OMG Mary, finally we meet on the unknown time zone..how are you sweetie? See the doggies tale wagging..

looking at the clock, is it just after midnight for you? Are you soon off to bed or can you not sleep either?

Not fond of these sleepless nights but one sure does accomplish much..lol

Lexington Park, MD

Wow Betty I really like the rag quilt and love the colors.
Your brothers dogs look like they want to go outside and play.
Mary what a wonderful story and yes we as people should try to be moe like our dogs.
Mine does all the above but barks and drives us crazy.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Laura, you are up early as well..going to start calling us the early birds and Mary and the other the nighthawks.

Soft colors in it Mary, like it, not quite enough fabric to make the 2nd one for Melanie so I'll do all of it except for the outer row which I'll pick up something to match in Barrie this week, do have some darker tones that could work, we'll see, just an added bonus for her, am sure she'd love whatver she gets

Lexington Park, MD

Yes early birds. It is the best time for me to get some sewing done.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Just skimmed what I've missed....

Bev (((Hugs to you))) So sorry about your loss...Blue will be waiting for you on the Rainbow Bridge...

Betty, Sage Green...

The job is for Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Administrator. Not expecting to hear back but that's okay because....

Ok....this is why I've been missing:

Well, bad news concerning my mother. She's stage 4. The colon cancer has spread to 4 places in her liver and it is an aggressive cancer. Surgery is not an option. She will start the chemo pill as soon as possible. (Possible side affects are nausea, diarrhea, mouth sores and sore and breaking skin on the hands). If she can tolerate the chemo, she has 12-18 months. If she can't and stops it, less than 6. So, I'm not really doing very good right now. She says she's had a good 90 years, but I'd surely rather have her here and in good health than otherwise. I just hope she doesn't suffer.... :o(

Victoria Harbour, ON

Prayers going out to you Joyce, certainly understandable that you are going through horrific times..regardless of their age it hurts like *&^%!!! Know we are here should we be able to do something/anything but I think prayers are what's needed.

Now don't you be down regarding the job..praying that this week you'll get the belated call just as Susan got hers..

Life can't be ALL bad news..

Blizzard going on outside..had the back porch covered in i.e. screening and thought that might keep 90% of the snow out but noticed today with high winds that the 10% coming in I'm not will ing to deal with, so had my trusted heavy plastic roll that I bought just incase and I've been working on closing it in from inside..about 3/4 done, couldn't feel my hands let alone my fingers so came in to watch Joel Olsteen, curl my hair, warm up, have hot chocolate and muffin and then back out I go..will feel better about the winter once that is done. Went to call Greg to give me a hand but remembered he and family are away at hockey tournament so it's just ME..quite capable although I have used a few bad words and Joel Olsteen Ministry sermon might put me back on right track..

Need to go do groceries so think I'll take a run in as soon as I'm finished just incase it gets worse out there..I could drop the rag quilt at the laundromat which is a block away from grocery store and it can was while I shop..wonder if someone might take it??? hmmmm good idea or bad idea???

Plenty to keep me busy if I am snowed in..

Be kind to yourself today, see you on my next break!
Aren't weekends fun?

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Betty....not sure I want a job right now with my mom......

Verona, ON

Oh Joyce I am so sorry to hear about your DM. It is so hard when they are faced with such choices when they are getting on in years. My dear, sweet father was faced with a much similiar choice and while the rest of the family stewed I was it is his body, his choice and he wants us to remember him with good memories.
Just cherish the time you have with your DM and I know that you will. You are right if a job should fall into your lap fine but if not that's OK too because you can spend more time with your DM. Sending positive prayers, hope and thoughts your way.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning Dianne, made the coffee and muffins and didn't see you on the early morning shift..lol..are you getting this snow?

Yikes, talk about cold, came in 2nd time, fingers were numb, didn't even realize that I had hammered my thumb..wasn't out long but the wind is blistery cold..brrr

So just going to start my car and go do grocering and then think a hot bath would do me good and I can just play in the craft room..

What are you all up to today, weather co-operating?
Please/plese don't tell me it's 80 in your neighborhood..lol

I'm thrilled with my computer and highspeed..making me smile..

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

33* here right now, but it was only expected to be 29 today. So 33 is good. We had snow yesterday....I could really do without out it, but I suppose it's good insulation for my plants...I'll try to think of it that way.

As soon as I hop in the shower I'm going to go to the folks house to return a toaster they bought and pick up a few groceries for them. I told them I'd be available for ANY and EVERY thing until the end for Mom and then I'd be there for Dad, too. Think it made them feel better.

