around, that's how bad it is...
Dianne, BIL is in London, truck bound..police told them that farmers were trying to come out and rescue who they can, army coming out to help..main thing is they are telling everyone if they can to shut one car and all get in one and cuddle in, if that one runs out of gas, back to the other car..they'll try to get gas out to them..calling for high winds and more snow so with the plows off the road because they cannot see it's a very dangerous situation.
You and hubby aren't taking the roads today are you? Perhaps you are not in this blizzard zone..looking outside and cannot see a thing..
Linda Kay maybe your computer just needed a rest..lucky/lucky you, new sewing machine..off to check the link..omg what treasures you'll be able to make, isn't early gifts from SANTA grand!
Well, I am madder than a wet hen.....or so mad I could spit nickels as my Mom used to say.
Left home at 7:00a.m. this morning to head to Rochester. Roads were so bad, we got to his "8:00" appt. at 8:30!! Anyway, we were in and out in 10 minutes! I had to rush back home.....he had to get to school for a 10:30 class or he would be in trouble! Well, we pull up in front of school...nobody there! It was closed! I had my radio on when alarm went off...radio in the kitchen...and then the entire trip in the van! Not one mention of school closings! OH WAIT...it did say "check our website for school closings" Well..hello...I am in a car, how can I do that? Grrrrrrr!
Sorry, had to get that out. Shannon had her last college class last night, she is officially home for a month. Mike is here. And now Shane. I am telling you...I am going to start drinking! Perhaps a little Irish Coffee. lol
You have all been so busy this morning! Dang!
Happy Birthday Kyle! Have a great day, and enjoy yourself.
I need coffee....be back
Debbie
Go have one for you and one for me Debbie, lordy, think some of us ought to get together and tie one on..might be just what we need!
Well with everyone home before Christmas Debbie, less work for you right? they can all help!!! ok so I'll pour you another drink.
Paul just called, no mention of the storm outside but he did have one good thing to say..hired a lady for our Peterborough office and here's what he said
"she reminds me a lot of you Betty, very gracious with the public, on top of things, always smilling" ok...is that a compliment?
lol
Yes Betty, that is a very big compliment! And it is true.
I do not want these kids here all day. They are so dang lazy...they drive me crazy. You ask them to help do something, and they want "why, where, when....why can't he do it" until I get so upset....it doesn't get done and I just don't care anymore. Yeah....about that drink!
I shouldn't complain, Just wish I had some support/back up from DH...but he has a major issue with confrontations even of the parental kind.
Well Debbie, get everything that needs to be done listed on a piece of paper and have them pick a chore, then tell them you are being quite truthful in saying you cannot handle anything anymore, IF that item is not done and within your time frame there will absolutely be one gift less for them and one more for the individual who completed their task and is willing to take on the unfinished one....let them know it's no longer a fighting issue, do or don't...it's up to them..but stick with it gal or you'll not get anywhere..
Betty, tell Kyle Happy Birthday from me too!!! I work 2-11pm. then I am up most of the night..get to bed around 5-6 am, sleep till 11-12noon...get up and get ready for work....
BE SAFE
Guess Thunder if you are on a regular shift all the time your body adjusts to different sleep times!
Will tell Kyle you all send regards..
Starting to snow and blow, counting the hours...
What are you working on Betty?
scratch art...hummingbird drinking out of a flower
And you do these free hand?
have a sketch to help me along, easy/relaxing
That is one thing I am not able to do is draw.My oldest DDcan and very well.
Most of us never try...you should get a sketch book and just play..so cold out there, snowing and blowing, 45 more minutes...terrible to be sitting here clock watching.
Please drive home safely Betty! Post when you get home please?
Needed my wits driving home but made it safely. Ann came over , nope, didn't win the jackpot! Had a lovely talk with Ann and now I'm off to bed!
Good Lord willing we'll gab tomorrow
hello all - sorry I've been away - gone to Edmonton for the weekend, and work during day, meetings at night..... I've been working on my DM's Christmas quilt too.....
