Went shopping tonight for a few things not real Christmas shopping but some little things I needed, mini cupcake papers, placemats and a universal knife block...have you seen these?

Hypothetical question...if you had the chance would you pay off your mortgage or invest the money into something? I'm talking about 20 years left on a thirty year note.

Very good question. Depends on what rate you're paying. The higher, the more likely I would say pay off the mortgage (or any loan).

I did think about the rate too...say 5 1/2...

That's not horrible. Mine is 6.25 and I often think about that. I do pay a LOT extra each month to pay it down faster. The bottom line is - can you reliably do better than 5.5% return investing it? That''s tough right now.

Only if I can get a ten-year mortgage, which is not common.

I'd pay off the mortgage. If you pay it off you actually own it free and clear, you have a 'tangible' asset.

Ten years isn't so bad Victor we have 20.

re-fi to a 15 and get a lower interest rate while continuing to pay the same as today.

Just filled the tank @ $3.23 per gallon.

$3.29 here today.

Almost double what it was two years ago.

We are at about $2.95 or a bit less right now....
Some stations closer to I-95 have it way over $3. They kind of catch the passers through that
desperately need gas....

I try to get my gas at a Royal farms Store. They usually have it a bit cheaper...

3.05 and I drove 20 miles to the next town over and 3.11

My thinking is that anything less than 10cents difference does not validate me driving
any amount of miles out of the way to save the 10cents/gallon difference.

My car holds 14 gallons of gas (Subaru Outback). Not gonna drive 2-3 or more miles extra
looking for anything cheaper for a $1.40 savings.

i am outraged - and will really be outraged after the next heating oil fill!

But crickets from the media and all the people who screamed a few years back.

Because it creeped up so slowly...I'm just glad I can put it on my business card.

Nope. They have risen faster (two separate times) in the past year than previously.

gas jumped $ .10 overnight.

And the worst part is that they have risen so much in a DOWN economy. What happens when it heats up? $5 a gallon. Higher??

Maybe $4 by next December, who knows..

Cotton going up - they said to buy your cotton products now.
Citrus and veggies - freezing in Fl - Grocery bill will go up.
Gas will go up - So everything goes up.

Oil is over $3 a gallon now....dread filling up again!

@Bill - get a wood stove. 6 weeks and our furnace came on 2 times. Now I lost the count as the other night it came on as it was only 6 degrees.

Then the kicker is next year when we fill up we will get slapped hard as we did not use the minimum oh what a joke.

New comp getting the best of me. Went from XP to Win 7 and my programs are not compatible. Picture program 79 bucks - argh.

They come with a lot of marketing programs that make you think you have to buy their stuff or else you have problems.. Picasa & FastStone Viewer are both free and are very good.
- you might have switched from the 32 bit version of XP to the 64 bit Win7. Some 'legacy' 32 bit programs are incompatible when you try to install on a 64 bit system.

Some thief had it here for 3.14 another across the street was 3.09 Both right near the turnpike...hmmm

I always wanted to move to Iowa...but of course our biz is doing real well, hubby is working late again tonight

I really hate when they charge more for credit cards than cash.

I have family in Iowa, gets brutally cold up there for winter, the bark peels off the trees! lol!
- Same gas fluctuations here too, one side can have $3.19 (which is the lowest I find here now, and the other side can have $3.38/ gal. Right near the LI Expressway also.

There oughta be a law!!