Yesterday I helped DD and DSIL with a cheerleading competition. I helped out with the sale of t-shirts, sweats and such. It really made the day go fast (7:30-5:30) and didn't give me any time to dwell on sadness. Just as well......I surely don't need to be feeling sorry for myself. I'm just selfish......

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

You are not selfish Joyce, just human. And keeping busy does help. You and your family are in my prayers....

Victoria Harbour, ON

I agree with Barb, certainly not selfish and know from own experience that your mom will be more at peace during what's to come knowing you'll be there for your dad..sometimes we forget the ones that will have to carry on the journey and they certainly are in need of family and friends...

Just finished the entire back deck, couldn't figure out what I should do about the door, didn't want to put nails, just came to me, wrap in the plastic, not sure tape will really work BUT am sure if I took some of that Christmas ribbon laying around I could secure it..off to try my luck..

Glenview, IL

Hello,

Joyce, Giant Arm wraps to You, Mom and Dad.
No, no, not selfish at all. News like this certainly devastating blow. My prayers that doesn't suffer. I am so glad you are there for her and your dad...There is not much I can say to ease the sadness. Just know You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Maggie, i was so glad to see you are Home! Hope you are healing well and taking it easy.

Debbie, how did your snow scene turn out. Did you enjoy the day crafting?

Mary, my goodness, glad that week is over, I am sure something was learned. I hope the coming week is so much better for you.

Laura, what are you sewing?

Oh today is such a quiet, lazy kind of day...Think I will find a book to start. You ever have one of those kind of day when You should work on something but just don't want to? LOL, everyone is in the same kind of mood, they are all watching football, so i figure, why should I work while they all sit about??

We went to the Christmas Gathering last night. Wow, it was wonderful to see our friend. He was very apologetic about loosing contact for so many years...We said well the most important thing is we are back in touch. His wife is a sweetheart, and we actually knew many of his friends. Many years ago, We all Camped and White water rafted together. It was fun to reminisce about our young and wilder days.
I think too, it was great as we just picked right up as tho nothing ever happened. Still don't know what happened, but i guess it doesn't matter anymore.
They loved my sleigh ornament...Steve gave him a bar of Bo nami soap! He just rolled in laughter over it. Put it in his "Man Cave"
Back then He, Steve and a couple other guys all share a birthday within days of each other. So they became the Bo nami brothers, lol had this crazy chant they did and of course DH and Kenny recited it within the first 15 minutes of being there.
They had this White Elephant gift exchange, which was so much fun! I ended up with an Oreo cookie jar. LOL, I actually love it! We laughed as well, we have never owned a cookie jar. Now we have a rather cool one, hmmm, now have to figure out where to put it and even better fill it with cookies! Steve had this really cool photo frame that was like a ferris wheel, boohooo, someone stole it and he ended up with this Giant fist thing, hmmph, I kept pointing at this gorgeous sled, but he wouldn't steal it, lol he will give the fist thing to Jake, lolol unless it happens to end up in garbage.

Well, not sure what the weather is but it's cold for sure...
Man oh Man we got plumbing issues so waiting for someone to come and do the rod through.

Other then that, i hope you will enjoy the lazy Sunday.
Oh Betty, Your Quilt is beautiful...I like the colors on both.
Wow, i sure hope your door wrap works out well.

Judy, I love it!

My snowman village is on "hold" as everyone started helping. Tomorrow...they will be gone and I can lock the kitten in the bathroom and finish. He has green paws now. Oh lordy.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((((((Joyce, DM & DF)))))))))))))) so glad you're "there" for them, Joyce...... you're a true blessing to your parents ^_^

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Goodness, so much going on! Did I read that Maggie is home? Bet she is tickled to be back with the kids and hubby!
Cookie, so sorry about your Mom! Sending you lots of prayers, and (((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))!
Bev, so nice to see you posting too!
Judy, love the miniature sleigh! I will have to go back, and find that thread, as I did not get in on that workshop.
Are they easy to do?
Well, I am off to bed, it is supposed to be 34 here tonight, so the heater is on, and I am in flannel jammies!
Later

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, blizzard going on, silly me, should have forwarded the telephones Friday to my home and then I'd not have to drive in..oh well, going to get dressed and out the door a 1/2 hr. or so before usual time and that way I can diddle daddle all the way..

Not sure what the temp is right now but know it's COLD!!

