What ya reading Debbie??

Lyndonville, NY

Its a Christmas story Home in Time for Christmas, was a "free read" thru my Nook. A guy was getting hung diring the War back in the 1700s, and as the noose dropped....he pretty much time traveled to now. Now they are working on getting him back to that time before Christmas. Thats the "round abouts" of the story. Not loving it, but it is keeping me parked

Morning, bit slow on the move this morning, tell you all about it in a bit...
Drive in was terrible, heavy rains, high wind and all I could think about was sure hope temperature doesn't drop or we'll have an ice rink! It's 40 right now and they are saying by mid afternoon the heavier rains will come so you are right Dianne/Debby best be prepared.

Will you go with Hubby Dianne to the dentist? don't think there is much that gives you more pain than an infected tooth and worse part is they cannot take out while full of infection.

Glad Debbie that you are paying attention to doctor's orders, not sure which is which having the feet swell or the hands swell? They let you have free books on Nook, never did purchase one..thought I might ask santa for one but I'm terrible, even younger children aren't as bad, first it's the Nook, then a new computer (either desk or laptop) and now a glass firing jewelery kiln so tell me which shall I ask Santa for??? help me out you guys..lol

LindaKay it's hard to believe there is only 5 degrees difference this morning between your temp and mine..listening to the news this morning on my way in and they were saying that England and parts of Scotland are dealing with a major snow storm and ice...not trying to be unkind but let them have it, I want the no snow kind of Dec.well perhaps not, let's say until the 20th or so then let it snow, let it snow! Greg would throttle me if he heard me talk this way, his new snowmobile is gased up just waiting for a few snowflakes, he dropped in last night and I forgot to ask if he took it for a spin on Saturday morning when we had a few inches..lol

Judy enjoyed gabbing as well..was telling Judy I enrolled in a telephone plan, have 500 minutes a month for Canada and USA so I'll be able to make some calls BUT you probably would never guess, I'm not really a telephone person but I'm going to try!

Now for my morning, remember in July my friend Dannie came to spend a week, was having difficulties at home, loved having her, great company and we did some road travelling, one being Elvis Festival? then a few weeks ago I mentioned she was in Montreal Quebec as her father is very close to the end (cancer), well she returned home last Friday and because of stress and her DH acting up she just can't take it any longer, doesn't want to pack up and go back to Montreal because she'd be too far from the 3 sons. She spent the day at Darlene's yesterday and this morning Darlene called, said she didn't want to get anyone upset or have me say I'd do something that I really don't want to do BUT would I be willing to have Dannie come and stay at the house even though Rose is still there?? Dannie was afraid to ask, told Darlene ABSOLUTELY, an extra bedroom awaits her arrival if she feels she needs to get away for a few days, weeks, month etc and if she decides to stay a bit longer Rose will be leaving on the 17th and she can have that room. Not sure what will happen, doors are never locked, told Darlene to tell Dannie to come and make herself at home. Now she'd be worried about the boys home schooling..big craft room downstairs, she could always go get them in the morning and bring them home in the afternoon, probably about a 15 to 20 minute drive..goes to show you doesn't it, you can have all the $$$, a mansion on the lake and things can still go wrong!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Maggie, didn't forget you sweetie, posted on the Christmas thread but do want you to know we're all praying..it's all about you right now, you have to make sure you follow doctor/nurses orders so you are well and home for Christmas, all else can wait. sending hugs along prayers!

Lexington Park, MD

Betty I thought work was to put in a line at home so you do not have to go out. Now would be the time. I do not like to drive in the white stuff and cannot imagine ice. Now maybe if I had a big truck or suv then maybe.
Off to post office to mail some swap stuff out. It is 61 and cloudy.

Lexington Park, MD

Debbie I also have a nook. I think you can share books. Not sure how to but I have some Patterson and stuff like that. Is it done through the computer? What do you read?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((((((Betty)))))))))))))) you're a saint, no 2 ways about it!! ^_^ It will be good to have Dannie there, I know.... I sent an email about Rich vs Poor friends, and not sure if I sent it to you, Betty, but here it is:
One day, a father of a very wealthy family took his son to the country, with the express idea of showing him the difference between Rich people and Poor people. They stayed at the home of what would be considered a very poor family, living in a shack.
On the return from their trip, the father asked "how did you enjoy your trip?" "It was great". "Did you learn the difference between rich and poor people?" "I sure did!" "What did you learn from the trip?" "I learned we have one dog, and they have four; We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end; We have imported lanterns and they have stars at night; We have a small patio and they have the whole horizon; We have a small lot of land we live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight; We have servants that serve us and they serve others; We buy our food, and they grow their own; We have walls around us to protect us and they have friends to protect them" The boy's father was speechless. Then the boy added "Thanks Dad, for showing me how poor we are"

I'm enriched by having you as friends, rich or poor.........

