LOL I remember Dannie, but I don't remember the accent. I do remember your friends heavy German accent, but I don't remember her name!!! I do have a lot of German mixed in my genes so talking to German people just excites me.

Shirley thank you so much for posting, we sure do miss you and worry when you don't post, but we also understand you are busy. Ooo I can't wait to see a pic of that island you are putting so much time into! Lots of prayers going out to your family as well.

Betty 2 weeks off!!! Oh I am soooooooooo JEALOUS!!!

Well I need to get off of this and get to work, it's getting late and I've a ton to do.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shirley, smart lady going to laundromat, just had to wait almost 1 1/2 weeks to get my machine serviced due to stupidity on my part, know you can't put extra large blankies in the washer, something's bound to happen. Lordy we have some things in common, lol, when my boys were little my SIL Linda and I made a trip to Toronto, Honest Ed's, one went there when they didn't have a lot of money, store was on many levels and they sold everything and anything..bought about 12 sweaters for the boys, guess at the time I didn't know a lot about washing either because as each sweater would come out of the washer I'd say 'imagine that' each one about the size to fit barbie doll, got many a laugh on that one as well. Why is it when you NEED to shrink something you can't regardless of what you try and do.

Barb, your card arrived yesterday for Ann, she'll be dropping in either tonight or tomorrow, thank you for your kindness. SO glad that Norm is doing so well..

Falling asleep here, wonder why, was up shortly after 2am, watched a murder mystery, worked on rag quilt and cleaned, now I ask you, is that not the reason my head is bobbing..just like a baby, got my days and nights mixed up.
As for Mike, guess it's the radiation done to his arm and now chemo for his lungs that's creating some problems..sure do feel for them and all who are ill and it always seems more overwhelming this time of year!

Shirley, when I was recreation co-ordinator I taught an evening class and a seniors workday at the rec. hall and we had 2 computerized kilns, even poured our own molds, did porcelain dolls etc.; been years since I've fired.. this kiln is small though, only meant for small glass sagging pieces and jewelery. They sure did have some wonderful Christmas items to paint, was just trying to remember what I had but remember that when Roger passed on I told myself I never wanted to celebrate Christmas again and over 50 boxes were given away, both DIL's have quite a few pieces..SHOULD have kept them, or not, where do you put all these things?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lydia was her name Crissy, she's the lady the medicine lady! I have to watch if I say I've an ache somewhere because the next day she's mixed up a potion or salts and stands there waiting for me to take it..lol..

Your busy time of year Crissy? What do you get off for Christmas?

Laura, can you share what you are sewing

Well I got to tell you all about me trying to donate quilts to the needy. We usually take clothes to Vintage values it it like a goodwill. I wanted the quilts to be given out and id not want person to pay. So I called a church around the corner and they do not take quilts or blankets. Imagine that!!!!!! So called another church and was given a number to womens shelter. I called and they do not need and then said would only take twin size quilts. But got another number for another church and called them YES she said we will take them. So I ask are there limits and do the people pay. No limits to size and no people do not pay but are only allowed 3 items when they come in. Santa is bringing new quilts for most family that is why I thought to thin out the closest. But really it is a donation and to have such a hard time. The shelters do not give out items bedding stays with the shelter.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Laura, how kind of you to do so, they certainly don't make it easy do they?
I've made over 20 lg. lap afghans, working on one now, done the shoulder warmers and briefly spoke with the seniors home, sure hope they take them and give them to those who have no visitors/gifts at Christmas but who knows, perhaps they won't want to be bothered???

You just got to wonder don't you? You'd think they'd appreciate all that is given in good faith.

Remember one Christmas Roger and I wanted to bring a family of children who had been taken away from their parents, thought if my entire family bought gifts, clothing etc it would be wonderful, they said no, no sense letting these children see what some get and have to go back into the system, didn't make sense to me.

Feeling yukky today, instead of having lunch I went to the glass studio andpurchased a book on beginner 'fuse it' and more glass and a lb. of dichronic glas, yikes, that was $68.99 and the some earing keepers and pendant holders, spent my next week allowance..lol but it should make about 30..asked for purple glass, no go!!!