Rose made it home last night from her Ottawa trip and she said you couldn't see 5 inches in front of you..her friend left here headed to Toronto, offered him a bed so he could leave today but he said not, he'd brave the storm, wasn't a few miles from here that he called Rose to say he was in a ditch..Once pulled out by the tow truck he decided to continue to the city..silly boy!

Susan, you will be like a school child, off on your first day of work..we'll be thinking of you!

Gab when I get to work, if I can find work..lol
I'll be sure to bring boots, mitts and a blanket - you just don't know..

Coffee's on and we can battle over the last 2 muffins..

GOOOOOOOD MORNING DG FRIENDS!

I sure do have a lot of catch up reading to do around here!

This is the 1st time I've used my computer since....hmmm....November 23rd???? I didn't even use my laptop in the hospital, just my teeny tiny phone. I can't stay on long today either...my sister and I are making Thanksgiving dinner. Not a huge dinner, but something for my kids because they've been ASKING about it since I left for the hospital. They'll be thankful for sure!

I need to feed Learynn......I'll be back.

Lexington Park, MD

Good morning Maggie good to see you. Take it easy , don't
over due it . I bet the kids are glad to have you back home.
It is so cold here feels like it should be snowing.

Lyndonville, NY

Maggie, so glad to have you back....and healthy! Love on the baby for me, I need some baby hugs.

Betty, be careful. We have all kinds of warnings going on around here. Up to 12 inches in our area....right off the lake. You know what that means, Lake effect off Ontario....you & Dianne sent it over! You just be careful, as of right now, I don't need to go out.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I feel so bad for all of you getting this snow. It is swirling in off the ocean. I am in the "eye of the storm" so to speak and we haven't had any snow at all!!!!!!!!! It is clear in about a 50 mile radius all around me!!!
My SIL is going crazy as he wants the snow so badly (snowmobiler!).Occasionally I'll see a flurry but that's all... Please be careful and check in with us if you go out in it......

Lyndonville, NY

It hasn't started here yet...but everyone is waiting and preparing. They funny thing, sometimes 12 inches of snow wouldn't even close schools here. It all depends on the "wind" that comes with it, how it drifts.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Debbie since this is coming in from the ocean - all I can say is watch out!!! They can be nasty.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Maggie, so glad to see you posting! You enjoy that dinner, and being with the family!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Welcome back Maggie...

Susan, hope you have a wonderful first day!

Thank you all my friends for holding me close. I really need you all now and it's so comforting knowing that you're here and I can cry on your shoulder or b**ch and you'll understand.

It's 16 here right now with a windchill of 5. Think I'll stay in and start some Christmas baking. Just what my waist needs.........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Made it in to work, drove slowly, took my time but it's snowing and blowing! Suzanne and I are here but girls aren't in yet but then the girls are usually 15 minutes to 1/2 late every dat.

If it does get too bad we'll call Paul and I'll transfer telephone to my place as they are calling for bad weather tomorrow, would love to stay home tomorrow because of Sears coming to repair my washer.

Maggie, Lord does answer prayers, so nice to see you post, have a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner..don't overdo!!!

Debbie you be careful, stay inside

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh JOYCE!!! Big big big hugs and lots and lots of prayers!!! You are NOT selfish, you need to keep yourself busy, busy is good!

Sometimes Judy nothing happens but life itself. Cute ornament!

What a silly boy, he should have stayed at your place but I guess he made it, sort of safely.

LOL LOL Don't worry Betty, we're in the mid 40's for our high today. Bright brilliant sunshine though! (I know, rub it in rub it in!)

Debbie, Barb, Diann, it's nasty weather up there!!!!

Maggie so glad you're home, but I bet your gladder! Wait, that's not a word, I bet your happier!!!! Glad your able to do things too, that's great!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

You've reminded me Crissy of my SIL that past away a few years ago, her favorite saying was 'more the better' and 'gladder than glad' ..lol

Dannie just called me from Montreal Quebec to say her dad is not very well, he's holding on to see this Christmas! She did say although she's dealing with her life she misses her boys but that she will not go home to live but would stay in the area until spring when she can give notice to a couple who have rented a home she owns in Honey Harbour and then move in so asked if I was up to company..told her yes as long as she didn't expect me to stay up past 8pm! Sounded like it would be some time before she comes but she did say she wants to be here for Christmas and by then Rose will have gone back to the city and she can have that room. Told her that there are 2 free rooms and regardless if Rose is here she's welcome to come..who knows, made the offer yet another time, now it's up to her..she did say though she would pay for her accommodations, don't want her to pay anything, we agreed to talk about it later but she did say she loves to cook so that will be her daily chore, having a meal ready for when I come home.