Hope you all know how much I love you all........... I may be MIA but you're not forgotten
Been a sad time - Dec 12 is anniversary of my Dad's passing. Been a lot of years, but you never forget............
I'd best get back to working on my Mom's Christmas quilt......
Haven't decorated a tree (lent one to work, now need to get a real tree for US).
Only have my Mom's present and one for Bob, for Christmas. Don't get paid until Christmas Eve...... siiiiiigh and working until Noon, or 1pm, so should be "interesting" getting a present for my DH......
(((Susan))) You are right, you never get over those anniversary days. Such a hard time of grief around the holidays. I lost my younger cousin, at the age of 19 on Dec. 17...we were only a year apart. I have never forgotten...and it still hurts so badly. We all love you....sending hugs, lots of hugs!
I am in the same boat as you for that "last paycheck". DH gets paid Dec. 23...and that is when I can do any Christmas shopping for the kids and son in laws, and DH's parents, and the Christmas dinner. Well, now I have stressed myself. lol
Supposed to get another 6 to 10 inches snow tonight....not thrilled with it after my morning. BUT as of right now, I don't think I have to go anywhere in the morning.
Waiting for a call back from DH's work to see if he has to go in. He is grabbing a few hours sleep, just in case they do call. Hoping that phone doesn't ring and he can get some decent sleep.
I am heading up to bed.
Sweet dreams....and lots of hugs everyone. I think we all need them this week
Debbie
Morning all, hope if you've this weather in your neighborhood that you are inside, under a blanket and safe..
Shirley, how's our Tubby doing today?
Bev/Maggie, are you both gaining strength, not overdoing it?
Heart goes out to you Susan/Debbie and all...don't I know that regardless of how many years have gone by, for me 20 this New Years' Day, it's like yesterday...minds are quite something aren't they, can't remember half the time what I've done yesterday but with regards to that time it's like a small video player that plays each and every step, wish I knew where the button to turn it off was!!
Now girls that's a lot of shopping you have to do, wouldn't be bad if you were the only one in the stores but fighting the masses and possible weather conditions yikes, that's something.
It's freezing in here, imagine the temps have dropped substantially overnight, at least it looks clear out there; I'll go start the vehicle 15 minutes early just to have it warm for my drive in..
Off to do my hair, can't wait for Saturday's perm...look like the queen of hags!
Off the finish the wooden skates and have coffee and porridge, that ought to warm me up..
Hello everyone!
I started this just a few minutes ago and all of a sudden it jumped to ciper space, hate when that happens. Someone didn't like what I was chatting about. Oh well, I'll try again. Maybe my eyes aren't open all the way, bed is still calling. LOL There are times I really love my bed. actually been dreaming all night, so don't feel like I've slept a wink. I've runned on empty before.
Tubby goes in to a clinic where they just do dialysis. It is close to his Dr.'s office. He's own Dr. is worried he won't handle it very well. His BP's run very low and this has a tendency to make them lower. I hope and pray he's wrong. I had to remind him of how much of a fighter Tubby is. I think I'd feel better if I didn't have to work at all. He will only have 2 1/2 hrs today. Then Friday it'll be 3 1/2 hrs. We'll show them all that they are wrong.
I'll post Tubby's cookie reciepe when we get home this afternoon. I talked to my DS in MO. last night,
She was worried about what we would have for Chrsit. eve meal. We have plenty of food here. She is bringing a wheel of Brie, I have a bunch of different recipes, so we'll try some. The DSIL will come early next week to pick up gifts for WI group.
I sure hope you all get your shopping done on the 24th. You think they could pay early that week. They always straightened anything out the next week. Oh well, that is just how we feel. I know why they don't, but that doesn't always make things right.
Propane guy was here yesterday. WOW! there's our present. I hate seeing that bill. It's always so much at one time. I think I like doing the contract, that way I know the money is already there. I'll think about that next year. They say you can't take it with you, but I'll take mine in pooundish and warmth. LOL
Okay, this is what you do when you don't want to go into work. My DSIL says to call in and say I'm having eye trouble, I can't see coming in to work today. LOL He's a real story teller.
Will close for now, chat later today. Have a safe day to all and smile, tis the season to be jolly.
