Best/Worse/what did I learn today? Visit with friends!!!

Lexington Park, MD

Oh Barb that is great news. I cannot begin to understand what you both went through today but glad it was great news.
Fingers crossed for job interview.

Lyndonville, NY

Ok, we are supposed to have "thunder snow" tonight. Thunder, lightening and snow. This should be interesting!

No snow coming down so far today, and most of what we had melted off, can see the grass thru...that could be from the dog rolling all over though.

Regarding the Nook......I know you can share books, don't know how at all! In all honesty, I read mostly romance or comedy/fiction. I can't read anything scary. lol Most of the books I have gotten, are the "free nookbooks" from Barnes and Noble site.

No new update from Maggie today...but will post if I do hear.

Lexington Park, MD

Oh I read mostly mystery no romance sorry. But will learn to share on the NOOK.
What is "thunder snow"? Never heard of that before.

Lyndonville, NY

Instead of having a down right rain storm......its so cold it turns to snow, with the rest of it as a regular thunder storm.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, what great news Barb, couldn't have been given a better Christmas present now could you. Now if Norm gets the job your life will be back to order..how long before he goes for another check-up or is he done..

Did talk to Ann yesterday, very/very discouraged..I posted before that on 1st trip for chemo they got robbed, 2nd. came back to a flood, 3rd. ceiling in their brand new addition is leaking, mold present (not good for Mike) so the building came and did a temp. repair but she is devastated, cannot understand WHY a black cloud looms their house?? so prayers appreciated..

Judy, now wouldn't it be something if you've talked yourself into a job??

Debbie, crazy weather we are having..didn't go outside yet this morning but it seems mild, maybe it will melt the snow we have.

Can hear Rose upstairs rushing about, I was up extra early, been doing another rag quilt for Jeff's girlfriend and looked at the time, she's on her way to Ottawa for the weekend, took the day off, someone from town giving her a ride to Barrie so she can catch the 7:30a.m. bus to Toronto..was to pick her up at 5:20am and here it was 5:10 and she was still in bed..just don't understand it..asked her why she didn't get up the first time I called her, said she's not a morning person, can understand that BUT...lol...so off she goes on another adventure; 2 more weeks and no more Rose!!

Might end up with Dannie though, she's talking about coming from Montreal to deal with all the issues (DH/kids) so we'll see, made the offer can't do more than that.

Had hoped to hear how Maggie was, guess she's resting and recoup'ing..

Not going to gab too long as I have been having difficulties with my computer losing contact with service provider so stopped off last night at a computer shop, she said if I dropped it off early this morning on my way to work she MIGHT have it ready for my trip home..said she'd clear everything off as she thinks I've some kind of virus..Jeff is so busy at work that I don't want to ask him to do it, best pay the $$$ and be self sufficient in what needs to be done; not knowing a whole lot about computers and set-up I want to disconnect and mark all reconnects so I don't run into problems...if she can't fix then guess I'll be shopping for a new one..

Gab when I get to work..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the good wishes regarding Norm He sees either the oncologist or the dermatologist every three months. They are keeping a really good watch over him and I'm truly grateful.
My prayers go out to Ann and Mike. I posted another card this week. It's not much but I hope she knows how often I think of them and that my prayers are ongoing.
Debbie, I've never heard of Thunder Snow either. I imagine it is quite an experience. Do you get lightening too???
Prayers being said for Maggie this morning. Hope this operation did the trick for her and that the doctors are able to know what caused her lung to collapse in the first place. Our bodies are so amazing.....

Waving good morning to all - fuzzy brain this early in the morning - heehee. Hope your day is great.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

We've had flurries this week quite a bit and this weekend everywhere around us is supposed to get snow, but we are only supposed to get a slight dusting if anything....

Oh man-poor Ann and Mike-when it rains it poors. Maybe Susan can send them some of her good luck;)

Thunder snow sounds kind of cool.

Calling for bad weather later this afternoon, think Debbie is blowing hard my way as from what I understand they have had major snow..brrr 30 here right now.