Still snowing but not as badly!

Lexington Park, MD

Betty that would be nice to have someone to cook meals.Sounds like she just wants to make sure you do not mind her being there.
Snow????? I am hearing this. It is really cold and windy down here.
Pot of chili on will be ready at 5pm if anyone wants.
Back to sewing......

Victoria Harbour, ON

Love chili, thanks, save me the leftovers if there is any!

Yes, think she wants to take over some of my chores, cooking was not one of them though..lol

Greg just called me to tell me that the owners of the company said he did such a good job this past year being manager of the company that they gave him and Melanie a week's vacation in the Dominican - a suite no less with hot tub in the room, he's flying high. Kyle is in exams that week so he'll go to his other grandparents and Noah will stay with me..that's wonderfu for all, especially me getting to spend time with Noah, guess I'll have to be a hockey grandma.

Mom called today, all in a frazzle, specialist will give her a letter saying they want mri on right leg but will not give her letter for left..he hasn't checked the left leg out so that a no go . She can't understand why she can't just go do it, told her she'd be throwing money away. Also told her that Dianne offered to go with me day after Boxing Day to get her things from Clearwater Flo. she says she doubts it will be necessary because she'll go shortly..omg..shaking my head here..can't win so that's that, I offered but not changing my life anymore to have her come back and say 'no'!

No more complaining.

Laura, you are not getting snow are you..It's stopped here, 25 degrees but are calling for more tonight, hard to believe as I can see blue sky.

Tubby this joke is for you:

A little girl asked her mother, "How did the human race start?" The mother answered, "God made Adam and Eve and they had childre and so all of mankind was made."

Two days later the girl asked her father the same question. The father answered, "Many, many years ago there were monkeys from which the human race evolved."

The confused little girl returned to her mother and said, "Mom, how is it possible that you told me the human race was created by God and Dad said they developed from monkeys?"

The mother answered, "Well dear, it is very simple, I told you about MY side of the family and YOUR father told you about his."

Too cute

Lexington Park, MD

Oh Betty that is so funny.
No snow here but cold enough.
Plenty of chile and it was gooood.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Getting ready to leave, stormy..not sure why it's always stormy when you leave for work and leave to go home..drats and more drats!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I had a Terrific first day at work. Because I'd worked at a "branch" of the company (worked at Calgary Lab Services admin, and now I work at their Alberta Health Services HR dept, who manages CLS), I found it relatively easy to "slip into" this role. Same job, with different bosses, at a different location, really........
For the first hour they took me around the floor, to meet everyone. Then I got a "Welcome" binder, and skimmed through it....... then I got on the phone to confirm accesses and got most of them resolved. It was funny when one of the tech support guys said "are you the same Susan MacKenzie...." yes, I am, so we chatted for a minute about that LOL
As for the rest, my boss Jerri was really pleased with the initiatives I took today, and the fact that I am already trying to get her office set up so she can turn her computer with it's back to the door and her facing the door (right now she has her back to the door and anyone can read from her computer.....)
They provided me with a cell phone, told me I may be traveling with them and other stuff....... kewl - how about Maui?!?!? lol Traveling isn't a definite, however. They'll provide me with a laptop as well.
All in all, a very productive first day.

Lyndonville, NY

OH SUSAN! That sounds just wonderful! A fit like a glove so far. Very exciting and will make the rest of it much more smooth.

Verona, ON

Oh Susan if your first day is any indication of how this new job is going to be you, would have to give it an A wouldn't you? I am so happy for you!!
Maggie how was your turkey dinner? You and your family sure have lots to be thankful for, glad your sis is there to help.
Laura your talk about chili made my taste buds think they wanted chili too. Went to the freezer and all I could find was venison chili so we had that.I usually make a great big pot of venison chili for the guys to take to the hunting camp, they didn't go this year as a family emergency came up for 1 fellow so we have lots of it frozen.
Betty and Debbie I hate to tell you this but we only have a dusting of snow. Not saying it too loudly or the Weather Fairy wwill hear and we will get dumped on. And NO contrary to what my sis Debbie is saying I did not send the bad weather to her.
Hope your drive home was uneventful Betty.
Time to stoke the fire and read for a bit.
Dianne

Lyndonville, NY

OK Betty, where are you tonight. You haven't checked in since you left from work.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Lots more good to my day than I posted, for sure, but it was good. Thanks for all your support, dear friends!!

Betty - where are you? Your puter is working ever so well, so you must have been tired, and headed off to sleep early........ asleep on the couch, maybe?