T&S
Shirley, tell Tubby all of us ladies are with him, surrounding him and holding his hands while he is having his dialysis. I think your DSIL is right, you just "cant see coming into work today!" However, it isn't that easy is it? Stay warm, and drive safe.
Betty, how are you feeling? I bet you have some bumps and bruises! Dang woman.
Did Rose get moved on, or is she still with you? How was Kyles birthday?
You are SO right about that video "replaying over and over" in my brain. Thats the reason I don't sleep nights! Can't shut that dang thing off. I am NOT a big fan of Christmas, just hate this time of year for so many reasons...and that video reply. Seems like when things are so hard on the economy all over...you just hold on to what you have and make the best you can and keep going forward.
Well, I need some breakfast. Maybe an early nap too.lol
Debbie
Good Morning everyone! Taking a minute to say hi and then I've got to start working.
You all have gotten slammed up north, glad everyone is checking in and letting us know you're alright.
Shirley and Tubby lots and lots of hugs, I know he'll prove those drs wrong!
Betty I would have called in stuck LOL
I'll try to check in later but I can't promise anything.
Morning everyone! Crissy, how are you doing? Looks like your working hard these days!
Shirley, we are sending lots of thoughts and oprayers your way, for an easy day of dialysis. Tubby is a fighter, and he will get through this so easy!
Debbie, please be carefull when doing your last minute shopping! Maybe a have a few sips of Bailey's before you go, to build your attitude! LOL!
Yikes, blizzard going on here, Paul is in the office, think he was taking us out for Christmas Luncheon but Lee-Ann is home ill (think she thinks I gave it to her last Friday) so not sure we'll be going! Would much prefer him telling us to head home..keep hearing ambulance going up/down the road so imagine some are in trouble.
Things they say come in 3's...my washer went, fell down, got some colorful hurts, still walking with difficulties and this morning I thought it was rather cold in the house, furnace not working....put 3 micro heaters on, 2 fireplaces and put in a call to Greg to have one of his workers come and look at it..still have to pay the company but might be a bit cheaper if Greg puts in a good word..wouldn't you know that these things would happen at Christmas.
Shirley, indeed Tubby is a fighter, we're all gathering and praying in his name, how can the Lord not listen to such powerful prayers!!
Debbie, did you make a list and do some computer shopping to see where the best buys are??? That might help you to know where to go..
LindaKay, you sewing on that new machine??? like it??? anxious to see what you've created!
Crissy, haven't seen you around much so imagine you are busy/busy..come stay a bit longer and let us know what your plans for the holidays are...
I had thought I'd cross the border during Christmas and NewYears, have something to mail to each of you BUT, the famous BUT..on the news this morning they were talking about all the difficulties they will have for 11 days due to some hockey being played, people coming from all over the world, said there would be a wait at the border as much as 5 hours if not longer so think that will due me in..will go search the web and see if I can find the actual days...Debbie, do you know anything about it?
Betty, I have never heard such a thing. Especially over the holiday. I know the Buffalo Sabres have games, but it isn't near the border....more right in the city of Bufffalo at HSBC arena. Only thing I can think of is the "winter games" but they are not until....February maybe? Stumped!!
I watched some of the new clips about all those people stranded on road and in their cars.....What a mess.
Betty hope they can fix your furnace and not cost much. Wait to cross the border and not put yourself through that.
Sewing like a mad person today. Still have one quilt to finish before Friday.
Oh Betty, I found it. Not familiar with any of this or the area. Looks to be on your side of the border...isn't that Clifton Hill area?
http://www.cliftonhill.com/events/2011-iihf-world-junior-hockey-championship-buffalo
Your side of the border Debbie, guess I won't be crossing over...drats and more drats. Do know they are calling for major crowds, most likely I'd find no hotel room...
Laura, Suzanne's husband has been there since Monday afternoon, hoping to get to drive the highway later this aft.
Have been having clients call to cancel their appt. - most snowed in..
Oh my Betty that is 3 days. Guess when they say you should carry a bag in car for situations like this a person should include food and water.
