Coffee Break # 47 - Getting close to turkey time
Love all those shows, too young at the time to be burdened by whether it was quality or not, just plain fun.
- and don't forget 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea' with the flying sub! (lol!)
I loved Richard Basehart (sp ?) and David Heddison...who cared if all the episodes were basically the same? At that age, critical judgement had not yet been achieved!
The kids at my bus stop were into "Dark Shadows," but it put me into a 4pm nap/stupor (low blood sugar?).
Okay - what's the answer???
Started judging the photo contest. Same as usual - some really good, some really bad and many that simply make me shake my head! Wrong category, blurry, small pic, etc. Some people need to check what counts as an insect! ^_^
it's a certain car.
Some people were evidently confused, it's a shame. I'm thinking some gardeners who take pics are elderly and may have been overwhelmed or intimidated by the upload process, that could account for some of the mistakes.
Happy Birthday to your lovely wife, Victor! Hope you have a special gift for her....not getting into wrong categories for photos......mind is blank at times!
mustang convertible or firebird?
Had Chinese food delivered before and the guy said he loved my flowers. He was pointing to one of my JM seedlings!
Buttering you up for the tip!
"Laura Petrie" was saving up to get him....his own room !!!
Writer Virginia Woolf wrote an essay, "A Room of One's Own"; it described the comfort and ease generated by a quiet, secure space that cannot be violated.
Although Woolf was directing her ideas to the emerging Feminist thought of the 1920's, it's a universal desire. The real estate concept of a "man cave" is very popular, where the guy can watch football games, play pool or whatever, in his own space, or invite buddies over.
Episode #33 of "The Dick Van Dyke" show is titled "Bank Book 656596."
It can be viewed on imdb.com, and other sites.
Laura Petrie was a dish!
TV historians point out that her appearance was similar to the very popular (at the time) Jackie Kennedy, who had a very high public "Q" rating.
Too 'miss goodie-two shoes' for my taste..
(lol)
I remember my Mom once saying that there was nothing exceptional about the "parts" i.e. eyes, nose, etc. of MTM's face, but when put together she was exceptionally beautiful.
"Goodie-two shoes" was her PUBLIC image; there is an account that during a cocktail party, she casually instructed the servers to "just wipe the lipstick off the edge of the champagne glasses" and re-serve the half-consumed drinks again after topping them off.
edit: this story refers to Jackie Kennedy, not Mary Tyler Moore.

I was wrong, and "pixie" was correct!
"Laura Petrie" was indeed savig for a sports car for "Rob Petrie"; it was Laura's mom who saved money to get her husband his own room.
The memory is the 2nd thing we lose due to age...looks go 1st !!!
I had a crush on Laura Petrie, (MTM). Ric
I had a crush on Joey Heatherton. (lol!)
I had one on Barbara Eden. Actually, more than one.
Hee hee!
Tony Hagman was the counterpart for young females.
edit: It's Larry Hagman, not "Tony." (The fictional character was "Tony Nelson." Jeepers, I'm error-prone today.)

Well BA...I was begining to think there must of been 2 bank book shows and I missed the one about his own room. LOL
there was a reason they called it "i dream of genie"!!
I'm fairly certain that the teenage guys (our current middle-aged posters) were focusing on the geography south of the equator.
not me:) the whole package looked great - i am still amazed at that time that the outfit was seen on national TV. no wonder my father watched it with us:)

Yes - the whole package.
More worries here. My sister was told they found something in her mammogram. She had to quickly go for another in-depth series of pics yesterday. This was found with the latest super woopee model. And she just left today on what promised to be a great vacation before she starts to look for a job after completing her medical coding training. She is to be away for six weeks. They will not have results for about a week. If necessary, she will follow up in Denver with her SIL's doctors.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She has been through so much with endometriosis (multiple surgeries) and a hysterectomy. She was not able to have kids and would have been a great mom.
Hope the tests have good news.
Oh Victor, im so sorry, will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Here's hoping for good test results and a wonderful vacation.
Victor, that is just a scary thing.....hope she will get good news....she'll be in my prayers!
Thank you, all.
hoping for the best victor
Thanks.
yes that's always scary, I cant imagine what it must be like not knowing...
- good luck
Thanks, WC.

So sorry to hear that Victor, definitely tough to go through. Will keep her and you in my thoughts. Hope she can relax a little on vacation.
