Now that the front and back sections of the neck warmer is done I need about 80 rows of knit 1/purl 1 for the neck section so it's time to lift the bottom carriage
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
TaDa..finished piece, now to find the deer hyde might take longer than the knitting..
I do have 2 other machines, one is a high end model that you can computerize your pattern and it knits on it's own..rarely use it, infact it's hiding under the bed..lol
This one has earned it's keep..about 25 years ago I paid $1,200 and made hundreds of snowmobile neck warmers with hyde..reason for hyde is cold/wind cannot penetrate the hyde so snowmobilers are warm and toasty
Noah's was black and green to match the snowmobile suit Santa will bring and Kyle's will be black and yellow..
Shirley do hope you and Tubby are snuggled in; nothing like having furries laying at your feet..makes you all warm inside doesn't it!!!
Maggie, nice to see you post, hoping you are behaving, don't want a relapse for sure! Guess you now are back into a routine? Did your sister go home or will she stay a bit longer, would imagine it's difficult if she has a family as well..
Off to make my coffee and perhaps start Kyle's neck warmer..
Might try blowing hard hoping I'll get a call to say 'snowday'..wouldn't that be marvellous..another day in jammies!
Ahhh 4 more days and Rose is gone..we will most definately stay in touch.
Anyone got any sweets ???
Shirley and Tubby stay warm out there today.
Debbie so so sad I am praying that maybe he was out visiting someone and not home.
Betty I am going to come and stay with you . You have some awesome gadgets that I would like to use. That knitting machine is awesome.
Coffee is on and cranberry applesauce bread.
I could use a jumbo pot of STRONG coffee today. I'll pass on the sweets.
Debbie, I've had you on my mind a bunch. Wish you would have posted again last night, but I understand. Hoping a miracle took place for your neighbor. I'm here all day if you want to call, Love.

That machine is AWESOME!! Imagine the smarts it took to come up with that idea and make it work! Wow...beautiful work Betty.
I made cashew brittle, caramels and baklava yesterday. Is that sweet enough?
Looks like we got about 4 inches of snow last night. Looks pretty, but I'm hoping my folks will want to delay the visit to the funeral home to discuss the change in their plans until Thursday!!!
Hard day for you Joyce going to the funeral home re funeral plans..grandparents raised me and they purchased theirs in their 70s but lived to 99, sure did make things easier when the end came, let's hope your parents won't have to use their services for years to come.. In our early 40's who would have thought Roger and I would have needed the services, sure wasn't an easy task and of course you are in shock and wanting nothing but the best for your loved one, some take advantage of that..
Thanks for the eats, maybe next week while home I'll try my hand at baking..key word 'maybe'
Well, been outside and shovelled at least 2 ft. of snow, difficult opening basement door as the snow was so high, did a pathway and cleared back deck steps and cleaned off my vehicle, took a bit to find it..lol..bitter cold and yes did wear a hat!!! Glad I didn't have to do much more clearing because I'm to sore to be out there doing the drive!
Municipality has not cleaned roads so my plowman has not cleaned my drive (which is quite long and wide) because if he does he'd have to return to rid the snowbank put in front as municpal plow covers it in..
I'll wait until about 7:45 am and call Paul, I'll just be late that's all, no sense trying because I'd have to call a tow truck!
No wind here but they say by mid afternoon there will be and that's when the problem happens.
Got Paul's gift at the door, glad to have that behind me, been working on Kyle's neck warmer so have been productive this morning...
Laughing to myself, I've got my clothing on the bed ready to get dressed BUT won't until I know if Paul feels sorry for us and tells us either to stay home or come in when possible..
Stay safe if you are having bad weather!
Betty YOU STAY SAFE today! Take care of yourself - you don't need to slip even a teensy bit. Besides if you don't go in to work what are they going to do - take the second hand off of the gold watch when you retire. I was a devil for going in when I taught no matter how sick I was.One time I had bronchial pneumonia just the week before Christmas and I didn't want my kids (Behavioural Class) to have a stranger as a teacher.I kept getting sicker and sicker and finally my DH exploded with the comment about the second hand on the watch. If I could have laughed without hurting then I would have but he got his point across.
How are you doing Maggie? Still hurtin at the incisions? Glad your sister was able to help out for a few days.
