Best of luck to your sister. They have some great Docs in Denver, niece's husband is one of them so I'm sure she will be in great hands if neccessary.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Lucy.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Good luck to your sis Victor. The woman's body as lovely as it is can be quite a challenge for us at times!

Wow!

Thomaston, CT

How nice for your community!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

well we have all the halloween decorations put away but his box that opens & closes.. he is going to disassemble it tomorrow... well at least most of it is either packed up already or stuck in the garage to dry off.... and the icicle lights are up for Christmas... took one set down and replaced with the new ones... while it's not freezing we like to get that over with

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You guys should start a business!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I want a job at Disney!!!!... they have the bucks to do what I dream of!!!

oh and we are going to keep track of how many lights we have finally... figured it would be fun to keep track and get a real tally of every light... so as we put them up... going to put them on a spread sheet

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cool. What % are led??

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

maybe I should count that as well

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Great idea Allison! You guys are so organized!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that tacky lights website... you need a min of 10,000 lights to be listed on... we never counted before... I bet it's more than that

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Three houses in my neighborhood put their Christmas decorations up today, Yippee!

Thomaston, CT

Only our town has put up the wreaths on the lamp posts....on the Sat. after Thanksgiving, the town has a huge celebration called Light Up the Town.....all the buildings have little white lights that are lit beginning that night, Main St. is closed off, Santa arrives in a horse drawn carriage, there is free entertainment at the Opera House, & businesses & churches & clubs give away hot dogs, hot chocolate, brownies, popcorn....

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

sounds like fun!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - wish our dinky town did something nice.

Older son brought home is report card today. Four primary class grades were three 100's and a 99. He's punished for the 99. ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

They finally put the photo contest vote banner up - with only hours left!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Your son did fantastic, Victor. Congratulations to him.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, pirl! We're very proud of him. Our only concern for him is that he pushes himself too hard and worries too much.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

My daughter was just like your son and pushed herself all through college and did quite well. My son was just the opposite. It's difficult to know whether the pushing or the relaxed attitude is the way to go but I'd vote for the self-pushers.

A person can always turn down a job offer but for many young people getting the job offer is nearly impossible.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, you certainly like to see motivation, but it can sometimes be too much and they over-stress and can pay the price. We go out of our way not to pressure him. We always yell him that all we expect is for him to try huis best and the rest will take care of itself.

I'm a relaxed self-pusher myself. ^_^

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I agree.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

congrats little Victor!

South Hamilton, MA

Internal push is always the best--not just grades, but learning something. I brother was quite an excellent student. I was so glad to be 10s behind him in school & my parents never sompared so I could do all right in a more relaxed manner.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

that is great victor

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Congrats to your son Victor!

It's hard either way, my son's ex fiance was a pusher and drove herself to the point of IBS...my niece was a pusher and did fine. Depends on the personality I think.

There were times when I wanted to push my son right out the door! LOL

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Congrats to the little man and Mom & dad too! ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, all!

Hee hee, Ronnie!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

seems like all bad timing with this years contest right???

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I think they're still learning the ropes.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Def not running like it did with Dave behind DG.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

possible

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I think the problem is that the technical person (programmer) is not always in the loop. He/she needs to be notified about needed stuff.
