Morning! Its catching Betty - I have been up all night, was Sat. night too, just had a 45 min nap on Sun.aft.Needless to say I am not as bright eyed and bushy tailed as I usually am at this hour.
Looking forward to having a muffin. You will miss Rose Betty - how wonderful though for her to have had the experience of working in your town, visiting with your friends.Bet she doesn't get another accommdation as great with her next placement.
Judy I am so envious - we have wanted what seems like forever to see the TransSiberian. What a wonderful, wonderful gift from Julia.Love the shoes - I usually go barefoot so have like 1 pair of Sunday- go- to - Meeting shoes, haven't been inside a shoe store for years. I'm afraid to now.lol
So Mary was the house intact when you and DH got home? Just kidding, I know your kids would know better. Years ago when we lived in the old farm house on the township road the neighbours across the way had gone overnight and left their 3 teens alone for the first time. Around 11 pm Sat night a huge tree just collapsed across the road just brushing a car - thankfully noone was hurt. But..... the road was closed right down for a few hours, FD, OPP and ambulance were all dispatched and noone could stand down until given the order from on high. Anyway my neighbours were trying to get home, anxious because they had left the kids and there was a road block. When they asked they were told there was a situation at 1 of the houses but the cop would say no more. They were panicing as they heard people say oh it is something at the small white house. Yep that's their house. Their oldest DD was quite a party girl and they figured she had invited several friends in while they were gone and something had gone awry. Darlene is trying to call me but I unplug the phone at night so they started to run up the road.......all they could think of was they were going to kill their DD. They were shocked that the problem was only this tree across the road - a huge oak, needed a commercial chainsaw to get through it. I was taking the firemen and police coffee and I saw them (the parents) running up.... I quickly ran into the house and got Darlene a cup of tea I knew she was going to need it. We can all laugh now but at the time as parents those 2 just were so upset.
Debbie, saw you posted Axel boy's pic for Lee. She is going to have to have a rotating screen saver, how do you pick only 1 shot of Axel?
More coffee is definitely needed. DH wanted to cut and split another cord of wood today so hopefully that will really make me weary tonight.
BBL. Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today ladies!!
Dianne
Best/Worse/what did I learn today? Visit with friends!!!
I would love the faces Betty. I'd like to make two or three of them to use as gifts for next year. That way I can take my time with them and not rush. It seems like that is all I'm doing lately is rushing and not feeling like I'm getting anywhere. What's with that????? So take all the time you need too!!!
Have been saying extra prayers for Mike and Ann - I'll drop a card in the mail this week.
I'm so glad you had a good trip Mary. And I'm glad that your DH opened up about his feelings regarding the cajun stuff. At least now you know the reason for his reluctance to go there. And I can understand him not wanting to tell you and possibly hurting your feelings. A successful trip I'd say.
Stacey - you might want to change your needle even though you say it's still sharp. From what you said, you've used it for a while and they get burrs on the shaft that you can't see or feel but that the thread catches on. After seeing all you have done, I would have used at least two needles doing that. Just my opinion hon....And I did see your post about the bag. I'm so happy that others like it as much as you......
Wow Dianne, your neighbors were sure lucky and I can relate to the worry of leaving them alone the first time. I never had a problem thank heaven but that fear was there. I'm leaving the wood splitting to you!! Those days are over for me....
I'm off to bake cookies this morning so I can get the last of my swaps out. Have a great day everyone...
Oh what kind of cookies are you baking today?
Here I sit, not much to do, brought in some scratch art..worked on Greg's rag quilt early this morning, added 3 more rows, 1 more and it's ready for the washing machine, drats it is heavy..13 square long and 11 squares wide..seeing as he's 6'3" had to cover from head to toe..will be glad that one is behind me, now I can start on the next one..hoping I have squares left from it and I'll take ALL the square from all 6 rag quilts and make Melanie one, blanket of many colors..lol..made her an afghan but she says she'd love a rag quilt..told her it was too late but I'm sure it's manageable.
It's 30 degrees here today, overcast but no snow..fine with that!!
Did I tell you all, remember I had back deck screened in, porch was on an angle from the roof so when I closed it in with plastic it had to be done with ladder and quite the chore, then when I closed it in he built the ends so it's a matter of just stappling plastic..the snow on Friday was so fine and the winds were horrible and there was a little skim on the floor so decided I'd add the plastic from within, called Timbrr mart and they close at 5:30, if I speed I just might make it tonight on my way home to pick some up, Greg got a roll at Home Depot for me last night but it's so thin, thinner than baggies and then get it closed in am sure it would be fine but I'm a worrywart..