Lexington Park, MD

The system makes it hard for people to share.
Now you will have projects to do with the new kiln and days off.

Lexington Park, MD

I had my 5 year old with me and had him go through coats and gloves to donate. He was funny when we got to the drop off. No people there and he wanted to hand items out to those who needed.

Lexington Park, MD

Ok Betty pictures on sewing thread of what I have been working on.

Victoria Harbour, ON

which sewing thread Laura?

Yes will play with it, looking forward to having the grandson's come and do their mom and grandmothers' pieces of jewelery, will be cool to let them design it.

My goal is to make you all a piece, likely I'll not cross your side of the border until between Christmas / New Years unless I take mom for her MRI so will do them this weekend and ship as soon as possible.

Lexington Park, MD

Sorry Beginning of winter what are you working on.

Hiya Shirley - good to hear you're getting some "me" time - enjoy it, lady!!

Yes, day 4 of my new job, and I'm impressing the "heck" outta them lol
I was doing Expense Reimbursements for one of my bosses, and found she'd put the same amount in twice, so had her delete the extra....... then found she'd missed asking for $137 - that's a nice bonus for her. Then I showed her the best way to do the forms etc - extra paperwork not required made it so much more readable for all concerned!!
Yes, it's a good thing I know these things and can show 'em what can be done for them!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, sounds as though you are right in your element! Meet any new friends?

Laura, said I'd show you the kiln

Paul (boss / BIL) said if weather co-operates Monday we'll all go out for Christmas luncheon so thought I'd best get his gift done, well maybe not just me, Greg came over to glue and measure frames I need for 2 wall hanging I'm giving Paul, while he did gluing Noah and Kyle decided to make a pendant and earing for their grandmother, another set to be done next week.

Fired the kiln without instructions so who knows if this set will turn out, if it doesn't we'll make another..lol

Greg called Melanie to tell her to pick up the boys on her way home from getting her nails done and he would go home...boys and I were talking, told the boys we should go watch a show upstairs while the kiln was heating up, Greg sure knows his 'ma', said he'd stay and gave me the dickens, when I'm firing, downstairs next to it I MUST stay!
Melanie came over, was admiring the rag quilt I did for Julie but Julie's is wrapped, this one is hers so I know she'll love it.

Been a long day, off to bed I go
Wish I could stay up for the night shift but no can do

Good Lord willing, we'll gab tomorrow!

Lyndonville, NY

Well, this is upsetting. It is " 7 " out. Nothing else, just " 7 ". Should be a law against that. Drove towards Rochester this morning in a small blizzard, but thankfully it stopped about 25 minutes outta here. Rochester was cold...but roads clear. SO much fun I get to do it again tomorrow morning!

Shane has to go for blood work, and he is FINALLY letting me get his senior pictures...which should be done and in already...taken. At least if yearbook won't take them now,I will have one!

Paul is up in Buffalo with his brother. Brother has season tickets to Buffalo Sabres....and took Paul for as its his Christmas gift I guess the seats are good as he texted me the Sabres scored twice right in front of them.

I have my electric blanket on....waiting for me. I have been so exhausted lately, was in bed shorly after 10 the last two nights. Very odd for me!

Shirley, I agree, you definately need some "me" time.

Betty, whatever happened with Mom coming over the border for tests? We are expecting a wicked storm up that way again this weekend, they are already coming up with some plans for safety after last weeks disaster up on the I-90 with so many motorists stranded for almost 24 hours.

Waving to Mary...sending hugs.
Judy, I broke down and got into my RC today....it was soooo good!

.Dianne, it is also known as Royal Crown Cola. I was "raised" on it down south.....and they just moved it up here the last few years....at least in my area.

Waving to everyone, Hugs to Bev....Hugs to Shirley & Tubby
Crissy...how you doing?
Susan, so happy about the job. Sounds so wonderful for you.
Joyce fingers are still crossed for you. Prayers for your DM...and big hugs.