Bought our tree Saturday so will probably put it up this week sometime. I can hardly wait!
Have sausage rolls in puff pastry for those so inclined this early in the am.
BBL
Dianne
Ok it is snowing down here. Which one of you sent this our way......I need these next few days of kids in school to finish some quilts for them.So blow it in another direction please.
Dianne, isn't that the truth, not sure why we punish ourselves going in ill, travelling through blizzards but we do! Maybe it's old school where you just didn't stay off work but then they weren't travelling an hour or two to work each day were they!
Have fun decorating the tree.
Ahh Laura, didn't blow that hard to send it to you..
No staying home, Paul went to the city this morning and he said main part was getting his drive done, go slow he says and be watchful; ok, step one getting out of my drive, do have to wait for municipal plow though, might be an hour before I get out!
Good morning, and thank you all for your kind thoughts and hope for a miracle. Sadly, there is no miracle. When they found Mr. Housel, he was already gone. His home is brick, and very well insullated...so apparently, it had been burning some time before the smoke got OUT of the house for someone to see and report it.
From what our neighbor (Martha Stewarts Husband) told us, Mr. Housel had been in the hospital last week from a fall but came home several days ago. From what they found, it looks like he was cooking, possibly had a stroke or heart attack....and fell. The stove continued cooking...causing the fire, which spread thru the kitchen and up 3 floors. They have been there working all night.....3 fire departments in all. About 4:30/5:00 this morning, they started hammering and boarding up the house.
Mr. Housel was quite elderly, and he just lived for his little dog Trinka. She was a mischievious little thing as most Doxies are. It is a good thing they were lost together as one really wouldn't want to continue without the other.
Apparently our little town lost one of its firefighters this weekend also. It wasn't related to the fire yesterday.....not sure of that situation yet, I think it was due to an illness. But they have his coat and boots out in front of the firehall with a little memorial area.
I am Ok, it is just so sad....it is just such a helpless feeling, to see flames, and know someone is in there and nothing you can do to get them out.
Snow is just now falling here. We had a full day of heavy rain yesterday, and there was no snow left...just mud! But temps have dropped and snow is now falling.
Joyce, lots of hugs. I can tell you it is easier doing it with your parents than on your own. It really does mentally help you. You know what they want and will be happy with. Making those decisions after loosing my Mom was almost worse than her death. More hugs for you, none of it is easy...your mind just goes overboard, but together you will all get through that.
Posting quickly from my itouch, as my desk top is not working! Not for sure what is wrong! Betty, please drive carefully!
Sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way Debbie! So sorry to hear he did not make it out of the house!
I will be lurking, but not posting much, as it is hard to post from my itouch!
Thanks, Debbie and Betty. We had already made the plans, but now they want to change them. They don't want to be cremated now, so I'm sure it will be quite a bit extra but I want them to be happy and after all, it is their money!
Our cookie exchange that was planned for tomorrow with our exercise group is postponed until next Tuesday. The house we were going to have it in is at the top of a winding hill, so it wouldn't have been fun trying to scale that! Anyway, I'm glad I was waiting until today to make my cookies for the exchange tomorrow cause they wouldn't have been too tasty sitting around for a week! Plus...if they were here.......well, you know!
Well, LK...you're doing a FINE job with it!!
Good Morning.
Debbie, i am so very sorry to hear about your neighbor and his beloved dog.
Sending you hugs.
Betty, my goodness, sorry you took a fall on the steps. I hope the pains and aches subside quickly.
please slow down...
I have a bunch of things to take care of this morning. But i just wanted to come and at least say Hello.
Hello! I hope you all have a good warm and Safe day. Brrr. 9 degrees here.
Be back a little later, yuk my chores have me out and about in this bitter cold!

I feel for you! I used my iPhone while I was in the hospital. That's part of the reason I didn't post much.
Debbie, I'm so sorry about your neighbor. Sending prayers of comfort....
And sending gentle hugs to you Betty. I'm assuming you didn't say anything to Paul about your fall. I'm sure he would have told you to stay home and heal......Please be careful today....
I finally finished up with everything that had to be mailed. Norm is at the PO as we speak with all kinds of boxes and envelopes. Maybe now I can relax a bit and get some things done for here. I'm finishing up sewing the binding on the second kitty quilt and then I can start to bake.