Spoke with Kyle this morning, he got 2 permits, one to have a firearm in the house and the other for hunting purposes..I'm hoping he'll have no interest, can't see him shooting anything!
Barb if you don't need the faces for this Christmas I'll pour a few and paint then next time I'm in USA I'll mail to you. happy cooking and crafting..we're all working to a schedule now that the month of Dec. is at our doorstep..
Anyone heard from Maggie?
Dianne, I certainly will miss her, not tempted to take another boarder as I've been so lucky with Rose that likely I wouldn't get another the same...B&B is ok, they are there for a night and off the go!
OMG how frantic your neighbor must have been, bet she gave the children a big armwrap once she saw they were fine and no shannanigans going on..
Ooops got to run
Stacey I don't have a pic, it's in pieces still in the original bag, like the bags they sell bedding in. It's purples and blues and flowers are the decoration. I'll take a pic of it when I get home from work tonight.
I'm not focusing very well for some reason, must be that muscle relaxer I took at 10pm. LOL
LOL, and now the pills work? best you not be playing with high finance figures Crissy..
I'm surprised they would still be working, Crissy....... If you took 'em at 10pm, does it say how long they work for?
Message from Maggie, on another thread...
I'm being transferred from one hospital to another today. My lung isn't healing so they want me to see a thoracic surgeon. I was a good patient, but I'm getting really frustrated. Wish I could rip this chest tube out and go home. I miss my kids.
Good morning!
Mary! Welcome home, so very happy to hear DH went with you...and Sounds like you had a great time and visit.
Crissy, Welcome home to you too! My goodness, I feel bad for your mom in so much pain too, I will continue prayers for them to subside.
Yikes, you had ton of Leaf blowing/raking. Yikes, on the meds. Hope you get to feeling better.
Stacey, Everyone has great advise for you...I was just going to add, with the fleece, you need to dust out the bobbin casing often.
LOL, I learned the same way...And i now also use universal needles and do change them often.
Awww, thanks for sharing the Thanksgiing phot of Jonathan, he looks so sweet sleeping contentedly.
Waiving Hi to Bev, Tubby/Shirley, and Maggie. Hope you are all doing Well...Hopefully you all are getting in a good rest.
Keeping you all in prayer and good thoughts.
Maggie, was due to go home today, so I sure hope that is still the case..
Betty, you sure were busy this weekend! Love the greenery arrangements. Going to be tough to see Rose go. But, what a wonderful experience for you both. Wow, the afgahn sounds wonderful! Did I miss a picture??
Dianne, Oh gosh on the story! So glad they can laugh about it now...My biggest fear is to come home and find something bad happen...But, lol We have to Trust them sometime...
Debbie, so glad you were grounded and i hope you got a good rest..I agree with Betty, think it will be a couple of days, rest before you feel it...wink, so glad you "snuck" on the computer to say Hi though...
Thanks everyone about the kitchen! My last painting will be the window. painting it same color as cabinets...

Then it will be one last swap, i figure I can work on one a day and be finished before Christmas, I hope!!
..Big bummer, I have decided no more swaps for me for a while...out of money, boohoo...And it will give me a chance to do some other Home projects!! But i sure have had a load of fun being in them all...
Thunder, hope your work night was good..OH and Happy Thanksgiving to you and family...Having your celebration today, right?
OK, got to run for a bit...Help! Birdie driving me bonkers...Yikes almost like she somehow got into sugar, which is Soooo not good!
LOL, maybe I'll give her a warm bath and send her home for a while, might calm her down.
OH Gosh, Crossed Posted with you Linda Kay...
Waiving Hi to you today too. What are you up to, Are you sewing??
Thank you for posting Maggie's message.
(((((((((Maggie))))))))))
sending more prayers for recovery.
I am clearing the kitchen table, and will start sewing this afternoon!
Maggie - sorry to hear you're not going home today, but rather to another hospital. Keeping prayers for you to heal well, and quickly!!
Judy - these newsletters are done, but they were only for 1 month of a "quarter" and now need to get Next lot out by Dec 18th, for Jan/Feb/March....... I started putting it together last night.....
Have the cartoon, and the normal setup, and the Pastor has given me a schedule of some Nooma videos he's going to be facilitating..... Now, to get other submissions!!!
oh - and I start my new job next Monday, Dec 6th. We drove by yesterday, and it's a 2-storey building, with parking all around it, on-site. Dunno if I'll be on the 1st or 2nd floor. 2nd floor looks like cubicles......... ewwwwwww oh well, as long as mine is private....... but wherever they have me will be temporary until January when they get all the network cables set up in my permanent place.