OK, seriously....waving to everyone....and going to bed before I get frost bit just thinking about the temperature.

Debbie

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

Betty - how sweet for the boys to make something for Grandma...

Debbie - wow - I went through this last year. DS 'decided' he didn't like his hair and didn't take senior pics with the rest of the school... so I had to 'find' a photog appt for him and pay $$$ but ended up emailing the yearbook teacher the pic (although not yet re-touched) it "made" it into the book... by the hair of it's chinny chin chin.... Call the yearbook teacher and remind her that you REALLY want to be able to purchase the yearbook...can she help you ? LOL...

Laura - how sweet of your little one... wanting to see his donations be used...

((HUGS)) to all... I'm ccccccold....but it would be just plain ole WRONG of me to complain about it to my wonderful DG friends.... because we gots Nothin' compared to you gals...

:)

Mary

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Okay, it's my turn. I'm headed for bed when I finish this note. I have Tubby tucked in for the night and my DM.
Betty, that's the cutest kiln. That would be interesting to see it work and what you are making. Good luck and have fun, but do stay by it or at least the same room while it is running.
Susan, your job sounds great and it's always a plus when you can show them they couldn't do it without ya. Go girl!
Debbie, it is suppose to be 51 tomorrow. I'll finish up my chores outside when I get home. I got the fluids and tires filled today and the tanks are full and the deicer is in the vehicles. So that part is done. I'll add the last of the Stabil to the mower, weed wacker, cultivator and anything else I may have forgotten. I will get the rat poison out also. That doesn't mean the snow needs to come. I can get around in the cold alot easier. I know it's easier on the plants and great for the ground for snow, I'm just getting older where I don't like to drive in it.
My DD doesn't have an anerysum, the CT & MRI showed that it was, but when they did the angio-cath. today they found a twist in the artery that made it appear to be an anerysum. They thought it was probably caused by her HBP. She find out more next week. The Dear Lord answered our prayers. The kidney doc. called this morning and said he would like to have the dialysis cath. put in Tubby at the same time they do the kidney biopsy. He thought they ould have to start it in 2 weeks anyways and didn't want him to have to go it twice. If it helps that's great, I would love to see him regain his strength. I'm just praying that the biopsy shows that they can straighten it out and he can quit the dialysis some day.
Oh, by the way I made a pan of orange rolls so come on down for coffee and rolls in the AM. Okay, Good night to everyone and God Bless you all and keep you warm, safe and happy !
Shirley & Tubby

Baton Rouge, LA

Oh Shirley ! I LOVE Orange Rolls....grew up with them ! ((HUGS)) Thank you !

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Shirley, so glad to hear she did not have an anyerism!
I'll be there bright and early for those rolls! They sounds yummy!

Baton Rouge, LA

Shirley - That is excellent news ! YAY! Celebrating with you !

LK - how has your weather been? we got our first hard freeze and (some of ) the yard looks dead....

Got 2 Hibiscus Blooms under the sheets when I uncovered them today....Very 'surreal' almost...

Hugs,
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, all

Going to try your Orange Rolls Mary but I've never heard of them??? you'll have to tell me what my taste buds are tasting, mouth watering here, need to go get myself a coffee..do you uncover your hibiscus every day Mary and recover at night or only when they are calling for low temps? How's work going, you haven't updated us in some time? What's the plans for Christmas?

Stacey, how's Jonathan doing..got all your sewing done?

BRRR mighty cold out -4 this morning, will start my vehicle a bit earlier and let it warm up; still rather have the cold than 'snow'...not sure if you southern bells know when it's cold doesn't snow!!! lol

Shirley, what great news about your daughter, that must have taken some of your worry away, now more prayers for Tubby!! Dr. is right, wouldn't want to have him go through 2 proceedures when one will do it..You sound as though you are now well prepared for winter, once you finish those few chores left you'll breath a sigh of relief!
Try to take some time for yourself today on your outing.