You have no idea Barb just how heartfelt your cards are, she always says, to think an individual I've never met before would think of us so often..she's grateful and I even more so

It's good to see that they schedule Norm periodically for check up, must feel doom and gloom when it's time but oh what a lovely feeling when they tell you all is well.

Going to check your link Stacey...

Drats, some of you just had to pick purple right? lol went in search of supplies and it's a rare color for what I propose to do for each of you, going to check another distributor and see.

Dropped my computer tower off this morning, not sure if I did it right, getting everything taken off or should I have gone and bought a brand new one..

If she says it's fixable and not in the hundreds I think I might take a run and buy the kiln so I can play this weekend

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

PS Betty - my favorite color is green!!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, glad it wasn't purple, lol..do you wear glasses?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

All the time!!!! I can't see for beans without them.....

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Barb - poor Ann & Mike - praying for the "dark cloud" to lift!! So glad Norm has an interview!! YeeeeeeeeHaw!!
Glad also to hear that they're watching Mike carefully! Tell him that beet juice is good for cancer, apparently - as per Dr. Oz lol I'll have to check out his website sometime....

Betty - there's a reason why they call it "rebooting the computer", cuz we want to take steel-toed boots to it!! Have you tried a ball-peen hammer???? Let's hope the physical techies can do what the phone-in techies can't - and quickly/cheaply for a long-lasting fix!!
Betty - what are you needing the fav colours and our eye-glass wearing info for?????

Wonder how Maggie is doing.................. Prayers being said for her

I'm going to the Police Station downtown today, to get my Criminal Check done, for my new job.
Taking the bus, because parking is hard to find, and Very Expensive!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, lol, many a time I'd have loved the re-boot it!!! actually this morning at 6am..was posting just before unplugging everything, sat at the edge of the chair (with casters) chair went head over tea kettle, I fell and hit my head on the cupboard behind me, drats and more drats..

Did speak to the lady at computer shop, said it was awfully dirty (most likely sawdust) lol..said I should get my e-mail via g mail instead of outlook, then said she'd add more memory so it seems like everything is a go for me to pick up tonight BUT, here goes the big BUT (in more ways than one) do hope I can figure out where all the wires go..did label but think there were a lot of wires just sitting there...

You might not hear from me until the new year..lol

No, just wondered who wears glasses, mind is working overtime, have something floating around in it for you all..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Barb, that is great news about Norms test all clean! Sending big prayers that he gets the job soon!
Betty, so sorry to hear all the problems Mike and Ann are having! Don't know the Canadian laws, but if an inspector finds black mold in the hosue they will make you move out immediately, and not allowed to return, until all moldy parts are removed completely! Saying prayers for them too!

Goodness, hope your OK after whacking your head on the cupboard!

Don't know what your up to, but I also like dark blue, if that will help!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty (said in stern voice!!!) Do Not Do That Again!!! We don't like you Whacking your head!!!!!!!
I have actually told customers (when I did tech support) to get their ball peen hammer LOL
Well, better get cleaned up and go to the Station for my Criminal Check LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Amazed at how things and plans change at the blink of an eye..

So disappointed, called to tell Gord at the stained glass shop that I'd be in at 3 to pick up the kiln and all was ok..just called me, went to box it up and it's gone, guess Angie sold it yesterday so now have to wait until Tuesday night or Wedn. lunch hours to get it as he has to go to city to pick up another..here I was all anxious to make jewelery this weekend..oh well, guess I'll catch up on other things, it's not like I don't have enough to keep me busy. Am sure you all know me by now, when I get my mind around something I want to do it..drats and more drats..

Dark blue you say LindaKay..hmmm..once I organize myself think I'll let you all know and give some options..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Susan, I'm laughing, here I put Jeff through University, he's chairman of a division that makes programs for some of the world's largest computer companies and here I am taking mine out for repair.

His biggest complaint is going to visit and someone saying 'I've computer problems can you look at it' so always try to avoid doing that..his 41st birthday is Dec. 8th..going to get him a card, put the receipt in it and say 'sorry about the birthday gift, had to fix my computer instead' LOL big time...