Have a wonderful day everyone and stay warm!!!!!
Debbie so sorry to hear about your neighbor, sounds like he was too old to be living alone. That's so sad about the doggie.
Well getting ready to head into a staff meeting so I'll have to catch up later. Nice pics Debbie, he's handsome!
Betty that knitting machine is quite the contraption!
Morning, here I is, sitting at work, didn't help aches and pains shovelling myself out after getting stuck..yikes, thank goodness neighbor came to help..am sure it's same in all of your municipalities, main roads/highway get done THEN smaller roads.
Debbie, was so hoping that would not be the case, you are right though, best they both went together..can't you see them walking the paths of heaven together? hugs for you my friend.
Barb, always takes a load off of you when you get your pressies mailed! Does Sean help you bake as well or is it Norm's turn?
LindaKay, sorry to hear your computer is sick..can you get it cleaned like I did? Mine is now working fine, thank goodness.
Judy, going to call you the 'on the run girl' lol..how did the party go? From the weather channel see Chicago's being hit..be careful
It is Crissy and easy to run..did the 2nd one this morning for Kyle...drats hate to see storm watch clicking on/off my screen
IF A FAT GUY GRABS YOU AND PUTS YOU IN A BAG,
DON'T WORRY,
I TOLD SANTA I WANTED A GOOD FRIEND FOR CHRISTMAS!
Oh HEY! I'm up for a side trip to Canada!!!! Come on Big Guy!!!!
No I want to go.....take me santa. So if santa brings me do I still need a passport??????
Betty, I wonder if the lake freezes....if they will stop me walking across with my "sled" dog! Dang, I know they would! Santa, pick me up....stuff me in the bag, I am outta here! haha
Crissy, that is one thing I can say honestly, he was perfectly capable of living alone at age 91. He had all his wits about him, and definately at the top of his game. He had a gentleman come do his lawn for him, shovel and such.....and a woman who did his housework. He made it perfectly clear he could do it....but he enjoyed her company....and he was too lazy! lol
Found out the fireman we lost this weekend had been quite ill with cancer. He and his family owned the "Family Spot" diner down the way.
Oh, and that nasty weather Betty & Dianne sent over....has hit. Not supposed to stop til Wednesday morning! Oh joy! Thought it was funny, we NEVER make the news way out here. But there on the news, channel 2 & channel 7....pictures of Rt. 63 in Orleans.....that my road! So between that....and the fire, our little town was top news. Sure can do without that.
Debbie, think it's easier applying for that passport or ezzypass because not so sure the lake does freeze..lol
Did your neighbor have family nearby? Drats, was the fireman very old?
Hope santa drops you off Christmas Eve, that's when I'm setting out all the goodies!
Were gonna take it in, but I called them, and they said if it will not turn on, it is probably fried! I keep unplugging it, letting it sit for a few hours, but so far no luck! I am taking it in Friday to see what they say!
Hope they don't charge an arm and a leg just to look at it LindaKay..aren't computers fairly cheap in USA? Was tempted to purchase mine there had I not been able to repair it.
They are getting cheaper. Right now they have them on sale. You can get a new desktop for about $800.00, or a laptop for about $500.00.
Still a lot of money if you there are other options...especially at Christmas..maybe you could ask the same Santa who got you the new vehicle if he's strong enough to carry an extra computer when doing his run??
Hello To All !
Betty - I do hope you can watch "UP".... Please let me know if you get to watch it... Maybe have Kyle with you ... he may have seen it already.... The first part is very sad but then it picks up and gets quite adventurous but ultimately it is the meaning behind it that I love (simple things)... it is a cartoon... YOU know me... (DISNEY!!!)
Also LOL... MOM had a knitting machine... ANOTHER SImilarity... I hope you don't mind... you are much younger than she (Betty June) would be but two peas in a pod and YOU know... she is on such a pedestal with me... it is meant VERY Complimentary..... (((HUGS)))
Betty - Your picture could be a Christmas Card !
HUGS Laura, Dianne, Crissy, Maggie, Debbie, Judy, LK, Barb, Joyce......and all....
I'll check back in a bit....