Debbie, mom called me yesterday and asked if I was still taking her, told her I would but NOT to make appt. until she has her passport in hand, usually when you renew it's anywhere from 7 to 14 days so she's hoping it will be there today then guess she'll book the MRI. I should tell her before she does to let me know so I can check long range weather ! Ahhh you broke down, had that RC Cola, bet your body cells just pulled in all that caffien.
All that running around is what is making you tired..so did your hubbies team win the game last night? Sure hope the photo makes it to the yearbook!

LindaKay, has your dad settled in?

Anyone hear new of how Maggie's doing?

As I sit here I can hear the furnace running overtime, Sailor is out for her morning run, best I go let her in

Lexington Park, MD

Great kiln Betty.
Shirley glad you got to get out and have a little me time.
Tubby take care.
Debbie I did the samething when it came to senior pictures...yuk
Mary and how cold is it there?
We are at 27 right now high today 41.
Coffee is on and Shirley has the rolls....YUM
Good day to all.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Betty, Dad is settleing in, but still being so stubborn sometimes! The other day, I got him up, bathed, meds taken, and then a bowl of cereal for breakfast. he only ate about half of it, soI dumped it out! A few minutes later he went to the kitchen, and pinted to the freezer. He wanted icecream! I told him, NO! Not for breakfast! he went back to the living room, and pouted, then he wanted it for lunch! I told him he has to eat lunch, that ice cream is a special occasion treat, as he is diabetic! He just gave me that "up your's look"! So after he ate is supper, I gave him a bowl, and told him that was the last of the ice cream, as I won't buy anymore. Todd and Dad are both diabetic, and I am trying real hard to eat healthy. Then he got really mad! He sure knows how to push the stress buttons sometimes!
It is not that cold here! it is supposed to be 73 here today, and down to about 30 at night. We have only had one really light frost so far! I still have roses trying to bloom.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Maggie posted here!

"I'm here...just not as often as usual. I'm still pretty sore and I have a hard time lifting my right arm so I only do it when I have to...I have to lift it to use my computer. I have 5 incisions going up my rib cage under my arm and the top one is high. They had to stitch deep into breast tissue so it's very tight. If you've ever worn an underwire bra and couldn't wait to get home to rip it off because it was digging into your side, that's how my skin feels...only I can't rip it off."

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG LindaKay, like having a young one around, temper tantrums..lol..must be frustrating for you at times. As you say, if there is none in the freezer and he knows it then maybe he'll not create a stink about it..too cute, know it's not for you but visualizing it you just have to smile. 70's is perfect weather for me; we all have trade offs re weather don't we, either too hot/too cold, too wet or too dry! Yikes had to go back and correct some words as I have bandaids on my index finger of left hand. Guess who wanted to do a decorative stitch all along 4 sides of the rag quilt so she could take it to work and drop off at the laundromat on her way home??? yes it was me, in a hurry as usual, playing beat the clock in the morning, anyway, went to move the ragging to one side and didn't I have my finger where I should not have had it, went to shift my weight on the chair and as I did so, foot pressed down on the throlled, yep needed went right through my finger nail and finger, luckily no blood all over the blanket! ouch/ouch

Finally Jeff called with his plans, his is always so broken up, you know how divorce is..he's always left the boys with Lisa for Christmas morning so he'd come up north spend Christmas Eve with me, then leave after supper and go get the boys in the city and come back and spend Boxing Day with me...this year, he has a girlfriend so that complicates plans even more, but he said that he will pick up the boys on Thursday night, come up and spend Christmas Eve day with me, Christmas morning and have to leave about 10a.m. to have them home by noon, then will go to Julie's for Christmas din/din..

Works for me, called Greg and told him I'd have my meal on Christmas Eve day and we all could spend a lovely Christmas Eve at home, have breakfast Christmas morning then all could do their thing..Greg says 'but mom, always do my shopping Christmas Eve' well, I say " do it the night before!!!' lol talk about last minute shopping..that's my boys! Must take after their dad not their mom who starts Dec. 26th.

Happy with end result of planning, always feel better when I know what the gameplan is...