Actually in the spring I bought all the kids and grandchildren passes to Canada Wonderland Theme park so I didn't have to purchase birthday gifts..am sure he'll get a laugh out of it.

Tossing in my mind, do I go pick up a salad or go to wool and fabric shop????

gab after

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I am easy going for colors. Just not a fan of overly vibrant or green..don't like most greens at all. Which is funny because most of my house is green inside..but a particular deep hunter green/jade green hues.

DH is home today, got some tires for my van off Craigs list, and went to pick them up. So much drama up here....I am beyond wanting to get my refridgerater box and be on my way. Wish my Mom would reach down and smack my daughters upside the head.

Lyndonville, NY

Get a salad...you need nutrition!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, I'll do it for your mom, lead me to them..hate drama, been there done that and ain't going back looking for more..lol With the snow they say Buffalo is getting, hurrah for the snow tires.

No lunch, only another hour to work, dropped in the fabric/wool store, 20% off all merchandise today, nope, didn't buy anything, bought enough..came out spending almost $11.00, skein of black wool for dickies that i was short of and a spool of thread, yikes $7.99 shaking my head...remember when they good thread was less than $1.00..tells you how old I am..lol

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Betty, I like greens too. and wear glasses. get food.

Barb, HURRAY for norms clean Dr news, and well wishes on the job....

Love and Hugs to all....

Lexington Park, MD

Ok if I did not know better I would say there is snow in my future. It is 39 and the sun just set . So cloudy and cold. What are you guys doing up north blowing all that down to us????

Lyndonville, NY

I tried blowing it to Canada, because they sent it to us first...but it backfired.

Be warned, they just got from 3ft to 4 ft of snow...just south of Buffalo.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ok, first rule of being a techie, is to get tired of people constantly asking them to work when it's their time off, so I really understand what you mean about not wanting to bother him........

"Tossing......." means a tossed salad, right? LOL

YAY NORM!!!!!! You Go Guy!!!

i suddenly can"t make a capital letter< and it seems as though my shift key is stuck on for some odd reason< i can"t make an apostrophe or comma either> THIS IS WEIRD, OH LOOK AT THAT!! Ok, back to normal, that was very very odd...

Mike and Anne I am soooo sorry you have this black cloud on top of you, at some point this has got to go away!!

Shoot, here I go again forgetting what I'm gonna say...

Ouch Betty, I bet you saw stars!

Betty I remember when a spool of thread was under a buck, it hasn't been that long ago. I wish I could remember when bras were under $30.00... lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL..just finished hooking up the computer, let's see if I'm still on service providers power come morning, hope so..

Very/very tired so heading off to bed, will gab in the morning

Night night everyone

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Not feeling that gabby tonight....... gonna just play on the system (jigsaw puzzles!!) and see what other mischief I can get up to lol

Lyndonville, NY

Some good news, Maggie is HOME!

Hemet, CA(Zone 9b)

Jumping in here again

My dear H.S. sweetheart that died of a heart attack last month, left my two older sons (their father) much more than they could ever expected. He was not their for them through the years , however he was no doubt thinking of them as he left them some very special things and a good amount of money. Also my 2nd oldest son brought me some of his ashes on Thanksgiving in a zip lock bag with DAD printed on it.
That made me cry so much. They are still in my car, as I'm not so sure what to do with them yet. I'm waiting for the Lord to make it clear to me. This means so very much to me to have those ashes. I'm not even sure why???

Please pray for me to have wisdom as to where to place these ashes. I'm going to cry so I'll stop now.
Thank you all so much for your listening and prayers,
Sylvia

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Sylvia, I can understand that emotion. It is so very hard.

Have you seen the "lockets" that have little areas inside to put your loved ones ashes? You can just put a tiny bit...and they will always be with you. Is there a favorite place the two of you used to go? Your spot? Your restaurant? You could sprinkle a little at each place. You will find out whats right for you.

I am glad he came thru for your sons. Sometimes Dads just don't know how to be a dad and show things...but the love is there deep inside.