Yes Judy, celebrating today...Thank you....going to sew while DH is cooking!!!
Betty, your arrangements are lovely!!!
LindaKay, too bad you and Thunder are so far away, you'd have a sewing partner..enjoy your meal Thunder, is all the family with you?
Susan, doesn't matter if you sit in the washroom to work...you've got a JOB...lol
two of the boys are here, # 1 son is in NC with his family...we will see him for Christmas.
I have roses in bloom. Oh my!!!!! They are in the garden beside the house that has a southern exposure. For a minute I thought maybe I wouldn't have Zone envy this winter.lol
Yep Susan Betty is right, washroom, closet, foyer what the heck you have a job AND you know you will be getting a new office in January.
Crissy how is your back feelin now? Are you really sensitive to Rxd drugs? My hulking DH is - 1 percocet or muscle relaxer puts him right to sleep. My system is the exact opposite unfortunately.
(((((Maggie and family))))) Glad your doc felt the same way you did about Nurse Ratchet - hope she got a blast. Thinking of you sweet lady and sending positive thoughts and vibes.
Betty I have a prayer shawl that is crocheted, a wonderful gal here on DG made it for me when I had to go to Toronto for treatment. I think it is something you could do at the office as it is not cumbersome at all. Let me know if you want the directions. You have no idea how all us patients feel when we get to pick out some homemade hats and scarves. You could have as many as you wanted, most took 2 or 3 however as always there are some that took dozens. You could get them at the Lodge and at the hospital and like I said you have no idea how appreciative we all are/were. Several stores donated beautiful hats - I have a burgandy(sp?) fedora that I would never have bought for myself. too expensive and a little out there. I feel like Alice in Wonderland when I wear it - DH says I look more like Johnny Depp in AIW when I have it on.Not something I would wear to split wood in though.
Going to put my feet up for a bit now maybe I will nod off.
BBL
Dianne
Thunder have a great family celebration!
Get some sleep now Dianne so that I can have a midnight pal to gab with lol..I'd love the prayer shawl pattern, have all kinds of wool..this year all the bags will go to the seniors home as I already called them to say I'd be bringing in about 20 or more bags but next year I'll focus on the cancer society and see what they need..always trying to find something to do so doing for them would make me feel as though I'm contributing to something helpful.
Imagine, you having a rose in bloom at this time of year...best you take a photo, better still, bring it in and put it in a vase on the table..your own Christmas rose..
I've been playing with an exacto knife, scratching away, just got the base outline done and now I need to work on it..if it looks ok I'll frame and give to my godson..
Betty that looks amazing. You did a great job.
all I can say is "Wow, Betty!!" That's fabulous!!
Hey peeps - I know I'm happy cuz I "HAVE A JOB" and it feels like a good Career! I's just curious, is all......... I'm one of those "impossible 4 yo's" that Always Have To Know!!! LOL
Only stage 1 on the wolf..3 more to go and if it looks like a wolf then I'll frame it..
Much the same Susan..
Another 1 1/4 hrs. left to my day, WANT to go home lol
then GO home, Betty LOL
After all, aren't you "semi-retired"??????
You did tell them you were.....................................
That worked well didn't it? lol
roflmfao!!!!
You should tell him "I only have a month til Jan. 1st, I am starting the New Year retired, remember?" And see his reply!
You all are a chatty bunch or maybe it is that I haven't been on for a while. My DD was here for Thanksgiving and she helped me decorate for Christmas. Boy was I glad as I didn't feel like dragging those containers out of the garage by myself.
I found a new doctor and went two weeks ago. He gave me a new blood pressure medicine that is cheaper but it made me really wozzy and light headed, especially in the morning. I called today and went in and he says my blood pressure is way too low. Should cut those pills in half and try that. Also says my being so tired is due to low thyroid and iron. Wants me to eat more green veggies and take an iron pill along with the multi-vitamin. He also gave me the good news that the knee x-ray shows bad arthritis in the right knee and I need to have a knee replacement after the first of the year. Boy, was I hoping to avoid that although I knew the knees were very bad. Glad I am here at the Center so I can stay there to recoup and get physical therapy.
Glad, too, that I have all of my swaps but one done and ready to mail. I still have a row for Marion to do sometime. I have to get a trip to St. Louis in there before Christmas and friends want to come a stay for a weekend, too. Looks like December will be as busy as the last three months have been. Glad I'm retired or I wouldn't have time to breath!