Busy busy busy busy busy today! Got to get this crap cleared off of my desk this week!

Betty a lot of times money causes problems, you can't buy love and happiness! I was once told by someone who had a lot of money that money is nice, but it's not everything.

Stacey here's what it looks like:

Betty, you have a heart of gold, and I thank you for opening your home to your friends in need!
Please drive careful going home today!

Laura, Paul is working hard at getting the 2 new offices going before the changeover. He hired a staff member for Peterborough and it didn't work out so now back to hiring a staff member again, if it weren't for my seeing him really try I'd have left but until he gets it to where it's all operational then the change over will take place.

Crissy, it's a lovely kit, how much did you pay??? will work up into a lovely blanket.

Susan, going to print that one off as well..isn't it the truth!

Warmin up out there, now 43, doubt it will get warmer.

Called the stained glass studio that I was at on Sunday and my pieces have been fired..she said that usually the little glass blocks of glass that I put to level the top would work but apparently they've left the markings so interesting to see, if they aren't ok I'll just make a couple more and learn from my mistakes..no big deal!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, don't you think when you've experienced mega hard times that it makes you more open to make things easier for people..if she does come then it will be my 'pay it forward' a day early..Pay it forward is Dec. 1st. isn't it?

Who knows, today is another day, things may have calmed down..with death at the door for her father, being away 2 entire weeks and things like septic flooding on the inside of their home might have had everyone on the edge..let's hope they can work things out!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We will be praying for her! Stress levels can get anyone into tropuble, let alone trying to deal with family matters like that!
Thanks for giving her a plcae to stay, and vent!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just talked to Darlene, she said that she didn't want to call her early this morning to tell her I said she was welcome so she went and put a note on Dannie's vehicle..apparently she is gone and nobody knows where including Darlene who is hoping that she has gone to my house..Darlene said her hubby talked to her for about 2 hrs. today and says the 2 descriptions of what is happening are far apart, as normal there are always 3 sides, his/hers and the truth! But door still open (always is)

Went to the studio and picked up my Sunday jewelery projects..they turned out lovely, at least I think they did..have about 8 more sets to make, bought various other glass so maybe tonight before BINGO I'll make them...now if you cross you fingers and wish hard (can't waste prayers on such trivial things) that I win bingo I could buy all what is on my santa list..lol

Come on, big wish!!!

Remember, web cam doesn't take the best photo's

Oh Betty how pretty. An no two are alike. Is it difficult to do?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Easier than easy..pick your base color, and with same glass and dichronic glass (?) cut and put on your base color, then cut a clear piece about 1/4 " wider than your original (can be square, round, oval etc) and fire..voila, glue the clasp and you've got an original

Beautiful work. And this is a class?

Victoria Harbour, ON

She just showed us how to and did the firing..any additional firing that I bring in is $10. per firing which I could fit about 8 pieces..debating, kiln is $599.99 + tax, would be nice to have, we'll see..kids will be shaking their heads as I keep changing my 'santa, please bring me!!!!' lol

If I do some tonight I'll show you just how simple

Lexington Park, MD

OK I will keep my eye out. I need to go to bus stop get kids. I think we will do the tree and decorating tonight.
We were going to do over the weekend but middle child was with her dad. (story behind that later)

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

OMG! They're lovely! Yadungud!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Be nice for you Laura to get ahead of the game, getting the tree up always gives you that feeling that you have to get organized, christmas coming!

Joyce, how are you doing sweetie.. Know your mom recently had her tests done,no results yet? guess it might take a little longer right?
48 here this afternoon, omg almost spring.

Mike went for another chemo and tests today, 2 more to go, Ann is trying to encourage him to go visit his mom in a seniors home but he won't, told Ann perhaps she should call the home and let them know just how ill Mike is and that way they won't call him for every little thing..

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Yes, Betty, she had the PETscan yesterday. Now we go Friday morning to get those results and to see what treatment options are best for her.

Just in case you have a need to use those USA minutes...my cell is 937-789-8663! ;o)

Edited to add: Temperature right now is 50.6*. It was a high today of 56. Tomorrow is only expected to get to 34 and in the next 7 days the highest prediction is 40. And so it begins.........