Hugs,
Debbie

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sylvia - please don't be offended, but you need to check the local laws to see if you can spread ashes anywhere, and if you can't (some local laws Will let you, and others Won't), then maybe keeping them on your mantle or, as Debbie suggested, a locket.......
I'm glad he "came through" for your boys - it shows he Really was thinking of them through the years ^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good morning all, well, came to the computer and I'm still connected so the problem must be solved .. amen to that!

My page though isn't as large as the screen, leaving about 1" on right hand side and when I type I'm finished almost a row of typing before it shows up, hmmm might call the young lady who repaired and ask why?

Regardless, I'm able to gab with you all so that's wonderful!

Sylvia, my heart goes out to you, difficult time for you and yours. Debbie had such a great suggestion about the locket, I'd have never thought of that. I had some ashes given to me and I've a special area in my garden where I've planted special plant/shrub in memory of, know Susan said there are laws about where you can put the ashes, I personally WOULD NOT ask..how is anyone to know you sprinkled ashes, put them where you feel comfortable putting them. (soory Susan, my opinion only) sending prayers and warm hugs Sylvia..we're as close of the keyboard anytime you need someone to talk with..

Bitter cold outside, good day just to stay in and finish projects I need to do, might even throw in dusting to my list.

Debbie, don't head out today, think storming in Buffalo still isn't it? Ann's daughter was going Christmas shopping in Buffalo this weekend, might not be a good time to go..

Did I tell you Ann dropped something on her foot yesterday and broke a toe or two..then as Mike with chemo has been feeling chilled they purchased a gas fireplace oh about 2 months ago, broke down again, 3rd time the company comes in to fix, I'd be telling them to take it out and replace with another.

Must have turned the heat down last night, best I go turn it up, bit chilly here.

Bev, Shirley/Tubby and Laura our Australian friend, need updates, been awhile since we've heard how you are doing and starting to fret again..

As for Maggie, so glad she's home, hopefully resting and not overdoing...

Gab with you later

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Health ok so far. Had to put my dear black lab Blue down the 30th. I am just so depressed. Hugs to all BEV

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Bev, I'm so sorry to hear you had to put Blue down, no greater friend did you have..had he been ill? Glad you are feeling somewhat better health wise, sure hope you don't overdo..how are things going with Scotty? not being too demanding I hope..

Made my day seeing you post, was getting worried!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Scotty is always demanding and rotten. Blue had loose hips and was hurting in the cold weather and was getting old too. He was loosing weight and I knew he would not make it through the winter. I am going back to rehab three days a week. I just love walking on the tred mill. Got a very sweet nurse named Priscilla. I need to start sending pics again huh??? LOVE YOU ALL HUGS BEV

Yes you do, always look forward to seeing them...don't know how many times I've said you should have them printed, glued to note cards and sell them in pkgs. of 6..I'd buy some in a flash and am sure others would as well...still have to send Scotty a hug but he's got to stop giving you more attitude or I'll stop..

Lexington Park, MD

Bev so sorry about Blue but if he was in alot of pain then it was for the best. Tread mill walking is good sounds like fun. And a good nurse to boot.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

So glad to see you post Bev but I'm so sorry about Blue. It's had to lose those we love be they furry or not... Sending gentle hugs to you....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Bev Great to see you posting, I was getting worried too! I'm so sorry about Good Ole Blue, big big big hugs for that one. Betty sent Scotty a hug to try to straighten him out, I'm just gonna send him a bonk on the head lol Walking on a treadmill is fun, and it's a great way to build strength, yay for sweet nurse! You deserve it!

Sylvia big big big big hugs to you hun. Debbie does have a great idea about the locket, and I wouldn't call either, it's not like your putting a monument in front of a store, no one will notice ashes.

Well I've a busy day today, gonna clean and decorate the house for Christmas! Woo Hoo!!! I'm getting my computer fix while my coffee starts working first though.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

A woman here in town did her husbands wishes and put his ashes in a windchime outside her bedroom window.