(((((((((((MAGGIE)))))))))))) Hurry and get well, your kids miss you too! Lots of thoughts and prayers going out to you hun.
Dianne it's not my back, it's my whole body! LOL I'm not near as sore as I was yesterday after we got done with all of that but it was some hard work. In about a month we'll have to do it again, then that's it until next fall.
Shirley and Tubby lots of thoughts and prayers are going out to you too! Miss you!!!
Judy I wish you could come down here and go with me to mom's and share some of your sunshine on her, she really needs it.
I got a lot of work done today, I am shocked, even through Cyber Monday! I didn't find any real good deals online this year, did anyone else who looked?
Debbie I'm glad you were grounded too, you're getting prayers for quick healing too!
Well I'm going to go watch the SF 49ers game. See y'all tomorrow!
OH Stacey, I took a picture but everybody and their brother must be online for Cyber Monday, my computer is running so slow it took forever to load DG, so I took some pics of that quilt and I'll post them in the morning from work.
I feel like bloated roadkill.
Debbie - you are hilarious !
Hello To All ! Well I typed a nice reply to all.....

Dianne,
All I can say is wow! What a wonderful surprise Blooming Roses. Now, in your time of year?!?
...I smile in remembrance...Your message, I do believe, has been received. Rest Well.
Morning everyone! Rainfall Warning in effect here today so I am off to make sure the ark is ready to go. Betty, Debbie - same weather forecast for you?
DH gets his pesky tooth yanked today - he is in so much pain he is actually looking forward to it. Sure hope this will help relieve the ear, head and neck aches he has been suffering.
Crissy have you tried soaking in epsom salts when your body feels so achey? Gives me a good excuse to have a long, luxurious bath - that's my story and I am sticking to it.
Time for more coffee. BBL
Dianne
Good morning Dianne,
We have extreme high wind warnings, 40 to 60 mph with gusts, and 3 to 4 inches of rain expected. All is calm right now....batten down the hatches.
Have a good day
Debbie
Still feeling like bloated roadkill Debbie? Did your doc call or was it today he could possibly be calling? Surely he doesn't want you to experience more days of this fluid retention.(((((Debbie)))))
Dianne, he said the meds I have should take care of the infection, it was a doozy, and give it time. Drink more fluids, and keep the feet up. I told him, it is not my feet/legs swollen this time....it is my hands. He said all the fluid is making my kidneys feel worse than the infection is...and give it time. Grrr! Yes, bloated roadkill for sure!
Morning everyone! Where is Betty today?
Debbie, please take care, and listen to the Dr. So sorry your feeling so bad! Sending prayers your way!
it is 45 this morning, and windy here. it is suppose to freeze tonight, so all the plants have been moved, and cut back! I sure hated to cut back my angel trumpets, but I know they will root and I will have lots for next year!
Oh LK I just love the Angel Trumpets but cannot grow them here - I guess I could put them out in pots during the summer and bring them in the rest of the year like I do with my tropical Hibiscus. If I get any more plants downstairs the cats are going to think they live in a jungle. The first time I cut back my Hibiscus to bring them in I felt like I was cutting myself it hurt me so much. Silly girl!!
Wonder if Betty is without power?? I am already for that here, got the generator gassed up just have to throw the switch when needed. When we built this house we had a generator panel wired right in beside the hydro box.Debbie you got your flashlights and candles ready? I even filled the bathtub with water - lol once bitten twice shy as they say.
You take care of yourself Debbie - let the others do the waiting on you for awhile.!
Gotta go Stormy is barking up a storm.
Dianne
Alright, I just checked in with Maggie.
Our poor girl has been transferred to another hospital, with better care hopefully. However, she has a 2nd chest tube in to help reinflate the lung! Pain level is NOT good.
And to make matters worse, they won't let the kids in to see her. So, if she can't see the kids....Hubby can't come up because he has the kids and no one to watch them.
Dianne, I have everything ready, and we also have a small generator but DH has to hook that monster up. I would have to move his motorcycle to get to it...and Im not moving that monster.
I was wondering where Betty was also.....praying all is well, she has been so tired lately and dealt with so much.
I love those trumpet vines, I see some "trumpet type" flowers around here and want to grow them so bad...but not an idea what I am doing.
My "supervision" has left for the day, i am home alone. I have had Shannon & Mike home helping. Mike works in construction and the weather didn't permit them to be out. Shannon got called into work a few hours early as people are out sick.
SO, going to have my coffee...and finish my book!
