Money Matters - Part 4
Unpleasant surprise early this am, $3.43/ gal at my local gas station. I have to go out of my way now to get $3.33. - something which obviously I won't be able to do all the time..
Ugh!
paid 3.01 this morning
Just paid the quarterly Fed taxes - major ouch!
It's very oppressive. - and getting worse, now they want to license bicycles and charge a tax for fire dept responses to car crashes.
http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/01/14/fdny-crash-tax-proposal-debated-at-public-hearing/
Saw that. Charging for fire responses is outrageous when we already paid taxes for that. That is just outright abuse.
It should be illegal.
- They have the president set in Indiana so I wouldn't be surprised if it goes through. - What's next? charging for police responses? Surcharge for more than 2 cans of garbage on the curb? - anything is game now...

The oil ETF I bought recently is already up 12%.
WC, they already do that here. Only allowed 2 cans and need a pre-paid tag for any extras.
Wow! - and I was just 'making that up'! lol!!
lol! truth can be stranger than fiction.
Oh Yeah!!!! someone was telling me about having to buy tags for their trash cans and if there's no tag on it that it was paid for they won't take your trash...who the heck was that?????? Ugh this is going to drive me crazy!
Could have been me. We pay $1 @ sticker. It makes us all recycle consistently. No charge for recyclables.
we have curbside pick up for recyclables. Less trash bags or cans.
Thanks Jan, probably was you.
My fil's town is going to fine houses that don't put out their recylcing can every month
Just had an oil fill up, took 153.3 gallons and cost me $485.81 approx. $3.17 a gallon.
Might use it all in the next few days!!
Hope not!
ouch
I am Soo happy I do not have oil..
Few yers ago I can remember them talking on the news that your comp can be hacked and the hacker knows every move you make. Well it was on the news again.
They can hack you and actually tell what you type! They said that when you do banking or paying a bill online always make sure you sign in on the
https.www the s stands for secured socket layers.
freak me right out
They can tell what you ate too.
Keylogger programs, they've been around for a long time. Some are disguised as cookies and act like robots, they keep the keystrokes you type in a log and send it back to a scam website. Same type of programs they use in sensitive offices with a lot of security where they want to know what their employees are typing.
- Someone got my Citibank MasterCard #, I don't know how they did it since there was no activity on this particular acct for the past year, they made a $1 charge on Yahoo wallet. The bank called me Saturday to verify and stopped the card, just got a new one yesterday. They're always out there trying to get info, identity theft is still a big problem. Got the dollar refunded, luckily the bank was on top of it.
Yeah they start out with a small charge to see if it will be caught, if not, they start using it more.
Just got an email that said, 'Ever notice that when you put the words 'The' and 'IRS' together, it spells 'theirs'!
The crisis in Egypt is rocking the market today. No direct connection, but fear of spreading unrest driving oil up.
Coup d' etat! Ole!
Ugh - just filled up. $3.34 - over $56 to fill it!
Enjoy it while it lasts! I have to drive 3 miles to get 3.34 now. - then I have to drive 3 miles to get back. (lol)
Ethanol content going up to 15%!
Edit: Never mind, ...it's already up to 15%. lol!

Victor--You must own an SUV or a serious P/U truck!
I have a Subaru Outback and really don't drive that much.
Four miles to work and back--3 days a week.
One longer trip a year at Christmas--to NJ. and, maybe one to VA.
I really put on minimal mileage on my car.....Fill up, maybe?,
every 3 weeks or so--maybe a month?
I put on, on the average, about 7K to 8K miles a year.
Right now gas is about $3.05 here. Some stations are higher--
as they are nearer I=95. The neighborhood ones are a few cents less.

Minivan, Gita. Luckily, I don't drive too much either. Still under 10,000 miles after 1 1/2 years.
I can suppose that everything costs more in NY.....Yes? No???--I guess it is all relative...
I have heard that Baltimore is a financial Mecca between NY, DC, Philadelphia and such--and a wonderful City to visit...
Reasonable place to live too--real estate speaking....
I KNOW it is a great City--as i have lived here for 60 years...All that seafood and great restaurants!
The Inner harbor, the Crabs, and all that....
Come and visit!
Gita
The preceding was brought to you from the Baltimore Tourism Dept.!! ^_^