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, thanks for the update on Maggie..sounds as though she still has a long way to go before she is totally healed! They had better tie her to the bed to keep her resting, as I just know she'll be thinking of all she has to do to make Christmas special...sending prayers and soft hugs..

Glenview, IL

Hi and Good morning!
I have been trying to read daily.
So good to see Maggie is on the mend. Also sending Gentle hugs.
I sure hope your Thanksgiving dinner was marvelous, so glad your sister is there to help Celabrate your being home!

Betty, how cool you got your Kiln! I love that the boys are over checking it out and making gifts! Yikes, was sorry to hear about your washer, but glad to see it's fixed.

Debbie, gulp, gulp..lol I so glad you enjoyed that RC, which reminds me, i've a stash here somewhere.

Waiving hello to everyone...

Susan, so glad to see your new job is going so terrific...god for you.

Well, it has been a busy, busy last couple of days...As you know my Baby girl is to be 21 this Sunday. We are planning a Surprise birthday for her this Saturday evening, it won't be too big because she doesn't do Big. So the big plan is, i take her shopping for some new work boots and a little Christmas shopping...Be back here by 7:30/45ish...Today i am ordering her cake. LOL i am so excited about it alone...As of late she and the kids have been into playing cards. One of the favorites is 21. So on her cake i am having them make like a poker table with 4 hands. 1st a 9/3 & face down card 2nd. a King/2 & FD card, 3rd hand 8/9 cards, giggle, giggle. if you add the first 2 hands, they turn out to be her birthdate. 12/12 8/9 is her birthyear and the last hand Queen & Ace of hearts making 21! Three large poker chips in center of table that will read Happy Birthday Julia...Have to order it today, sure hope they can do it, but i have to go to jewels.

I haven't been able to play on Computer because Sabrina has been working diligently on her Photography photos. She has taken a ton of pictures. This has been going on for about a month. I hope she gets a good grade on it. LOL, The other night, she had Steve for models! She was so cute saying she wished she had her own studio! But she had to re-create these photos from a big name photographer. Staged the scenes and had us in the same poses...i think they came out pretty good...Wow, the school even allowed her to use their lights! This is a Big, big grade.

Julia and Anthony have been working like crazy...but now Julia has finished with school, waiting on her grades...Sunday we will have dinner with Grandma to celebrate with her.

Jacob, OMG poor boy has hurt his back! Out of wrestling for the last 3 practices...i am so upset as i think he just pushes himself way to hard. been a non stop since school started. Now, he has to rest...

DH, crazy busy, exhausted at days end...Betty, they love the chalk boards and everyday a new message!

me, been trying to keep things organized, did some paper work and got a few things badly needed, bird food, a $%$#@@! 15.00 posterboard, for school project. finished a few things and finally decided to decorate my house. usually we wait for Julia's Birthday weekend, but since the party, thought i'd put few decorations out...LOL, almost all finished. Just the Sunroom left, so will do that later today...So, today proves to be another busy run around day, getting the snacks for party..later will take the kids to store so they can get her a gift....Part of my gift, a 1989 quarter and a few "state" quarters that she doesn't have...a Hawii and the Ohio, lol because she went to gathering, thought it would be cool. The rest, are put away for stocking stuffer, she wants a real cool Quarter book for Christmas.

Well other then that, It's just same old stuff, house work etc...I am up at 5:30, to bed at 9. lol, never thought that would be possible, used tobe able stay up till 1 or 2!

So any way...Glad to see everyones been busy...
Very happy to see you post Shirley, Hope your day is good...So good to see they will do the procedure only once on Tubby.

Thunder, Hahahah, Just loved your snowman cartoon.
Betty, i love the wooden bowl story...