Cookie, we are sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way!

Betty, those jewelry pieces are so pretty! Sounds like you are talking yourself into the kiln! Is the glass expensive?

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm supposed to have another phone interview.....keep your fingers crossed for me!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

All fingers, toes, legs, eyes.... A few prayers too!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Everything that is crossable is crossed!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm with the others, between all that can be crossed and prayers you are sure to get the position...prayers also for you mom, know you are worried sick.

Glass, from what I gather I could make about 30 sets for about $90.00 excluding the firing, that's WHY I think santa should bring me one right? so if one had a kiln then about $3 to $4 a set..you know me and my matching outfits and watches, wouldn't it be grand to add earings and pendant..over doing it aren't I..but could make some for my FRIENDS!!!

Got your number Joyce..

Glad I'm not frightened of the dark, lordy it's so dark out there you can't see anything and it's only 4:30..maybe it's because of the rain.

Joyce - I'm so crossed I look grumpy, and I may not be able to straighten out again LOL
((((((((((((Joyce))))))))))))) Prayers being said for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Betty - I hope that Dannie IS at your house, otherwise you & Darlene'll be worried! I'm sure she is there!!

Lexington Park, MD

Is it possible to make buttons like you put on a shirt? You would need to be able to have hole before firing.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Cathy called and said she was at the post office today and I had a parcel so she brought it to my house, said the house was empty??? I had told Dannie the last time that any time day or night if she felt she needed a place just walk in..and yes, she's been on meds for her nerves, could be that and worry that is doing it..don't want to be worrying about her for sure..

Victoria Harbour, ON

You could, apparently there is a fiber (?) that you and put between the glass if you want to insert a fine necklace, no clasp so imagine that you can do same..I'll have to ask. When I bring my pieces for firing towards the end of the week they have a book on firing and such, think I'll pick it up..drats, sold 2 large kilns years ago, should have kept them

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Dianne - I was very pleased to get your Christmas card in the mail today ^_^ Thank you so much!! A very pleasant surprise!! ((((Dianne)))))

Victoria Harbour, ON

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.......ok so I can't sing but I can tell time and it's time to call it a day!

Leaving with Bingo cards in hand...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Saying a special "Betty" prayer for good luck on Bingo tonight!!! I know I bought 2 lottery tickets (Never usually buy them......) but got only 2#s on one of 'em LOL
Guess my job is my answered prayer ^_^

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

This is from Maggie!

I'm so scared... I just had 2 surgeons come talk to me in my room. My lung is still collapsed. Even after having the bigger chest tube put in yesterday. I have 1 of 2 choices.

#1. A 3rd chest tube that's about the size of a quarter (current one is the size of a dime.)

#2. A long scary surgery...

He would cut 3 small holes...one for camera, one for tubes, and one for surgery tools. I will be put to sleep and they will use a camera to look for, find, and STAPLE CLOSED the hole. Then with some abrasive tool, scuff the inside of my chest and that will hold in place, a fully inflated lung. He made it very clear that this is extremely painful. :(

I'm going with the surgery because a 3rd tube could fail and I'd still end up with the surgery anyway. At 8 am tomorrow. This will be my 3rd surgery in a week. I'm so scared and I'm still by myself. My poor husband is scared and is checking with his boss for someone to watch our kids. I never leave my babies with anyone! :(.

I'm sorry for my "cry baby" post.

Glenview, IL

Oh My prayers continue on...Maggie, Sending you most gentle Arm Wraps. ((((((((((((((((Maggie)))))))))))))))))))).
I hope your Dh will be able to get a good friend to watch the children. I know thats hard but you need to be together.

I will be praying all day for a successful Surgery.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh Maggie - I know you're scared hon....... I am, and it's not me............
((((((((((((((((Maggie)))))))))))))))))))) bless you, dear......the Lord is watching over you, and I'm sure your DH's boss will arrange something. He needs to be with you, as he's scared too!
The two of you will reassure each other...... bless you both!!

I'm praying for a successful surgery for you, ((((((((((Maggie))))))))

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Crissy-if you are sure-if you want I can make it and send it back to you....

OMG-poor Maggie!!! I can't even imagine what she is going through! And not being able to see the kids or her DH-poor thing. I will keep my fingers crossed that her surgery goes well.

Lexington Park, MD

Maggie prays and hugs to you. I surely hope someone can watch kids for you so DH can be there tomorrow.