OK Well, sorry to have missed some, but I have got to go, "Julia seems to be lurking behind me, trying to sneak a peak!"
LOL, had to jump up and gather the cards, grrr, she is never up this early.

i hope you all have a wonderful day.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, those needles hurt like the dickens! Please be careful!
Glad to hear your having all the plans come together! Lotsof us wait till the last miniute to do shopping. I have most of mine done, but there is always one ot two I forget, then off and running I go!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Now comes making list of what's needed and order turkey, ham and fruit, cheese and veggie trays, know I could do them but normally it cost more than ordering. LindaKay, can you go out and do your errands during the day and leave dad for a bit or do you have to wait until hubby is home to help out? Now you can sit and enjoy the pre Christmas activities right?

Been two days I've been out of sorts, debated coming in this morning but did, got here 20 minutes late because of the 'should I, shouldn't I' thing, guilty taking Friday off..anyway, guess Paul's daughter spoke to him when he called in and said I wasn't the best, said to go home so nobody else got sick, will do, but here's Suzanne hacking and coughing etc. and I get to go? Still not sure I will..

Snowing again, wind coming up, will be glad to be home for the weekend.

Rita/Gerry e-mailed and want to visit a bit tomorrow morning, then last night Bernice and Cliff called, having a gathering of friends Sunday night, most play musical instruments so that should be fun...guess now we'll all be run off our feet.

Judy, you are so busy as usual..omg 21, give Julia our best..look forward to seeing some of the photo's Sabrina took of you both; know how it is with school sports, Melanie and Noah are off to another hockey tournament 100 miles away so no school again..think in last 3 weeks he's not gone on a Friday...personally don't think sports are that important, make it difficult to make up school time, but that's me..who knows, he might be an NHL player in years to come and making the big bucks..lol

Glad Steve is busy, you won't worry about his being unemployed at Christmas time at least..now tell us what did you buy with your earning of doing the paper work?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mom just called, doggie has cancer, crying her heart out..

Drats..

Leaving work now..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, sorry to hear about Mom's dog!

yes, I can leave him for short trips, but he has a fit when I leave with out him! So I try to wait till Todd comes home, or I take him with!

Baton Rouge, LA

Thank you LK... ((HUGS)) to Maggie...

LK - wow - must be hard having a parent like a child.... Is there anything sweet they can eat? I'm clueless...

Betty - can totally understand about making plans... we had to "plan" to decorate the tree this Sunday.... with teens working now... and almost can't manage to have a bday party for DSD1 (12/4).....she expects ALL to be there.... that's 6 teenagers... hasn't been planned yet...

Work has been good. I had my 2010 Review today and I sold more new clients than any of the other 11 salespeople... so they are happy with me. But as with sales... "you are only as good as your last month" so they say..... LOL

Hugs all,
Mary

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Betty, so sad about Moms dog. He is such a sweet little guy. How old is he? Give Mom & Jim a hug for me, know how that hurts.

I talked to Maggie online for awhile tonight. That poor sweetie, she is so nervous that this is going to happen again with her lung. They told her some people are prone to it once it happens. She can't fly for a year....and she is even worried driving in high altitudes. She is making Gingerbread House with the kids....her first time...so should be a fun night for them. Her sister is there to help until Sunday.

Mary, it has to be a perfect combination of cold/moisture etc to get snow. BUT when it is around the 28 to 32 mark...you can get some of your heaviest snowfall. Now, yesterday morning...I drove to Rochester in a small blizzard.....and it was 7 degrees out. SOOOO there really are no rules...its gonna snow if it wants too!

AND...my day was successful for the most part. Another long drive to Rochester, Shanes blood work done....a couple errands done ...and

Senior pictures done!

He was so funny, told me "MOM, I am telling you, one picture for the yearbook, and one with my guitar...and I am outta there!"

Ok, at least I get one picture. Well, the photographer was SO good with him....I bet I have 15 really good pictures. She just knew how to work him and get his real charm (or devil) to come out.

These are just a few....but I just had to share them.

Awe Debbie !

SO so so handsome ! I am puffed up proud... FOR YOU ! :) Tears... you are going through Senior Year as I did last year....what an emotional rollercoaster ! (was that way for me anyway) LOL

Deb... I "see you" in ALL of your kids.... what gorgeous eyes he has....
